  1. Does anybody have any general guitar tips or techniques? e.g what are the best amp settings or tips on improving the speed of your picking. I wanted to know if anyone had tips on pinch harmonics or tapping. I'm trying to learn Midnight by Joe Satriani but when I tap the first 3 strings it's very quiet compared to the bass notes which I don't want. (Couldn't find a youtube lesson or anything) Share your guitar tips and techniques :D

Have you ever heard of/vsed a girl named Maxie Ouyang at badminton? Or Charmaine (her sister)? Maxie is one of my good friends and she's like the 6th best in New Zealand overall at badminton and she basically plays everywhere.
  3. How do you make everything greyscale while having a certain area still colourful?
  4. Wongtong replied to Leoo's topic in Off-Topic
Any pictures? I generally don't like it when people dye their hair a weird colour like that, looks.. odd the majority of the time.
  5. I'd always thought Littleboy's portrait had been manipulated but I guess I was wrong. Great entries this month.
  6. Nice comic. I remember about 4 years ago there was a Ouija Board craze between a few classes. People would create boards out of paper and letters out of paper. This one girl I know claimed that she talked to her dead cat. I remember joining in one time to see what it was all about and they were trying to contact Elvis Presley (they said "He's probably trying to contact us while he's on the toilet. He died when he was on the toilet you know.")

Ughhh I think I am addicted to playing the guitar. I've spent about 2 and a half hours playing guitar and then I spent another 2 hours thinking about this song I'm learning on guitar during badminton. I tried to play guitar again but my mum just told me off. And that sucks, bird poo is gross but my friend was been shat on three times last year.
  8. That's odd... I just googled it and other people have made posts about it today. Good luck. I'll keep googling stuff :S

I sprayed Lynx (aka Axe) on my hand by accident yesterday. I still smell good. Mmm.. I made a card for my mum. My oldest sister spent $70 on food for mum (icecream, wine, oysters, chocolates etc) I think my mum liked my present more.
  10. People who are too overly proud of their girlfriend/boyfriend and like to show off what they've done with them or hint at things that they've done.
  11. Yeah, I know this one person who claims that he has never downloaded a song online before. But he didn't have any trouble hesitating to receive songs from me over MSN - even then he'd say "I've never downloaded a song." :|
  12. I play classical guitar, electric guitar and a little bit of bass (not enough to call myself a bassist). I play classical guitar for a 3 person group (we enter competitions and stuff). I was going to play classical guitar for a quartet who played at university level but the teacher said I didn't have a good enough guitar (mines really bad). I play electric guitar for a group of friends/acquaintances (we play at this one competition @ school) I play bass for the school jazz band. Hopefully I'll manage to form a two person duet thing for electric guitar with this other girl soon.

Well when I began driving a car, what I did and what my mum made me do is sit there and slowly lift the clutch up in complete silence. You can hear the point where you have to start accelarating if you do so, but it might be different for other cars. After a while of slowly lifting the clutch up you'll get the hang of it and you can do it easily without taking so much time.
  14. Scene names like "Sarah Synthetic" or "Emily Emo" Annoying songs with stupid lyrics on the radio that my sister refuses to turn off e.g [hide=]I've made myself so sick I wish to stay and sleep today (yeah yeah) I'm so human (yeah yeah) nd it's ok for me to feel this way (yeah yeah) I'm still human (yeah yeah) it's ok for me to feel this way (yeah yeah) Yeah yeah yeah yeahx3 Doesn't it feel much better when youve had a better day than yesterday? Jeepers deathdrow, how'd you lose so much weight? -Gets notebook- Today I walked in the rain after standing in rain with no umbrella counting traffic for Geography. I had practise. love our drummer, she is amazing and can learn things almost straight away. Can't wait to play at the competition, I get this adrenalin rush from playing in front of large audiences.
  19. I'd like to remind people that it was her sister that stole the statue, not Janet herself. :|
  20. I just watched a story on the news: [hide=Online Article]http://tvnz.co.nz/national-news/alleged-exorcism-leads-manslaughter-trial-2698766 One of the most unusual court cases in recent history has begun at the Wellington High Court. Nine people from one family are accused of killing 22-year-old Janet Moses, by drowning her in an exorcism to rid her of a makutu or curse. The six women and three men pleaded not guilty to killing her. The prosecution opened its case on Monday afternoon following legal argument about name suppression which the accused have at present. Moses is believed to have drowned during the apparent exorcism at her grandparents' home in Wainuiomata in October 2007 while around 40 members of her family looked on. The accused believed a makutu or evil spirit possessed the young mother of two and that they alone could cure her in a homestyle exorcism. The accused believed the demon had entered Janet after her sister had stolen a lion statue from a Wairarapa pub. They took Janet to a tiny Wanuiomata house where they began a water-cleansing ceremony that lasted three days. Water passed hand to hand from the kitchen tap and poured for hours down her throat until the house was flooded and Janet lay dead. After a seven-week investigation police arrested the accused. Justice Simon France told the jurors the trial was not about whether or not they believed in exorcism. It was whether an unlawful act had been committed. One of the women and another man have also denied ill-treating a 14-year-old causing her unnecessary suffering. The defence says Janet Moses consented to the ceremony. The trial is expected to last up to six weeks.[/hide] Because that story was posted on the internet in the morning (6:54am), they didn't publish all the new information that was reported in the live news story at 7:00pm. So basically what happened (including things that weren't included in the online article) was that a New Zealand woman, Janet Moses' sister, stole a stone statue from a pub. Her family believed that Janet had been cursed, so a group of 9 people (including family members) passed tap water between hands and poured it all over her face for hours. They opened her mouth and forced a spoon inside her mouth to stop her from swallowing the water and continued to pour the water on her face and into her mouth. Some people even tried putting their mouths on her eyeballs and sucking so that the curse would be sucked out. In the end, she died from drowning. The group of people then suspected that a 14 year old girl in the same house had also been cursed and blew cigarette smoke into her eyeballs. ------------------------------------ What are your views on this story? Should the group of people be charged for manslaughter? After all, they did not intend to cause bodily harm or kill someone. What are your views on exorcism in general?

I've had 'Lets Dance to Joy Division' by The Wombats stuck in my head all day. It's so catchy, I can't bear it. What is the best way to get a song out of your head? I used to have a method when I was younger but it doesn't work as much anymore.
  22. I used to be afraid of silly things like aliens and ghosts, just the thought of them being real and having things watch me freaked me out, but not so much anymore. But basically I used to be scared of the dark. I don't think I'm afraid of much nowadays, nothing I can think of anyways. NVM, I just remembered. I have a slight fear of birds, they look scary. Especially pea[roosters] >_<
  23. Quit lurking, you've tormented jaerk enough. This is two threads now ! Personally, I'm surprised, however I think there is a high chance this is unsubstansiated rumor. Do people seem to think I like lose sleep over people not liking rage? Basically. I imagine you to start fights when people say they don't like RATM.

 @ yours. I remember discussing anti-humour a while ago with someone and one of the only jokes I remember is: I love it when people go "Oh that's so mean" and they laugh anyways.

I have a feeling you talk more than your girlfriend and are more hyper than her. :| Today I basically had guitar. I realised that I had misplaced my umbrella in another classroom when it started to pour down like crazy. So I spent my time after school trying to find my umbrella in the rain. Tomorrow I start table tennis woooo. -_- My post isn't that fun to quote ... :S Table Tennis is fun, I'm the best in our class haha. We have our own table, but only perosn who ever plays against me is my brother. Starting badminton again ....:o I play badminton too. WE HAVE SO MUCH IN COMMON. Oh and I had guitar for the whole day because I pretty much consider it as a school subject since it takes as long/longer than a period of a normal school subject. (Replace, "I pretty much had [ Maths ] all day" with Guitar, makes sense in my head.)
