  1. If you were also to be absolutely objective, you'd see complete absence of government is impossible in human societies. Assuming you follow international news, you probably know about the state affairs in Somalia and Afghanistan. This is a great look into how close to anarchy people can get. Besides the western-installed puppet regimes in the capital cities, the governments have zero control over the country's affairs. In both countries, in the absence of government, power has been taken over simply by those with the arms & ammunition available, i.e. islamist and splinter faction rebels in Somalia & the Taleban and tribal leaders in Afghanistan. Their power derives from no legitimate authority, they simply possess rule over those who don't have the force of weapons to instill their own will, by AK47 rifles, satellite phones, jeeps and rockets. Complete anarchy is so utterly utopistic as a concept I'm surprised anyone really think it's a viable form of living. Power and authority amongst humans, even in the 21st century, will always be taken up by the person or group who can physically coerce and intimidate other humans by the threat of violence or death into working, paying taxes or fighting. If you disagree, you're always free to visit a country such as Somalia. The border controls are inexistent, there is an absolute absence of formal government everywhere except Khartoum. It's an insight into "anarchy" that exists as we speak. You'll still notice individuals with weapons have nearly all the power even in absence of the State. Authority will never cease to exist as long as humans exist.
  2. [/hide] Just wow... Back a few years ago when I modded, there were a couple of morons in the p-mod community, but.. WOW.. Those guys are plain idiots. I don't understand how they have achieved the crown and passed Jagex filters. This just goes to show the selection process should be much more thorough. You can't be fooled by any Joe Average who intentionally replies topics with a supposedly official tone and points out rule breaking, makes insignificant reports, etc... It's an embarrassment to Jagex's corporate image the people like the 2 shown above can even be close to becoming player moderators. It's no wonder the community loses trust in them.
  3. Those people bug me too, 'defying authority' just out of spite. Or the kids that were in my school and went off loud-mouthing to the older guys involved in gangs, ignoring everyone's warnings that they'd get in trouble. Why does it take a broken nose or ribs to realize some things you just have to accept? That, or people who only do things unless they are absolutely forced to. They refuse to believe in any consequences until they actually happen, then they "repent". Real attitude problem. You'll save yourself from a lot of embarrassment, physical pain and humiliation if you just play scenarios in your head before doing or saying something. And no, being "defiant" isn't cool anywhere outside the rebellious 16 year old's realm (i.e. the real world)
  4. It wasn't, but gold selling is still against the rules and it's an obvious spam bot. Thanks for reporting
  5. 2 year old topic, please don't resurrect these.
  6. Wouldn't really call it revolutionary, the i7 series is just a glorified collection of quad-core processors. It has intelligent power-management, so if you aren't multitasking or gaming, it can place the unused cores in 0-consumption mode which will take up significantly less electricity than it's earlier counterparts. It also has improvements to hyperthreading. Judging from benchmark results I read from a few months back though, it's stunningly more effective than the previous quadcore processors, so you wont be forking out money for mere 'minor improvements' if you upgrade
  7. Enough letters and numbers to frustrate a brute-forcer & make him give up. Not extensively long like some examples here; Be realistic; Nobody with the capacity will *actually* try to steal a casual user's pass with 50 letters. According to that site my pass would take 2 years to crack which is fine by me. My pass usually has only 6 to 8 letters combined with some numbers but during about 10 years online I've never lost control of any account or had someone steal the pass. It's equally important to have quick & smooth access to services as is the pass security... I find huge passwords to fight against it's own purpose. Having over 30-50 letters in a password is being paranoid & unrealistic. If you actually *need* to protect crucial files, you wont even "make up" a password. To prevent brute force access, companies use randomly seeded cryptographic passwords that rotate at random time intervals, if you're not in the office at the main computer and access it with the employee's magnetic strip card, you can't get the current password which lasts for a few minutes.
  8. Like said, tracking cookies are the least of your worries if (and when) any turn up in a virus scan. There is no possible way in which they can harm your computer, you will even get tracking cookies from visiting tip.it and runescape.com. The only nuisance is the minimal (almost non-existent) disk space they consume, and they can clutter search results if you seek a specific file on your computer. Just delete them periodically either through your browser, a program like CCleaner or AVG. As Caxis mentioned though, you may not always want to remove cookies if you use multiple forums/email services. If you do, you will be forced to log in again on every one of them. If you use a non-public computer which you know nobody else has access to, it's just a waste of time to log in every single time you visit a page.
  9. I can already make $40/hour if I wanted to, but I don't like the hours and working conditions for it Unless you're in an executive position or have specialist degrees/deal illegal substances, the wage you described is more or less impossible for a student. Working normal 8 hour days 5 times per week at that job would net $6,400 before taxes a month. For comparison doctors with 5+years of experience and a university MD degree earn rougly $4,500 before taxes a month. You'd be pretty hard pressed to even find a student making $20 an hour, given most work at minimum wage up to 10 bucks, the tuition money this program offers is exceptionally good financial compensation for time spent
  10. Post in tech & computers next time. You can't open certain file extensions on mac enabled systems like iPod touch, this obviously includes files like .exe, .xls, and anything designed for Windows platforms. The closest you can come is downloading Filejuicer for Mac OS which can scan windows files for any images, flash games, etc.. Including executables.
  11. Islam and judaism recognise the prophets, archangel, Abraham killing his son to satisfy God and anything else you can think of. The main theological disagreement besides the holy trinity (which isn't entirely accepted by all christian sects either) is that Jesus is the son of God instead of another prophet, which is what christianity proposes. Islamic theology states all prophets are equal in God's eyes. Jews also don't accept Jesus to be the messiah described in the Book of Isaiah. The religious content, rules, laws itself of the Torah, Qur'an and Bible are very similar. Likewise, they worship the same God - Yahweh is the hebrew literal translation of God, as Allah is in the arabic language (also used by christians living in arabic countries).
  12. Pretty much exactly my sentiments. At like age 14-17 my world view started becoming too cynical and destructive, I similarly just woke up one day & thought, screw it. I'm stuck here for another few decades, me becoming some nihilistic world-hating criminal detached from society isn't going to make anything better or fix anything. Realizing that hating stupidity, humanity, thinking you're somehow superior, is just bull*, will ease your life at least to some degree. Make the best of what you're given and stop complaining. Sadly, the more you understand about the world & view it objectively, the more you come to another dead end: Money is the ultimate God which makes things happen on our planet, without it, you're never going to live a truly free life. Just work a way around it and try earning some.
  13. That's correct... Because after a generation and upon gaining citizenship by birth, you become an American in the United States. You're no longer "European American", "Vietnamese American", you simply are a citizen of your country. White rappers make up less than 1% of gold-record selling artists, Eminem doesn't control anything.
  14. It also does not difinitevely cause lung cancer, it only increases the risk. Somewhat misleading, because cigarette smoking is almost exclusively the only way to develop lung cancer (besides the extremely rare few cases of being constantly exposed to uranium/chromium dust for prelonged periods of time) It's true that not every smoker will get lung cancer, but a pretty big portion of them will. In the US alone, 20% of the population smokes cigarettes regularly [1], which is 60 million people, and an average of 440,000 of those people die every year due to the side effects of smoking such as lung cancer [2]. If you were to wait for 30 years, 13.2 million of the smokers who were originally sampled in 2008 (regardless of how young they were) would be statistically dead, which is a long-term inevitable fatality rate of 22%. Sure, it wont kill you instantly, but you're literally playing russian roulette with your life with odds weaker than those of a revolver, if you continue the habit even for a few years. The statistics simply don't lie. I'm not trying to talk anyone out of smoking, just laying out the truth.
  15. It is already legalised to an extent; If you're a patient. The US government has set up plenty of medical marijuana programs across various states: http://www.dhs.ca.gov/MMP/ That's a pretty big step forwards from the earlier propaganda about how dangerous marijuana is, it will cause you to kill your family and act violent, etc.
  16. I think you'll find out plenty of people in the world treat other humans as objects or 'tools' instead of living beings, this also includes americans/europeans. It's especially true when it comes to women, the poorer the country, the more inequality almost inevitably follows. Feminists here should stop b*ing about western "problems" like a female's dollar being $0.80, not enough welfare money through pregnancy.. And try fixing actual problems in countries where they have it really bad. How about a woman's dollar being $0.05, no social security or health plans at all, chronic poverty and spousal abuse due to cultural norms? Try working on that...
  17. Heh, call me crazy, but I'm male and think prostitution especially in poorer countries is dehumanizing and sick. I'd never buy a hooker in a country to which your plane ticket alone costs more than what the woman earns in 6 months. I refuse to cheapen a person who is somebody's sister, family member, maybe struggling in poverty, just for your own piggish needs. Sorry. And no, I'm not a feminist. If anything, I'd be happy to go to a dirty rat-filled jail in Thailand for assaulting some balding 40-year old fat western guy buying sex from a kid aged 10-14. Words alone can't describe how disgusting that is..
  18. Hey Laura... How you doin'? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g1hHD5EGE68 Sorry, I had to. Norbit rocks.
  19. Throwing all objectiveness and party affiliations aside, may god have mercy on our planet if that hag gets anywhere near the white house.

    Acne

Works, plus Omega 3 fish oil caplets are cheap as heck. You can get them from supplement stores for about $10 per 100-200 capsules, cheap price compared to the benefits if you were to also suffer from self-esteem problems due to acne: http://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/20 ... 024221.htm Even though I haven't had acne for years I still buy them due to the low price and health benefits... Flush down with green tea daily, along with a healthy diet and 2-3x workout every week, and you can't really be in a better shape. Also if you have trouble controlling your diet when you first start lifting weights (a problem countless people I know personally have), omega3 can also keep your hunger level balanced and stop the need for sudden cravings of junk food or your old diet.
  21. I just wear a mid-length leather jacket regardless of how hot/cold it is :P
  22. Drive that around & buy the custom plate "npdynamite" & get Stephen Hawking quote stickers on the bumper -.- :D
  23. Hmm.. really there isn't a possibility to filter a link itself and not only "name" of the link? When it's filtered, like now, it's impossible for anybody to get scammed. If you click on the link it will just take your browser to an URL like "[scamurl]" and you get a 404 error. I will use the filtered link & the address "trick" as an example to demonstrate the point: http://www.runescape.com/forum As you see, now if you hover your mouse over the link, it will show the censored one instead, and nobody is fortunately at risk.
