Dynamic Countdown Timer needed. (For use on Tip.It Forum)
Wouldn't the countdown timer have to be some kind of Mod/Add-on that the admins of this site, added to phpBB? Else I don't see how you could use the custom BBcode to create a text based countdown? I can think of a method of creating this using images though, based on the rotating signature script I've used before. The basic make up of that would be as follows: - Grab a host that allows .php - Upload small images of the numbers 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,0 (Naming each one respectively) - Write the script in .php, basically based around what you want the countdown to do. Make variables that would change the image based on realtime. - Paste the .php link as in the BB code on the forum While in theory that could work, it's going to be highly impractical, and messy to work with - and to see any change you would actually need to keep refreshing the page :P What was the method used on that site you mentioned? How did you create a countdown that showed up on the forum?

How to Change Aspect Ratio?
I don't think you can change the actual aspect ratio of your monitor, but you can change the resolution. Right click on desktop > Properties > Select the "Settings" tab From there you should only need to drag the Screen Resolution to More - giving you the maximum screen resolution your monitor supports.

It would be possible yes. http://forums.mozillazine.org/viewforum.php?f=18">Themes Forum That would be the perfect forum to use to get help with such project, as for getting someone else to do it, well... that's up to them :P I'm happy enough to give it a shot, however it will no doubt fail, because I have only ever made a simplistic theme for FF before. Are there any specific pictures you want used? Or should I just get Photoshopping/scripting with this project and see where we end up? :D

Well, this thread can be closed now, or just left alone. The SSD question has been given some opinions, for which I am grateful. That was my only main concern, the rest such as neon lights (which I haven't used before) and the actual architecture/design of the system, I should be able to work out, with the always useful guide, Google.

Along a wall. All of that, surrounded by a tank of liquid, would mean that all access bays on the tower (front and back) are going to be untouchable, unless I take the entire thing out. Which would be impractical during a party :P This could however all be managed with external disk drives, multi-card readers, and extra USB extensions. Cable it all up, place it in the tank, with the hardware left on-top (I could easily package that inside some kind of case to make it look neater) Then I just need to pray nothing requires me to unplug any of the many peripherals added :lol: It is however a great idea worth branching out on. In two days I will be going to a specialist tank designer to look at shape/size, that should give me more ground to work on once I get in some measurements.

Uploading to Youtube
http://www.speedtest.net/ That site should be able to give you a decent speed test (Pick a server close to you) On my old ISP the upload speed was appalling - so that meant that when it did around 2 mins of uploading it decided to cut out. (It actually left me having to not make videos which were longer than around 3 mins) I've been looking around Google for you, and a lot of people have this same problem. A lot of responses are stating it down as some script in the browser, or that the upload format is wrong. However you're uploading in WMV format so I don't see why that should be problematic. Nothing seems solid ground though. I gotta say I am as clueless about this as you. Sorry :(

I'm not going with this project thinking its new and revolutionary, I simply like what I saw design wise and now it's my goal :P The only moving parts going on will be from the fans, seeing as I'm in no way placing a normal HDD in the tank (which is more than likely going to mess-up with the oil) It would be foolish for me to stick any CD/DVD drive into the actual oil, because that would result in the disks dislodging from the bay, and getting stuck in the drive :P The fan I see isn't a necessity to place in the tank, however from researching it on the web I found it shouldn't hurt. Next on my list is finding the correct type of sealant :( EDIT: That was one route I was thinking of going down. However I would then need to customize that tower to allow DVD/CD drive access, access as a whole becomes a bit more tricky as I need a tower allowing USB/Ethernet/Audio etc on the top. But your idea now got me thinking about... fishes anyone?

I could, Because like hell it will be cheaper. But I would need to ensure my motherboard then supports booting from a USB source. For this I have two options , use the old one from an ancient PC of mine (Which I doubt will support that function), or purchase a new one. I have never actually installed a OS on an external hard drive, I just checked it out on Google and found that the requirements for such setup is rather specific and not recommended. But I will check my Mobo out, and the possibilities of doing it this way. But yeah, sounds like something I should think about. This would however mean mounting it on the top/side of the fish tank, because oil would slow down the platters, causing it to not function, if I went and placed it inside :D

Well I'm very much into the look of things (design & such). And I figured this would be a nice project to run. I mean in the end I will have a computer which will look different, act as something to impress guests at house party's (Not Runescape House Parties :P) and fit in nicely with the rest of my living room. It is pointless I agree, but it acts as a rather unique feature in the home, and I'm going to enjoy making it - it's just something for me to put some time into. (Having finished doing up my car, and my other computer, I figured I would under go a project which requires a bit more thought) And yes, SSD is expensive I agree, but it's either going to be one of those inside the tank, or I could have some big capacity HDD on the top\side - outside of the tank. After some research I think that will be the main option to go with due to price. Then again if all I will be playing through it are some DVD's, my girlfriends 10GB music folder, and some Slideshows from holiday, then I don't really need such a big capacity to work with. Going with the idea that I just plug in items such as MP3 players, and give it 2-3 DVD drives (Using 2 from old computer) - then I'm not required to have such a large drive capacity right?

-.- I am in fact using Google, I just wanted to know what some of you here taught would be good a SSD drive, and perhaps where I can get it cheaper. Don't give me bull saying that I shouldn't ask here, with that philosophy you might as well not have a Tech and Computers section, if all your willing to do is send me off to Google. Granted it does hold more answers for me, I know that, you know that. However I'm just here asking a few questions that people on this forum might or might not be able to give an opinion on. Thanks for practically jumping on me the second I make a thread to lecture me on how I shouldn't even ask to begin with... EDIT: Yes I have built numerous computers on my own. It's not so much that I don't know how to do this, rather I want to bounce ideas and opinions with what other people might have experienced. Be it neon lighting in the case, or what type of SSD/HDD I use.

I only needed an idea for an SSD (so far), something I have never used before in a large scale computer :/ - I figured it shouldn't matter where I post that, because I have seen some fairly great minded people on this forum... And yes, I was planning on buying some new hardware + using old gear from a previous computer, however adapting it to a much bigger tank and use as a media player in my lounge. It's not a project I intend to complete in like a month, rather one I work on slowly, thus lowering the cost indent in my pocket. Thanks for your rather insulting post though. :)

I used to have the same problem with my old ISP, and I recall researching it on the Internet. It might just be a time-out on the upload, if it takes too long? Are you generally able to upload files OK? (like, to anything else) And what is your broadband speed may I ask?

So far I haven't actually brought anything yet, because I want to plan out; preferably to a cheap price. I was wondering if anyone here would be able to lend some assistance to the actual gear required, and where I can obtain it? I'm looking to get a SSD, rather than an HDD - the reason for this being I want to submerge it into the tank. Does anyone know of a good make, as this is the first time I would have actually purchased one. That's all I can think of for now... it's late I will update this thread with questions as they come-up :)

about protection prayer
One rule of thumb I always use for prayer flashing is that it's like 2-3 seconds after the monsters hit, that you can turn prayer off. (I don't know if different monsters have different rates of attack?) [hide=Example]Monster hits 1 2 3 (turn prayer on) Monster hits (turn prayer off the moment you see that 0 hit come up) 1 2 3 (turn prayer on) Monster hits (turn prayer off the moment you see that 0 hit come up) etc etc[/hide] And yeah, it really does help make your prayer last longer, I use it every time in slayer if I run out of food, to try and extend my trip XD

Shouldn't users be allowed to remove posts on their threads
Just because you say you won't, doesn't mean others will follow in the same footsteps. That is the problem and reason why giving normal users this power isn't going to to work. You have to take in to account what this would mean for the entire forum... not just yourself. If you think the posts made are spam, then use your better judgement as to report it not, rather than preach to be be given more power.

Having spent numerous years of my life managing forums, be it as a Moderator, or an Admin, I can safely say that your idea would not work. The idea for a forum is that it's meant to be an Online Community, which wouldn't work if every member who made a topic had the power remove posts as they wished. If everyone had the right to silence those who posted in their thread... there really would be no point in a forum, and people would end up abusing this power. People can spend a lot of time and thought in writing a reply to topics... giving the freedom of removal to the OP, would result in chaos. You have a report feature, use it. Let the people assigned to the task of managing the forum, do their job.
