  1. Was PVPing last night.... yep, got the bug. There was a lvl 109 maging, so just for kicks I started attacking them. They kept binding, running, hitting, binding. About every 3rd bind would fail, allowing me to get close enough to hit. There was another lvl 110 with a G2H following us, I think they were friends. Since I wasn't getting many hits, I just used my G2H. When I was down to half an inventory of food (and dealt ~1700 xp in damage), I hit a 322. Unfortunately the guy was eating past half, so it didn't kill him. After that he teleblocked me, binded me, then ran a bit. As he was teleporting away, I managed to hit him (means he loses 25% EP). Moments later the lvl 110 started attacking me with his G2H. I wasn't worried, I had enough food to walk back to the bank (went from between the south-east varrock mine and the delrith ruins to the western bank). I told him he was a failure and kept walking. After refilling my inventory with food, I went back to the fountain area, and the lvl 109 mage started baiting me. Sometimes you have to laugh at stupid situations - here's a lvl 109 telling me exactly how awful at PKing I was, when he and his lvl 110 friend couldn't finish a lvl 96. Night was successful other than that, probably netted 400k in pking.

Try any in the redwall series? Might be aimed at kiddies in the 4th grade, but its fantasy, and there's a lot of them.
  3. And isn't Japan's suicide about twice as high as the mortality rate due to guns? That doesn't stop them from claiming #1 on the average longevity. There's probably about 10 different reasons I can think of that better explain life expectancy than the capitalism health-care nonsense in the OP.

Need suggestions for a political book. Read "Pinheads and Patriots" by Bill O'Reilly, reading "Arguing with Idiots" by Glenn Beck. Doesn't have to be conservative, just worthy of my time and money.... thought provoking.
  5. That 20-page thread seems to get much more attention than the sub-forum dedicated to programming... It also doesn't allow for dedicated discussion on a single subject. Anyhow, I'll try posting there first. Thanks.
  6. I wanted to make a thread asking for book suggestions, didn't know where to put it. Is there a place already ( ), and if not, why not?
  7. Do dinosaurs run TIF HQ  Of course they do. Duh. Right on. Yep, would love to visit TIF headquarters and their dinosaurs while on Mars.
  8. Do dinosaurs run TIF HQ
  9. http://www.businessweek.com/lifestyle/content/healthday/644294.html "Many patients with incurable cancer are still being screened for common cancers, although these tests are unlikely to provide any benefit, researchers from Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center in New York City have found." 6 months to live from your brain cancer, and we're going to make sure you don't have prostate or breast cancer. Lots of waste in the system, but I expected nothing less from Uncle Sam.
  10. Got 82 mining last night. Still want 85 before next year, will have to no-life it or something... Luckily I have two monitors, and mining is an easy skill to half pay attention. Now I just need to get a few decent movies or something. Also, did anyone notice the rocks change color more dramatically now? When did this happen?
  11. Mars, so I can meet a dinosaur.
  12. Where'd magekillr go....
  13. Hand check! Ah Pablo, where are your hands! On an equally serious note, I read a story some time ago. Just when it couldn't get any worse for the miners, there were two women at the mine site praying for the same dude. They both noticed each other. One was his wife, the other his lover. Cat fight of the century. I figure at least one of the miners doesn't want to surface. Being stuck in a hole might be better than facing your wife after she learns of your infidelity...
  14. I bet it was because he watched Al Gore's inconvenient truth Monday night, and started annoying everyone with it.
  15. You can do all that in Canada too :) If you have to pay for your treatment, it no longer is free. Will the Canadian Government foot the bill for the $93,000 it costs for provenge?
  16. You know what's great about America? We can chose to spend our money on anything we want. If you want cosmetic surgeries out the wazoo, you can get it done in America. If you want to spend nearly $100,000/year or more on cancer drugs, you can. Maybe that's the reason our medical costs are so high? Because we have more options for treatments, and wealthy people willing to shell out anything for a few extra months? Could you do that in a system that has free health care? I seriously doubt it. Let me know if you think otherwise.
  17. How about next time, instead of quoting two op-eps and citing them as fact, you provide your own source-able facts and draw your own conclusion. Did you know that the highest life-expectancy rate in the world is Japan, at 82.6 years? You know what we're at? 78.2. I skimmed over the bull you posted, and you neglect to mention what the actual obesity rate in the US is - 30.6%. Guess what Japan's is? 3.2%. If being miserable and eatting tofu nets me another 4.4 years, no way. I'd rather be happy for all my life than be miserable. I seriously doubt its the health-care system when there's a big fat fact you so conveniently ignored. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_countries_by_life_expectancy http://www.nationmaster.com/graph/hea_obe-health-obesity
  18. Wonder how a G2H would fare in clan wars. Its funny, actually, what people say when they see a G2H. When I'm in PvP, its "OMG you're risking a G2H? What a waste!" When I'm training somewhere, its "OMG G2H! What a waste! You should PVP with that." Apparently a G2H is just a waste.
  19. Or that area should try to be annexed by the city... so they can pay the city's taxes and receive city services. As it is, the fire station and police force have no jurisdiction in that area.
  20. Read somewhere that this same thing happened two years ago, in the same area. If I was a homeowner in that area, there's absolutely no way I'd miss paying that $75 fee.
  21. Get your sibling to make a level 3 account and have them AFK while you dung. Or a friend irl. Doesn't matter, they don't have to do anything.
  22. This fire department up until 20 years ago could not serve anyone outside the city limits. 20 years ago if this place caught fire, the entire neighborhood would catch too, and they would be nothing anyone could do about it. As it is right now, that county does not have fire protection. If they wanted it, they could have voted people in to make it happen. When people here say "the government should have done this or that," you fail to remember that the government is actually "We the people". If anything, that county should have formed a fire department a long time ago, but they didn't. Fire departments in America are a local thing, and I'm glad they are. It makes sure they're more efficient, because they have to answer to the people they serve. I read a story about the recent stimulus bill that gave everyone a $250 tax rebate. Guess what - Included in "everybody" were 72,000 dead people and about 15,000 convicts. If that's not waste, I don't know what is.
  23. You kidding me? I bet it was entirely the pets' fault that the double-wide caught fire. Those cats are always plotting, scheming.
  24. You might be looking at this the wrong way. The city could have decided not to extend coverage to people outside the limits, which is a perfectly reasonable thing to do. By asking for a mere $75, they're offering protections that individuals would not have had before - which also means that the fire could have spread to the rest of the neighborhood, and there would have been nothing anyone was able to do about it. The flip side of this is it also might have cause legislative inaction by the people in this county - they can get fire protection on the cheap without having to pay a tax for it. I refrain from saying they deserve to have their double-wide burned down and their four pets killed - nobody deserves that. But they were negligent in paying their fee, so their disaster was cause by their lack of responsibility, no more and no less.

You would the same as if you'd smother your child to put her out of her misery.
