This is the stupidest and most ridiculous argument ever. How many retaurants have you owned? Zero? Then you have no right to complain about poor service. How many toy companies have you owned? Zero? You have no right to complain if their toy kills your child. Absolutely terrible and illogical argument. We live in a world where people specialize in crafts for a reason. Not everyone does everything well. We are expected to perform our job well, and in turn we are allowed to expect others to do their job well.

10th July 2009 - The Jagex Anti-Hijack System and DevBlog
WOW I don't understand this AT ALL....does anyone else think that this is worded really strangely? Or that the thought as a whole doesn't really make sense? I don't understand....this quote implies that our current ammount of bankspace is not going to be increased because they are afraid that the account is insecure? I really don't get it. How does account security have anything to do with bank space? Wow....it is so clear that they are just trying to sell bank space.

There isn't any logical reason TO DO it, but there really isn't (or shouldn't be) a reason to NOT do it either. You are saying that, in light of all the bugs, you should never carry valuables around when the game is updated. I agree with this. But, I still don't think that the player is at fault, because some people still trust Jagex to release bug free content. They lost MY trust a long time ago, and it pushed me to quit the game. Obviously, many other people have not left the game (obviously), so there is a clear level of "trust" that different people have when new updates come out. To you and me, it might seem stupid for anybody to be carrying something unecessary into a new mini game, even if it is supposed to be safe. However, there are some people who have not gotten to the point yet where they expect every update to have an enormous unfair glitch. It was never this way in the past, and theres no reason for it to be this way now. Also, I can understand somebody trusting in the quality of this update, because it was delayed for a good 6-7 months. Something that has been in its finishing stages for that long should really have all its problems ironed out, and I do not blame anyone for thinking that it would be okay to carry around whatever items they felt like.

By not playing Runescape. Sure, he didn't have a reason to be carrying 350m, but it was a safe zone, and he didn't need to worry about what he had on him. Does this mean that someone should never wear their blue partyhat anywhere other than the GE? Also, where is the smart place to have expensive items on the day of an update? When they update it seems like sometimes completely unrelated areas of the game glitch up. If he was making a trade at a bank somewhere, and instead of withdrawing what was "needed" withdrew a random huge stack of cash, and then some glitch happened that caused him to lose that whole pile, would you still be down his throat for doing something unneccessary? Plus, its not necessary to go to the mini game in the first place. It isn't necessary to play Runescape at all. All these things are what the player decides to do or wants to do....for whatever reason...he wanted 350m cash on him. And he lost it in an area that has nearly no DESIGNED risk.

I'm glad to hear people agree with me. I'm not some RS hater who played this game too much for a year and then went to WoW because of all the shiny graphics. I've played RS for a very long time, on and off. I was around even during classic, and even if there was a point since then that I ever stopped playing the game for a few months, I still hung out in the community and kept up with the direction of the game. It was always great, its just that sometimes I got bored of it and waited awhile for some new things to come around. But this time is different. Glitched, awful, infrequent updates have driven me to indefinite retirement from RS. If the game ever gets back to the place where it used to be, I will come back in a heartbeat. I'm not some troll trying to create havoc and just be a negative nancy on RS fan sites. I am a long time diehard fan of the game who is sitting aside and waiting for this game to be good again. The MA update actually looks pretty cool, and the junk trader thing is an awesome idea...it just completely sours my opinion though when I hear of yet another devastating glitch, and innocent players trying to have fun being dumped on by the Jagex staff.

It has not always been their stance, as I have been around this game for over 6 years and can remember a few server resets and rollbacks. Also, even if this was their stance before, that doesn't mean that it shouldn't change now. Before, it would maybe be once or twice a year that a large bug emerged and caused many people to lose lots of items. Now that they feel like letting a game-ruining bug slip through every month, I think it might be time for them to re-think their stance on server rollbacks. Or, you know, just take the effort to individually refund all of the items that were lost without resetting everybody's progress. Not sure what is preventing them from doing this. Runescape also gets a miniscule ammount of content updates compared to WoW. $15 a month in WoW gets you huge content upgrades and incredible customer service, 24/7. $6 a month in RS gets you updates that ruin the game and cause you to irreversibly lose items, plus you get some awesome automated customer support that never gets you what you want. Runescape used to be worth the money, but with the quality of service and updates this year, they should be paying YOU just to stick around while they destroy this game. These are optional services that can't be included in the flat rate subscription because they are rarely used. Also, when you pay to get a server change, its because you are paying for a Blizzard staff member to personally contact you, manually bring your character over to the other realm, and then make sure that everything went okay.

In World of Warcraft, if you lose any items due to a glitch or bug, you can put in a personal ticket in game and a GM will personally message you in game and talk you through a solution to the problem. Also, even if it isn't your fault, for instance if you accidentally destroy the wrong item, or even if you accidentally disenchant it (destroy it, turning it into materials for Enchanting) a GM will always be willing to come and personally asisst you to regain your item so that you can enjoy the game. This whole process will take maybe an hour if the GMs are currently flooded with requests. Ask yourself why you are playing Runescape, where no items are ever returned, no matter how much they are worth. In WoW it doesn't matter if your item was worth 1g or 5000g, you'll always get it back.

New rs style:(
How can you just say that the interface looks terrible? Like...how can you state it as a fact? Many people think it looks way better. I am one of those people. I like my interfaces to be smooth and crisp, not all big and puffy, and look like paper.

08-July-2009 Mobilising Armies + patch notes
I love the people saying "OMG this isnt strategy at all, some kid just waited around and then rushed me at the end!" How is that not a strategy? Just because his strategy is more lame than yours doesn't mean it isn't a strategy.

A little Suprise...
Back in the glory days of RSC I would say that most of my levels were accidental/unexpected. Back then I just focused my energy on making money, and most skills had a pretty even way of making money. So I would mine coal one day, fish the next, etc. Nowadays monster drops are about 100x faster than using skills for money so thats the only thing I find myself doing. If I ever skill, its just for the exp.

22nd June 2009 - Extended Agility Courses & Patch Notes
Any more updates of this calibur and I might just have to renew my game subscription. Though I have to say it is really disappointing that they didn't give a new item or something that required 95 or higher in the skill. Guess we have to wait another 6 years until we get content for the other 6 million experience required to reach 99.

16th June 2009 Bounty Worlds and Gravestones
LOL The special drops were FINALLY removed from PvP loot......I can't believe it took so long to fix something that logically made no sense to include in the first place. And now, instead of including some type of fun rewards from PvPing (for example, why not have a chance to recieve "PvP tokens" that you can trade in for untradeable rewards that give you unique armor/tools) we now recieve PURE CASH from PvP. Yeah, this is a wonderful idea....flood the market with cash. It's gonna be a lot too. Theres already pictures in this thread of a few mil being brought into the game. Imagine world wide how many drops have been gotten already in one day. What happened to good updates? This company is headed in a strange direction. Did anybody notice the number of bug fixes that had to be made from last weeks update with the musical guys? Maybe, since a majority of this year has been spent on fixing ANCIENT bugs, the QA team should start doing their job and not letting so many bugs through the first time around.

Taking Runescape a bit to seriously
I don't understand how people can accuse this guy of being a loser or taking it "too seriously". Firstly, the picture is just him with an AGS and a phat on, in the middle of the woods. Posing. Hes not fully dressed in game related items, hes not reinacting anything from the game, we dont know if he is pretending he is actually in the game...All we can see in the picture is that the kid got bored and made two objects....Also they appear to be made cheaply, as the sword is not made out of metal...How is any of this "too serious"? So instead of sitting on his computer all day, this kid actually gets up and MAKES something, and HE is the loser? I really don't understand the logic....

9th June 2009 - Run Energy Update / Patch Notes
I am a huge critic of Jagex, and I think that they have done little to nothing right this year, and the update quality has been terrible. However, I can firmly say that today's updates are all fantastic. Best work so far this year.

More easily hit while not attacking
Wow....I feel truly sorry for the OP. Nowhere else have a seen such a storm of illiterate replies posted by people who didn't even read/comprehend the post. It's half a paragraph. He isn't saying this SHOULD be added, he is saying he noticed a pattern and wanted to know if other people noticed it. Sorry if the discussion went up after the second page...cause I didn't read it. I was too filled with rage after reading the first page of replies, all of which contained rude responses that were insulting you for something you weren't even saying. Ok cool, but that doesn't answer the question. Why did Jagex even put it in? Also, just like everyone has said, this DOES NOT exist. You are a complete moron. First you say "THIS WOULD TAKE TOO LONG" and state it as though it is an absolute fact/truth that you KNOW. Then, you get proven completely wrong because this is not something that would take an enormous ammount of time to be put into the game...Then you have to go make another "factual" statement "THIS DOES NOT EXIST"? Maybe you should learn your lesson and stop stating "facts" about things that neither you nor nobody else at this point knows for sure.

Homosexuality in RuneScape
Stance: No, this is ridiculous. There are a lot of choices that your character makes for you in game...there is no reason to add this just because it is a hot topic IRL. Religion: Catholic Orientation: Hetero edit: Wow, so many God-less atheists in this thread.

21st April 2009 - Tale of the Muspah
Well that's just a downright lie. If you class a big content update as something that forever changes the way we play the game we have had many this year. Pray-x has changed prayer training forever more Soulwars has cahnged the way many many people train. Pathfinding has altered the way we get around rs and resolved "lag" issues for many hundreds of people the list goes on. I'll agree we've had no big, as in large, updates so far this year. But hell we only get 4 or 5 of them a year if we are lucky. But to class a big update as something that changes the way we play forever I say we've had more than any other entire year in rs as EVERY small fix and tweak has forever changed the way we deal with certain things and training certain skills. I mean from last year the tiny fix of allowing granite to be chiselled into smaller blocks was a huge update in terms of the way we play. It meant granite prices for 500g crashed while the other 2 rose; it caused a huge drop in the number of people training mining and the methods of mining choosen to use; it caused a huge increase in summoners collecting their own granite and a decrease in the cost of granite lobsters. Adn thoose tiny fixes are exactly what we are getting in spades this year First of all, I applaud you for your effort, however it seems I have to be unbelievably precise in what I mean, or someone is going to quote it, get the meaning completely wrong to make their own argument correct, and then everybody else is going to interpret what I say in that same erroneous way. Let me just point out to you, without going through specific news posts, that the updates you listed: ARE NOTHING SPECIAL. Last year, Jagex managed to release all of the NEW CONTENT that I listed in my previous post, AND we still got updates that are along the lines of "Pray-X" with nearly every content update in the "In other news..." section. Just think about the updates you mentioned, and take a look at the updates I mentioned. They are on a completely different level of the game. If you would like me to, I will go back and weed through all of the "In other news..." sections from 2008 and point out amazing things they have done that were not headline content updates. Off of the top of my head, I can already think of increased bank space and the bank tab interface being added in the 2008 year. Not to mention the many improvements and reworks they did to things like Bounty Hunter, and basically fixing most of the Summoning skill once it was already released. Or, how about the interface update that showed us our HP and run energy up by the mini map?...In addition to this there were plenty of "pray-x" style upgrades... So in the 2008 year, there were a numerous amount of "in other news" style upgrades, in addition to a huge range of BIG CONTENT releases that added NEW THINGS to the game. In 2009, the only "big" updates have been to improve the game along the lines of an "in other news" update, yet you think that 2009 is at all comparable to 2008 (THUS FAR...I understand that the BTS 2009 said that there are a lot of GREAT plans for this year, however there is no reason to even consider the possible plans due to the absolute failure of "plans" so far this year, i.e.: mobilizing armies, the 150th quest that was supposed to be a large and amazing quest) This mini game has not changed anything. The rewards system is completely unimaginative. Lets see, you get points for playing the game, and you trade those points in for exp. Wow, so basically the mini game is the same as Pest Control, except there is no guarantee of winning and there is no useful new objects that can also be attained from points. Does anyone else find it completely ironic that during "upgrade year" (where the goal is to make many things in the game more useful) the FEW content updates that we DO receive are marginally useful? Looks like 2010 is going to require another upgrade year where they take all the updates from 2009 and rework them so that they actually add something nice to the game.

21st April 2009 - Tale of the Muspah
This is where I stopped reading. Maybe you should stop "whinging" about the whiners? Last time I checked, this was a discussion board and people had the right to express the opinions that they hold. Not to mention that he is correct in saying that there have been no big updates this year (meaning: there have been no CONTENT updates that have changed the mechanics/behavior of the game in an interesting and lasting way) Updates from last year that count as "big updates" would be: While Guthix Sleeps, Stealing Creation, Corp. Beast, Summoning, PVP worlds, firemaking gloves/adze, Smoking Kills, updated Treasure trails, Chaos Tunnels, Fist of Guthix. And edited in: quoted for fail, The only thing that I see wrong with the picture is perhaps the lack of a period?

How can you guys handle this?
This is absolute nonsense. Sure I have never been in software development...how does this mean I can't expect them to do their job well? I want to see you program a quest in Runescript/Java with matching dialog, graphics, and without bugs. And I would like to see you cook a steak that is perfectly medium-well done. Did you even read the post that you quoted? Since I am not a programmer, I have no reason to expect professional programmers to do their job well? By your own logic, you have no reason to complain about anything unless you are a professional artisian in the skill. Imagine you send out your computer to be repaired, and they delay the computer repair by a month because they are just having too much difficulty doing THEIR JOB correctly. Do you have a right to complain? I hope to god that your answer is yes... Also, my gripe is not merely poor quality in itself, it is the relation to the quality that this game once was. If I had just joined this game 6-8 months ago, I would have permanently quit by now upon seeing the utterly pathetic ammount of quality updates being made to the game. However, the entire reason I am disappointed, as said in the original post, is the comparison of this year to years prior. If A COMPANY wanted to "take their time" with updates, fine. If their direction was "slow, but steady and quality" then fine. That would be the company and I would probably not subscribe to that game...........BUT JAGEX WAS NEVER LIKE THIS. There was a time when Behind the Scenes existed, all of the updates came out ON TIME, and guess what...they were QUALITY. Barrows was released on time. Slayer came out on time. Farming came out on time. RUNESCAPE 2 ITSELF WAS ONLY DELAYED BY A SHORT SPAN OF MONTHS. And now what??? Mobilizing armies....A MINI GAME...cannot be released within 4 months of its original expected date. What did they do?? Start over completely? Fact: the number of employees at Jagex has risen significantly Fact: the quality, frequency, and usefulness of updates this year has been AWFUL (thus far) Why is a company gaining workers and losing quality (AND QUANTITY) of work? Astonishing, really.
