Basically, zombies probably wont be a problem if you're in an area where that is the average temperature, since there wont be many people in the first place. Probably since the risk of death by hypothermia is so high. What I'm basically saying is that going to said area is stupid, even in a zombie apocalypse.

They don't reproduce, so there is no chance of resistance being developed. They use the human body, so unless that body is resistant to the cold, the zombie wont be either.
-

No, since there is no blood flow, hypothermia is not a worry for them. Being somewhere with a temperature of -20/-30 will inevietably be worse for the human than the zombie. Since there is no power, you'd have to supply the fuel for the heater yourself.

Best stock up on bottlecaps. Do you know how to drive a boat? I really think anybody who owns a boat would have already taken it.

Exactly. And, there are no differing viewpoints to deal with, either.

We could decide it on an RNG. Guess the number from 1-10 and you win.

Hex, don't be a douche. Also, light sledgehammer might as well be a carpenters hammer.

Human bones are actually very strong. They wouldn't weaken so much that you could tap them and they would break, it would still require quite an amount of force to get through the skull. Slicing weapons aren't really effective anyway. They're mainly designed to cause organ damage. You want a crushing weapon (Carpenter hammer/crowbar) or a trench spike, since that is specifically designed to stab through the skull and steel helmets.

Carpenter's hammer and crowbar are both easily obtainable. I actually keep several hammers and a crowbar in my room, in case of zombies/burglars.

For the love of... Earth. If you know you wont be able to get it, perhaps you should start coming up with PRACTICAL ideas.

Actually, I believe all of you are underestimating the skill required. As somebody who has personally tried it and failed, I can tell you that you have no idea how difficult it is to use. Hex, a broadsword is actually a better choice. Since the weapon is so heavy it will almost always deliver a decapitating blow, but would take ages to recover. A katana, on the other hand, would be easier to carry and take less time to recover, but is incredibly difficult to use. As for maintainance, rust isn't what you need to worry about. The blade grows dull after use, and you need to know how to sharpen it, which is rather difficult to not screw up. Earth, don't people who have a preferred weapon usually have some training with said weapon. If you try to take a katana to fight zombies, you will die.

Keyword here being break. A katana is a slashing weapon. It is not designed to break things, but to slice them. And I would love to see you slice through bone like somebody who has actually been trained could. Face it, unless you want to pay a master instructor for a good 5-10 years of training, YOU ARE NOT GOING TO BE ABLE TO USE A KATANA EFFECTIVELY AND WILL ENDANGER YOURSELF AND EVERYONE AROUND YOU BY DOING SO. Three actually, I said thirteen years sice it's only 24 days until my sixteenth birthday. That is quite tragic. In a bad way. Seriously, that's past infatuation. That's obsession.
-
Zombie Plans-Revised
Not so, Hex. I practised for three months and I couldn't cut all the way through a plank of wood. I don't think anybody with no formal training could cut through bone. You also need to learn weapon maintainance and such.

No, don't bring a katana at all. It's easily the most innacessible weapon out there, in terms of availability and skill level. If you've been training with one for the past 5-10 years, then yeah, bring it along. Otherwise, don't.

Love is a temporary insanity curable by marriage or by removal of the patient from the influences under which he incurred the disorder. -Ambrose Bierce The reason a crowbar is good (And to a lesser extent a carpenter hammer) is that as well as being a durable, effective weapon, it has many practical applications. A frying pan would fail miserably, Earth. You also answered my question with a completely irrelevant second question. Nobody said zombie killing was efficient, but there may be zombies standing between you and your destination, and killing them may be the most efficient option.
-
Zombie Plans-Revised
1. You can't efficiently use a katana without several years of training. 2. Frying pan wouldn't work. Get a trench spike. Or at the very least a carpenters hammer/crowbar. Since they are both practical and effective.

As long as I am alive, I can develop friendships later. My own survival is the most important thing. And whenever somebody mentions the "Have something worth surviving for" thing, I revert to my nihilist attitude and start questioning existance, so thanks for that <_<

Enigma and Co. run like hell away from there, staying hidden if possible. They then part ways when they find a safe location, and Enigma heads back to the Ecologist HQ. He tells them what the group found, and then asks why dozens of troops started pouring in.

Enigma continues carefully to the end of the tunnel. Varius stabs the zombie in the head to ensure that it has been killed, before him and the rest of the group begin inching along in the same way as Enigma.

Yeah, like a mana system. Seems like a good idea.

Joy. Enigma gets up and tries to stay on the side of the tunnel, inching towards the light and staying out of contact with the acid. Varius uses both hands to destroy the remaining zombies, before stowing the second katana in it's sheath.
