  1. Agreed. Though I have been finding success in buying 10 of a wide range of items instead of just buying 40 whips at a time. It takes a little more work but there can also be a larger chance of success. Then again I am a GE noob to begin with...
  2. I really don't understand how a character like yours doesn't have RFD done...
  3. The luring that is against the rules is decieving another player and bringing them into an area where they think they are safe because you tell them they are safe, but then you inentionally kill them or let them die. Getting a monster on you, and letting it follow you to another player and getting them killed is not "luring" and is not against the rules in ANY way.
  4. haha thats so awesome :[] should I really do that ?I might if it'd be a really good invesment even in the future. If you got all D-arrows you'd make a ton of money for no effort...haha. I'm not really sure on the quality of the investment, but I know it sure would be a great "Rate this"...
  5. Apparently someone felt my other reply was inappropriate and deleted it, so I'll make my response again. What I highlighted in bold is the exact question I asked you to begin with. Assuming an equal chance of any damage between 0 and 30 means that the average damage is 15, which is also obviously the midpoint damage. In many situations, this is far from the truth. At GWD, you take two rounds from the level 130 minions to every one round dealt by the boss. So to begin with, lower level monsters are engaging in combat with you twice as often as a high level one. Also, using arma as an example, you protect from the ranged attack and only take the magic ones, so that means the boss engages in unprevented combat even less often than half of the time. One situation I can probably think of where the average damage would be close to the median is KQ. There you are usually only in combat with the KQ and it seems like her highest hits are just as likely as the lowest ones. In fact, it might be more likely to get hit for higher damage, which would make the shield function ABOVE the 17.5% average damage prevented. However, I think most people would agree with me in saying that in most situations in RS, you take a LOT of lower damages/0s compared to the above-median damages. Also though, IF the shield ignores zeros, its functionality would be much more impressive.
  6. But, if you are in a situation where you are likely to be hit many low numbers, peppered by a few high numbers then the shield isn't always going to have an average prevention of 17.5% Nowhere did I say that it can NEVER prevent 17.5%, and it quite possibly could prevent MORE than 17.5% of the total damage if it activated on 7 30s and then 3 1s. That would be very near to preventing the full 25% of your total damage taken. The fact is that in most GWD situations and those similar to it, you will be taking several 20-30 damages, but there are going to be a far greater number of low numbers, meaning that the lower numbers are then more likely to get blocked than the higher numbers. If each and every damage we took was a true random number between zero and some certain max damage then statistically speaking the shield would perform as an overall 17.5% damage reducer. But, when you take LOADS of low damage, peppered here and there by occasional high damages, the effect is more likely to be applied to a low number, thus meaning that your TOTAL reduced damage for the trip should end up under 17.5% You talk all about the probability of the ABILITY itself, somehow thinking you can completely ignore how probable it is for you to take certain damages. 17.5% of TOTAL damage taken over a period of time will NOT be prevented if the ability has a large liklihood of activating when you take a small damage. What REALLY depends on the judgement of this shield is if the ability has the chance of "Activating" on a zero damage hit. If you are in a situation where the max damage you can take is a 30, and the average damage you take per round of combat is a 15, then the shield will perform statistically at 17.5% However if you have a low average damage per round of combat, the shield will under perform. From all my monster hunting experience, I am fairly positive that I would be correct in saying that in a place like GWD, depending on the boss, you can find situations like these where you take mainly low damages, complimented by far less frequent high damages. And I'll restate this one last time: these occasional high damages (20s-30s) greatly increase the total damage. Because they are, in fact, infrequent, that means they have a lower chance of being prevented and the more frequent low damages have a higher chance of being prevented. Is it not true that the % of damage prevented is "total damage prevented" divided by "total damage that would have been applied if there was no prevention effect"? When you get hit a rare high number, the denominator of the ratio will always jump up high. However, because it is a rare damage, there is a good chance that the "total damage prevented" will not increase because there is a good chance it will not be prevented. If you still disagree with me, let me ask you this: If I have a computer program that has a 70% chance of spitting out a "Yes" answer(with a 30% chance of it saying No), and I want to make it give me 10 answers, then on the first 7 answers it gives me a "yes", what will the statistical probability be that any of the three remaining answers will say "Yes"? That'll let me know if you disagree because of some specific way you are thinking about RS or if you truly don't have any idea what the numbers really mean when you talk about factoring what chance you have to take certain damage. But this probably won't be read in full anyway. Its only simple math.
  7. this proves it. most tip.it ers are stupid.. Are you saying that the "average damage" you take is directly between the max damage you will take and zero? I really don't think this is the case...When I'm at GWD I can take 30s from bandos when I'm tanking, but that doesn't mean that on average, each attack does 15 damage to me (including minions and everything). You take way more low numbers and zeros from the minis than you do their high 20s. This gets even more clear when you go to DKs. The spins hit tons of zeros for minutes then score a 8 out of nowhere. Calling the "average hit" the midpoint between zero and the max hit is definitely wrong in most situations. Also, it depends on whether or not there is a chance that the prevention effect can be "applied" to zero hits Just curious how you're getting your number, as that would be a lot more helpful to post than just a blatant insult at our intelligence without any numbers or calculations to back your words up. Anyone can just say that the other person is an idiot and not give a reason.
  8. If I had that much money I would spend at least 100m of it on dragon impling jars, and make a thread showing me opening like 150 jars and seeing what rewards I get.
  9. Theres something that a lot of people are missing about the Divine shield that makes it a whole lot worse...The average prevention effect does NOT work out to an overall 17.5% damage reduction rate. Why? Because we don't always get hit the same numbers. Imagine you get hit like this: 4 4 30 4 30 4 4 4 4 30. If the ability triggers on all seven 4s, it will have gone off 70% of the time. But, only 7 damage points are prevented total, which means that instead of getting hit 118, you get hit 111. This translates to only a 5.9% reduction of your total damage taken. This is definitely an extreme and unlikely case, but you get the picture. The REAL usefulness of this shield is STILL yet to be determined by one question: CAN the ability trigger on a zero-damage hit? If so, this shield will be far inferior in nearly every occasion.
  10. Take out those buy offers, and spend it ALL on d-impling jars...its what I would do.
  11. Sure, it may be possible to trio with only guthans and unicorn, but I know of many people who definitely do not like to use guthans. Also many, like myself, do not even own a set due to the limited use and unreliability of it. Its easy to look at something and say "it already works this way, so why bring anything new to the equation?" Well, thats when it all comes down to real world testing instead of little calculations based on theory. Theoretically, you dont even need a unicorn at sara GWD, you could just use a fruit bat to heal as much HP. However, due to the functionality of the unicorn versus having to pick up and eat so many tiny fruits...I would never even consider using the fruit bat. You are trying to imagine using this shield with current strategies and setups, while the fact remains that these shields bring entirely new concepts into the game. It may turn out that going with the E shield and Verac armor + whip is the best thing to do...or, since you're basing so much off of prayer, maybe even prostelyte armor would be best! We really aren't gonna know what works until people actually use the shields. Thinking like this is the whole reason people have negative views on summoning. Did summoning really bring anything BRAND NEW to the game? Not really, for the most part it merely assists in doing things we were already perfectly capable of doing before. People were perfectly satisfied using full guthans at DKs before, and it seemed like you could already stay forever, so who needs some fruity little unicorn? If you look at updates like this, everything is gonna seem useless until they make an update where the equipment literally allows you to do something never possible before, instead of improving the existing.
  12. I really don't understand your logic. If the shield prevents 8 damage, you lose 4 prayer points. If you get 32 prayer points from a super restore, that means that if you are wielding the Elysian shield, 256 damage will be prevented before you use up a 4 dose restore trying to make up for the prayer drain.. This is quite large compared to what you get from a 4 dose brew (in fact, it is four times what you would get from a four dose brew) It is true that you'll also be taking damage at the same time, but that doesn't change the fact that you will be able to determine how much HP you personally can save with one inventory slot. What I listed above was for 99 prayer and 99 HP. HOWEVER you also have to consider that by the time you PREVENT 256 damage, you will have taken about 597 damage, which translates into over 9 whole brews used to heal the remaining unprevented damage. So it is clear that you can't just take a bunch of restores to places and just expect to heal 7,168 damage with a load of prayer healing. But, it should also be clear to you, that if you can simply change up your ratio a little bit, you can save huge. Say youre going somewhere that you would typically use 18-19 brews at. While using the Elysian shield, you'd need only TWO super restore potions to restore all the prayer that will be drained over using your whole load of brew. This translates into 512 damage that you can prevent by just having the E shield plus those two little restore pots. In case you still haven't been following the math this translates into 8 brew worth of healing. And...in the very long run...2 restores is cheaper than 8 brews. :P HOWEVER (again) the real excitement with this shield comes from our friend the unicorn. It is very possible that a guaranteed 30% damage reduction will open up new areas for people to have their only healing be via unicorn. Not only that, but you may be able to use uni-only at GWD areas with fewer numbers now. Also we must consider possibilities of using some of the current setups, but simply carrying the E shield along for the ride. It could save some headaches at DKs when you get completely wrecked due to bad luck and see that your ppots are in way excess over your health restoring abilities. Swap out the shield and then the ratio will start to balance out. Not saying its the most brilliant idea ever, but its certainly an interesting possibility. *EDIT* Just did some more math for the other shield. If you get a perfect statistical damage prevention (i.e. if the ability honestly activates 7 times for every 10 times you take damage), then 17.5% of all damage will be prevented (in a technical sense). This translates into using 14.85-15.675 brews worth of healing where you would've previously had to use 18-19 brews to heal. Meaning you'll save 3.15-3.325 brews. Comparing this to the E shield, where you will get 8 brews worth of healing from taking 18-19 brews worth of damage, but have to use 2 super restores in addition...it seems very unclear as to what the BETTER shield is. While the two abilities may seem relatively similar, they differ vastly. Im not here to say the E shield is far superior...I'm just here to say that its ridiculous for anyone to be playing it off as a 100% inferior shield.
  13. Not sure why people are thinking that the prayer thing will be not as good...If the shield prevents 8 hp damage, you will lose 4 prayer points. So, assuming your prayer isn't god awful, this shield would be incredible. The higher your prayer gets, the better this deal looks. (cause if you lose 4 prayer at 75 max points, it is a considerably greater loss {percentage} than if you lose 4 points at 99 prayer) Also, super restores can give you 30+ prayer points per dose...which corresponds to preventing 60 damage........ Over 200 HP contained in one inventory slot in the form of a 4 dose prayer potion. Yeah that shield sounds horrible guys. The only thing that could contribute to the unpopularity of this shield is the possible difficulty in making sure you dont get surprised by giant damages and have your prayer shut off.....but stilll....... If you get AGS specced for a 70, the shield will prevent 21 (!!) damage, meaning you walk away getting hit for a 49...and then you lose half of 21 which, if it is rounded up, would be 11 prayer drained. Hardly what I would call un-managable. In fact, youll come across worse effects than this if you spend a day at zammy GWD (Kril slamming through prayer AND draining it, but by more), and that is hardly what I would call the hardest GWD boss. Lets take a look at KQ. She goes to hit you for a 30...you take 21, and lose 5 measly prayer points. Sounds pretty managable to me.
  14. Instead of joining the crowd on this one, I'll go ahead and say the truth that the voices were painfully out of sync with the music.
  15. Am I the only one who thinks that, while there ARE clearly shoulder pads and bare arms in the picture...it seems that the shoulder plating is MUCH larger than that picture that shows the D chain. It should be noted that this is NOT part of the slayer cape because what I am looking at is too far to the side. When I get home I could circle the specific part I find suspicious..I'm talking about the left shoulder most specifically, if anyone else sees
  16. In my experience trying ice barrage on all 4 bosses, not one of them took any type of reasonable damage to make it even considerably worth your time.
  17. I can't get over how useless people think the item loss on death option is...Most serious PKers had 100s of million gold in the bank or in their main, mostly from staking, not getting PKing rewards. You honestly think pures sat there and were thrilled about the fact that they just got another 40k DDS to add into their cash pile of 40m+...right. They just got excited when killing someone else, because there was a good chance their lost items meant more to that player. I also don't predict that the granite market is gonna go THAT nuts...I mean, no matter which granite you BUY, you are going to be paying the same ammount per 500g chunk..and I know I personally would never pay the same price like that and then have to waste my time chiseling it. If miners start cutting their own 500g chunks, that is the only real way I see the market destabilizing.
  18. I can't think of anyone who uses ice barrage primarily for the damage. It is used to freeze opponents, then you usually switch to melee. As others have said, the speed and impact of any magic damage just isn't enough to warrant using it as a main damage dealer. Look at BGS and AGS. BGS has a special that surely seems like it would be great for PvP: it'll usually take out around 20 defense levels from your opponent. However, AGS wins the PvP battle just because of sheer power in the form of damage per second. The freeze is important because if the opponent is too far away, you wont be able to damage them at all. Ice barrage takes care of this problem, does it accurately, AND gives you a little damage while you run up to DDS the opponent. If ice barrage didn't freeze (hard to imagine, i know) then the game would be way different as far as magic is concerned..
  19. Ironically enough, there is no official system of ratings that say "A G-rated FORUM must...." etc etc. If this were a movie, then the guideline would make sense. But, as it is written in the forum rules, the "G rating" is just a turn of phrase and is not meant to be taken literally. There is no official ratings board meant to keep track of online forums and give them letter ratings; the phrase "G-rated" means just to be on your best behaviour at all times and not to post porn or other inappropriate material. Don't forget that you have to be 13 to sign up, and also to play Runescape.
  20. I would just like to point out that you came here asking people for a way to get junk, then you think you find one yourself and you are reluctant to say anything. Good job.
  21. No recession. Nothing is going on with the players. Jagex updated the way that the GE deals with low-volume GE traded items. It is not a coincidence that a bunch of things are falling, and 3rd age prices have started rising, at nearly the same time. Needed to be done due to coinshare...tons of arma hilts were coming into the game, and people would get the cash, but then nobody bought it in the GE. I seriously cant imagine how many hilts sat in the GE while billions of GP kept getting created.
  22. The only things comparable to the AGS spec for KO potential are the dark bow and the dds. Dark bow spec is as good I would say, except for the downfall that you can only spec one time, and you have to wait a real long time before attacking again. The wait time on the AGS is fairly low, and if your last spec you can use nearly KOs the opponent, you dont even have to switch weapons again to finish the opponent. If your dds fails, which it will way more often than the ags does, you need to switch back to a more powerful weapon. Also, you have to switch to the dds to begin with. The only thing dark bow has over AGS is that you can blitz and dbow rush someone from a distance. When you look at the AGS special by itself, as a special weapon, its not that great at all. The rare 70s arent worth the huge price tag. But this isn't what makes the weapon so great. The fact that it is also a godsword to begin with is the complete selling point of the AGS. I cant tell you how many times Ive seen someone get hit down to 10 hp with AGS spec, and then finished off by a NORMAL HIT for a 40+ without needing to change weapons (and, you dont need to CARRY more weapons either) Imagine if the whip had a special that was comparable to the dds. The whip is STILL 1.5m+ after being around for years, and the special is TERRIBLE. AGS (or any GS) as a non spec weapon is nearly the same as using the whip, if not better in some specific scenarios. Then add on the fact that the special attack is one of the highest damaging in the game...youve got a great weapon.
  23. My interpretation of this whole thing is that people don't want to wear Runescape shirts because they don't actually even like the game themselves, but rather are just too addicted to stop playing. I wouldn't wear one, but thats mostly due to the fact that I only wear plain shirts that don't have writing on them.
  24. If I was f2p I would probably kill stuff in the port sarim jail.
  25. little imature kid tryin to act hard... Anyway gratz man, I was going for staff but got the teira insted now working on getting the robes to fill my costume room again =P GJ on reading, idiot.
