  1. Just gonna address a couple I've seen across the thread. Metallica- America's answer to the much more talented (in my opinion) Iron Maiden. Metallica has great stuff. The thing is, they really went downhill fast. They haven't been good in twenty years, so if we are addressing how overrated they are nowadays, I can agree. But their older stuff is some of the best metal to rock out to. Red Hot Chili Peppers- I love Red Hot Chili Peppers. They are not rock, they just are all over the place. The vocalist is really good, but I can also see how people would dislike the nonsensical lyrics. I personally think Stadium Arcadium is one of the greatest albums I've ever heard. Guns N Roses- Again, Axl Rose's scratchy vocals are a turn off for a lot of people. But musically, they are very talented. They did some amazing songs throughout their career, though once again we look at their modern career and I can see why you would say their newer stuff is overrated. Coldplay- I agree. I like Clocks and that's it. AC/DC- God awful singer+ God awful lyrics and musical arrangements. I've never liked them. Evanescence- I will fully admit this was my first rock band I really got into. When I was ten, eleven, all I listened to was jazz and eighties pop. But Evanescence became one of my favorite bands. I love the vocals, and while a lot of their songs, I see nowadays, aren't really too exciting, they were still a very talented group. Pearl Jam- I own their greatest hits album because Jeremy and Even Flow are two of my favorite songs. They had some good songs before they became more...laid back. They kind of died out as a rock band and did their own thing which doesn't appeal to me at all. But their rock is great. Personally, I would put these bands down: Linkin Park- Despite the fact I like some of their songs, I think they are just way overrated. They got mainstream and they were suddenly singing crap rock for Transformers and such. I think they had potential but went a wrong way. Green Day- Their early stuff was great. Their new stuff is god awful. Do you know your enemy is the only song I've heard from them the past year or so and I thought it was awful.
  2. ^^^Nice avatar. Don Patch for the win. I played AVP yesterday. It's alright, but every one of the three characters has something broken about it. Aliens are the most broken of all... Bought Bad Company and Neverwinter Nights. Gonna play Neverwinter Nights this weekend, right before school starts. Always the best time to get addicted to an RPG... I've been playing Action 52 for my website at the moment. It's awful.
  3. Is Neverwinter Nights (the original) a worthy purchase? I saw it and enjoy dungeon crawlers and just wanted peoples opinions if anyones played it. I like dungeon games where you have to go around the map to make it expand, because then I go to every nook and cranny until the dungeon is complete.
  4. I've been trying to read Memories of Ice by Steven Erikson but after a week and 32 pages I guess I have found better things to do. It's been good so far though and his writing style is much better than his previous books in this one.
  5. Just because you saw some [bleep] on Fox give his messed up opinion on the country doesn't mean we're all like that. Saying that, you're no better than the people who oppose the building. I'm not saying all of America is like that. I'm saying that a lot of America is like that. Did I specifically say everyone was like that? No. I'm just saying that despite the fact you may not have the opinion of the protestors they are still the ones in the limelight. The people for the mosque are only saying that all they feel is hatred and racism. And when you take that and show it to radicals in Islam, guess who is in trouble? Despite the fact there are people who accept others, this debacle right here shows that overall, the whole country hasn't matured to conform to the ideals it so loves to shove in everyone's face. America has passed racism of blacks and asians though. Perhaps this is just another hurtle in our way toward becoming more accepting of people, just on a completely different scale and at a bad time. America, as a country, all together, is immature. And the most immature are the ones in the media, the ones spouting [cabbage] on TV. Ann Coulter for instance was on FOX a while ago spouting [cabbage] about how bad Muslims are. This is why America is so hated, because rational thought is lost in the media, repercussions are never thought of. The media as a whole is mostly the cause for this whole mess in the first place. Ever since the mosque's idea the media has talked about it day after day. If they had kept it under tabs, this would never have happened. It's both the media and the masses of people flocking to the cultural center (not a mosque mind you) to throw their hate. And when I say "America" I'm not saying everyone is like this. It's the collective stance of the masses. My mom was just telling me this morning how every Muslim should be killed in public if need be to get rid of them. Showing we (not everyone, the collective) are no better than the radicals that read the Koran, follow the fact that everyone but Muslims are infidels and can be slaughtered like cattle with no repercussions. We are no better than the people strapping C4 to their backs to become martyrs and achieve the greatest death you can have. We are the same breed. We are no better, no worse. And thus, this shows that everyone is equal in this world, but opinion takes over and religion is the major opinion that takes the cake generally, and wars start, killings start. And the sad fact is that most of these kids blowing themselves to bits in markets and subways were brainwashed since birth, maybe later, into doing this. The Koran was shoved down their throats. The Koran has not been updated in six, seven hundred years which is why Islam is not as up to date, why women are property and everything. But they cannot update it like Christianity. Thus this is another key factor into why they are the way they are. Basically, the media showing this footage of people who hate Muslims, who want to burn the Koran, is putting us on the level of the people in Islam who hate the Christians, and want to burn the bible. Once again, collectively America has people on both sides but as always, the media focuses on the negative and FOX is full of negative people. But this focus on the negative will bite everyone in the ass.

    Your first kiss.

I can safely say that my girlfriend freshman year hugged me a lot. But we never actually kissed.... I'm lucky to have gotten to date one girl my whole life just because I'm generally too busy on the computer. I have three friends. Two are man [bleep], one only dated one chick. And I am also of the latter. Thus, we even each other out. Plus I don't spend a lot of time at school talking to people or anything. If I have free time in class I'm reading. But I'm in all enriched as well and you can't find a cute chick in enriched for whatever reason. All the cute chicks are in basic classes and are dumb as a rock. High school is just a very complex place for an anti-social computer nerd like me. Hopefully this year I do better and end up with a GF...
  7. I watched Fox News last night and was pissed off. I see a stupid redneck at a podium declaring that because Muslims didn't sign the declaration of independence that makes them worthless. We are a Christian nation, thus the fact that we are well known for our acceptance of others and our "anyone can go from a nobody to a somebody" policy is worthless. Despite the fact Muslims didn't found the country, despite the fact we are a Christian nation, we still accept others. But because we are fighting the crazies of Islam, that means the doctors, the lawyers, the ones who aren't harming this country are bad. It shows everyone that America is racist and it's ideals are stupid facades for the fact we are intolerant of others. The mosque is two blocks away. People think it's being built right over Ground Zero and will have statues of Osama Bin Laden on it's grounds. It won't. And you know what I personally think? All this hate that is being spouted, all the stupidity of people who are self declared patriots (If you are then why don't you complain that there is no memorial of any sort at Ground Zero after nine [bleep]ing years?) is going to come back and bite America in the ass. This will be in the history books when America is nothing anymore. It will go down showing that we were a land of false ideals. But, even closer term problems I am sure will arise. Let's tell the Muslim's we hate them! Let's burn the Koran as some people in Florida I saw on the news are going to do September 11. Let's suddenly stand in front of the local mosque with picket signs. Let's show the fact that we love the country so much we want the terrorists to know we want a repeat of 9/11. Because that's what I think the effect of this is going to be. Another 9/11, something worse even. Because I am sure Osama and Al Queda are watching.
  8. Bless ye oh Omali my eternal lord and savior. You art my one and only God for without you the rants section would be a barely hospitable and rather unexciting place. Edgar Allen Poe would be proud. And then wonder what the hell this Runescape thing is and how it is at all applicable to his poem.
  9. Awakening was a pain in the ass to play if you bought the disc for PS3. Uninstall Origins, turn off internet. Reinstall origins. Install Awakening. Then turn on the internet and get the newest patch. Otherwise, this looks to be a lot more Mass Effecty. That's not a bad thing at all because I find Mass Effect's dialogue system much better than Origins. It's a definite buy for me though, Origins is my favorite RPG ever.
  10. Am I the only one who thinks that show is the worst example of parenting ever?
  11. My PC can't handle it. And I like smaller communities generally. Unreal Tournament still has 1100 players at a time usually, so it's a much tighter community. UT3 on PS3 is fun most definitely, I find vehicles much more bearable than in UT04. I hate warfare mode and wish it wouldn't be the only game the campaign wants you to play. I also wish the modding community on PS3 was bigger. If they had added modding creation tools to the actual game, it might have more players...Otherwise it's kinda boring playing the same maps over and over. The makers of UT3 have said they are putting a sequel on hold til' the future and focusing on newer IP's and such. They say that UT3 has such a big modding community that the game should stay fresh for years to come. Sadly, I ain't seeing it on console and the PS3 community is very small. I think it's way smaller than the original games community. I haven't seen PS+ getting any major updates over the free guys. PS+ at the moment nets you discounts on games and free games. Otherwise, they haven't implemented major updates. If an update like private chat is implemented, it will be a universal release.
  12. I can appreciate every update but the new font. I don't like it. Just the font for all kinds of stuff. It just doesn't look great...And I also don't really like how small the text in my info has become. And it's harder to tell if a thread has been updated since the text for the threads name on the page of threads is not lighter, it stays bold. Otherwise, loving all the new features. Great job Peter!
  13. Agreed. I would also add that Ghost In The Shell should be mentioned. Second one we can skip but the original should be thrown in. Back when anime had some very adult, very hard plots. Anymore, it's pretty boring fare. Akira kicked ass, I saw it when I was twelve and was blown away. Also, Spirited Away is a very good movie. I haven't seen any of Miyazaki's other movies, but Spirited Away was one of my favorites growing up.
  14. Goroh Majima from Yakuza is awesome. Otherwise I'd have to say every bad guy in MGS3. They were all so cool.
  15. I never used private chat when playing with friends on Live because I generally was playing with them already. I have very few friends with a PS3, let alone a headset, so I've never really cared about chatting. I just play games with them. I bought Unreal Tournament 3. It's actually pretty fun. I kick ass at it which makes it even better. After playing hundreds of hours of UT and UT2004 I'm glad I can beat everyone I play against my first time online, before even hitting up single player. Seriously, console UT players are lightweights apparently. Then again, it's been tested that PC gamers are better at online shooters than console gamers. I can't remember where I read about the test. The best console gamers against nooby PC gamers and PC gamers win. Adding to that, UT has such basic map sets. Most of the maps are the same format as a different looking map in a previous game. Take the first map for instance. Exact same format as previous two UT games, just with different stuff decorating it. Anybody with the game want to play tell me. I'm still playing the campaign, but I'll be trolling online pretty soon.
  16. Mass Effect 2 confirmed today to be coming out for PS3 January 2011 http://www.pcworld.com/article/203451/mass_effect_2_leaps_to_playstation_3.html?tk=hp_new
  17. Thank you for your educated input in this conversation. Just bought Far Cry 2. I've heard good things about it, and it has a map editor. Might be enjoyable.

    Jazz

http://www.pandora.com/#/ ^^^Use that then go down to the genre section. Click jazz. I listen to the smooth jazz essentials when I'm not in the mood for rock.
  19. Watched Live Free Or Die Hard. I thought it was pretty good. Very over the top.
  20. i saw the box office results earlier today, i was shocked expendables beat scott pilgrim. i saw both of them yesterday and scott pilgrim was great, it was witty and entertaining. in a few years the expendables will be on tv every saturday. I agree. It was a fun movie, but Expendables is something FOX will be playing every week eventually. Which I actually wouldn't mind because that final scene at the mansion was just so good...I was shaking of testosterone. I'm going to take a guess and say that Scott Pilgrim will be a cult classic. But who knows?
  21. The box office numbers have come in. 1. Expendables 2. Eat Pray Love 3. The Other Guys 4. Inception 5. Scott Pilgrim So I guess Scott Pilgrim is gonna turn into a niche movie, more a cult classic than a box office hit. For god's sake, it got beat out by Will Ferell and some random romance movie, and a movie that's been out for quite a few weeks. Maybe Expendables was at the top of everyone's list this week and next week everyone will head to see Scott Pilgrim. Expendables was a decent enough movie though and I don't think it deserves number one, but the fact it has so many action stars is the reason everyone and their brother went to see it. I personally thought that it would be one of the losers for the box office this week because it only had a certain appeal, but I saw a lot of people in the theater yesterday for it, old people, children (why their parents let them come is a question I can't answer), people dating. It has a wider appeal than Scott Pilgrim I guess, which is the opposite of what I thought. I thought Scott would have a much wider appeal to audiences.
  22. I would have thought Scott Pilgrim would do great in the box office since it has really broad appeal and is a decent date movie. Expendables isn't really a date movie (though for whatever reason, people found it a good idea to take their kids)... Then again, I'll admit, me and my friends go to the quiet theater on the north side while my dad thinks that by going to the theater at the bad part of town it's just as good as being at the good side. Never had a problem at the north side theater. The south side theater is where everyone yells, screams, jokes around, and is generally an idiot and ruins the movie for everyone else.
  23. It was alright. The beginning and middle was rather dull. But the final fight is akin to that at the end of Commando, I.E, my testosterone level went through the roof. It had some really crappy dialogue, and it was just terribly campy, but I thought it was overall an entertaining package. It wasn't as entertaining for me because two chicks were behind us and every time someone died (which was like 1000 times) they had to scream obscenities and disturb everyone's experience. I hate people who can't shut up during movies and either has to quip in to be funny or scream obscenities when people die to gain attention or because they are just the most loud and annoying people ever. I hate going to the movie theater. It's not worth it. You get the most annoying, idiotic people in there ruining the experience. Friday night I saw Scott Pilgrim and really enjoyed it. I think it is much better than The Expendables, and I also found I could enjoy it because no one was annoying the crap out of everyone in the theater. What happened to watchers who would be in the theater and tell people to shut the hell up when they scream and yell like they themselves are the ones in the fight scene getting shot at?
