As said, the problem is since he's not allowed to open the case, he can't install a new GPU to begin with (at least until christmas), leaving effectively 0 other solutions.

Well done? I like the way you make it sound like a once-in-a-lifetime experience. :? I've lived my whole life around Muslims. Can't say any more than two of them ever stated that they "hate" Christians or Christianity, and they were both general idiots anyway without the religious side. I imagine they only "hated" Christians to fit in with their adolescent hard image (they acted like right gangsta wannabes). God is ultimately the same entity as Allah, it doesn't make sense to rubbish all Christian beliefs when the fundamentals are basically the same. Incidently, I've not heard of anything in Sharia Law which states all Muslims must hate Christianity. This 'lack of respect' for each other seems to be a myth perpetuated by the extremists in both religions. Hell, even the Pope accepts Allah and God are the same entity, and Muslims and Christians should work to repair the wounds in relations between the two religions made over the last few years thanks to the 9/11 attacks and the occupations of Afghanistan and Iraq. They are not the same "entity" or "concept"; Allah is literally the arabic word for "God" (which comes from the german word for deity, "Gott") and Yahweh in hebrew. They are completely interchangeable with each other and mean the same thing. All 3 words have been used prior to organised religion in a pagan context in their own languages for thousands of years. I just laugh every time some racist or islamophobic person mentions how "allah sucks" or "allah is a terrorist". Maybe it's about time these idiots realize God, Yahweh and Allah mean the exactly same deity, in their own respective languages. They are not separate gods. Jews, muslims and christians worship the same god. Christians in Israel refer to God as Yahweh. Christians in Lebanon refer to God as Allah. Christians in germanic-speaking countries refer to him as God. I only mentioned christians because they are usually the ones mocking islam or trying to make fun of it.

The current RSC world is way too big for 100-400 active *total* players (the likely amount if RSC was suddenly brought back. Even currently, both servers have about 50 people online at a time. To make the game even slightly reasonable, the maps would have to be tweaked to what they were in about 2001-2002; Small enough to make the game interesting for a small group of people. I don't see any other reason prohibiting Jagex from profiting from an old game (just like Blizzard still profits from Diablo I, which is a 11-year old game, by upkeeping it's battle.net services; There are still a few hundred people in the world buying the game every day). The only obstacles would be the ones Hohto mentioned: Customer/billing support, & on top of that, keeping macroers in check. A lot of you are forgetting why the 6-month rule was eventually added after the versions split: Autominers/other bot users. At best, Jagex could offer a service that guarantees no CS whatsoever, and playing against botters at your own risk. (To me and a lot of players, that'd be enough for nostalgia's sake, but a headache for other players who want an honest & smooth gaming experience)

Black Friday... (Post your deals you find here)
BlueLancer replied to WutangFlu's topic in Off-Topic
It's just another day as far as most people are concerned. At least in western countries, shopping, leisure and working patterns aren't dictated by 'occassions' anymore. There are people working on christmas eve and sundays, people spending vacations in the middle of March, etc. It would suck to work on New Year's eve though, given all the free events and fireworks available you could enjoy with friends and family. Europeans can never reap the fruits of special deals though :P Very rarely do any online companies offer free shipping to EU countries. So the $29.99 will become $60 after shipping at worst. -
 Gas here went over a Euro a liter 5 or so years ago. This summer it got up to about 1.57/L (Americans: Around 11$-12$/Gallon), gas is extremely cheap in America and always has been. Which is why next to nobody drives huge SUV's and Hummer's to work and their kids soccer practice in Europe. It's just hilarious when people complain of expensive gas if it's around $2-$4 per gallon, when Europeans paid up to $12-13 per gallon this summer. Due to politics, USA gets extremely cheap consumer petrol compared to other industrialized nations. If gas cost anywhere near the European level, even $10 per gallon, it would probably start a civil war  America imports almost all of it's oil, it has nothing to do with that. It's pure politics and supplier agreements in the OPEC that the US has rushed through with military threats and cold-war era deals. Europe is in the direct vicinity of the middle-east, yet it pays up to 3-4x more for gas despite having the refining capacity as well. Taxation plays a big part too.

I was born with blue, changed once during a high-school Halloween party to a yellowish-green  I guess contacts can look a bit unnatural, depending on the quality (mine certainly did). Maybe if you wanted a professional touch, the lenses could have a simulated saw-pattern black iris around the colour part. Those probably cost more though, but if you wanted to create a sort of new identity, it could be worth it.

Tis true, god the justice system is so [developmentally delayed] in some ways, but I would go to jail if I was trying to save my spouse or child tbh. Didn't mean it like that... The point is you can always work to get more money. In many cases, a robber is dumb & gets caught and you get the property back & possibly even damages paid for by the criminal. However, you can *never* recover a human life if you choose to kill someone. That's why it's "excessive" use of force. An LCD television is not worth more than a human life, no matter if he's trying to take it by force from you. Of course I would shoot a robber if he was trying to harm my kids (if I had any) or my friends, and go to jail for that... But not over material possessions. There is a reason why even banks instruct the tellers to comply with robber's demands instead of trying to play hero. First of all, the money is federally insured. Second of all, it's just paper. Even if the robber gets away with $200k in cash, at least the customers and clerks stayed alive. There are tracking devices, dye packs, satellites that can trace amateur robbers and sometimes the entire loot can be recovered & the robber put behind bars for a decade or more. I think it's a case of distorted values if a single item is placed as more valuable than a life. This kind of thinking just doesn't exist widely in any other western nation than the US.

Wont comment on the murder amount; Those statistics were from 2004 and there is virtually no difference. Over half of the murders are still being committed with a handgun. 15,000 murders per year is still unnormal for a western country (for another comparison, Germany has 82 million people, roughly 1/3rd of the US, and it has under 800 murders per year) http://news.independent.co.uk/world/ame ... 786806.ece Not even sure if that's sarcasm or a straight out insult. There are countless hunters and game animals in Japan, it's extremely ignorant to say there isn't "anybody in Japan that hunts". Hunters in Japan are free to own shotguns and hunting rifles after passing the licensing test. The ban only extends to handguns which have practically no other real use than killing another human by a portable and concealable firearm I take it you have never heard of the Yakuza which is one of the largest organized crime groups in the world right after italian mafiosi and russian mobsters. Again, it's totally ridiculous to say they just aren't the "crime type". The Yakuza even has popular support amongst the conservative elements of society. There are over 100,000 members of the Yakuza alone in Japan not including other organised crime groups http://www.yamasa.org/acjs/network/engl ... se_12.html (compared to USA with 30,000 of various groups) I for one don't support the "banning" of guns. Just ban the ones that serve absolutely zero practical purposes such as .50c rifles and handguns. (Or make them available at shooting clubs for fun purposes) You can't get away with that in *any* country of the world, bar maybe some states in the US. It's called excessive use of force in court and you will almost definitely get a life prison term for killing a robber with a handgun. Refer to this for example; The person wasn't even using a gun but a sword to protect himself from a robber, and stabbed him to death: http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/uk_news/england/3561555.stm It's amazing how some people forget material possessions can be recovered, a human life can't. You *will* go to prison in almost all cases if you kill a robber in a western country.

The problem is he's not allowed to open the case at all (and you're right Joe, it turns out Presario F700 is a laptop series), which excludes any kind of RAM, graphics chip or processor upgrade. That effectively limits the possible solutions to either downgrading the OS, updating drivers or just diagnosing what kind of games you can even play in the first place. There is no software-related solution to a problem which stems from lack of proper hardware.
-
Dang, I'd say your card definitely utilizes mostly virtual memory, and it's an integrated chip I wouldn't really attempt playing newest games on it. However, if you simply have no other option & are stuck with that hardware, you can also run 3Dmark and see how high your PC scores. It's the ultimate tool for grading computer performance, especially for gaming, it will diagnose far better than any manual check that can be done over this forum. The general score will give a hint on if there is anything you can do at all (such as upgrade the nVidia gfx drivers) or if it's simply not suitable for proper gaming.

I don't like prostitution. I despise racists and neo-nazis (pardon for Godwin's law here). I despise the man running the Westboro church. Nothing can be illegal in a free country based on "dislike". As long as nobody is physically hurt and there are no direct consequences, it can't be illegal. Likewise, if someone posts racist commentary on tip.it, it doesn't really matter how despicable the opinion is or how much I personally hate him, if he isn't directly making an insult or threat towards anyone. He still has the right to free speech and expression, so there is no basis I could delete those posts on. Some women want to be involved with prostitution, due to the high earnings. There is absolutely no way around that. Think it was your own daughter working as a prostitute. You can disown her, tell her it's dishonourable (as would I) but you have no legal right to restrict her actions if there are no victims in the process & the proper taxes are paid. She has the right to engage in any business transaction which has been legalised. I wouldn't encourage any female person to degrade themselves by offering their body for sale, but from a realistic viewpoint, I can't blame the ones opting to work for legal brothels and earning massive amounts of cash per week instead of working a dead-end job at some fastfood joint.

Uuh, no, I don't see how "horribly" it works. You still haven't provided a single statistic that says people would somehow be safer without the means to protect themselves. People in Europe and every other continent can still protect themselves; By an effective police force. America is paying a steep price for unlimited gun access, if one country having more murders than all other western countries combined isn't "horrible", I don't know what is.. Every other civilized nation can uphold their constitutional rights and freedoms without massive proliferation of weapons. Nordic countries as a good example have extremely strict gun laws; They have the least income disparity, most civil rights, haven't been involved wars for over 200 years (bar being manned or attacked by hostile nations, namely Russia and Nazi Germany) The "government" isn't an ugly monster which is willing to kill millions of it's own citizens should unrest arise. Soldiers are made up of citizens. In the event of significant unrest/riots, western governments don't authorize the killing of their own citizens. The perfect example of this is the Orange Revolution in Ukraine that happened just three years ago: This may come as a surprise to some americans, but you don't need assault rifles and handguns to uphold your rights. If enough people agree that change has to be made through force, you wont be fighting against your own military or "other groups" through the usage of weapons. By taking actions such as organising general strikes & paralyzing the government, essentially denying it tax money and all society's functions, the people hold the power like in Ukraine. It has absolutely nothing to do with guaranteeing your rights with guns. Western societies don't work in any way like Somalia, Uganda or Gaza. I and my family own 3 firearms, I recieved 15-month military training in 1998 & handled weapons in Kosovo and searched for arms caches serving 1999-2000 with UNMIK while your generation was likely still in school. I hope this doesn't have to go to personal/ad-hominem attacks (I posted an incorrect image on page 1, haven't slept due to multiple scammers creating accounts to steal accounts here) P.S. 9mm is considered high-caliber handgun in most countries, you can't even obtain permits for .50cal

Your stance and belief on the Paranormal/Psychics/ECT
BlueLancer replied to NoMoreDead's topic in Off-Topic
Some paranormal-believers just debunk James Randi as being biased and scared of the truth, which is hilarious if you actually reviewed some of the applicants. The money will be paid out if somebody can actually demonstrate their supernatural skills or "abilities" in double blind testing and with precise computer technology. None of the applicants ever succeed in reading a sealed letter's contents, using telepathy or whatever they claim to do, once actually being tested. The sad thing is, these conmen and -women can go for years and scam people out of their money by 'supernatural' feats or fortunetelling, while doing nothing at all in reality. I'd go as far as saying some of them are delusional and detached from reality for even participating in the $1M challenge, because deep down they must've known beforehand that they really had no abilities to begin with. -
I think the crime statistics in the US alone speak for themselves (refer to page 1 for statistics on the US, which commits the most firearms-related murders in the western industrialized world)... Hunting rifles should be allowed by law though, because they are hard/impossible to conceal and have a legitimate use. Game animals *have* to have their populations kept in check by season hunting to prevent overpopulation. I'd strictly oppose banning weapons like Remington hunting rifles. Target shooting? .22's that have to be kept at the shooting club like in many other countries would suffice just fine Gun crime isn't being committed by 'reasonable' weapons. The weapons that are abused are high-caliber concealable handguns that no civilian has the business to carry in private "just because". It's a statistical inevitability that out of the millions of handguns licensed legally, tens thousands of those guns will (and have already) leak to the black market or wrong hands if people get involved in crime, get sudden debts to pay off, etc. This is exactly what is happening all over America in states with loose gun laws which practically permit anyone to have a firearm: http://www.usatoday.com/news/nation/200 ... pons_x.htm Loose gun laws work against it's own purpose that the NRA keeps repeating, "safety for private citizens"... If anything, loose gun laws have repeatedly been proven to decrease safety and accelerate violent crime and arms trafficking from loose states to tight ones.

Try muslims in countries like Bosnia; They drink beer and whiskey, they gamble at casinos and card tables, a majority of them look as caucasian as an englishman or german, wear european and american clothing, don't even know they have to pray 5 times a day... Some even eat pork. I visited the country multiple times and spent months there; Liberal muslims exist just as liberal christians do. They are members of their religion nominally just as christians who force themselves to christmas mass once per year; Other than that, they have little to do with the culture or customs surrounding it. The farther you go in the middle-east & the poorer and more oppressive the country, the more conservative intepretations of the religion and Qur'an you will find

That's why the US has over 16,000 gun-related murders per year, more than all other western industrialized nations combined http://www.ojp.usdoj.gov/bjs/guns.htm (66% of US murders are committed with a firearm, compared to 1-5% in other western nations) In Scandinavian and most European countries, you have to declare a reason for owning a firearm before gaining a license. "Self-protection" or "fun" are not reasons to own 9mm hand guns and assault rifles. In countries such as Japan, a civilian cannot even own a firearm. Compare the armed robbery statistics between Japan which has roughly 140 million people, and USA which has 300 million people: Having a firearm just because of 300-year old laws that were intended to protect colonialists from the English isn't an actual "reason". Of course, it's legally unrestricted, but you can see how horribly it works in reality. USA has more crime, murders and prisoners than any industrialized nation [2]

Not a big fan of prostitution, but at least in the US, the above isn't true at all. You will be hard pressed to find any serious concentration of crime or drugs near the brothels itself such as in the state of Nevada. They operate as professional businesses that pay taxes, they don't accept employees with STD's or drug problems. The workers also have to apply for the jobs like with any other business. Illegal brothels are a small niche and are a problem of it's own, which have absolutely nothing to do with the legal operations run in the US, and some other countries such as the Netherlands and Germany which have legalised brothels. They have strict standards and are subject to frequent checks and raids by the police for accounting fraud or other crime.

A weapon such as the Desert Eagle uses .50 caliber ammunition (with the exception of some low-production models with lesser calibers). There is absolutely no rational or logical excuse for owning one as a private citizen for any purpose except as a collector's item/in a museum. Here's a pretty good comparison of ammunition sizes. The far right one is the .50cal ammunition such a weapon uses [hide=][/hide] Please, even a single reason for a citizen to own one. People claim it's for target shooting and hunting which sounds a bit far fetched considering the giant recoil

Well, definitely not in the USA: http://www.nimh.nih.gov/health/publicat ... rica.shtml Every fourth adult person in a society suffering from mental illnesses can't be the sign of a healthy and reasonable society. It's more of a warning sign the society is becoming more & more disrespectful, sick and perverse, and it's obviously overwhelming to some people. Depression and mental illnesses are the most common reasons of early retirement and cost massive amounts of money to the society they live in. Europe isn't really any better, with almost exactly the same amount of population suffering from mental illness http://ec.europa.eu/health/ph_determina ... _gp_en.pdf The figures are staggeringly lower in Asian cultures which have more emphasis on family and conservative values, the same formula can be seen everywhere where traditional values have the most influence such as Italy; it directly translates to lower statistical probability of mental illness. Mental illness in African countries is also extremely low, and almost non-existent in some countries. I don't necessarily support very conservative values. But it's obvious that raising a child traditionally, caring about him/her and teaching the kid responsibility/caring about others directly leads to a lesser chance of the kid becoming depressed, outcast, suicidal, etc.

I'm strongly assuming the part you quoted are the system requirements for GH - in which case you can see it's already lacking 1000mb in RAM to play smoothly on Vista. It's also highly likely that the integrated graphics card that was included with your PC is a weak one - HP doesn't have a long standing reputation of using top notch hardware with prebuilt home computers (which are mostly for office use). If you can Start->Run->type dxdiag -> Select display -> Paste the information or screenshot here, it could be helpful once you've determined the kind of graphics chip you have & how much memory it has. A good starting point is that if it *only* has virtual memory, it's not good for playing most games. The screen should look somewhat like this (pasted from my laptop) [hide=][/hide]

I don't particularly like Korn, but as said above, they are different in the sense that they actually have some meaningful and well-placed lyrics, sometimes criticizing society, maybe human vanity, either way, they make a point. I don't listen to music for the lyrics, but sometimes they matter. For example, Dimmu Borgir has some very good melodic/death metal songs, then they went ahead & ruined them with crappy satanist lyrics and immature screaming in the middle that sounds like a spotty teen being punctured with needles. Balance please.

average java cpu usage while on runescape
BlueLancer replied to kyle14710's topic in Tech and Computers
Runescape is almost exclusively dependent on CPU-processing power, in the past with no antialiasing or special effects available, it was 100% dependent. Java as an executable programming language is very heavy on a processor, much more so than C++ games (pretty much any .exe game you have played, such as World of Warcraft) that make numerous calls to DirectX, OpenGL, private DLL's and the graphics card chip and it's drivers to operate. Runescape, unlike those other games, utilizes nothing except raw CPU power for animation, movement, drawing landscapes, etc., unless you play in higher detail. You can decrease the processor load by selecting higher anti-alias and other effects in the menu. This will shift a lot of the workload on your gfx card & drivers. If you have a weak card though, this wont help & you will be slowed down further. The bottom line is that due to the language RS is programmed in, the CPU load will always stay high regardless of your configurations or powerful hardware. -
Probably wont be common for maybe another 2 years, internet speeds in general aren't *that* fast even in western countries. Japan and South Korea will likely get the first HD-on demand streaming vids from sites like Youtube, because their average consumer connections near the 30mb/s mark with up to 250mb/s available. Most europeans and americans browse with 1-5mb/s which is actually pretty horrible for high-quality content. General rule of thumb: If it takes you longer to load a video than to actually play it, you don't have enough speed for enjoyable viewing (it will pause every 10 seconds to buffer which disrupts the playback and is annoying)
