  1. While I do feel that rewriting the entire RS code in C++ would be cumbersome and a waste of resources, I also think that creating a capable game client to run from the desktop rather than through an internet browser is a useful step forward for those with more capable machines. The game client will complement the browser version, rather than replace it. With the various graphics upgrades, the most recent being Direct X implementation, the RS graphics are quite scalable. The use of a stand-alone game client could allow for improved graphics in terms of increasing draw distance, polygon count, shadow resolution etc., and could help increase the UI's reactivity and eliminate dead clicks and those short, annoying pauses after clicks. But, I'm just speculating. I'm no computer code whiz.
  2. Whoever makes these videos at Jagex needs to pay closer attention to detail. You can't advertise the godsword as the strongest weapon and then show it hitting zeros!
  3. I should make a set of bronze Armour and run around asking for free stooff. EPIC Win!
  4. Who here wants to bet that Stellar Dawn will be officially announced at Runefest, with game info, screenies, videos etc.? Seems highly probable to me! :D
  5. I'm most impressed with the voice acting in the tutorial! I half expected it to sound lame and cheesy but it was done quite well! The narrator woman was especially good, not sounding too ethereal but also maintaining a tone of all-knowingness! Hopefully this will apply to all dialogue in the rest of the game soon enough! It will especially give that oomph factor to the quests! The lowering of Daemonheim rewards costs is also a very welcome addition and Slayer also gets deeper with more tasks. Fantastic work, Jagex! Very good follow up update to Dungeoneering! =D>
  6. Good trailer. My only beef against it is that the animations look choppy but the graphics are quite nice. I like the water and particle effects. Not sure if anyone noticed, but the fire on the torches in the beginning of the trailer is particle-effects based! Looks very nice, methinks! ;)
  7. I figured that much out but where is the option to change it? I don't see it in the "Party" screen/interface. I'm Free-to-Play btw. Is it a members only feature? Because I've read pretty much the entire KB section and nowhere does it say that medium and large sized dungeons are members only, nor does it show a screenshot of how to change the dungeon size. I'm totally stumped and it seems like I'm not the only one who is...
  8. Hey guys, I've been dungeon crawling for a bit now but I've been stuck on Small sized dungeons this entire time because I don't know how to change the dungeon size. It says that solo players and pairs can do small and medium sized dungeons and I want to solo Medium dungeons. Can anyone tell me how to re-size your dungeons?
  9. I don't even understand the Bonus rooms mechanic. What counts as normal rooms and what counts as Bonus rooms? Are rooms that require a key bonus rooms? Are Bonus rooms special rooms that aren't marked on the minimap?? Totally confused because sometimes, when I've gone through pretty much every room (or so I think) I don't get any Bonus rooms multiplier. :?
  10. I totally can't seem to figure out how to change the Dungeon size! Can someone tell me how to change it? I want to solo Medium dungeons. I'm liking this skill so far but it doesn't seem very rewarding to be completely honest. But as a free player, I'm not complaining at all! Much more fun than pretty much everything else in F2P.
  11. THIS! We're just coming out of a global economic recession because of Credit expenditures. Incorporating this into the game completely sends the wrong RL message to the RS population. The last thing you want is encouraging people to rely on borrowed money for their daily activities.
  12. Fantastic idea! Simple, extremely useful and optional to avoid any angry players! Nice images as well! Fully Support! =D>
  13. Reading MMH's suggestion only makes me think of one single thing: The Fremmy guarded island with a RUINED KEEP on it in East Wilderness and North of Slayer Tower. Does that sound like the Deepstone Keep described by MMH?? I think there's a lot of evidence pointing to that Jagex actually decided to work MMH's suggestion into the game. (I mean...he is a Jagex employee afterall!) I can't find the Wilderness Castle thread but I'm sure upon further comparison between those screenshots and MMH's descriptions, we'll find many parallels. Perhaps Jagex is working instanced boss fights into the game and MMH's suggestion is how they're doing it? but his suggestion was never finished. Yeah unfortunately after the release of the mysterious castle he confirmed that the castle was not Deepstone Keep and that was about it. That's unfortunate. I do hope he's lying because his idea was fantastically fleshed out! Something I'd love to play!

  15. I was seriously thinking about that just the other day. I'd think that would really bring in a large new group of players from an older demographic. Don't know too many 12 year olds on Facebook.
  16. I'm not too sure about it. Isn't that supposed to be against the rules? Not its not! The advert still runs, just that you don't have to see it. But the computer still reads it so you aren't scamming Jagex or the advert company in any way.
  17. The only reason I can think of for not making doors permanently open is to avoid removing the PvM/PvP aspect of trapping monsters/players. And my suggestion addresses that issue.
  18. I like this idea but I think it can be fleshed out a bit more. How about: -A trip on a ship gives back up to 20 Run Energy Points at Agility Level 1. -As a player gains more Agility levels, ship trips will give back more Run Energy Points, all the way up to a full 100 points. -To avoid Overpowering, Run Energy will be restored on a ship trip only once every 30 seconds. This is to avoid a player taking multiple trips back and forth to quickly gain back Energy points and abusing the system. This, like running, involves the Agility skill and gives a bonus to P2P players while still updating F2P players. And giving Agility another bonus is always a good thing.
  19. Really??? Thats...REALLY low IMO. I'm F2P and still far away from 12.5M but the forums are a members benefit that loyal players are lucky to have. 5M isn't that hard at all! Its a stupid move by Jagex. The immaturity level in the forums is off the charts as it is. More children on there is only going to make things worse! ("GIVE F2P THIS! GIVE F2P THAT!" )
  20. Here's a screenshot to further elaborate this glitch that I described in the post above. The torches' flickering effects are lit up on one side and not lit up on the other. In fact, most of the torches' effects aren't lit up. On a side note, if people are wondering how my browser isn't showing an advert (even though I'm F2P) and my game screen seems unusually large, all I've done is zoom in the browser and remove some toolbars! Very effective as it allows for more immersiveness, plus, you don't see the advert! Great for F2P players! ;)
  21. This is unfortunate seeing as how timing the spells to get the big hits was pretty tough already. Not to mention, the insane rune prices to facilitate such combat. Now, if Jagex is smart, they'll be using this opportunity to take a long hard look at RS combat and try to make it deeper, more fluid and satisfying instead of the boring, one click, 20 minute fights it is now with next to no variety. Magic more than anything has the ability to boast some exciting combat, such as the use of Damage over Time spells, genuine Slow effect and Fast effect spells etc. rather than the boring old "same speed, bigger number" thing that makes combat monotonous.
  22. I think this is a fantastic idea for the game. Having a weekend event like this brings the entire RS community together. It reminds me a lot of BG weekends in WoW. I think that the extra exp won't affect the economy too much, especially not as much as a lot of you all are making it out to be. The fact that Jagex announced that the bonus exp will only be for a maximum of 10 hours will mean that players will only be extra motivated for a maximum of 10 hours. And the diminishing returns on bonus exp further lessens the "cheap factor" of the weekend and makes it more about group fun in addition to extra exp. If Jagex didn't disclose the extent of the bonus exp, then it would have probably imbalanced the GE severely but thankfully, they were open about it. I think this is going to be quite popular and I wouldn't be surprised if this becomes a regular, monthly event for members. Maybe even once or twice a year for free players.
  23. I agree, and on top of that, make it optional. Like having HD. But you don't have a choice really, like the graphics. Unless you WANT to be streaming megabytes of data for every song. Jagex wants as many people able to access their game as possible and I think that's commendable. Even if you made it optional, I'm sure it's just as complicated as making HD was - would you really want them to spend their time making slightly improved audio at the expense of other updates? Everybody said "do you really want them to spend their time making slightly improved graphics at the expense of other updates" before HD came out. And it's extremely obvious now that HD was something the game required for further growth and sustainability. I think you might be underestimating the effect that good sound can have on a game. It is just as important to have excellent sound as it is to have excellent graphics. Currently, RuneScape has some pretty good graphics for a browser game and they've been focusing on improving and maintaining a specific art style in the game ever since the upgrade of HD graphics. It's however being held back by the sound, which is still very primitive and it negatively affects the overall presentation and immersive factor of the game. So I think, presentation-wise, improved sound should be something that they should look at seriously and they must find a way of implementing it in their game. In fact, I wouldn't be surprised that they are working diligently at improving the sound quality as we speak. Jagex is loaded with smart people who know that it is the next natural step in their presentation upgrades.
  24. I like your idea on the heal upgrades for the beef. And perhaps because succulent beef only heals 9 hp at level 65, it could give some temporary bonuses or buffs? For example, eating succulent beef empowers the user with the endurance of a bull, thus increasing defense by 5% for 1 minute. About the grills of various metals, I think this is a great idea and can be expanded to include the ability to create various cooking materials, tools etc. This could bring in the Construction skill, such as building a backyard grill would require certain pieces of material: -Steel rods -Heat-treated Steel bowl (heat-treated by smelting 25 fire runes along with the iron and 2 coal ores, then smithing the bowl out of the heat-treated bar) -Adamantite grill -etc. This could bring in various other skills to make things more integrated. That's what I was thinking as well with the temp. weapon upgrades. My thought process was: The game is called "RUNEScape". Why not make Runes more central in their application in various skills, instead of just being limited to Runecrafting and Magic.
  25. Hmm...interesting point. See, I've never played the P2P game and so I was never sure as to the implications of my suggestion. So, to you and all of the other P2P players, what are possible drawbacks are there to having automatic doors as I described in the OP. If so, any solutions to those problems?
