  1. It's my personal opinion that Jagex should make a rule against begging, clearly state that it's only to be used when the begger persistantly asks you over and over/insults you, and then decide on a case to case basis on whether the begger in question should be punished or not.
  2. They are. Are they taking up every single monster?
  3. So what if someone is attacking a monster? Well, Peter, can you name me any game in which a low level can attack a high level NPC for hours on end without the risk of dying, therefore preventing anyone else from killing it? Well, can you? ...No? I didn't think so. Imagine that. Call me selfish or snobbish or whatever-- I don't care. I shouldn't have to wait 10 to 20 minutes for someone to kill 1 NPC because their levels are too low to inflict any real damage to it. Surely you can agree that if someone takes longer than 3 minutes to kill 1 NPC that they are out of their league. Therefore, what's the problem with making sure that these people can't take away from the people who've actually earned the levels to be there? Is it really that bad that something like this would be necesary? Unless they're literally on every world I don't think this constitutes a problem. When I was a lower level I liked to do stupid stuff too...it was what kept me playing. Hell, I still[/i] do stupid stuff sometimes. :P
  4. There's many ways to stop it. I think Jagex should take a good hard look at what other MMORPGs do to solve problems like this. They might learn a thing or two. :P
  5. Usually when they come out with something big they get so worked up into a frenzy about it they won't listen to anyone. :|
  6. Very true, unfortunately Jagex almost never admits their mistakes, and when they do it's usually just to nerf some random quest or weapon. :? Wanna know why there are so many more ranters than complimenters? That's why. Well that and the fact that ppl would rather do something that has a point (if you rant about something you have an extremely slim chance that you're gonna be heard, right?). What primeaction said was true, and by the way..jAgeX does actually admit it makes mistakes when it does these big cleaning up updates. Also, have you ever read some of the rants jAgeX receives? I read one recently where a guy was ranting how he got scammed out of a mith square and was going to quit if he didn't get it back... Of course I read the rants. I'm on that forum all the time. :P There's plenty of legitimate rants that ask Jagex to think twice about their updates. And yes they do get feedback, but alot of times they don't use it the way I think they should.
  7. Man I hope that isn't their attitude - that seems like a very hit and miss sort of approach. One of my friends was banned for that, he was a nice guy, gave out lots of money. Lucky it wasn't as bad as that when I borrowed 2mil off a mate, or when I paid him back. Now I do unbalanced trades if he lets me wear his santa, heh, Jagex won't look. This banning strategy makes no sense. Jagex is really getting desperate...

  9. If Jagex would just get things right the first time this thread wouldn't be here.
  10. Personally I wouldn't mind if they did away with wild levels completely and let everyone attack anyone. :P Str is WAY too powerful compared to the other combat skills, especially defence. If they want a better combat system, they have to find a way to balance all the skills involved (would be very hard for Jagex ppl to do, considering they're very bad at balancing things :( ). There's nothing wrong with being a pure, and there's nothing wrong with making them obsolete.
  11. It's in the interest of money that Jagex advertises to kids under 13. Technically, I don't believe Jagex isn't doing anything wrong when they publish an 8+ BOOK about a 13+ GAME. Still, it's morally wrong since they're number one goal is to deceive parents into letting they're kid play runescape (especially when you consider how bad the ppl are in f2p. If you don't think they're bad, go to the karamja fishing dock in a free world). Even if parents have the common sense to check out the game, they'll probably stop when they read that stupid parent's guide. They tell us the game's for all ages even know the terms and conditions clearly state that "if you are under 13, you must not play this game" I find it funny that Jagex says that luring is not in the spirit of the game when they do it themselves. :?
  12. Yeah that's true, usually people who get selected to be mods never disagree with what Jagex does, and if they do it's only very mildly. Jagex will never be willing to hire ppl to moderate. That's just the way it is. To be honest with you, as a forum moderator we Do complain a fair bit :P but the differnece is we complain constructivly. When Jagex do somthing I dont like they do hear about it, but unlike alot of people I will sit back and thing "why is this bad? is it bad for everybody or just me? can it be done better in the future" I think before I post, not just post which is a skill i wish some other people learnt. I do often however take the side of Jagex alot over that of a player, I know quite well how Jagex operate through my gaming experiance and so have alot of respect for them as a company. And actually the customer service is quite good! (if you want to see what real bad customer service is try and speak with HP computers :P). Alot of players are very misguided, and it is usually the mature players who can spot this and help corrrect them. This is why they gain moderator status..... because they are mature...... not because they think Jmods are gods. Mods aren't the only people who complain constructively. I personally know of alot of good constructive threads on the RSOF. I think before I post too, it's just that the conclusion I reach generally doesn't agree with Jagex. What I hate most is that SOME people on there assume they're better than others just because they agree with the ditch, tutors, etc. (not talking about you btw, just some people). Misguided? How do you know you're not misguided? Yeah I know that there are alot of people who don't know what they're doing, but there's also quite a few that do.
  13. lol I was going to post exactly what you just said.

  15. Flag-holding takes strategy out of the game. Because of this, about the only deciding factor on who's going to win a game is how many high levels happen to be on each team. It's not much more than luck it seems. You can't really do much to help your team unless you're a fairly high level player.
  16. That might happen when the situation degrades so much no one will want to play rs2.
  17. The autoers are just going to get more numerous unless something big happens. And thanks for your comment -.-
  18. I don't think that Jagex should've released the exact skill requirements, but a nice hint into what they're developing is just fine.
  19. When I just started playing about a year and a half ago I had no idea what macroers were. I just assumed that the couple of ppl cutting yews were real ppl. And until less than six months ago I was actually able to buy runes at the mage bank. Now, in a short amount of time, where there once was one or two bots there is now ten!!! It's scary now, the amount of bots I see cutting yews in Catherby is comparable to the amount of bots I saw in f2p just a short time ago... :| Maybe one day p2p's gonna get overrun just like f2p.
  20. The topic of this thread is rs in five years. 2007+5=2012 :uhh:
  21. We're speculating here. I'd rather have a gloomy prediction that gets proven wrong than be in the dark when 2012 rolls along :anxious:
  22. The problem in making f2p a 30-day trial is that it isn't just a demo. It's a whole version of rs that many ppl enjoy playing. Plus this would probably crash the rs economy since you need the low-level f2pers that mine iron, etc. It's completely useless to sign up for members unless you've already done everything in f2p, which could take alot longer than a month.
  23. RS in five years? First off I would like to say that the odds of Jagex fixing all of their huge problems with CS, macroers, immaturity, and everything else...are about the same odds as me suddenly coming out with the next WOW. Financially rs might become very successful. New members are coming in all the time. Jagex is making more and more money every month. But the community will suffer greatly. Jagex's new customer base will probably become 10+ instead of 13+ (if it isn't already  ). This will cause the older, higher lvl players to quit. Once that happens, rs probably won't be a place i'd want to spend my time in. I really don't care if Jagex manages to release 3 updates a week. At the end of the day, it's the community that usually decides how good a game is.
  24. Fair enough, you've chosen to play RS, but can you honestly say that every single thing in RS is better than WoW (apart from graphics, which is fairly obvious)? This attitude annoys me, because like it or not, RSers are gonna have to accept that there are some things the designers of WoW do better than the Gowers, simply because they have more experience, and that the Gowers really should look towards them for inspiration instead of digging their heels in the sand, with the majority of the RS community blindly supporting them with an almost war-like patriotism. I'm also sorry to say they probably do more things right than the Gowers, as is shown by the sheer comparison in the games' relative populations. I'm sorry to wake some RSers up here, but no other MMORPG has the same behavioural problems with its community as RS! Is perhaps the fact we can world-hop the main reason for this, and if so, if not RS be made into a one-server game, should the extent to which we can world-hop be limited, in order to make rule-breakers and generally unpleasent people accountable for their actions? And if so, would it actually work anyway? I seriously doubt that making rs a one-server game would significantly help our huge rule-breaking, begging, macroing, scamming, luring, and idiot/immature player problems. It's easy to think that our problems will be solved with a single update like the one suggested here, but that simply isn't the case. If rs really wants a better community, both Jagex and the average player must get actively involved to do it. It would take a very long time to fix it, and even then we would likely fail. I'm not trying to shoot you down, but I don't see this doing anything but cause alot of outrage.
  25. If Jagex implemented this for their game I wouldn't be able to meet up with my friends on other servers. And it would do really weird things to the game as a whole, especially economically. Maybe this would've been a good idea when the game was in its infancy, but it's totally out of line today. I also think it wouldn't fit in with the spirit of the game, which is supposed to involve the freedom to do things like switch worlds. Unless you could find a way to condense all of runescape into a just a few worlds, this idea wouldn't work.
