You can also use a kitten if you don't want to grow it.I only got a kitten for that quest.

I don't think the drops are dependant on the combat level, that'd mean that only high levels can get drops like:visage,d legs,dragon claws,dragon full helms etc. With lower combat it takes you a longer time to kill the crawlers.

He means that you should put all the cages near a chinchompa respawn point.You should have a bow with cheap arrows(accumulator provides free steel arrows) or something like a bone c'bow with bone bolts.When it respawns, you have 2 chances, the chinchompa enters 1 of the traps or collapses the traps and runs away.If the chinchompa runs away, simply shoot it; this will force the chinchompa to respawn near your crates.

This isn't a "new why", it worked a long time ago also.If you played in an enclosed area,room or something and tried to tele after a while you'd get a random.
