  1. Jamflex returning lost items? Holy shit, I never thought I'd see the day. Major kudos to them. They're starting to wrack up some very smart customer service moves as time goes by. I hope to see these grow and become more frequent. I would imagine it'd only help them in the long run - after all, there's a reason everyone loves Blizzard's CS team. Heh, you say that but you obviously have not been playing Diablo 3 recently. They make Jagex look like the best in the business. First of all, their security is very lax so there has been numerous reports of people getting hacked. They do not lock you out after entering wrong passwords too many times and passwords aren't case sensitive. Pretty much the only way to ensure the safety of your items at this point is to download Blizzard's smartphone authenticator app. They will roll back your account after you submit an "I got hacked" ticket, but it takes close to a week for them to do it so in that time you could have easily earned back what got stolen. There has been humongous criticism for the game's many bugs and lag and very few CS responses to it all. They took down "commodities" such as gems and crafting ingredients from the Auction House close to a week ago because of "glitches" and there was nothing posted on the forums letting people know how the fix was coming until today's patch, which supposedly fixed the issue. Then there's how unbalanced the classes are-- in the highest difficulty setting, melee classes can't do anything because regardless of their gear they die in one or two hits. Meanwhile, Ranged classes are able to solo the highest difficulty with merely decent gear.
  2. Haha a dsq half, what a jip. I bet at first you were like "HNNNNNNG" and then like "Okay :("
  3. While I agree it shouldn't had happened in the first place, read the addition to my last post for my further reasonings. Yes, they should have done something in the past but why should people suffer now because of draconian policies developed years ago? That's why I view it as progress.
  4. Jamflex returning lost items? Holy shit, I never thought I'd see the day. Major kudos to them. Indeed. Let's see if they will return lost items, and if they are going to keep doing so in future, when servers crash also. Apparently people's items didn't appear under their grave because too many people died and there was an overload of items on a single tile, so many people lost Torva etc. Also note that Emilee said it is not a promise or gurantee that they will be getting their items back. Same thing happened with Branches of Darkmeyer. If they change their policy on this, then it'll come off as being acceptable to change their policies on other thing... (Not like they haven't with SoF) It' a principle thing. Who cares, though? With the whole "Wheel of Dollars" thing they have going, they proved that nothing they say is set in stone. They have no qualms about going against things they said in the past-- while I generally disagree with reneging on promises, in this case I see it as progress. It's complete bullshit that people lose their hard-earned items worth hundreds of millions of GP because something screwed up on Jagex's end.
  5. Jamflex returning lost items? Holy shit, I never thought I'd see the day. Major kudos to them. Indeed. Let's see if they will return lost items, and if they are going to keep doing so in future, when servers crash also. I must say I don't approve. Why not? This boss is hard enough that you have to use your best possible gear to stand a chance and if THEIR servers glitch out and cause people to lose their stuff unfairly, it is only just and fair that Jagex takes steps to return said items.

  7. Yeah, these items are likely to go way up in price because of how difficult she is.
  8. Dude got demolished with the best gear in the game. Obviously this is the first day and it will get easier over time, but I still do not think her rewards justify how difficult she is. Meh.
  9. Well, they certainly gave her shitty rewards for a boss that looks so tough.
  10. Would someone be kind enough to upload a stream of fighting the QBD?
  11. I honestly didn't expect anything better really. It's dragon equipment. It's not going to be better than things a few tiers higher. I would at least expect it to be better than the square shield by a fair margin. I don't think boosting the stats to at least 60 would have been too much to ask :S
  12. The kite is barely better than the square, wtf?
  13. But the game company takes a cut of every sale you make. Which is why, in the end, most won't use it. They still stick to third-party websites.
  14. Right now, there is absolutely no point in using the RMAH in D3 because the game is strictly instanced (with up to four people) PvE. Blizzard talked about incorporating PvP sometime in the future, but as of right now it doesn't exist. And until it DOES exist, people aren't going to spend very much on items. Why should they-- they aren't directly competing with other players, so there is no need to twink your gear unless you just have to be the best. In a couple months after the newness has worn off, I'd see the absolute best stuff in the game going for maybe $20 tops. Also, Blizzard put a stupid tax on the RMAH where any sale you do they take $1 from it, so in the end the majority of gold farmers will still use 3rd party websites rather than using Blizzard's official system, so they've solved nothing. I see JSP continuing to be just as prevalent in the economy as it was in the end of D2, which is unfortunate and could have been prevented had Blizzard not instituted that asinine AH tax.
  15. The ironic thing is, the "email registration" is actually a major security loophole. Many free-email providers are quite easy to hack, and if someone steals your e-mail account they can easily recover your RS account with it. That is a security loop-hole with your choice of email, not with RS. It actually makes rs more secure if you need to access an unrelated 3rd party account to successfully recover a password. But the point is, it creates a single-point-of-failure if all someone needs to do is steal your 3rd party account (and the names of many of those e-mail accounts were leaked when any number of the fansites were hacked). Jagex places too much emphasis on the e-mail recovery-- you don't need any other information to recover the account if you have control of the e-mail account tied to the RS account. I don't agree with that practice.

  17. If you haven't, make sure that you block ICMP on your firewall. One of the most common forms of denial of service is to repeatedly ping an IP address until it interrupts the connection. If you block ICMP in your firewall rules, you prevent that method of DoS attack.
  18. Welcome to RunScape: home of the nastiest, trolliest, piece-of-shittiest people in the gaming world. Oh, also, there are a few things you could do to prevent DDOS attacks. Log into your router and change one of the numbers in your MAC address. This should stop the attacks. Simply resetting your router will not change your IP, even if you use DHCP and neither will IPconfig /release /renew. Another solution is to call up your ISP and tell them you believe somebody is using denial of service attacks against you, so you would like them to assign you a new IP address. Alternatively, you could spoof your IP address through use of a proxy or VPN if it keeps happening after that.
  19. Says everything there is to say about this.
  20. Blah blah blah, anyone can fabricate arbitrary percentages to make themselves look good.
