doing something band related is so cliche.. for my last project in college we were told the topic was anything we wanted, in the whole intire world.. I chose to do something simple and different, 'landscape art' :D , were I painted, created prints, designed packaging binoculars lol it was actually really interesting as It was so original and I produced some really crisp clever designs : .. 90% of my class chose their favourite band and most designed crappy cd covers and photoshopped loads of pictures together, one even stuck his designs onto an Ipod box cus he couldnt be bothered doin anythin.. Half of my class almost failed the course after that, they got referals.. basically given a second date to improve it and the highest mark they could get was just a pass.. I got a distinction basically an A* .. I don't understand why people immediately magnet themselves to doing bands as an easy decision to work with, it actually very hard.. make things easier for yourselves guys, seriously you'll produce much better work.. save challenging yourself for when your not up against someone.

as in a signature? well I'll probably want to concentrate on the pixel battle atm, but i'll try make it into signature form for anyone who wants the end result.

dkjestrup asked for an electric guitar avatar, plain guitars aren't very interesting to pixel.. So I decided to make it into a giant guitar causing destruction in the streets : cheers Pureleader.. :XD: (oh didn't bother with strings would'a got in the way of the face..)

Im still here i've not retreated to another forum or anything i've just been relying on friends and work collegues to give me full thorough advice.. I don't think anyone here has ever totally deconstructed someone's work to the point of you might as well just start from square one.. I want to know exactly were I need to improve however harsh it may be, personally I want to be the best to my capabilities.. Well the main reason I've not posted any work here is because i've not had any work to be critiqued :anxious: Any work ive done recently is all stuff to large to simply post on a forum for crits, Im making an animation for a music video to be released in Febuary onto all music channels (if its successful that is).. And there's actual copyright laws I have to stick to, Im not allowed to post any of it on a forum. I thought I was a regular member of this forum.. I try to give full comments on work posted by others but all I hear is, where have ya gone Terley not seen you in ages... I think the style of this is great, makes a change from other self-avatars ive seen, my suggestion would be to use your existing shades to define the face more, raise the nose for instance.. generally add more depth, you don't have a solid light source, maybe you were going for multiple lighting? if so theres no reason to use the shades to build structure to the face, darker tones tend to push parts back and lighter tones raise it off the screen. I love the palette though, I'd just add a light greeny yellow colour for the back to let your AAing work better.. hope you don't mind a quick edit, :ohnoes: eckered is that you in your avvy? :lol:

remember this is not specialised as pixel art forum, people will say vague comments like 'it looks weird.. -_- ..', people will say 'omgz its perfect!' and you will get people saying exactly what you want to hear. Just, this is a forum, people have the right to say what they want and its up to you what you make of it. I've refrained from posting any work here for a while because I personally don't think I'd get the critisism I want (and lately ive been doing stuff that's not ready to show atall), I stay to be of use for others and to be apart of the community that I know. Don't get me wrong though, imput from this place can be great at times but there are few who are really in a position to give proffesional advice, Im at the age were im started to produce work for people, I am still learning so I need advice from those who know the subject well. I don't blame Godslayer for shunning your opinion if it leaves him at a dead-end thinking.. 'well I thought it looked fine, what could he possibly mean?' as at the end of the day it's personal opinion, he could change it to be perfect for you and then, someone else could have something else to say about it.. You can never get 'perfection'.. You know Godslayer has an attitude :lol: , i've learnt to see past that... But yeah, godslayer, lighten up. :shame: don't run off that's pathetic.. you've been getting great responses, don't hide whenever someone says something 'vague'..

you can only download (Graphics Gale) for a limited time only, you have to pay for the full version. For me it was only a 30 day free trial, im back to using paint. ill have a look at Paint.net. edit said Gimp instead of graphics gale.

on a pixel art based forum people there's been mass fad of making a portrait piece based on yourself, basically an avatar, its were I got the inspiration from for my avatar (only the inspiration, palette and all art was all my doing.), some vary in skill and style, yours somehow seems inspired by the fad, its really great that its not.. I like it.

the best pixel signature tutorial Ive seen here so far DH. people need a step by step on how to actually start and finish a pixel sig. I especially learned something because I've never used layering before. :wall:

I'd personally love to have a chance to play some of the old retro consoles again, in full working condition with all games. But today ill probably get a Wii.
