How do they now? Lure people into giving money by playing on their guilt. Stop trying to demonize the church, their intentions are good. to a certain extent. -

And they should also pay taxes. By the same standard, does a shop owner have the right to tell a black person that he can't buy anything from his store because he's black? If yes, well at least you're being consistent. I understand the freedom of institutions standpoint but at the same time rights of individuals are more important in my opinion. there's a difference between the two. in a store, not letting someone buy from a store is getting rid of the right a person has to get the things they need for survival, whereas the church itself is an institution and it is much different from a store. A church is a place of worship, and a place where people gather to pay respect to their gods. The church should not need to give the homosexuals the ability to be married in their church, due to the fact the church is a place where they teach principles and morals, although not always right, forcing the churches to let them get married in the church is against the principles and views they teach in their church, is not right. The act of marriage has nothing to do with survival, like the situation with a store, it is just a higher level of bonding between a couple, which isn't needed in a church. Although the individuals themselves may follow the religion, while still being homosexuals, they should be able to respect the church's right not to be forced to contradict what they teach. And on the subject of churches paying taxes, I don't quite understand why, and where exactly would they get the money from? some churches get a lot of money from donations, whereas churches in poorer demographics may have trouble getting funding for taxes, and not have the money to help out, organize events, and other such things with charities, and contributing to the local community. Did anyone ever notice that the options underneath the reply box, the spaces in the center of it all, is shaped like the eiffel tower? -

Why? It's consensual and both parties enjoy it. What's wrong with that? I meant marriage, not whoopee. The same argument stands. Because marriage should be between a man and a women, thats just what marriage is. Still, aside from the meaning of marriage, there's nothing wrong with gays doing the equivalent, so maybe something seperate, but with the same recognition? And NO, I'm not suggesting South Park's movement for "butt buddies". Why? It's consensual and both parties enjoy it. What's wrong with that? how do you know your cat is gonna enjoy it? I was trying to leave his sexuality out of it... and I was making a bad joke.... anyways, I do believe marriage in the church should be followed as the church's views state it should be followed, but gay marriage done by the state, is perfectly fine with me. -
when:for the past two years and still continuing. what: they beat the [cabbage] out of kids they deem as being emo. why: It's mainly caused by ignorance, and not liking things that are different from the norm. especially in a country less civilized(to a certain extent) like mexico. a news article: taken from: http://www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=12830088937

It has nothing to do with religion, it just isn't natural. The bilological purpose of sex is reproduction, the fact that it feels good is just an incentive. homosexuality is natural though, it can happen by a gene, is naturally occurring in humans, and can be caused by traumas experienced in someone's life. Reproducing feels good to you, but to homosexuals, it can be just as weird as you think it is for them to like it in a different sense. but do you realize the prostate is the male equivalent to the [bleep]oris, and it feels better for men when they have anal sex? and with lesbianism, woman can do pretty much the same men can do to them. The fact is gay sex might seem weird to you, but to them it's normal, and your normal forms of intercourse, could be considered weird to them. Also, if you look at the fetishes people have, It is deemed to be normal by society(to an extent of what the [specialInterest] itself is, but fetishes in general are accepted), it's the same thing with homosexuality, but most people don't think of it in the same way. I know I screwed something I said in there up, but im not sure what. So you don't believe in God because theres no proof, but you believe in a gay gene that there's no proof exists? I've read several articles with good evidence supporting the gene, I'll try to find them. But for now, just completely disregard the whole it's a gene thing. -

Natural, from what I meant by it, is something occurring without any outside influence toward it. -

Are you/they the rule or the exception? don't quite understand the question. the only thing I'd really formed an opinion on at a young age was religion, mainly because my family was so pushy about religion, and I was tired of them being so strict about it. I was unbelievably ignorant about things at a younger age, and was until about a year, year and a half ago. -
this count's as a books forum in a sense. although I do agree there should be a literature forum. and there are a few book threads already.

This is why I consider Atheism a religion  Some followers try to convert others just like any other... If atheism is a religion, then not believing in a specific god is a religion. Then a Christian, who only believes in one god, has another religion for each god he doesn't believe in. Mustang, again, why do you believe in god. answer me. sorry didnt know you told me to answer something ok if you ever read a bible it says that jesus came down to earth to spread the word of Christianity down to earth since it was dying out he told about god.and what about Noah and Moises everbody knows those storys still not proving it, just because a book says something, doesn't mean it's true. I could write a book write now saying that their are 30892 gods that are all little pieces of chicken floating around in a bucket of gasoline. harry potter doesn't exist, but from the way your saying it, if it's in a book, it must be true. And who's to say that the bible itself wasn't just a novel or a bunch of books some people made a couple thousand years ago just to try to start a religion and to attempt to have a power other than one in form of government. not to mention the fact the bible contradicts itself multiple times throughout it. -
Win. Pure win. But this is a stupid thread :> Not much discussion value. I would like to point this out. This is the only huge thing that I have seen change, and especially from a mod perspective, has become the most annoying thing on Off topic. People need to learn to stay the hell away from that reply to thread button if they aren't gonna post anything relevant. There is NO REASON AT ALL for a person to be posting in a thread to discuss the reason for the thread to exist. Have problem with the post? Don't post at all, or pm the author and have a nice chat with them, or if there is ACTUALLY SOMETHING RULE BREAKING, report the thread. Unless the thread is something like 'I ate a pop tart today' or something written in 1337 speak/something that dosen't make sense or something else that really has zero potential for a discussion, there is no reason to label it as 'no discussion value here'. +1 and that chocolate bear thing made me laugh. the video was kinda meh. it made me laugh, but only cause I was in a laughy mood.

Well, considering god doesn't exist, I don't see how your argument is relevant. you dont even have proof that god doesnt exist what are you atheist or something And can you prove that he does exist? If he is atheist, that's his decision, and you should accept it. also, with homosexuality, it has nothing to do with what god wanted, look back in the middle ages when being left handed was thought to be a trait of the devil, it could be said it's the same thing with homosexuality, and the reason you think it's gross is because your ignorant, and you don't even know the basics of what causes homosexuality, or understand it at all. If you're gonna post, at least try to back up what you're going to say, I'm not going to bother providing an actual post, justifying, and providing a decent argument against what you wrote, because you probably wouldn't learn from it, and you'd probably just ignore it and continue with your ignorant posts about how being gay is gross, and against what god said created. Hitting your kid also would not help the fact that he was gay, you shouldn't hit someone for being gay. and to address your saying it'd be gross to see two guys making out with each other, I personally find most forms of public affection to be kind of stupid, and I'd prefer not to see people making out in public in general. no matter what sexuality they might be. this post pretty much got said multiple times within the two minutes it took me to write it. It took me three times hitting submit before it actually worked. I only criticize other religions when it encroaches on the rights and individual freedoms of others. For instance, homosexuality. ok range this be honest what religion are you to be exact His religion shouldn't have any affect on the discussion. -
