  1. PSSSSSSSSSSST. Creationism's been around for ten thousand years. Not in a written form, although it comes somewhat close to the timeframe you mentioned. Earliest egyptian hieroglyphs that far outdate biblical, islamic or buddhist scripture were written 3200 BC which is over 5,000 years ago, and they often concern their local gods and descriptions on how the world was made/how gods should be worshipped. In an oral form amongst primitive tribes the idea has probably been around for as long as humans have been able to communicate with each other (cave paintings and archaeologic evidence of rituals, sacrifices etc. support this) Albert Einstein explained the phenomena pretty thoroughly The problem is, only proven and useful things matter in reality and the world. When you get an education at school, you can't write your personal opinion to answer a question demanding a logical and objective answer. If you refuse to believe easily proven scientific theories and facts and select religious mythology, you can't really graduate from most colleges or universities (bar religious schools or Koran colleges) Not sure how many times it has to be repeated, but accepting scientific facts doesn't mean you can't be religious. There are countless religious scientists both in the present and history.
  2. Despite how horrible/hilarious the bad modification is, öike pryomancer said, you really don't have any right to use a ripped image.
  3. It has been discouraged for a long time, but for a few years now, it has actually been against Jagex rules, even if you own both the accounts and passes. Please don't re-post messages on this subject because tip.it has to adhere to the rules Jagex Inc. has set Cro: Vise nije mogucno da se menja stvari ili GP medju 2 svojog igraca/charactera, i ako si napravijo obo dvoje i imas tajni rec.
  4. Evolution can't be, and isn't, in any way classified as an "opinion". As a scientific theory, evolution in human beings, plants, animals is proven beyond doubt. You will literally fail your science or biology classes in school if you refuse to acknowledge basic tenants of advanced science. In no way does scientific evidence about the world conflict with most religious views. I hate to quote the pope Benedict again, but that kind of thinking is "absurd" and absolutely irrational. There is nothing opinionated or unproven about evolution, you are misunderstanding the term scientific 'theory' (in which 'theory' does not mean a hunch or guess like already explained multiple pages back) Gravity is not an opinion. The Earth being round is not an opinion. Evolution in living organisms is not an opinion. Preferring to eat apples over oranges, or liking the color blue over the color red is an opinion. Perhaps you're misunderstanding what 'opinion' refers to. Here is the definition of fact if you were wondering, which is the polar opposite of an opinion or belief: http://books.nap.edu/openbook.php?recor ... 87&page=56

    how old?

Question answered (refer to Quoi_Tu's reply for the most correct answer). Unless you look really young, as a rule of thumb you will never be asked for photo ID for movies rated under R. You can also be accompanied by an adult (or in some jurisdictions, a person aged 16+) to a PG-13 movie even if you are a few years under the age limit.
  6. I like the pope, the pope smokes dope. Such a phrase is too cool to be untrue. The Pope is the most conservative religious figure on Earth and represents roughly 25% of the world population's religious views (not including the rest 8% of non-catholics). Try reading his statement again in light of this.
  7. With necessary respect due, americans are excluding themselves from the rest of the world and becoming delusional when it comes to education (the state of the public school systems doesn't help either). In no other western country is it actually disputed which should be taught in school; Evolution or creationism, as if they are two interchangeable. (Poland and Germany could be seen as exceptions) The other deals with mythological philosophy, while the other is a scientific theory with conclusive evidence, historical records and facts that are accepted by every major scientific organisation and regulating body in the world. Try figuring out which one is which. Those 2 don't necessarily have to conflict if you conclude evolution is simply a tool a God used for shaping the world; That's fine. These theories belong in the religion class though; Not science. I don't think it can be summed up any more simpler: You can still be religious and support evolution. You can support evolution and not be religious. The two are not "enemies" or separate 'beliefs'. The two don't conflict in any way, even the Vatican agrees: Please, stop kidding yourselves. Even the Pope seems to have more common sense than american creationists.
  8. After frequenting the tech forum for years, I wouldn't really want to spread false information, all three i7 processors are currently quad-core even according to Intel: http://www.intel.com/pressroom/archive/ ... 11comp.htm As Joe said, they are "practically" 8-core;with hyperthreading. They are still quadcore processors, so maybe your teacher was confused on the subject. All of the Nehelam models released yesterday are quads with no mention of six cored processors

Ok, that argument does have some weight because there are consequences to smoking, and they still continued to ignore them. That still doesn't mean their lives were nothing/they made nothing out of themselves. When a person dies, he's not making 'space' for anyone. We're pretty stretched on resources, but a lot of people can still be born in most countries without having to face instant starvation (like in some african countries). Every day, about 350,000 people are born, and some 150,000 die, according to CIA factbook. Human population will continue to rise in numbers despite economic hardships or lack of resources (if anything, most people are actually born in poor and low-educated areas), it's pretty harsh to judge who has the right to live & who doesn't.
  10. Foreign import cars get up to 300,000-500k kilometers (way past 200k miles), while american made cars are usually dumped and not even considered for resale after a measly 100k kilometers. If you at first browsed European car classifieds, you'd probably first think the buyers must be idiots for buying cars with so much mileage. That's not the case at all; The motors are much more endurable especially when it comes to a german BMW/Mercedes and many other EU-manufactured and Japanese cars. Not to mention, nearly all foreign cars, even the upscale ones, are manual. New american cars are almost without exception automatic. Automatic gears have multiple issues when it comes to car longevity: [*:19gtcbsp]Automatic gearing creates extreme heat which must be dispersed [*:19gtcbsp]The cooling system works overtime, the engine will run hotter, the cooling fans work harder, which is horrible if you want a car that will last long [*:19gtcbsp]If/When an automatic gear box breaks, you don't just replace it like a manual, you have to rebuild the entire clutch Then again, I don't expect americans to suddenly just stop using dumb, gas-monster SUV's for minor shopping trips, just saying why Europeans have more sense in general when it comes to driving and cars.

...at the minor expense of killing millions every year. There's also a downside to those millions living. Don't you think our planet it quite populated enough without saving millions of people to hang around longer? Most functions and society's infrastructure in the world is set up so that people may live longer, safer and healthier lives, including you. Just as a reality check, "millions of people" isn't an anonymous mass or statistic. You'd certainly think twice before claiming there is a downside to people staying alive if your family or friends were included in that group dying. Yes, out planet is already overpopulated compared to available resources... But that doesn't mean that everybody born from this moment on has suddenly less human value than the people born before him/her. That's totally absurd thinking.
  12. Not really much discussion value but like Campbell said continue in Help & Advice.

  14. Everybody knows you can't be asian if your parents never punished you with a belt for scoring anything bar A+ on a test, if you never play D&D, eat noodles, become the chess club grandmaster, watch Bruce Lee movies and Star Trek, snore math formulas during sleep, play with Warhammer 40k's, wear thick glasses & mispronounce the letter R.
  15. Locked for continuous flame war.. It's pathetic to pick on a guy such as vapour and call him names just because he got hacked/scammed... If you actually read his posts you'd see you have growing up to do. At least he can admit his shortcomings, while still believing in the good capacity of people. That takes a real man. Regardless, in the absence of concrete proof, accusations against individuals aren't tolerated. If they were, anyone could be blackmailed on tip.it. So don't make any reports for banning the OP. Without taking sides, he's innocent until proven guilty (regardless of who scammed vapour and if that person is a tip.it user) Usually, if a scammer is found to be on tip.it though with verifiable evidence, he will be banned permanently.
  16. As the report says it's too early for this topic, not to mention a significant portion of people on winter holidays don't celebrate it. At least wait until December, then feel free to repost 8-)
  17. I introduce you to research recent GDP statistics: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_countries_by_GDP_(nominal) The EU as an entity has long surpassed all other countries in terms of nominal GDP. EU membership requires fulfilling certain criteria such as free medical care to each citizen of the member nation regardless of wealth, race, gender, sexuality or ideology. There are extremely harsh sanctions and penalties for member countries that don't comply with the directives the commission has set, up to hundreds of millions of euros even for issues such as failing to cut overly long surgery waiting lists. Socialized medical care thus not being "economically viable" is a completely ridiculous assumption, given the largest economic entity in the world uses the system.
  18. Powertraining is what really eventually drove me away from MMORPG's. It's the exact polar opposite of the interesting XP and combat systems offered in early fantasy RPG's like Diablo, with varying monsters with resistances/weaknesses moving, running away from you, charging at you aggressively, hiding in shadows/ambushing you, keeping you alert at all times. I mean this with no offense to any person, but powertraining is a really pathetic way of spending time IMO. It's the prime example of mindless, repetitive action with no benefit or end-result, other than pushing up a virtual number in your stat log. In RS I did get to about level 108 back when XP was hard to come by in 2001-2003, then I realized what a waste of time it really is.. Compared to the amount of entertainment, education or benefit gained.
  19. As much as I hate to see people suffer, some one has to pay the bill or the hospital is going to go into a large debt rather quickly. capitalism fail Become Socialist because then everything is magically paid for! Brains are best when put to use. Wow I sounded quite harsh... Oh well. Move to an European country, pay your taxes on time, and everything will be magically paid for. If you get sick in the UK, a scandinavian country, Germany, etc... It doesn't really matter if your treatment costs 50 euros or 15,000 euros. You're not going to die, and you will be treated even if you are unemployed with 3 kids. Yet those countries have much less debt than the US.
  20. Post questions next time on this topic: viewtopic.php?f=16&t=690610 Yes, you start pixel by pixel. Don't feel bad if your first works look blocky or squarish. In your graphics program it's possible that you have an option to increase the pixels per inch which will make it look smoother. The standard is usually 72 pixels per inch, try a blank canvas with, for example, 300 pix/inch and work from there.
  21. The joke is on the greedy private companies that plague the health care industry. How a practicing doctor that has sworn the hippocratic medical oath of ethical practice of mecicine... Can bill minimum-wage labourers up to $300 dollars just for a check-up visit boggles my mind. These people really sleep at night? Every citizen, regardless of their wealth, should have the right to stay alive and not be refused medical attention. Sadly it's not a constitutional right to even stay alive despite the US declaration of independence claiming right to life, liberty & pursuit of happiness, it has been rejected plenty of times despite having over 100 sponsors in congress: HR 552, "Right to Life Act" http://www.govtrack.us/congress/bill.xpd?bill=h109-552 Technically, there isn't any law that prohibits a doctor from telling a poor person with a brain tumor "pay the $1,600 for MRI brain imaging or don't come here again", because if the patient is in no imminent danger of dying, he has no legal obligation to help him.. Sad.
  22. Probably easier in programming, since companies will also take fresh graduates due to being in dire need of coders. For graphics design you will very likely need some sort of arts degree to even be considered for employment. Now that you reminded me, Nadril on tip.it actually studies graphics design (if I'm not mistaken, he's almost finished). Maybe he can elaborate on that field if you're more interested in gfx. Both jobs would earn you pretty good money, plus it's creative work, meaning there are a thousand ways to solve a problem or create something, as long as you adhere to the requests of the developer of course. Heck, beats an ordinary office job any day, even more so if you get to develop things relevant to your interests (like video game coding or graphic designing)
