  1. LOL at the screenshot. Has anyone really been far even as decided to use even go want to do look more like?
  2. Just wanted to post saying that this thread is really sweet, and I think it would be very fun to play your way. However I have one little question...did you REALLY get all of the summoning 2nds without trading anyone at all...? That seems a little farfetched to me. Also..do you like, alch all of those D boots or what? Good luck on making your own SGS from self-gotten drops. Thatll be awesome.
  3. If the actual ammount of Barrows trips Mark has made is seriously ~50, it makes me concerned for how much the developers actually play this game. 50 trips is like a day of playing Barrows. The rest of the article sounded pretty good though. I expected to read a ton of "We have PLANS for....." or "We are THINKING about...." but there was a surprising ammount of "We are in the development stages of....." Which is a good sign, because to go from coming up with ideas to making them takes a good couple months, and these Q&As usually leave me feeling like "Oh the ideas sound nice, but I am pretty sure everything is over 6 months away." But this one leaves me hopeful for some good content that I will see within a few months.
  4. Hey. These are the kinds of updates that used to make me enjoy RS. Maybe I'll spend 6 bucks this month and try playing again.
  5. I really believe Linedancing should be the winner of this competition. It is the only one that really showcases the beauty of Runescape. It just has a great fun atmosphere that makes you think "Boy, he sure has a lot of really good friends who dont mind spending a ton of time going across the world over and over again to get the perfect shots. Excl has a close second place, because the voice overs are the only ones that actually sound good out of all the entries. Also, it is somewhat clever and the costumes are good also. These two were the only options in my book. The other ones were over-edited and IMO that takes away the point of them being made with the runescape game. Might aswell draw it. I think the Cops parody should have definitely been in the finals, because it is a clever and funny video that looks great and is made almost entirely with the runescape game engine without a ton of phony editing.
  6. Actually, I used to feel the same. But, I realized that Jagex is not blind to their own game. They know perfectly well what they are doing, and they develop the game according to their vision. However, they ARE out of touch with the player meta-game, and they don't base most of the updates on this meta-game. (by meta-game, I mean the aspects of the game that the players choose to focus mainly on). Do they do a good job at giving players tons of reasons to grind skills for 100s of hours? No. There are little use for 90+ skills. Do they do a good job at maintaining a safe, casual, and fair gaming environment? Absolutely. I think Jagex does a wonderful job with their game, its just not what most players of MMORPGs want these days...
  7. So you don't think it takes dexterity to point your mouse onto different things and click them at the right time? It definitely does. I have played this game since Classic and I can tell you, even when it comes to the most simple tasks, I am BETTER than many people. I can do RC runs, farming runs etc...all FASTER because I can point my mouse better and time things better. Also you speak of Halo and other FPS. Imagine that instead of a crosshair, you see a mouse pointer. In FPS you move a crosshair around a screen and shoot. In RS you move the mouse around and click. There really is little difference. It is all about knowing where to activate your pointing device at the correct time. A lot of people have this misconception of FPS games that you are either good at them or you arent. Like it takes some type of "natural aiming skill". Well I have realized, in my years of playing all types of games, that FPS, for the most part, is NOT more "skill" oriented. At first, it is easy to have this misconception (since it is the way that people make themselves feel better about losing). Most FPS (most good ones, at least) are more strategy oriented than aiming oriented. When you advance your gaming to the professional level, you see that it just isn't aiming. It really isnt that hard to just put a crosshair over somebody's head. Eventually everyone gets to the same point in their shooting, near perfection. If you rely on aiming, you are actually leaving it to luck. Why? Because there is no way to consistently outshoot people. Even the slightest movement by your oponent can make you miss your shot. So how do you win FPS on a professional level? Strategy. You need to know what corners give what angles on the map, you need to know when the power ups are coming back, you need to know all of the sounds in the game and be able to tell where they are coming from. FPS gaming is 95% about this type of stuff, and 5% about your aim.
  8. Question: Answer:
  9. Or make it so that new armor gives a % damage reduction when fighting against players. So then our new weapons can hit for like 60s vs monsters but only hit us for 30s-40s.
  10. Anyone else realize the new WoW skill is...Archeology? Stolen idea from us? Also, to anyone thinking of actually playing WoW...don't. It really gets old...If you just want to level characters and stuff then you might have fun, but if you want to do the "popular" thing and play at max level, I dont see how anyone could stand it for more than a couple months. Raiding is such a complicated process and a huge pain in the [wagon]. It is fun at first when you do 10 man raids and your gear is far from nice, but as soon as you get all your epics it starts to get really stupid and boring. Next thing you know youre spending 3-4 nights of your week waiting around for 25 people to get online so that you can spend 5 hours killing the same bosses you always kill over and over again to just roll the dice and see if you can get a 1% upgrade to your gear...it gets really boring. And the PvP is mediocre at best. Not balanced at all and chances are that youre going to have to grind a new class up to 80 every patch if you want to be the best because there is always one or two classes that just absolutely dominate in arena. That is, till they get nerfed, and then a new class becomes stupidly powerful for like a couple months. Another thing is that they have hardly accomodated their game interface to the modern evolution of the game. They expect you to download and install addons to make the interface look like the way you want it to. Its nice that it can completely be customized...but every time the game is patched, chances are you have to spend a lot of time fixing your outdates addons and making sure that the new versions of them are all configured properly. Overall, WoW just is too much politics and work for me. Not enough kicking back and enjoying the game. It's really all stress. If youre a RL failure who needs a sense of accomplishment from a video game, then WoW is pefect cause theres always work to do. But if you like to leave stress out of your game and just have fun adventuring, WoW is really not that great. I'd hardly call it exciting. All the quests are the same, all the dungeons are really simple...its just a bore. Something I would like to actually point out is that Runescape reeeaaally beats WoW when it comes to quest design. Most RS quests these days have some type of cinematic sequence for you to enjoy. In WoW, all it is is text (which nobody reads). It tells you the number of items to gather/kill/rescue and then you do that and then you get your gold as a reward.
  11. Someone should make a video of the Runescape Great Depression, detailing the 8 months of 2009 where the flow of updates has nearly completely dried up and stopped.
  12. Wow. Whoever wins better damn well bring their video camera and bring us back some hot footage of the Jagex sauna.
  13. Wow. Cool update. Amulet of ranging was long overdue. Weapons look sweet. Any new pics of D2h, godswords, darkbow, cbow? If they have been updated?
  14. Doing different things. *WHOOOOOOOOOOOSH*
  15. What in the HELL'S diversity??
  16. Thats another thing. They are updating a lot of the game, and they also wanted to make old useless features more usefull now. But week after week all I see is more quests that add nothing but QPs to the game. Why try to upgrade things while introducing new useless things? I dont get it. It makes me sad when I think about how awesome this game was...like back when Slayer first came out. God things were amazing.
  17. Months ago, I posted on these forums saying what a joke the game updates have become this year. People believed that I was too hasty in my judgements. Now, months later, things have still not gotten any better at all, and it is good to see that many more people are sick of getting tricked into believing that their subscription fee is worth new quests that give us nothing but exp and quest points. Maybe enough people will stop wasting their money here and Jagex will have to improve the quality, quantity, and safety of their content. More and more people are asking the question "What are they (Jagex) thinking???" To this I say "How many licks does it take to get to the center of a Tootsie Pop?" The world may never know.
  18. Well, heres some food for thought. What if you look at the fact that while you train slayer, you are getting normal exp in whatever combat style you want to use. Does that affect how much of a "reward" you should get from slayer? Because hypothetically, your MAIN goal could be to get maxed melee combats by just doing slayer tasks. So then what you are really focusing on is training melee, but then you get tons of "Free" slayer experience, without focusing to specifically train Slayer. Don't get me wrong, I also think slayer needs some better rewards. After all, 83 slayer is currently better than 85...and 85 is way better than 90. And 90 isn't even halfway to 99 and 99 slayer has virtually no benefit...But, a lot of skills are like this, and I think that Slayer is pretty glamourized right now, so we could be asking for updates to some virtually worthless skills like smithing, fletching, or firemaking.
  19. I used to give out about half of my money, but now I can't do that because RWTing has ruined this game. I remember several occaisons when I would be selling some type of armor or weapon, and the kid would put up a certain ammount of gold, and then add all of his armor, food, etc...just to try to get near "my price". Sometimes I felt really bad when this would happen and ended up telling them that they can just give me the money, and keep their armor so that they can use that fancy new abbysal whip. Sure, it would cost me upwards of 500k sometimes, but I still made more than I had before I got the whip, I made somebody happy, and thus I was happy knowing that somebody else was happy.
  20. I don't really understand why anyone thinks that Slayer is in such need of updates...for the love of god could we get something new/fun/creative for mining and smithing? It would be one thing if the only place you could get Rune armor was from smithing...but christ you can walk up to a store and buy as many rune platebodies as you want to. We need an overhaul of the armor/weapons system here in this game....bump everything down a notch IMO. Make rune mining like level 70, all rune smithable at 80-85, and then at 85 mining and smithing, introduce a new, more powerful metal AND DONT MAKE EVERY MONSTER IN THE GAME DROP THE STUFF ffs. Defeats the purpose of having skills AND monster drops. Monster drops ruin the potential of so many skills in this game, its ridiculous. Imagine if all of a sudden, level 80 crafters could make an Abyssal Whip from leather. Wouldn't that ruin the Slayer skill? Well basically the reverse happened to smithing. Rune smithing used to be amazing because there was a lot of stuff you could only get from player smiths. Now every monster level 70 or higher seems to drop some kind of rune armor. Some other skills could use love...Make a super rare kind of wood, similar to rune ore. New bows, revitalize fletching...hell make new crossbows too and make it so that you can only get the limbs from players who smithed them. A lot of skills need work in this game and I am sick of it going to Slayer, one of the newest skills...
  21. I don't understand. Just because their job is hard doesn't mean they shouldn't be expected to do it well. Lots of people have hard jobs....do you expect your car to run well? It certainly isn't easy to build a car. That doesn't mean that if my car breaks down every month I should still be driving that same car and think "Well Ford, you tried! Good job, I know its hard" Also, bugs do happen, but there are also consequences...Microsoft handles many class action lawsuits when their software breaks down and causes valuable data to be erased. Hell, they are now legally obligated to fix Xbox 360s due to a court case. Errors happen all the time. Companies ship out dangerous/faulty prducts. Yes. It happens, and Jagex does it too. But Jagex doesn't give people any reparations for the displeasure that they have caused. Other companies do.
  22. Customer satisfaction is most important to them? Wow they must think we are really satisfied when we lose 100m+ to glitches every month.
  23. I agree with giving in game incentives for spending real world money. After all thats the whole separation between members and f2p. What I am saying is that I wish they wouldn't have made a statement that "Since your account will be more secure, we will trust you with more bank space." Again, I am not sure if this is a joke, or if they are trying to use fallacies in advertising (which is one of my pet peeves). I hate stuff like infomercials, where they lure you into thinking that the product is more amazing than it actually is. In my opinion, what I wish they would have said was "We are thinking about adding in-game perks to give away when you buy merchandise from the Jagex store." Again, I'm sure that they were just trying to make an attempt at humor or something, but it just SOUNDS like they could be trying to pull the wool over our eyes. With what they said, it sounds like they are trying to say that the REASON you get added bank space is just because your account is secure. This isn't true at all. The reason you are getting extra bank space is just because you gave them extra business. Again, I am not sure if they are just kidding aorund here, or if they are ACTUALLY TRYING to fool us into believing that they aren't giving in game rewards due to financial transactions, but rather that your reward just comes from being "secure". Simply stated: the way they worded their offer sounds like they might be trying to trick/lie to players. This would be upsetting if they intended their statement to be taken literally. It sounds like they could be trying to hide the fact that they are selling bank space (which would be unnecessary, because they are already selling other game content so I don't see why it would be a problem to sell other game features). Maybe they were just being sarcastic, but I know that a lot of children who play this game, or stupid people in general, could have read that statement and actually believed that their current bank space is limited by their account security.
  24. The point was that I can't believe they stated it like that...It is one thing to say "if you buy this thing, we'll give you an extra bonus of some more bank space!" But I simply find it shocking that they correlated it with account security. I can't tell if its simply an attempt at humor, or if they are actually trying to convince players that if they make their account more secure, Jagex will be more willing to add bank space to their account. This possibility concerns me, because if somebody ends up actually thinking that bank space actually has anything to do with account security, they might actually buy this thing, with hopes that the one-time space upgrade could eventually turn into other rewards due to the fact that their account is now "secure". Its one thing to try to give buying incentives, but its another thing if they are actually trying to say that the "reason" you get the bank space is due to better security (when we all know that the only reason you will be getting any bank space is due to a real world financial transaction). I hope you understand my thought better now.
