cheap/good laptop able to run HD
Eh, I beg to differ, but to each their own. A few question before hand: Budget, how much are you willing to pay? Do you want a webcam? Is weight an issue? What about screen size and resolution? Are you looking for support, such as from a manufacturer like HP, Asus, Toshiba, etc? Or a better way to phrase this, are you tech savvy and/or enjoy troubleshooting your own issues? Any other specific features you must have? We could recommend laptops all day but I don't want to recommend something that you aren't going to use. Right now you're in the ballpark of below a desktop replacement and above a netbook, which is a pretty large category.

Time Travel, Possible or Not?
But you are going back before it is recorded so thus you can do it. Again if that rule of fate doesn't come into play. Anything you see today is a result that happened from the past. You going back in time would be included in the past so anything that you would do would end up as what we have today. Are we really getting anywhere with this "i'm right, you're wrong" stuff? Anyway back to the argument. Refer to my post that two possible events will have two possible outcomes. Lets take a more solid example: You go back in time and you kill baby Hitler. So because he is dead he still does what he would if he was alive? It's the grandfather paradox. The better question to ask is, "If this occurs, why don't the others occur instead?"

OS preference? OS X, Windows, Linux, etc? Is that the only thing you're looking for in a machine? To play Runescape High Definition or High Definition in general? Is there a specific place you want to buy it from? Online or in-store?

Getting a Laptop [UPDATE]
Would it be worth it to up the RAM and buy and external harddrive? Also, are laptops indeed cheaper nearer father's day? If you're considering upgrading to these model of laptops, I don't believe so. I doubt you're not going to use more than 3GB. I would consider an external HDD only to back up your data but I don't know how large you media collection is. I only have 1,000 songs which take up 1.25GB and then a few movies bumping the total up to 9GB. Prices do go down with certain companies. I know HP and Dell do deals that day but I never shopped at WalMart for my electronics. Regardless, prices on these laptops will go south about ~$100 between now and October especially considering that they aren't Core 2 Duos.

Suicide (Statistics, Philosophy, etc)
Life shouldn't be considered living if you're only living for fear of what others would do without you. Why is this ignorance? You would only fear what they would do without you if you were thinking about suicide Laura was arguing that worrying about the people you leave behind isn't a valid reason to keep going if that's the only thing holding you back Yes. If that's the only thing you have a second-thought for, you've been dead for awhile now.

I am going to buy a laptop, but from where?

Time Travel, Possible or Not?
Mass increases with velocity. This means there would need to be more and more force needed to keep accelerating, until an infinite amount of energy is needed to reach the speed of light. The only real way to go faster than the speed of light would be through a wormhole. Much like walking walking through a tunnel may be faster than running around the mountain. Which brings me back to the thing with the pen and paper. That's what I suggested in the last sentence; I wasn't suggesting that anything can go past the speed of light.

Getting a Laptop [UPDATE]
Here's a 17" (I was never a fan of 17", as they're borderline non-portable and usually have bad resolutions); it has pretty good reviews. Most say that it's heavy. :P Here's a 16" Toshiba. No reviews. :? Here's a 15.6" HP. One reviewer states that it has a fast draining battery. They all have decent GPUs/IGPs for RSHD/Paint.NET and dual cores for optimal processing. RAM exceeds 3GB in all models.

I've never dealt with them. Here's a forum where one users questions their company. I'll find another laptop.

Getting a Laptop [UPDATE]
Well, I found this one on the Walmart store. It looks like it would be decent for what you need. I've no idea on the battery life though. It has a low discrete graphics, more than enough for RSHD and Paint.NET. It has a 2.0Ghz processor, 4GB of DDR2 (can go up to 8GB), and 250GB HDD. You can have it shipped to your nearby Walmart store and pick it up there, but it's not available directly at the store.

Getting a Laptop [UPDATE]
What are you looking for in a laptop? A good battery life, or are you going to be near a plug all the time? Are you looking for a good support, as in, you're looking for buying straight from the manufacturer? Are you at all concerned about games? Do you need a discrete graphics card? Since you're holding media, I assuming you're wanting a large HDD. Is screen size important? What about weight? 4lbs-6lbs? Do you want a webcam? So far, it seems like a netbook could do what you're asking except for hold your music and run paint.NET well. Newegg has some great deals, and the one recommended above looks good, except the battery life is reported to be low.

How could life be better?
So the population [bleep]es even more and overpopulation becomes a bigger issue than it already is? The same goes for ending disease and war. These things are necessary. Well I could see the positive side to them being here, but now that I think about it, that would mean humans are giving up in the struggle against nature. I don't get it either. Yeah, it's witty but it doesn't make sense. That's like saying the best flavor of ice cream is nothing. If it's the animals they are talking about then I agree to an extent. Animals wouldn't have to suffer from human abuse but humans do good things for animals too. For example, dogs would probably be pretty lonely and bored creatures if they didn't have people to play with. Not really, as that would imply that you disliked ice cream. We wouldn't exist if there was no shortage of food. The result is the same except there is no concept of not living.

Ignosticism.

Time Travel, Possible or Not?
That's not time travel. That would make time travel going BACK in time only, which is impossible. No, but freezing isn't time travel. You're still feeling (for lack of a better word) the effects of time, you're just inhibiting the rate at which you decay.
-
Time Travel, Possible or Not?
That's not time travel. No, that's the gist of it. I made this picture: The blue/green object represents point A, and the red object represents object B. The black lines indicate this "crumpled" space while yellow represents light traveling around it. And finally purple represents the displacement of light. So, in theory then, should you take the purple route you would beat the yellow route and you could "see" events or objects that existed moments ago, depending on by how much you "beat" the yellow route.
-
Time Travel, Possible or Not?
You guys should Einstein's Theories of Relativity. Time travel is possible should something surpass the speed of c, light in a vacuum. In addition, it doesn't have to be faster than light, but travel a farther distance, or in this case, displacement.

0.999...=1 and why people believe it is false.
Which equation? It's just a set variable to represent a value. In the original post it's .999....

Help me please
The creators of viruses do it to boost their ego and affect as many users as possible. But this also cost money. Controlling 90% of the market, Windows is the obvious choice, you're correct. It's also because viruses can't do as significant damage on a Mac. The root files are not present at system idle. This goes a step further to prevent applications, changes, installations, or deletions of significant data, without the user password prompt. Does anyone know if Linux's root files are available at system idle on a user account? Am I right in figuring that since they're both UNIX this is true?

Texas talking about secession
Texas could never secede right now; it's just talking sensationalism to the next level.

0.999...=1 and why people believe it is false.
No, this is where I was having the problem. You're viewing .999... as a finite number. If you plug in .9999, the 5 gets sent back another decimal place. This continues and continues into infinity, so it's always .999.... You'll never reach the 5, thus 5=5 or .999...*5=1*5.

How could life be better?
It wouldn't even be called life then though. People refers to humans. But now that you mention it, life might be better without living. I agree, to a certain extent.

How could life be better?
Really? I'd remove the need to sleep. We'd get so much more done if we never had to sleep.Sleep finds you if you are deprived of it, food does not. If we didn't need to sleep we wouldn't get 'tired'. Obviously we would need to rest after running a mile or two but not sleep for the 1/3 of the day we already do. I think he was stating that it's more logical to choose food, as you can't be found without sleep under general circumstances. :P

Is a Macbook a good college laptop?
Purposely ignoring issues plaguing an entire model line and for scamming me out of $955.83. I just want a refund. The $20,000+ is for legal fees. It's a really long story, but that's the gist of it.
