09-Dec-2008 Achievement Diaries Hairstyles + PVP Improvement
The Hallelujah chorus played for a second in my mind when I saw updates...I can't even contain the joy I have at the moment. I can do every single one of the tasks. I will be basking in the glory of my first completed diary by tonight!

Ideas for the blackened map areas in upcoming content
Usually when there is a map update, they release a new map on the main site.

Slayer Points
That observation has already been made. See my post above.

Quests and experience
He or she doesn't have the necessary crafting experience. For all the helpers, you have to remember, he or she doesn't have high levels, so most of your suggested methods won't work for him or her!

Quests and experience
Ectofunctus takes too long for the 50% increase in exp when compare to POH with Gilded altar. The best way for this guy to level prayer would be; Complete all the prayer exp quests Then kill green dragons, sell the hides and bank the bones. Once you have enough cash and/or bonesgo to a POH with a gilded altar. Hill Giants are generally to busy and drop very little worth while items. Moss giants are much better as they drop more charms, are less busy and drop far better items. The cheapest way I can think with out killing a monster is to go to a really busy world, go to the kings training grounds and collect the big bones. 90% of the people there are power training and don't collect them. Mining power mine iron or granite. Crafting if you use the green dragons to level prayer craft the hides. You're assuming he has a gilded altar, which I don't think is flatpackable.

Gloves of Silence
It's worth it. They're not too expensive and you might have the levels to repair them or make your own (crafting, hunting).

Quests and experience
Crafting? Have you been keeping up with your daily sand from Bert and your daily seaweed purchases from Catherby. Then no doubt about it, glassmaking will get you there pretty quick. You'd have to tell me what quests you haven't done to see which ones you should do...list of skill levels helps (in other words, the ones highlighted in the quest calc that show you need to do them). Prayer...well, that's not easy...bury everything you come across, except dragons. Always grind 'em and worship at the ectofuntus or at the very least, use a chapel in your POH with the burners lit. I leveled it up by killing thousands of hill giants. If you get a near empty world, the one at the bottom of the cave is the best. Kill him (ranging or maging) and run to get the three regular bones spawns. Bring some runes and a fire staff and alch the stuff the monster drops and bury the big bones. You could also try "stealing" bones left by other players in a place known for lots of training. I usually do it if I'm training near them. If they show up on your screen, that means they left them there on purpose. good places for that (if you have the combat level to avoid being attacked) are the stronghold of safety and slayer dungeons.

Snape Grass
Depending on your skills and levels, you could house tele near rimmington and if you've done rocking out, bank at the deposit and run back...or use glory ammy or skills necklace. I usually cut a yew nearby and float on balloon to CW (wielding axe) and cut an oak to get back. That leaves you enough for 28 grass or a combo of grass and roots if you kill hobgobbies in between. Beast of burden is a good idea, too.

Is it worth it to pay a farmer to watch Yews?
Aha, that's actually a good idea. I pay for most of my crops, so I don't have to worry. I usually do my planting at the start of a round of playing unless it's trees, which I do at the end and pay so that next time I log on (the next day), it's usually ready. Your idea might actually be better, if I tried planting before a long playing time. In fact, I might not even pay for ANY of them. It could be a good timer for alerting for each "tick" and if I got lucky and the one I was "protecting" with the amulet got diseased, I could make a quick run to all of them and check 'em all.

Slayer Points
Doing tasks doesn't reset the count, but asking for the task reset from him will. I do four tasks at an easy slayer master, then bump up to the highest I can do for the fifth. It seems to work well (unless you want lots of slayer experience, because the lower slayer masters assign monsters that don't give as much experience, in general, with a few exceptions). I've actually stopped asking Sumona to assign monsters, too...I don't like that dungeon or her monsters.

Is it worth it to pay a farmer to watch Yews?
If all you plant is yews, does that mean that any one of them going diseased will alert your amulet? I don't understand. Unless you're saying that it tells you when it's ready to be cut down and the patch replanted. Binding that amulet to the patch doesn't work for ALL the tree patches, just one, right? So then you'd want to use your amulet to protect one that was not being watched after by a farmer. You pay to have 5 watched and bind the amulet to the other...right?

Slave Robes
Depends...do you want the dirty ones (the ones that "smell" upon examine?)...if so, I think the rowdy slaves are the ones you kill. If just for using in the desert, your best bet : Elidinis' clothing. Slave robes aren't too great for water conservation.

Which skill now?
Slayer can go with defence and if you get the right tasks, you'll get big bones or dragon bones which you can use to train prayer... Mining and smithing look a little low, so I might do that soon, up to level 60 in both at least... Cooking and fishing go hand in hand, so that's a good thing to switch off to if you get bored... I might start with fletching in your case...you can EASILY get up to yews with all those maples...once you get to yew, take a break from that and switch to firemaking, but make sure you get the ring of fire as soon as the edgeville beacon becomes available.

Is it worth it to pay a farmer to watch Yews?
I've been saving cactus spines for ages...if you HAVE to buy the cactus spines, then, probably not...with supercompost and if you're a few levels about 60 farming, you shouldn't lose TOO many or at least shouldn't lose enough to make it cost prohibitive. As for binding a patch to an amulet...isn't the amulet better served for a patch you DON'T pay to have looked after?

Ideas for the blackened map areas in upcoming content
If you can't follow it, don't read it? I mean, speculating such specific details is pointless, because I'm not a Jagex programmer. The fun is trying to imagine what those game planners will do with that space. To my knowledge, they haven't re-blacked any revealed space, so those ideas are based on a small amount of information that Jagex has confirmed (looking into a new city) and evidence in game (a new tunnel or cave near the blackened area near the wild). I know it's stream of consciousness...I pointed that out. My thoughts aren't any more valid or insightful than anyone elses, but it was supposed to get others thinking, wondering, speculating. Nothing fail about that...especially since I wasn't secretly wishing for this thread to blow up...not everyone posts with that singular goal in mind.

Ideas for the blackened map areas in upcoming content
I would say adding a new city should be dependent on the "black areas" left on the main map. A RuneScape forum mod thought adding a new city might be a good idea, so I posted my own ideas for one of those blackened map areas...a current "hole" in the map, which just so happens to be close to a new tunnel or cave that we don't have access to entering at the moment. Perhaps it could be the entrance to a new evil city under the earth...or an above the ground icy city where people have just discovered fire and mining which allows them to do some elementary tunnelling down to link up to dwarven tunnels, slayer or monster tunnels, with access to places like Keldagrim (since those dwarves have been doing some digging), and new items and skill training. Here's some thoughts, but it's only one idea. I'd like to see some ideas on the southeastern and southwestern deserts, south of phasmatys, southwest of piscatoris and north of priffdinnas, or even a new island. Something that sticks out to me is the area west of the wilderness and north of the icy path. A frozen city would be interesting, with some icy weapons and ice block mining and crafting? The stuff could melt if you bring it out of the area? You'd need heavy pelts to survive...a quest to access it (or maybe the new cave tunnel south of the chapel in the northwest portion of the wilderness?)..."friendly" ice warriors and ice giants...ice fishing with new catchable fish...a new icy farming patch, exclusively for a new special growable item...or even something like "growing icicles" or something? A cave for new slayer creatures with access to the troll area with sufficient agility level? Probably not a new mini-game, at least right away, since they just released stealing creation...a new teleport fairy ring code...it could be a place for a new guild...not summoning...not woodcutting (although pines and evergreens could be found)...a bank would be great (as it would become an outpost for the upper wilderness treks)...maybe that's where the winter special holiday events could hold Santa...perhaps it could be the place where a firemaking guild begins (thanks to the guy that wanders about south of the seers village?)...the only other one I could think of would be an actual smithing guild (to rival the mining guild) where NPCs reveal the secrets of digging through the earth (I guess it could tie into the dwarves, since you could also access their city of Keldagrim through the underground?)...I don't know...just some random thoughts...stream of consciousness-style...I like the ideas I'm coming up with though!

P2P Quests to do?
Monkey Madness also gives access to things like cutting teaks and mahogany logs without being attacked (with a gree gree). Recipe for Disaster is a must start, too. Some quests are needed for access to mini-games that are fun and useful (like Burgh de Rott Ramble and Temple Trekking). If just joining, train agility as quickly as possible! It helps a TON. Also, later on you'll want to do As a First Resort for access to the pools (temporary unlimited run) and Grand Tree for access to the spirit trees. Swept Away gives a free teleport device to a mini-game in Al Kharid area.

Random Event - Dr. Jekyll tip/idea for research
In the Random Event for Dr. Jekyll, he always seems to ask for the highest herb you have in your inventory or a guam leaf if you only have guam or no herb at all. I've found that if I'm lucky enough to be near a bank, I can alter what he's asking for by grabbing a higher level leaf. I haven't tried with a grimy version yet, but the higher quality leaf you seem to give him, the better the potion you seem to get in return. Giving him a toadflax herb today got me a 4 dose defense potion, whereas in the past, guam leafs seem to result in 3 or 4 dose attack or strength potions (I can't remember which) while talking through the options with him with no leaf seems to result in a two dose strength or attack (again, can't remember which). If someone else gets this event, you can talk with him briefly, but run away before giving him an herb or telling him you don't have one, then if you're close enough to a bank, run and get a toadflax, and see what you get. If it's a 4 dose defense, then perhaps that's what you get from that herb. I seem to remember that I've received a 1 dose super defence. I can't remember what leaf it was Has anyone done their own research? Perhaps we can get a bunch of people to start testing this from the lower level herbs, up with two at each herb, to confirm whether it's random. It might not be completely random even then...it might be a random range depending on different herbs. EDIT: I did a web search and it seems that some other sites have done their own research. I still think this is worth mentioning on the tip.it site, especially since I figured a little of it out without resorting to plagiarizing. If we did our own research, then it wouldn't be plagiarizing anyway, right?

good place/world to cut yews
You only have to do the quest to get access to the bank, but not to cut the trees. If you don't do the quest, the nearest bank is Zanaris or Grand Tree, via the Fairy Ring or the Glider...depending on which one of those quests you've completed and then prefer using. I wouldn't rely on Euc prices though...yews are more abundant.

Hazelmere's Scroll
I thought this might be either a nice addition or something to use to transcribe for the notes section on this item. The bank image and examine notes... If this is something that is well-known to be useless for any and all reasons, I'll get rid of the item. I've just kept it because I wasn't really sure and it doesn't have a destroy option....only drop.

Meeting Notes
I thought this might be either a nice addition or something to use to transcribe for the notes section on this item. The blanked out portion is to both "hide" my name while allowing anyone to "fill in those blanks" by whichever name they use and company they choose. The bank image and examine notes... If this is something that is well-known to be useless for any and all reasons, I'll get rid of the item. I've just kept it because I wasn't really sure and it doesn't have a destroy option....only drop.

You would put it in the general website updates and corrections topic list, but this update has already been suggested.

Antifire potion warning - Metal Dragon guide etc
It looks like that Iron/Steel Dragon guide needs a slight tweak to that tactics portion about the antifire potion. [hide=FIXED]Has the "As Guthix Sleeps" been changed to "While Guthix Sleeps" yet? (I wonder if it is a gentle nod to "While My Guitar Gently Weeps")[/hide]
