Gaming can make a better world
This would be an inspiring idea if 90% of the people I have met on the internet were not the most vile, ignorant, arrogant, rude, and STUPID people I have ever met in my entire life. I have played the "epic adventure" World of Warcraft, and my experience differs greatly from the illusion that this woman is under. First of all, the game is overly simplistic in nature. Second of all...honestly...people SUCK AT GAMES. I am sorry, but they honestly do. It is unbelievable how many life-long gamers have level 80 in World of Warcraft and they honestly just SUCK. They are terrible, they are stupid, and they don't even fully understand the simplist instructions. If we were to harness the man-hours that Mr. Joe-Shmoe "I equip my level 80 DK with spellpower gear" there would need to be the online equivilant of a garbage man or fast food service worker. Out of the billions of hours that stupid people are playing videogames, there is a tiny percent that would be of any use to mankind. I think you need more than just QUANTITY of hours to solve mankind's problems. The intellectual quality of the mass of online gamers is disgustingly sup-par. I don't see how we could simply turn man-hours into relevant problem solving. People just do not have the skills. And I disagree with the "optimism" that gamers have. Gamers are not optimists. They are afraid of failure. Failure in games means nothing. You die, lose items, and can easily re-build. People play these online games to get a feeling of virtual sucess because failure in the real world is much more meaningful, and much less reversible.

Does anyone have a copy of what the lady says to you when she gives you the 300Qp helm? I cant find it, though I admit I havent looked through every page of discussion on the topic.

Shattered Heart Discussion
very intriguing. Get 1 rock in 1 skill, get another rock in another skill, go back to the main skill not necessarily useful for all skills, but extremely useful for nightmare skills like hunter awesome find. I think (sadly) that the Mod might be mistaken on this issue. I rarely do farming runs as part of my daily RS activities. About 5-6 days ago, I decided to start doing some of this rock-collecting. The first thing I did was plant seeds, because I knew I needed to start doing that farming stuff since I dislike it, and it is the only skill that I cant "grind out" a rock for (i.e. you have to wait for plants to grow) Anyway, the point of this, is that I got my first farming rock on my first harvesting run. Since then, I have gotten many other rocks for the other skills. In between all this rock gathering, I still havent gotten a second farming rock. I have only done 5-6 harvesting runs (which doesnt seem too bad if my odds for that second rock are lower) but, if the odds were indeed reset to 1x, then I would have to be having some exceptionally bad luck with this second rock (it wouldnt be the first time ive had bad luck...) I mean, I dont have anything to prove this, and I would like to believe the Mod, but seeing that it would mean I am having an AWFUL bit of luck here, I'm witholding my belief atm. I do alotments and herbs btw.

POLL: What were your thoughts on the Bonus XP Weekend?
They should have some way of adjusting it so that people are encouraged to do whatever skill they wanted to. I mean, it would've been great with ANY skill...but lets face it, you can use so many charms in 1 hour that it saves you like 30+ hours of playtime. I used 550 blues, which means I got the exp for 1300-1500 blues. I used 2k crims which means I got the exp from 4-5k crims about. A total savings of like 6k crimson charms worth of exp. If you mined during the event, you would just save 1-1.7 hours per hour for the first couple hours...ammounting to like 6-8 hours saved overall. It just shouldnt be like..."Okay if you ever want to get summoning up, you better just do it this weekend cause itll save SO much time." There should be some type of equalizing factor.

Kalafai, the wailful waif, and her ailing tutorual
Look into a program called "Print Key" This will let you press a key, and it freezes the screen, then you drag a rectangle around the stuff you want to screen shot. Then you just save the small image. Much easier than doing print screen>paint>paste>cut>paste>save or whatever you might be doing already. Uploading still stinks though.

What levels have you gained so far??
I didnt really prepare or calculate very intensely for this. But anyway, I started off with just crafting all the pouches I had mats for. Thought I was gonna get midway through 92. Ended up with 94... =)

It's still Herblaw to me, so I won't stop calling it HP any time soon... Plus its gonna be confusing if people say "OMG got my cons cape today!!" And then they have 99 HP when you were thinking 99 construction.

New Slayer Changes Discussion
I am pretty sure that the initial design of the rock hammer was meant to add a cool little bit of "feel" to the monster. Not to hinder the player. When they realized that people weren't ENJOYING the idea of having a rock hammer, but rather feeling that it wasnt a fun design, I am sure they thought change was needed.

New Slayer Changes Discussion
Theres a couple things I have to say about this. First of all, don't forget that this skill has been out for a verrrrrrrryyyy long time now. For a good couple years, there was nothing but the "hard ways" to train it. Then they start introducing the black mask, new monsters, etc to make the skill easier, and also to make it different for the people who might not have liked it before. I think this is good for the game, and encourages more types of people to enjoy slayer. For instance, I have been slaying since the skill came out, and I actually DO NOT block tasks (as I said earlier). I LIKE the random assignment of monsters, as I feel the original form of the skill was great. I don't like the block list, but the skip option I sometimes will use. If I get like 3 or 4 of the same task in a row I will usually skip, as the main reason I like the skill is for variety. But thats the great thing. If you like slayer in its original form, you dont have to use the skip/block. If you like the wide range of monsters, you can just skip and not block. If you really hate slow tasks and dont like the skill very much, you can make full use of blocking and skipping, in order to make the skill more enjoyable for you.

Bonus XP Weekend: Calculating Your Average XP Multiplier Per Hour
Where I come from, you have to take calc in high school...Junior year is trig for the first half, then pre-calc for the second half. Then you take calc senior year. The smart kids do calc junior year then "advanced math" senior year, which is basically a calc 2.
-
Bonus XP Weekend: Calculating Your Average XP Multiplier Per Hour
Are you people serious? It is just integration of a polynomial...You are integrating a couple terms that are all added together. This means you can do the integral term by term. All it is is the integral of AX^2+BX+C where A B and C are constants.

Give me an example of why it was needed. Don't give me bull**** like Oh because we hit too many zeros. well stfu, because i've seen plenty of zeros in duel arena. I think Jagex should be focusing on how to destroy threats like merchant clans, inflation, and spammers in W2. Those are the changes we need. It would certainly help If Jagex would make updates for the better. Not make it worse for some of us, and better for some of us. We have been telling you, it was needed because the smallest ammount of damage that a new player could recieve was equal to 10% of his HP. The second smallest was 20% of his HP. When you go and fight something, does it hit you for constant 10s and 20s? No. The old system didn't demonstrate how the game works to new players. It gave them an inaccurate feel for the game. Also, tell me EXACTLY how it is "unoriginal" to have 990 health instead of 99? I do not know of any other MMORPGS that have a cap of ~1k health. Runescape is still just as unique, the number just looks different. Also the idea ISNT that we will hit less zeros. We will be hitting the exact same numbers, multiplied by 10. We will be getting hit WITH the same numbers, multiplied by 10. New players, on the other hand, will be getting hit for numbers smaller than possible before, which should hopefully lead to less deaths and give them a better enjoyment of the game.

forgive me but i couldn't stand reading that godsword sentence since it made no sense whatsoever. anyways, i cannot believe you would start all over and go back to the beginning with that quote. just shows that all you want to do is waste my time on your dumb argument. So far, i can tell you're a hater. well, tell you what, hate all you want, brother. IDC what a 12 year old on a computer whos probably 1000s miles across from the sea can say to me. Why is my argument against god swords inferior to the drivel you have spewed out about todays update? You have uselessly hypothesized that, for some reason, you feel this update is Jagex making an attempt to make huge, cool numbers and impress pre-teens. When...THEY MADE A NEWS POST that detailed their entire thought process behind the update. They made it because low levels getting hit for 1 damage meant that they were losing 10% of their health on each hit. This doesnt really seem managable to a new player. However, you just choose to ignore what the reasoning is behind this update, and substitute your own completely made up reasons to hate this update. It is just nonsense. EDIT: Also, you dont think I should go back to where your pointless argument started? You just said "I am being mature in the discussion though, honestly" And I quoted your FIRST post. You decided to start demonstrating your opinion with a bunch of capital letters, and unwarranted negativity that is based on incorrect reasons. You claim you are being mature, so I thought I should remind you of the abraisive post you made that annoyed both me and the rest of the people who are now down your back.

New Slayer Changes Discussion
Well, I dont block tasks because I feel like that would sort of counter the whole point of playing the slayer skill to begin with. But I think the other stuff is pretty cool.

This is not mature, well thought out, or merited. It is a thoughtless rambling. I could make a post saying "OMG GOD SWORDS??? GOD SWORDS WERE NOT IN THE RUNESCAPE I KNOW AND LOVE AND NOW THEY ARE JUST MAKING IT LIKE WOW WHERE YOU KILL BOSS MONSTERS ALL DAY!!!" It just isnt a reason. It isnt. Theres no logic behind your overly negative ramblings. If you are going to have an illogical, purely emotional dislike for something, the mature way to organize your thoughts would be to say "There isn't really any reason for this, but I just don't enjoy the look of the new numbers compared to the numbers I am used to." You, on the other hand, are trying to build some type of argument, and are treating others poorly when they disagree with you. You have no argument and have provided no evidence as to why this update is SO bad. You just don't like it, and you can't frame your personal distaste for an update like it is something that anyone should agree with.

really?! OH really. after reading 5-6 people all posting flagrant pictures, you think upholding valuable discussions can be possible in this forums?! <_< You never attempted to discuss anything. You threw a hissy fit over something that doesn't affect the game. If youd like to have a discussion about the update, be my guest. But you aren't going to make a mature discussion against this update, because there is absolutely nothing wrong with it. It just looks slightly different and everything is on a different scale now.

I have to wonder what life is like at the Jagex offices... "Sir...people are...erm..rioting again?" "What? Over today's update? Why?" "I'm not to sure, sir...all we did was add a zero to everything...?" "Sigh...oh well, just ignore it."

02-Mar-2010 - Cheating and Exploits
Temp is 14 days. Friend just told me, he made 100mil from it. Imo that is pathetic and actually outrages me. If people find out all you get for cheating and making 100m is a 2 week ban it will make people more likely to abuse bugs in the future. I'm so disgusted by it I may even post on the RSOF about it. A friend just told ME darkpoop is lying. (hope you understand what I am getting at...)

02-Mar-2010 - Cheating and Exploits
Actually, if this guy went to work for 8 hours every day, and kept RS running while he worked his 10pm-6am graveyard shift entering data on a spreadsheet program, he could easily get that much "playtime" over many years. Then, I mean, if he got home from work and actually played for 2-3 hours, that'd add up pretty quickly. But since this account got banned for cheating, I think its safe to say it was also a shared account or a gold farmer.

Long Term Effects of "Exp Weekend"
That is a strange argument. In games, I like to plan strategies that will allow me quick and easy victories. Or should I say, quick and easy achievement of objectives. In offline games, the goal being beating the other player/killing a boss. In runescape we just set our own objectives. Not really sure why the type of objective makes an MMO feel like "work" to people.

Long Term Effects of "Exp Weekend"
So did they do this so that every player in RS is gonna train summoning/construction all weekend, taking out cash that was brought in from the dupe bug?
