  1. They do, only with 20s :XD:
  2. Paul was S h a r k, and yes jagex mods do play on normal accounts, that doesnt mean they know what the player base needs though. How would you know the account a Jagex mod plays on? I thought they said a jmod would never talk about his job on a normal account...
  3. Thank you. I was beginning to think no one was going to take me seriously...
  4. Being a pure doesn't mean you're automatically a moron. It's just something players do to compete. Sure, alot of pures might be arrogant, but they're not that way because they're a pure. It's simply their nature. Therefore, discussing a pure's behavior is completely irrelevant if you're discussing the validity of pures. Jagex put in the lower levels of the wilderness for a reason. If players want to PK there, but have to be a pure to do it effectively, there's nothing stopping them. Having said that, I really think Jagex should fix the combat system whenever they can. That way pures can just train defence and they'll be less flaming. :P I believe that a part of all the resentment of pures is the inability to realize that some people are different than you. Sort of like "I'm doing things this way, and unless you do things the exact same way i'm going to flame you until you do". I mean come on it's pretty selfish to flame pures for doing things that don't even affect you. :?
  5. What does being an arrogant idiot have to do with being a pure?
  6. Whell, they try to make us happy. Just noone has found any use of the rune satchel. Probably to store many runes in one satchel, thus you have more space for food. Ok...
  7. Yeah, and i'm sure they found a use for that rune satchel that no one else has seemed to realize
  8. I don't think you understand the point of this thread. I'm asking if Jagex really thinks that the average player will enjoy the useless things they put into the game.
  9. jmods don't show up on the highscores. I'm talking about the normal accounts they play in their spare time. :? Oh yea, try Zezima : I'm trying to be serious here.
  10. jmods don't show up on the highscores. I'm talking about the normal accounts they play in their spare time. :?
  11. Well? Do they? Sometimes I don't believe what kind of stuff they put in this game (tower of life/what lies below/pointless towns that are only there for a single quest/a great deal of the weapons and armor they make/and much much more :| ). I'm not being ignorant. I tried the tower of life mini game. I got a rune satchel. I picked it up, looked on tipit what it can hold, and quickly dropped it again. Who in their right mind would possibly think that item would have any use? I remember a good thread on the RSOF, titled "The Value of rs" where the author quoted mod craddock on his stance on horses (it was one of the things on the ridiculous "do not suggest" list. ). It went along the lines of this. "how would horses add to the value of runescape? Since you can already run and teleport, why would you need them, etc. etc." The thread author then asked craddock to explain how the tower of life added to the "value of rs". - Here's a quote from the knowledge base: "many of our staff members are keen players with high-level characters and skills." I highly doubt this. If they had truely high level characters, they would certainly be able to discern between useful additions to the game and worthless updates. If the above comment was true, i'm almost certain they would've removed the new mining animation (yes it is slower - I tested it myself!!!). They would've realized the problem on their accounts. I'm not doubting Jagex moderators have accounts. I'm doubting if they play long and hard enough for them to have any idea of how the average player plays. I'm doubting whether they can identify with so many player's frustration at the absense of, among other things, Rise of the Red axe part three/continuation to the plague city series/a better bank organization system/adragon pickaxe(also on the "do not suggest" list -.- )/and, perhaps one of the more important ones, A Lasting Solution to Autoers That Doesn't Involve Constantly Wasting Player's Time with Silly Random Events!!! Of course there are many others out there. If Jagex would just sit down and ask themselves, before they release an update, is the average player going to use it. If the answer is no, they should modify it until it isn't Discuss.
  12. I was fighting a green drag when a 100+ PKer appeared and waited for me to kill the drag so he could attack me. But I tellied away just in time before his blow landed.
  13. Bots are like artificial stilts that give a boost to a virtual economy. Rather than having to wait for it to slowly develop legitimately, gaming companies just let all the Asian gold-farming companies take care of everything. Of course, bots lead to massive inflation, which is why there can't be too many of them. I don't think Jagex is purposely letting the autoers stay in this game, but I don't think they care enough to find a way to get rid of them either. Think about it. Without bots the prices of yew trees would skyrocket, which would cause a lot of complaining that it's too hard to make money because of it. Most people initially hate macroers, but after a massive ban when the price of a raw material goes up they start wanting them back. They don't seem to understand that wanting these cheaters in the game is just as wrong as actually buying from them. I think that Jagex regards macroers as a necessary evil. They control them enough so that they don't get out of hand, but they never even attempt to completely get rid of them. I don't even think Jagex realizes what they're doing. They're basically being indifferent. They announce a half-hearted campaign againts bots that offers little permanent effectiveness. The only right thing to do is make this problem their highest priority, and actively search for ways to permanently fix it. Doing anything but this is the same as running the bots themselves. An economy without bots means you would have to work harder, but it would be a lot more secure and stable than what we currently have...and I bet it would last longer too. In no way am I announcing Jagex is intentionally destroying their game. All they're doing is falling into the same trap of human nature people have fallen into for millenia, one where the victim sees exactly what the evil is and wants to defeat it, but stops short when he realizes what he must sacrifice. So, in answer to this thread, yes I DO believe that some day gold-farmers will destroy this game. When that happens, Jagex will simply create another game and the cycle will continue.
  14. I think if this is implemented all the individual economies would be weak and fragile. There would be very little sense of security as prices of things would rise and fall over unpredictable variables. In our economy, those variables are to small to affect much (an example of a variable would be a clan war, or a few people with crucial economic roles such as rune mining suddenly switch to yew cutting for whatever reason. Even a single PKer might be able to wreak an entire economy by PKing nat crafters, causing a devastating chain reaction). I really don't like that you would be barred access to people on other servers. It just doesn't seem like a good thing to me.
  15. I have some unnused willows sitting in my bank and I want something to do with them. Tell me, what is the absolute best place to burn them? It should be: 1. Close to a bank 2. Have alot of open space 3. Be as remote as possible (I like being alone while training :) ) Any suggestions?
  16. That's how much real world traders sell it for. They buy it for much less.
  17. 16 hours 0.50 cents an hour Sounds like a sweatshop to me -.- It looks bad, but remember, this is China. It would be the same low-income situation as a Chinese factory worker, for example. For some reason people think little kids are forced to play these games. They're not. The people that work there aren't evil. They're just trying to make a living. The chance of destroying a game's economy certainly isn't going to stop them. That doesn't mean we should ignore gold farmers, but please, cut out all the ignorant rhetoric about "those evil chinese shweatshops".
  18. Great guide. This is usually how I choose to make money. The only difference is that I buy the flax and essence to speed up the process (more efficient that way, and you still get all the experience :) )
  19. No, actually macroing for a living in China pays about as well, and has the same or better working conditions as any other job. Jagex was exaggerating when they said "sweatshops".
  20. It was a good idea. It gives f2p a taste of members without hurting anybody.
  21. Removing pest control would be catastrophic. There would be chaos everywhere. Huge riots on every world. Not something us peace-loving players would want. I haven't tried the new pest control yet but I think it's a good update. It makes people realize that the game was intended to be a nice break from training combat the normal way, not a main source of experience. It seems they fixed everything but the 20 minute time limit, which is still sadly useless. (Well not really. If I had a decent pc clan I would try to play a game that long just for the bragging rights. :P )
  22. In rl, kids are constantly guided by parents and teachers as well as reprimanded if they do something wrong. In rs, there are many, many dumb things you can do that aren't against the rules, and even if they are that doesn't mean you'll face any consequences. Playing in an online game requires you to take responsibility over controlling your own behavior and staying orderly. You need to have a developed sense of ethical behavior, which apparantly alot of the people playing dont have. \
  23. I don't uncerstand why you would want to attack someone if you have nothing to gain from it. I guess it has to do with hormones or something. :?
  24. LOL, they're never going to leave if things stay how they are.
  25. In general, p2p has a better community than f2p because they're more committed to the game. Alot of idiots in the free worlds go around being abusive because they just started playing and have no repect for runescape. People that have played Halo would expect people to swear, so they themselves go around swearing. It often depends where you are. Different types of people go to different things. In members worlds, the worst of the community usually shows up in PKing and staking because these activities resemble the kind of things you do in most other games. You'll find nicer people in more far-off towns like Port Phastmays. You'll also find them doing things like training farming, supposedly the most boring skill in rs (I think it's quite fun, actually  ). You can find some very good people in this game, if you know where to look. The same with the RSOF rants. There's alot of idiots, but alot of intelligent people there too. Because of this it's impossible to say runescape is just one commuity. It's a whole lot of intertwined ones, all of them as diversified as the activities in this game. Runescape is chock full of idiots, macroers, beggars, scammers, and the like, but it's also full of good honest people just wanting to play a decent game.
