  1. That I can understand, thats what I thought they meant when they previously referred to this update as removing some words from the censor that are not needed. Words that are actually necessary in a normal converation like those ones are the words which we should be allowed to say... Well, sucks for example is also a good idea, and so as for crap... I think that words such as [wagon] shouldn't have though, even though the true meaning of [wagon] is a donkey... I do not agree with crap. When would there be a situation where it is not possible to use a similar unoffensive term to what you are trying to say? Crap is still counted as a swear word in many different countries, I dont know about yours. (Albeit a lighter one) EDIT: New word found - Address
  2. Sorry but this is not at all what this discussion is about #-o (Welcome to the forums  )

  4. Im really opposed to this update. I will regularly have to listen to meaningless profanity now, and there is absolutely no reason for it. We have survived for years with the current runescape censor, and I have learnt to use non-vulgar words, Darn replaced my all too favourite damn, and now I know I will go on playing runescape without using any of these newly unblocked words. To hell with freedom of speech (Some guys excuse on the RSOF) The amendment does not apply to Jagex, so dont take it that they HAD to do this update. I think it is unnecessary, and we will all have to suffer the consequences of this... Who needs to say "Crap, I just got owned" for example, when you could say "FFS! That guy 3 hitted me" or some other way of saying it, which you would have done before the update, and not be bombarded with useless spam. If the reporting still comes under Rule 1 still, the people spamming @@s at the castle wars lobby might as well be spamming "Crap"
  5. 1.1 here =[ I was so sad the day I got my first BM, I was clean for so many years, so helpful, never rude.... I was the perfect mod candidate... Then I posted a URL during the catapult construction quest to help people with the puzzle board, this is before any guides were released, and the URL was to a photobucket pic that I uploaded myself.... That got me 24hr mute and 1 BM from a mod reporting me.... Then a "friend" in my clan, reported me for using the expression (Oh god dont censor this too) Tell tale [bleep]. IN order to get around the censored word I said "Another word for B.oo.B", that got me .1 BM and 24 hour mute... Funnily enough the mute came into place when I was world switching with a clan for KBD. Bad timing ftw? (before quickchat)
  6. I really hope this topic doesnt turn into a racial flame war, I saw the seeds of it earlier but luckily the bomb has been defused. :ohnoes: I dont think anybody would be actually offended by the use of the words, just trouble makers (like me) to make a joke out of the whole thing. It does sound awfully like the word, which is why I forsaw Jagex changing it, although Im not sure if it was the right thing to do. On the one hand, it gives in to all the whiners, and makes them thing what they want they can get. On the other hand, as more and more people notice the thread and notice the strange choice of word, more and more threads like my one would pop up until the RSOF would be spammed with them. I think, although undignified, they took the best course of action. And: Please oh god, If you are white, do NOT address a large group of black people (Or African-Americans, although im from England and we are allowed to use the word black here  ) With the N word.... Just dont do it, for your own safety....
  7. Im guessing the post above me is sarcasm, although from an objective viewpoint I dont find it funny at all. I just feel sorry that you spent so long typing out such a large block of text which nobody will read anyway because guess what: [hide=What?]People dont read huge blocks of text. It hurts the eyes.[/hide] Maybe you should take a look at a few examples of sarcasm that have been well recieved in the past, and learn from those, although I think you will struggle to find any of those in this thread. As it is, I think there will be a quest relating to sailing coming out fairly soon, however I dont believe the skill will be. Do I want it to come out? Sure, I have an open mind and I can imagine myself enjoying a piracy and travelling concept of Sailing, the people who have closed minds who do not imagine anything could be fun because of their own limited opinion on the matter... those are the people who do not deserve a new skill in the first place. "Construction? Who would ever want a rubbish skill like that so you can sit down and make tea?" No, Construction can actually be extremely useful with teleports and gilded altars... OPEN YOUR MINDS! As for the people who leave patronising and generally nasty comments on this thread just because they refuse to believe in something without definite proof, GTFO! Did your parents happen to tell you that Santa Claus was made up when you were a child? Have some imagination for the love of god! Even if you dont want to believe, in denial perhaps, GTFO of this thread! Why would you post on a thread multiple times when you are not even interested in the concept! Those are just my 2 cents from an unbiased person =P I know I am a hypocrite for that large block of text, but I enjoyed releasing my frustration to the world...
  8. In the past there have been a lot of those areas which i think are just too extreme, but now im on the spot I cant think of many,... umm... -Train between Keldagrim and Dorgeshunn.. I mean WTF.. A train? -Dwarvern Cannon, although I do use it... a spinning cannon-ball firing machine... wtf? -That quest with the global warming plotline.... that was just weird.... - Lunar magic's Bake Pie perhaps... - A few cringeworthy dialogues in certain quests around runescape... talking animals and whatnots... That all I can think of right now, I was trying to decide what crosses the line between adventuring game and fantasy/real life...
  9. Not true! Yaks are dangerous! They dont hit much, but when they do it can go into the high 40s! Therefore you want to get as much defense in there as possible! (Its not even that much money) And I confess... That was me ranging with a black mask =[ I swear I didnt know till someone kindly told me... I felt a bit
  10. If it's sailing, I'm going to hurt someone. -.- What have you got against sailing? Is it that you dont think its a good concept, or that all the shouting brainstorming people with their conspiracy theories... would be proved right? Either way, I hope they do what they say they will do : Fix all the annoying bugs! They can start with the Great Orb Project... fix it! Its just one massive bug! In a round, the orbs can be almost ALL yellow and NO green, and if you complain the other team just say "Get over it nerd" Also the thing where your familiar gets trapped in the Random Evenets... that has to stop... Of course the familiar also gets stuck in almost every quest area so they can have a go at that too! Hmm what else do I want.... Thats right! A Music cape!! Victory is Mine is the ONLY track I have not unlocked in RS, so of course for my own selfish needs I want a Music cape... Or a trim to my quest cape now I have all songs unlocked, that will satisfy me =]
  11. I learnt my lesson after getting hacked! One of my RL friends hacked me, guessed my pass which was..... Chaztheman !! How did they guess?? Either way, I was only small, about level 40, and they completely emptied my bank! I had no idea how to get back all the essentials I lost, luckily that was before the Miniclip era, so I could safely ask for help to recover my property!.... ahh those were the days... Back on topic: Good update I suppose, common sense really though and I dont really like the feeling you cant have the pass you want to have....
  12. Grats, it's a great guide. Also, thanks for not saying any of that Hallpy Holdays stuff, I hate it  Tyvm, im glad someone else shares my opinion =D If you didnt notice that was a blatant bump  Hope you forgive me, but I hope a few more people will benefit from the guide before I let it resign to the back of the boards...
  13. Here is what I think on the matter: Sailing would be great, but Jagex love the thrill of teasing us with development diaries, so it wont be released soon. I think the reference relates to the 150th quest, which will be the Kudos quest from the Varrok Museum! Ever seen those people building barges north of the digsite? I think the quest will revolve around you having to make/ use the barge to sail to the quest area, and maybe more in the quest... I love the idea of sailing, but somehow I doubt they could conjure it up in such short notice...
  14. I think the idea is great, its a pity this thread has been so wrapped up in its own complex formulae and fancy calculations, when it really doesnt relate to the main point of the author.... What you guys always assume that the end product will be something useful to PLAYERS and that will be sold on the GE for a set price, so that PLAYERS can buy it and use it... What if these miniquests for high level skillers work much like the quest "One Small Favour"? The player is asked to do a task, which he then performs to get the item, then he must continue to do more tasks! Lets say a player has 90... umm... CRAFTING! and 90... umm... FLETCHING! (ugh, not really hard to get though is it) Either way, this player will look down an imaginary list of grand things to make, maybe in the KB or in game like the Skills menus. The player will choose a legendary item which he is then going to make! He will then set across RS, doing random tasks for people who have the ingredients to make the final product - lets say... THE BOW OF ARMADYL!! Obviously it wont actually be the bow of Armadyl, this is either a hasty example or one which will actually work if you TRICK an NPC into buying it. Finally my actual point to this long and boring post: An NPC (you heard me!) will then want to buy this bow, as he is captured by its brilliance and excellent craftmanship! (Not literally) You will get to say an offer for how much money you want for the bow, although obviously he will only pay a range of the set price, say 2 MILLION!. Now this is a guarenteed 2 MILLION!, you make the bow and you sell it for 2 MILLION! This price will not change, although perhaps you may make only 1 of each legendary item each month or some other limitation. (Limitation you hear! But that may not be necessary) Lets say, as others have, it will take 6 hours approximately to carry out the tasks needed to get the item, even with guides and such, the items needed will be untradable - like OOMLIE WRAPS! 6 hours, to get 2 million GP, that is like 333k an hour profit. When you think about it, its not that high, there are many more ardeous grinding ways to make better cash. (With skills, not GWD) That leaves this method as something new, a different method to make money, instead of the grinding of skilling. And perhaps the requirements for these legendary items will increase and increase, and the final price will increase and increase! Wow, I wonder who will notice first that I made my post saying "Maybe an NPC can buy the final product" into a long (and brilliant) suggestion post! =D>
  15. Which is the worst part as there was no need for it to be changed. But of course Jagex were going to change it! They are a complete bunch of pushovers when it comes to pressure from the RSOF.. The only reason they didnt change the Wilderness updates is because Andrew told them that if they changed it, he wouldnt give them the antidote!
  16. LMAO you're right! I guess that ends this topic! This can be locked now =]
  17. Exactly. What Jagex have done is alert the RS community about a word that is not blocked by the censor, that can be used to replace a bad word :? They didnt use the word "[racist term]" now did they? =S Nevermind, kudos to the TIF censor I suppose =P
  18. Well Jagex have changed updates which havent needed a change in the past... they are very subject to pressure from the RSOF...
  19. The objective of the post wasnt to question the meaning of the word, which as I stated earlier is perfectly proper. The objective is that if Jagex keep recieving comments such as the ones I posted, will they bow down and change the comment....
  20. Direct Quote from BTS 2009: Well, this is the challenge that weve set ourselves: 2009 has become our official Upgrade Year! So, what does that mean? It means our New Year's resolution is to tweak and polish what we've already got in the game alongside creating new content. For example: Doing the 'little' jobs that make a big difference (e.g. a 'You are here' arrow on the world map) and basically fixing all the annoying little niggles the game has. Things that may be the least glamorous to work on and talk about, but which really add up. Obviously the bold area is not meant in a racist or insulting way, although my first thought of reading it was that there would be an uproar, so I decided to search the RSOF: [hide=pictures] [/hide] Im allowed to use this smiley right? This is the Discussion forum so I dont expect this to get locked, I must add a purpose to it! The purpose will be: Do you think Jagex will change the wording of this news article? Enjoy! EDIT: They have in fact changed it! It now says: Doing the 'little' jobs that make a big difference (e.g. a 'You are here' arrow on the world map) and basically fixing all the annoying little quirks the game has. This topic can be locked now =] To all the people who said they wouldnt change it: =P
  21. Your link is 404'd, but it is possible to type it in yourself, but here it is for people: P.S That is the smallest leak... ever!!!
  22. Are you joking? :? Sals Quest Guide told me to use a few lobsters for Monkey Madness! Way under-par! Maybe just my bad experience though, also RuneHQ told me to use the wrong protect prayer on "Dealing with Scarabas"! (I was using it just as it came out)
  23. Thanks for posting, a really interesting thing to look at =] I was sort of getting excited - expecting a report after the "Updates" of December. Sort of like: "Yeh, profits werent that good this year... we kind of messed up our game a bit... but it will be alright..." The percentage PIE chart also dampens many F2P "Our advertising banners get Jagex money!" arguments. =D> Again, thanks for taking the time to make the graphs and compile it all!
  24. Dagganoths in the Chaos Tunnels are not at all bad! I dont pick up the green charms, and rarely the gold though. For about 170 slayer kills, I got 40 crimson, 30 gold and 9 blue charms, which I dont think is bad at all!
