  1. I was talking more about the prestige behind it: in spite of everything else, the fire cape was a symbol of skilled high-level players for a long time after it was mastered because not everyone had the skills to do it. It took a long time after the release for it to be 'dead' content mostly because eventually the community stopped caring about capes as a status symbol (All capes, not just fire). I honestly still haven't gotten a fire cape... I tried once waaay before eoc, and failed, twice. I never even made it to the last wave either time. I'm not ashamed to say that I failed, I'm not really good at combat. However, even then, at least to me, the fire cape was something that I've always wanted... Maybe I will go back and try for it sometime soon.
  2. Oh, no no no. you forgot, that's dead content. not a good moneymaker anymore at all. It's more than a month old so it should just be forgotten...
  3. The name of the post is "High Tier Item Access" I think you're in the wrong thread mate. I think the confusion here is that it's a spin-off topic that discussed many different ones in the first place. Yes, fire cape like challenges are nice and all, but they can't just be left for dead afterwards. There are many ways of implementing challenges in the game, however, to be sustainable, they usually do need to offer monetary rewards. A challenge that is grindable doesn't diminish the challenge, in my opinion. Also, if your goal(or challenge) is to obtain the best gear, there need to be methods of obtaining wealth quickly by means of grinding. However, I wouldn't coin the term "grinding" if you enjoy what you're doing, then it would just be seeking your aspiration. I've thought about the concept of another fire-cape like reward from a monster and I came up with what I think would be good ideas for possible solutions. Firstly you could make the weapon/armor so that the more you do the activity, the more powerful the weapon/armor becomes, but it has a cap according to your combat levels. That way it stay balanced for the user, and can't be OP. My second idea is built off of what they've already hinted that they will do. Instead of having it level up and become more powerful through using it in a specific minigame or killing a monster over and over, make it more generalized as it powers up when you use it over and over again killing things. That way it would become something anyone could use too for all levels. Possibly you could even make it so that it specializes in a certain monster.
  4. Have they ever made the update teaser picture one of Solomon's? I wouldn't mind if it were a cosmetic override. I'd actually like it very much if they started making all holiday rewards overrides rather than actual items. Not sure if this needs spoiler tags around it but just in case... [hide=spoiler] I would mind it being just a cosmetic override, or a cosmetic in any fashion just because of the significance it can play in the plotline of our character. That is the sword that helped Guthix attain Godhood, and we know where it is from the quest. It would be a huge disappointment to me as far as an avid quester for them to just throw away such an easily manipulated portion of the questline just for the sake of a cosmetic item, rather than using it to continue the quest. If however the sword becomes something that isn't at all potentially pivotal in a future quest then I would probably be okay with it to be something cosmetic... maybe.[/hide]
  5. So instead of making it a one kill item, or even you kill it until you get it as a drop, make it like the wilderness hat where the more kills you have gets you a new emote/cosmetic item, and add in bonuses for each tier you achieve.
  6. [hide] Money has always been easy to make, but moaning about moneymaking has just been that much easier. Isn't that what you did here when I suggested they should release a top-tier boss monster which drops no cash reward or anything else that can be traded for money? Only you never bothered to reply to my post (even though it was directly addressed to you personally). You're effectively saying there that you're not arsed about it unless it involves moneymaking, aren't you? Money buys everything in this game. [/hide] Except for the obvious few high level things that are non-tradeable such as fire cape and its upgrades, or potions... But indeed, everything else in the game is bought. There are actually no high tier items that I can think of that are the best of their category that doesn't have a buyable equivalent item...
  7. I will rage if this happens. Unless that's not really the sword that we know from the quest...
  8. It should be available to people whom it is intended for if such people have put a reasonable effort into it (by that I mean level 70 armour is for people with 70's in stats, and level 80 armour is for people with level 80's in stats and so on). That is how RS initially was and it remained that way for most of its existence. Now we have this bizarre trend where skills cannot actually generate wealth for players, and the best gear is restricted to a few parasitic players who stand around merching/staking/gambling. Being a reasonable challenge should not entail being ridiculously hard and requiring hundreds of hours to obtain a few items. It's ridiculous that someone with Maxed Skills, and Maxed Defense can only afford level 70 armour. It's a fundamental contradiction of the game that skills (you know the actual content designed to make you progress in the game) is disconnected from the process of wealth creation. preach. In all honesty skilling is practically impossible to make money off of compared to pvm. I'm nowhere near maxed but often times i find myself struggling to make cash at all simply because all i've been doing lately has been skilling which either loses money for me, or doesn't profit very well.
  9. can you check for me if death plateau is finished for you? and if not can you try and do it for me? I had the same thing, but I was trying to do some small tasks for Doric for extra smith xp, and i couldn't do one because it required death plateau which i've done, but not since it was reworked... anyway i can't beat it because i can't see the guy your supposed to meet right at the beginning. >.<
  10. Yes, thats true, but make sure that it's legitimately 1:1 as in one button clicks one then the next moves the mouse, then the next key clicks again. If you made it more specific what you wanted it to do then i could probably help as I've done a bit of scripting in AHK before.

Could anyone post a decent guide on how to do QBD, I've never really tried her seriously but I've recently looked into making money off of her. Thanks in advance.
  12. They apparently reworked Death Plateu for the 452352345th time when they released the reworked Doric's quest. yea, one of my buddies told me that and I was like... are you serious? I still did it once upon a time, why can't i just not do it and complete stupid stuff like this... Am so mad.
  13. If you have no intentions of going P2P then I think that all the scrolls, then the sight, then get weapons. If you're going to get P2P sometime in the future I would go ahead and get the Bird Skull Necklace as I've heard it makes getting charms super easy as you can have that and pray dags and just barrage them until you have your desired charms amount.
  14. Agreed. Sorry if in my original post it seemed like I was saying they shouldn't get anything as a F2Per, I guess I just got a bit carried away and didn't make my point clear. @Kimberly, Yes. In essence that is what I mean. OT: I think this month is going to be interesting with the release of a new quest, TWW. As an avid quester I find this to be the highlight of my month. I'll leave the rest up for debate because my opinion on all of it is rather moot. New abilities: cool. Wilderness: meh, I've never enjoyed PvP. Easter: Sounds fun. Free Changes: *looks at previous posts* I think I made my point, finally.
  15. [hide] F2P has a way of paying without becoming members, it's called RuneCoins and Squeal, so Jagex does have an incentive to keep them happy. Your argument is old and obsolete. My argument may be old, but no where near obsolete. Give me a stat that says that since they CAN, they do, then give me another stat that says that F2Pers actually contribute >5% of income for Jagex and I'll say that it's obsolete. Just because they CAN does not mean that they do. You're argument is based off the fact that they have the ability to do something... well, all members have the ability to get 99 Runecrafting or Agility, what percentage actually do? Sure, as soon as Jagex gets us that financial report. There are plenty of F2P players who have bought Solomon's stuff. [/hide] Well while we're waiting on getting that; Let me reiterate my original point. I don't think that F2Pers should get updates as often as members, as in the point of saying "Finally. About time F2P got an update" after they had something that was groundbreaking about a fourth of a year ago, while they can also expect that they will get another partially f2p skill as well within the next year... That's being a bit greedy IMO because i don't believe that F2P generate that much revenue for Jagex. In another related point, I just wanted to make a point of saying that instead of acting like it's owed to F2Pers and saying finally, they should be happy that Jagex has finally gotten their heads out of their butts and realized they need to update F2P as well. I was a F2Per for 3 years before going member so I understand how frustrating it is to not get updates. [hide] Excuse me? Um, correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't F2P as well as P2P get the new EOC update only how long ago? It used to be that F2Pers would only get the yearly updates, such as Easter, Christmas, Thanksgiving, and Halloween, as well as possibly once in a while a little tiny thing added here or there like the SOS, or something.. People always complained about how F2P got updates when it was a small one back then, and now you're saying that it's about time that F2P, which pays nothing to the people who give you the content, has deserved this update because they haven't had one for three months? Sorry if this comes off as arrogant, but F2P should only get major updates such as EOC, and such just because it IS a trial... The whole purpose of the Demo is so that you buy the full version, not that you eventually stick with it long enough and you have the full version. On a side note, be happy you have as much content today as you do, there was once a day where you didn't have anything but skills to train, and friends to be with. There were no activities, no anything hardly. [/hide] It's like a separate game with less functions in it... : :wall:: a good example of a separate game with less functions would be 07Scape, not F2P. I'm glad F2P got the areas as well, but I don't think that they need to get major updates as often as mems, for the simple fact that they don't pay on consistent level. Maybe I'm completely wrong and F2P actually generates a substantial amount of revenue for Jagex, in that case then I'll own up, but I see that as a really slim chance.

  18. Apparently according to some testing done by someone in the general discussion thread post about today's news, it is actually decent in terms of a melee wep against dags. Go have a look if you want, I forget the numbers but I think it is better than the maul in terms of dps iirc.
  19. [hide=Spoilers] agreed, you HAVE to have those quests to actually even understand what they talk about anyway... I'm not sure about the lvl reqs but I would say to get the full rewards in the end, as in all the hidden ones as well, we're going to need 90 prayer among other levels. [hide=Spoiler] We should make up a list of what happens where after you've done this, and where to go to see all of the cutscenes and such. just a suggestion For starters, I used the shortcut next to the ge and the figure appeared for a second as I went under and reappeared, some others have said that he appears at GWD, and at the digsite as well. List any others you see and I'll try to update them here. [/hide] [hide] GWD is a mahjratt. The digsite and ge are both a shadowy mage[/hide] ______________________________________________________________________________________________________________ I just went to GWD entrance and got the exact same thing as pictured here... So maybe its affected by something that you did during a previous quest or during the mini-quest? [/hide] Hmmm... and the plot thickens.
  20. It's just another memory, nothing else. I think that the xp lamp is the only thing you really get aside from the balmung stuff...

  22. [hide=Spoiler] its actually not a requirement. I'm not sure what it does yet but there is an option for level 90 strength, 90 prayer, and 90 crafting when you're messing with the gem. [/hide]

What would be a decent setup to kill iron/steel dragons with outside of slayer? I have access to voids, and super antis. My stats are 91 def, 90 pray, 93 mage, and 96 hp. Inventory and what to wear would be really helpful.
  24. And then the obligatory Shyamalanesque twist: Zaros actually IS Guthix. I've always been a fan of Zaros, and on a secondary note green is my favorite color which was why Guthix is my second favorite God... And he is just awesome like that. If this twist is true then I'll be really excited. :) As for the quest, I'm really hoping it ends up a lot like RFD, as that was one of my favorite quests because it made me work for certain levels, however this one won't, its still the idea that makes me excited.
