  1. They go down, how you say, more often than a stripper's panties :P Yeah, this one mother was forcing her child to get her eyebrows waxed, even though she was crying and didn't want to. It reminds me of that scene from Bruno where they got parents willing to let their children dress up as a nazi pushing a jew into an oven just for a bit of money.
  2. Because it's my computer, and I want to use the software I like, not what Microsoft wants to force on me. On this topic, today I finally got sick of that that stupid windows update pop-up telling you windows needs to restart. I've already disabled the automatic restarts, but the pop-up itself still shows up every 4 hours. I'm pissed, so I go to close the process, and it keeps popping back up every 5 seconds. So I decide to try and delete the [Caution: Executable File] associated with the process (Probably a bad idea, I made a backup anyways), and I find out I don't have permission to. Apparently Microsoft decided the Admin of the system can't be trusted to delete files off their own computer, and assigned permission to all files in the System32 and other system folders to 'TrustedInstaller'. Basically, to delete the file, I had to kill the TrustedInstaller process, delete it from permissions before it popped back up, assign the permissions to me, and go through a bunch of warning messages. I am so mad right now, I am seriously considering switching to Linux.
  3. The 30+ million posts in the last 7 months would like to disagree with you.
  4. Summertime /b/ is just awful, full of summer[bleep]s who think the pinnacle of trolling is posting something wrong then shouting 'LULZ I TROLLZ U' when they get called out. During the rest of the year there is genuinely some good stuff if you sift through all the crap.
  5. I was. I still recommend the ASUS drive, though. Also, I didn't really take a look at anyone else's builds until just now. Askthedude's build is great, except I wouldn't get that PSU/RAM bundle. Cooler Master PSUs have a high failure rate, and you don't need 8GB of RAM. Didn´t even realise I´d put in 8Gb of RAM, my bad. Stick with 4 unless you´re a heavy photoshopper/VM user. PSU was a tricky choice as I was struggling to stick to budget in my first revisions... With the $100 left over you can easily take out the bundle and get a PSU, RAM and a case. Edit: Swap out the RAM for this. ACDC´s PSU should suit you fine, and that leave a decent amount for a case of your choice. Edit2: Managed a Sandy Bridge build in budget, should be much better than anything that´s not a top end AMD X4 or X6. Just pointing out that adding a copy of windows 7 and a case will bring him to $600+, when he stated that $500 is pushing it.

I have respect for the crowd of Turkish business owners who were beating back rioters with sticks.

That's really weird, because I was just thinking how your avatar looks like a bird with a retainer in it's beak.
  9. Make sure you have adblock plus, as a handful of flash or video ads will destroy your cap. Noscript might be even better, but I've never used it.
  10. I agree. Frankly, outside of the AOW the guides section of this forum is trash, filled with subpar video guides. I would fully support separating the general guides subforum into Video Guides and General Guides. EDIT: I think I'll post this in the forum updates and suggestions forum tomorrow.
  11. Well it must have strong bones then :P But yeah, get some compressed air and spray the fans and heatsinks out.
  12. I get unlimited 8mbps at home, and unlimited mobile data. Luckily I have a nice local provider I get mine from. Bell, Rogers and Shaw all have caps now though, and are trying to get the CTRC to force capped plans on the local providers.
  13. Comes in to a nice $509, plus $15 shipping if you live in Boston or Beverly Hills (I assume it's the same everywhere Continental US). The Rosewill case won a tomshardware small case award, and is $10 cheaper than the HAF 912. The DVD burner is the same one I have in my build, and I've never had a problem with it. The HDD is the same, the 500gb Caviar Blue. The motherboard is a Gigabyte, a very reliable brand, but is a microATX, so you're limited to 8gb RAM and one Graphics card. The PSU is an Antec 450w, more than enough for your build, and Antec is a very reliable brand. The RAM is 2 2gb sticks, coming in at only $25. The CPU is a Phenom II x4 945, with 4 cores running at 3ghz, and includes a heatsink. Finally, the Graphics Card is an XFX 6670, a slightly improved variant of the 5670 for a cheaper price, plus a $13 combo discount with the CPU. Windows 7 is included in the build; should you choose to use Linux you can cut the cost down by $100. If you want to save a bit more, you can downgrade to a Athlon x3 and save $20. EDIT: I forgot to sign in, so I can't link you to a wishlist without losing the cart, so if you want the links copy this text, paste in notepad, save as whatever.html, and open it. http://pastebin.com/7MBEuJpP
  14. Don't get me started on sapphire... I'm working on a build right now, I should be done in a bit.
  15. There are 2 sizes of standard mobos. MicroATX, which tend to only have 1 pair RAM sockets and 3 or so expansion ports; and ATX, which has 2 pairs of RAM sockets, 7 expansion slots, and more SATA and other ports. Of course there are other sizes, like mini-ATX, server boards, and a larger ATX which I believe is called ATX-L. I'll put a new build together for you tonight or tomorrow, and see if I can combo a few things down to get it to $500. One option is getting one of AMD's new llano processors, which has a HD 6550 integrated into the CPU. It won't give you the best graphics, but it could hold you over until you have some more to spend.

I love the default theme, it's the best forum theme I've seen. I can't stand white on black or black on white for extended periods of time.
  17. Your best bet would probably be a world like w44, since a large chunk of the server population is playing botting soul wars.
  18. I'm not sure about AMD, but the stock sink on my i7 came with the paste on it. I highly doubt the actual processor would come with paste on it though. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819103809 This is a better CPU for the same price, as an aftermarket heatsink isn't needed. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820148418 This memory is the more or less the same for $5 less http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813157176 This motherboard will save you $10, ASrock is ASUS's budget brand, but their quality is good. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817371045 Go for this PSU instead. Antec is one of the most reliable brands, and it's the same price as the Coolermaster one. You can save $15 with these changes, plus get a faster CPU and a more reliable PSU. If you want to cut out another $25, you could go with a cheap case, but the HAF line of cases are really nice (I have a HAF 932). I'd definitely change the RAM, PSU and CPU, the motherboard is up to you.
  19. I wonder if I'll be able to max BF3 on a single monitor with one 5830. I'll be pissed if I have to deal with sapphires [cabbage] customer support to get my second one repaired.
  20. Maybe it's because it's 4:20 in the morning, but I [bleep]ing lol'd hard at this.
  21. I now have 13371337 WC xp :D I haven't been playing that much lately, most of the time when I log on I just bankstand for a bit then log off. I did manage to get RC ranked at lv. 33, and bought up some supplies to sell off closer to bxpw, hopefully for a profit.

I just hit 13371337 Woodcutting xp tonight. Come to the dark side. Inb4 rsinmyot, gtfo, etc...
  23. I hate American spellings of words. It's centre, colour, armour, night, etc. Even worse is when Firefox tries to tell you you're spelling it wrong. Is there a way to change dictionaries? Short of just adding each proper spelling to the custom dictionary.
