  1. Raw birds shouldn't have ever been added to a store to begin with. Whats next? Sell big bones in a store?
  2. Anyone else notice something particularly disturbing? For all of the questions about making things better...the answers seem to be "We actually have started DISCUSSING this" or "Yes I am working on a high level update to Prayer, but the project is still in PLANNING" or "We do PLAN to fill in the gaps between skills OVER TIME" Really...this is the new improved open Jagex? Sounds like the exact same crap to me. A bunch of uncertain speculation, always telling us that the cool stuff is coming, but currently in planning. Also....who wouldn't have guessed that they were going to make high-end content OVER TIME? That seems blatantly obvious to me...the question everybody wants answered is is it coming this year? Or three years from now when that 95 slayer monster isn't going to be a big deal because the population already has 99 slayer. I'm frankly not convinced with the "new direction" that they claim to be going in. There have been a ton of questions with people concerned about high level content, and there have been posts on all fansite forums talking about the fact that we NEED to fill in the skill gaps. The answer they gave us is basically them acknowledging that this problem has been going on for years, and they are completely embarassed that they have no answers for the people asking about high level content, because it is still way too far away... Typically a game likes to give players more things to do as they get further in the game, not build you up then stop delivering at about halfway through. As of now, I have stopped my membership. They have 15 days of my playtime left to show me that this game will be worth my continued play, or I will be F2P for the first time in 5 years.
  3. Just thought I would post that the comments in this thread have filled my day with many lolz. =D> Why would he fake the picture and make the date so that it is in the future? Just thinking of the motivations behind that make my head spin...lol. You people act like he took a set up screenshot, and then his computer sensed the faking so it tried to defend us all by putting a fake date on it beyond his control.... Nice luck bro.
  4. What I never understood is the fact that it is called "Behind the Scenes" but yet offered no insight to what was going on behind the scenes and instead just listed what updates WERE COMING that month. I think that if Jagex would give us an actual BEHIND THE SCENES on the first weekday of every month, that would leave the players happy and also give the dev's their creative freedom. Just tell us what things are closest to completion every month, and tell us how things are going that are far away. No need to say "week 1: udate to fletching, week 2: new quest" just say "remember our fishing mini game we mentioned that was far away last month? well guess what! progress is going great and we can expect to release it soon" or even "this month we have been working on a huge surprise...but youll have to keep your eyes posted here for any more info than that!" Also it would be nice to get some behind the scenes news about the stuff that appears in "patch notes". Just some news like "we have been working for awhile on ways to make it easier for you to ______ when you are trying to _______ " They don't even have to specifically say what the change is, just a little news that the change is coming would be cool. MMG says that the new approach with the company is to be a little more open with us...well, it seems like a lot of us are feeling left out in the dark when you get rid of a monthly progress report...
  5. You're still not really adressing the point here. The point we are making is that we feel it would be better to let the majority roll back a normal day's play than to let the affected group be scarred by a grossly unfair loss. The arument is that I would rather get a solo hilt drop rolled back than continue playing knowing that some poor person somewhere with their brand new gear, had a teleport prepared, RoL on, and then got victimized by a bug. But I understand where you are coming from. "Why give up my items? Why not he just live without his? It doesnt make sense to want to give up my stuff only to give his stuff back." But the difference is control of the situation. They lost items unfairly due to a cheater...so we look at the two options: a.) Don't roll back: letting the unaffected have their progress for that game time and thus leaving a permanent stain on the people who were victimized by the bug. b.) Roll back the servers: giving the affected their items back, but "taking away" from the other people. However, this only takes away ONE DAY from those people, when we could be giving back so much more to some poor noob who was fighting the giant mole for the first time and lost 80% of his money due to this bug.
  6. He wrote a well thought and logically structured post, you wrote a mean-spirited rant with name calling, and you think that HE is the one that forces opinions on people? I agree with the OP. All of the anti-trade updates have completely killed RS and made the community so much worse. I used to have fun playing this game with my friends. With my main, I would give friends money so that they could make pures and we could go PK together. Now I cant help my own friends have an easier time in the game. These updates really limit the interaction between players and after a year of this, I am nearly ready to abandon my 6 year stretch with this game just because so many of the most fun elements have been stolen.
  7. It is good to know that somebody else shares my opinion, and I think you stated it a little more precisely than I have. :) I think the main thing in question here is the classic dispute over the definition of justice. I like to think that justice is simply a way of making sure that things are kept fair. If a large group of people suffer due to things that were beyond their control, I think that it is only fair for the unaffected group to take a hit in return if it means they can set right what went wrong.
  8. Funny how you didn't even seem to notice that the "tone" I used was nothing but a copy of your original post... Funny how you realized that you couldn't put me down as a selfish person, so instead are now trying to make your argument about a completely irrelevant contradiction. Also, I am not saying that, right now, there SHOULD be a rollback. But, I don't understand why anyone would HAVE BEEN completely opposed to the idea in general. There's just not been any good anti-rollback arguments. They've all been extremely self centered and inconsiderate. Anything that somebody gained under this update was under their control and a normal day's gain. Anything that people lost because of this bug was no fault of their own and they have been victimized by poor game design. Not to mention, people who may have abused te bug and gotten away with it, gaining unfair gains. I think that with glitches this bad the most fair and reasonable thing to do is just roll everybody back to where they started before the glitch happened. It's obviously too late to do it now, in this particular situation, but what I was arguing against was the attitude people have like "omg no I just got ____ good drop, a roll back would def be stupid!!!" thus meaning there would NEVER be grounds for a rollback, because they wouldn't be able to initiate it immediately, and there are always going to be more people who didnt abuse/get harmed than there are innocent bystanders. If you say that this situation DIDNT call for a rollback, then what situation does? My problem with what I have seen is just that people seem to be saying that it would never be appropriate to roll back the game, which seems really self centered... Also, theres no reason why my real world analogies are ridiculous. You say its pixels in a game, but your argument would only hold true if they were entirely self existant. We own our pixels, we identify with our avatar, and there is a REAL PERSON on the other side of that monitor. These are real people who care about a hobby, and just because its a virtual game doesn't make it any less devastating when your posessions are destroyed. You own your virtual items just as much as you own your real life items. You say they are worthless, but they are not. They are worthless IN REAL LIFE, but guess what...real life items are worthless in runescape as well. When a small group of people suffer an injustice such as this, it is the responsibility of the minority to say "Since you lost something beyond your control, and we can now control the situation, it would only be fair for us to take a hit so we can all be put back to where we were before the injustice happened."
  9. Anyone sayin "AH MY GAH!!! Rollback plocks I lost a lot of $$$!!" are complete selfish fools. So, you're saying that getting back some gold or a couple of items for you would be worth eliminating a full day of skilling, combat, experience and monetary gains of HUNDREDS OF THOUSANDS of other players? Completely disgusting. Go play a solo RPG if you're not gonna give a [cabbage] about the community you play in. A roll back is a roll back for everyone. You lose some virtual wealth, people not affected by the bug lose a whole day of training, perhaps some super lucky drops they have been spent months camping and hoping for...Yeah its clear to me that we should discourage people from playing this game as much as possible while you keep caring about yourself. There, fixed that for you. I lost NOTHING due to this bug, and made a good 5m off of GE merchanting and got a whip drop in the time that this bug was being abused. Want to change your tone? If I was running this game, and hypothetically 10,000 people were unaffected by the bug, and 100 people unfairly were affected by the bug without having any way of knowing they were in danger, I would rule in favor of the 100 customers who may have suffered unimaginable losses due to the bug. For the people who gained skill exp, gained money, etc....their gains were the same as any normal day. A day's rollback would roll their progress back one day. But, if someone lost full void, fire cape, etc etc...ONLY because of the bug's existance, a day's rollback would give them back more than a day's worth of playing this game. The people who were unaffected experienced nothing beyond a usual day's Runescape, but the people who were affected encountered losses that were completely unthinkable, and were not part of the Runescape design. If Tylenol knows that 100 bottles of their medicine became contaminated with a deadly agent, but they had NO record of where those bottles went, they recall ALL the medicine. They don't just leave it on the shelves and say "Well, ten million people are gonna be satisfied customers but 100 are gonna die, sounds like a fair trade. I'd rather let that small majority die then posing a minor inconvenience to anyone who would buy the untainted medicine." I'm frankly sink of the "Good for the majority" outlook that so many people have on everything. If everything was good for the majority then we would still be widely accepting racist actions in our day to day life. We need to focus on doing things that make EVERYBODY happy, not just completely neglect small groups of people. This is the same reason that there has been 1 update in the past year that was aimed at a player of my level. Most people can't do stuff thats aimed at people with 99 combats, so we just don't get the content. Whats the point of even having levels if theres so little to get when you skill up? We should all just have level 90 characters that can't gain any experience, that way everybody can enjoy every update.
  10. Anyone sayin "AH MY GAH!!! No rollback plocks I just got a dragon med drop!!" Are complete selfish fools. So, you're saying that rolling back a normal day of play for you would not be worth eliminating the evidence of a horribly abused and incredibly devastating bug? Completely disgusting. Go play a solo RPG if you're not gonna give a [cabbage] about the community you play in. A roll back is a roll back for everyone. You lose a day's work, people affected by the bug get fire capes, torsos, dfs, void, etc back...Yeah its clear to me that we should discourage people from playing this game as much as possible while you keep caring about yourself.
  11. We have 148 players who have COMPLETELY MAXED their skills. We have eight players with A BILLION EXP. (are there more?) We have tons of players who have gotten 200m exp in a certain skill, even though most skills stop having a use well before 6m exp. Countless players have 50m+ exp in skills that they just enjoy...and they get no reward other than what is shown in the high score. Seriously? How long does it just take to make a new achievement cape MINIMUM. Just make a cape for having all skills maxed. Take the current cape, draw a different picture on it...there you go. ANYTHING. A pet? A special hat? The ideas are limitless. IT DOES NOT TAKE AN ENORMOUS EFFORT TO CREATE SOME TYPE OF REWARD FOR ALL THOSE PEOPLE WHO HAVE PUT THAT MUCH TIME INTO THE GAME. It would be hard to create in game uses, such as being able to smith new armors if you have 100m smithing exp, but I see absolutely no reason why there isn't one piece of content in this game that requires even a 99 skill (barring, of course the achievement capes). Theres the construction stuff...but you can use construction boosters to build the high level things. Theres smithing rune plates...but oh wait, by doing clues or killing monsters you accumulate 100s of sets of rune in your lifetime and there is no reason to ever make a rune platebody. Plus, plate smithing came in RSC. Since then, the only 99 skill req we have added is to have a damn dragon in your house? Also, I am aware that summoning gave us some things that required 96+ and a 99 skill. However this is a combat skill, and the familiar you get at 99 is 100% only useful during combat...nothing interesting or high leveled has been put into a gathering/crafting skill in YEARS.
  12. the blades were made from a race similar to the saradomin boss (Icyenes) who also made the saradomin sword. the corresponding hilts were made from their perspective gods so the it looks identical but each carries different types of specials. Okay i get the differnet specs, but why doenst the Swords themself look all the same? and why on earth do they go from 18mil to 66mil? why not all simmilar prices? First of all, do you mean to ask "Why DO the swords look all the same?" If this was your question...the swords look all the same because they are all the same sword....Every boss and sub-boss in the GWD is capable of dropping godsword shards. There are three of these shards, which are smithed together to make a godsword blade. Then, the bosses drop only the HILT of the sword, meaning that for each boss there is only a different hilt, but the same sword. Also, the prices vary for multiple reasons. Obviously the ones with less usefull special attacks are going to be cheaper. The AGS is the most expensive because it is the highest hitting single-damage in the game. SGS is slightly below this because it heals HP and Prayer points for free. ZGS is cheaper because its special is not used nearly as widely, but the boss is not as popular because he can hit through prayer and poison you really hard. However he is still easy. But, he is not as easy as the Bandos boss. First of all, bandos has the easiest kill count. Second of all, bandos fights are only hard for one person, the person who has to protect from his melee. The rest of the people just flick on range protection and sit there watching their character swing away...and the BGS is probably the least desireable special attack.
  13. Get rid of the death drops. All of the items you can receive from the PvP system (except for the PvP armor) are all items that come from other features in the game. There is no reason to be able to get a drop such as a fury amulet, when your opponent may have not even lost one. Putting these into PvP drop tables devalues the use of the original system. Getting infinity robes from PvP drops is also completely inexcusable. That set is hard to obtain from the MTA, and now all of a sudden you can get it in an instant if you are lucky enough... Have the players drop Honor coins. You can spend these at a PvP vendor to buy items unique to the PvP scene. The ammount of coins dropped depends on factors similar to the ones currently in place. It also could be interesting if players could "sign up" to represent a specific team on a PvP world, allowing for some more interesting and fun rewards that could be obtained only by getting "blue/green/red/yellow honor coins" Make the rewards unsellable but USEFUL for PvP purposes in mind.
  14. This is not what I was talking about. What I mean is that somebody might go to pest control, play the game for the first time, and think "Hey I'm gonna train here, save all my tickets, then surprise my friends by gaining 6m attack exp in a day!!" Then, that player could become frustrated when he finds out that you can't have more than 250 points. If this player would then argue "Hey, shouldn't we be allowed to have more than 250 PC points?" and his argument would be no different from the one made here for runecrafting gloves. Frankly, there really is no reason that somebody shouldn't be allowed to get tons of PC points. We have other features in the game that are like this...the brimhaven agility dungeon and the thieving garden come to mind. The point is that there is "no reason" for a lot of the restrictions in this game. As you can see from my examples, the "don't gain 13m exp in a day" theme is not universal among all things in Runescape. There is not a huge demand from the player base to let us stack tons of RC gloves in the bank, there are a bunch of people who oppose the idea, and then there are most people who don't really care either way. There is no reason to favor your ideas of "make these rewards more convenient" because there are just as many people who would strongly disagree, out of fear that RC would become "too easy". Also, I'd just like to state that my personal view on the subject is that I don't care. I am not one of the people who will throw a hissy fit if the skill I trained to 99 suddenly becomes 2 times faster. I've been around since RSC, and god knows I've seen the true meaning of "nerf". But I don't personally think that making the gloves stack in the bank would even be bad for the game...times change and the game changes, and that keeps it interesting! But, what I just want to do is to show that there isn't really a logical reason to change it. If nobody ever played FoG or bought the gloves, I would say the feature needed to be updated. But, in the current state of play, there is no reason to overturn the initial developmental choice. The only reason is to please the group of people who want the system made easier. But, in doing this, you would displease all the people who DISLIKE this idea. It just wouldn't be fair. The change COULD be made, but there is no reason to say that this is something that SHOULD be done.
  15. I still don't like your argument that Jagex should keep things in their current state to keep FoG populated. If people running back to Fist of Guthix to get another pair of gloves, then leaving, is the only thing that keeps Fist of Guthix populated, then Fist of Guthix has failed as a minigame. I don't think that this is the case, and that Fist of Guthix will be perfectly fine without it. I don't think you are understanding what I am saying. Giving the users a reason to return to the area helps people to remember the mini game exists, and repeated trips to the area help promote familiarity and cofortability with the enviroment. I firmly believe that the reason Castle Wars is so popular is just because of how convenient it is to get there, and it is often times the best bank to teleport to. Also, looking at Trouble Brewing, it is pretty easy to see that one of the major reasons for failure is that nobody ever has any reason to go there other than to play the game. It is not easily acessible, and you'll almost never be in a position where you say..."Hey, I'm near trouble brewing...I'll play a game while I'm here!" And, even if you do find yourself saying that, you won't find a game unless you go to the TB world. Furthermore, this is not the reason that things stay in their current state, but rather it is the reason that the game was designed to function this way. The reason that things should stay in their current state is that there is simply no reason to revoke initial design choices. If we do it with FoG rewards, why stop anywhere? Should we remove restrictions from all mini games? Should you be able to accumulate infinite PC points before turning them in? Infinite pizazz? Should stealing creation rewards be made to stack in your bank? There is no reason that changing the FoG rewards would be good for the game. The only reason is that you would find it more convenient. If we start changing that then we have to start looking at all the other little "inconveniences" around runescape that were obviously DESIGNED TO BE an inconvenience. It might seem dumb to compare it to PC points, but thats because it would seem dumb to you, because what you are would want from the mini game is not effected by the 250 point limit. However, I know there are tons of people who would want to go to the mini game at level 80 attack, and then save up enough points to jump up to 99 attack in one day. This might sound dumb to you, but for some people the 250 point cap is an inconvenience. This is completely analogous to the FoG situation. While you find it inconvenient, I (and obviously Jagex) think that it is a good idea. I really like the fact that there is a motivation to play FoG to get the points for one set of gloves, then go RC, then come play more, then go RC. If you save up your tokens in a huge marathon of FoG, then it is a complete waste of your time to go back and just pick up a new set of gloves. But, the system is trying to encourage you to use the rewards as you get them, thus promoting the ongoing play of the game. Basically, the only reason I have seen presented is that the design is inconvenient. Changing the design because of your perception of inconvenience would just be bad game design. There is no reason to favor the people who think the design is bad, when there are already people who think the design is just fine. I don't see tons of topics popping up about this, and the game has remained fairly popular in its year of play thus far, so it would seem to me that the majority of people do not see this as a terribly inconvenient design flaw.
  16. I'd also like to point out that they tried to do a similar thing with Stealing Creation. You could take multiple tools, however you only got one per game, and you had to buy it after playing a game. This meant that you either had to have a ton of empty bank space, or you could play a few games, use the tools, play more, use the tools. Using this type of system I think would have been a great benefit, helping to ensure that there would always be people looking to play, and not a TON of people within the first month, but then that number would drop off once people got their "goal" ammount of tools. Then, unless everyone went back to start new goals at the same time, players who are actually new to the game might go to SC for the first time and there wouldn't be many people there. This is all hypothetical, of course. SC is actually a great game and the rewards are great no matter how they would be disbursed. This, like PC, will keep people coming for a long time.
  17. I've figured that out now ^>^ thanks for the advice though, perhaps you could answer my question? A lot of people say that it is "3 weeks from 1-99 hunter, playing 6 hours a day". So for you I'd say you have about 10 days left, playing 6 hours a day. You could go here: http://www.tip.it/runescape/?page=hunting_calc.htm To figure out how many chins you need for 99 hunter. Then, observe how many you get in an hour at 92 and then divide the big number by the small number. Theres your answer!
  18. Did you try looking at the forum titles? That can help you figure out where to post things.
  19. But, the "operate" feature is not something that was inherently designed to be avoided. Once they thought of the operate feature, they started implementing it on a lot of equipment. Now, it is common to put it in. On the other hand, there are very few items in this game that we can't have more than one of. If you can't own more than one of something, odds are that Jagex intended it to be that way in favor of allowing you to have multiples. Not game time, but world time. What Jagex WANTS you to do is say "There is NO REASON for me to play tons of games and save up tokens, but run back here anyway". Then, it makes it logical for you to play the game till you get an item you want, use the item, then make the trip back up there and play the game some more. Even if you still want to stockpile the tokens, they are getting you to the area in order to use them, keeping the area more active and populated. If the game came out a year ago, and I was a F2p player, I couldve just set out a RC goal, stocked up all the stackable gloves I wanted, and never had a reason to go back to the FoG territory again (if this idea was in place). Having anything that gives players an incentive for setting foot on the mini-game territory will help promote the popularity of the game for years to come. I believe that part of the reason that Castle wars is so popular is just because tons of people teleport there all the time and they never forget that the game exists. Compare CW with Trouble Brewing. Both games have similar rewards (fancy lookin' clothes), and they each have one team against another, but trouble brewing is almost unplayed these days. If players had more of a reason to be in the trouble brewing area, I know that the game would still be lively.
  20. Your system doesn't really make sense. The "total wealth gained" might not be the best way to approach this. Maybe you could look at that data in addition, but I think the best thing to do would be to have an actual tally of drop percentages with the RoW and without the RoW. For example: Monster A without RoW: 28 herbs 17 mith scimitars 8 fire rune drops 7 rune chains 2 rune scimitars Monster A with RoW: 19 herbs 12 mith scimitars 11 fire rune drops 9 rune chains 3 rune scims Get my drift? Then we can make an actual estimate at the percentages and how they change from RoW to no RoW. I also think that 100 monsters sounds like a good enough number to me. The point is to get 100s of submissions each with 100 drops and I think that if we could get a few people working at this, we would start to see a fairly accurate pattern. Plus, 100 monsters is not that many and will encourage average people to actually help gather info. Definitely wait awhile before coming to any conclusions though. This topic comes up every now and then, and we all dismiss it as something that we will simply never know. But...honestly, this time it doesn't seem like such a bad idea. As long as you are able to keep the thread up to date. : ;) I'll probably work on submitting some data soon.
  21. But allowing you to run faster would save time aswell. Giving the amulet of glory 8 charges would also save time. Just because something saves time and makes the game easier for you doesn't mean it would make a valid update. I think RC is fine as it is. Also, if people have to GO to the mini game area to buy more gloves, that promotes thinking along the lines of "Well, if I'm gonna be coming back here again, why should I get tons of tokens now and then walk back here to buy the gloves when I could just get the tokens I need for now, then when I come back I can play the game again for more tokens for another pair!" Forcing people to go back to the mini game helps to ensure that the mini game area will stay populated and people won't just go there to get what they need and then never come back.
  22. My post seems to have been deleted in a storm of delete-happy censorship, but I am reposting it anyway because I think it could help you out. To get a better response from the community, try putting a little thought into your subject. As it stands, you suggest that we should have the restriction removed but provide no real analysis of the situation. Think to yourself "Why is this like this in the first place?" There is a very obvious answer to this, and it can be found in your own thoughts. You are thinking "Boy, wouldn't it be easier if I could just stockpile these gloves?" Well, obviously that is the reason they implemented the restriction! You can't just keep making the game easier otherwise eventually you'll log on and not have to train any skills at all, you'll just have as much exp as you'd like from the moment you start your character. The bottom line is that the only thing your idea does is make one particular aspect of the game easier. Why should it be made easier instead of any other skill in the game? RC, as it stands, is one of the way harder skills..should we just keep making its features easier and easier until RC is no longer one of the slowest skills? Try organizing your ideas a little better and coming up with actual reasons that you think the restriction is a bad idea.
  23. This is absolutely idiotic. This is like saying they made a typo when it says "colour". "Thru" is completely fine. I guess you think they make typos when things are called "Addy _____"? Cause addy isn't a word.
  24. Not true. Sara hilt was frozen for 1 week, arama hilt for 3. Arma hilts lost around 10m, so 3 weeks worth of hilts lost an average of 5m. Sara lost an average of 1 weeks worth at 3m. Both sara and arma together were less then bandos and zammy, which were not frozen, and thus drained 3x 3m GP out in the same time. So within roughly 3 weeks of coinshare coming out, all of the coins introduced were taken out, and it has been draining ever since. In short: It created a very, very small amount of GP in the first week, which was drained out within 3 weeks, and has been drained thousands of times over in the months since then :| If you wrote this a week after coinshare came out, it would have been relevant for a few days. Now it's just pointless, the effect is the exact opposite of what you said  QFT It's not like AGS was frozen at 120m until last week. It started to see regular trade after less than a month, and has been traded on the GE ever since. OP: Next time you make a post, try making the concerns based on actual data, not saying "WAIT...arma hilt wasnt being bought on the GE for....an ammount of time that I have no idea....and I have no idea about how the GE works...so instead of looking into any of this....PANIC!!!!"
  25. Well actually, it seems that with the new holiday events, they are giving you emotes that you missed. I never had snowman dance because I didn't do last christmas, but I got it after I did this one. However they aren't doing this for the really old events it seems.
