  1. Wow, I'm talking about if guns were illegal [in the United States]. I thought the quote I was replying to would be enough context, but man... The guy had some illegal stuff on him, such as armor and a smoke grenade. I guess that being illegal didn't stop him, but whatever. As far as computer savvy, I'm not going to clarify much (it's against site rules I'd assume to name any of these "proxies" [proxies in a vague sense of the term]), but I'll try explain as well as I can. Heard of bitcoin? Anonymous money, you say? Untraceable ways to wire funds? Sites that exist only in dark shadows of the internet, only able to be accessed anonymously and via an encrypted connection? BOOM. Illegal blackmarket. That's all there is to it.
  2. Yes, because the gun laws are crap in the first place. If they were made illegal now, there are still hundreds of thousands of guns in circulation which would indeed be easy to get illegally. But, Instead of thinking about the present, think about future generations. With a change of law comes the possibility of a change of culture with future generations, with guns being perceived rightly as bad things tor civilians to have, and the possibility of many being taken out of circulation, making aquiring them illegally much more difficult, stopping many of these shootings from happening. I love the crap that a determined criminal would be unable to obtain a gun if gun laws were strict and guns were "hard" to obtain. As I have pointed out in the TDKR thread, obtaining a gun over time is much easier than anyone thinks. A computer savvy individual could have an arsenal over the span of some months given proper planning, without raising much if any suspicion. That's not a good way to start a topic. In fact, it's completely ignorant. Putting your cultural and moral ideals above another group only leads to hate, is is evident in your OP.
  3. I do it entirely with a mouse :o! Luckily, it's largely just placing points that later become curves. I use InkScape. Thanks for the feedback. Thank you! Yes, coming up with something unique is extremely difficult in this modern day, where nearly every avenue is exhausted. Not to say my art is entirely unique; it was inspired by the beauty of brush strokes, ink, and calligraphy. I drew more stuff!
  4. He had a smoke grenade. Those are illegal to own by civilians. Did the law stop him from obtaining and consequently using one? Furthermore, I can buy just about any weapon I want online, and have it shipped to me discretely (e.g., in parts) without being able to be traced at all. How does making guns illegal stop me from doing this? Oh wait, it doesn't. My morals and sanity prevent me (after all, I do not like guns personally). I would also like to point out that drugs are illegal, yet look how easily obtainable they are... Guns would be no different if they were suddenly banned in the United States. THANK YOU. Trying to make and enforce effective gun control in the U.S. would cause a huge political shit storm, and ultimately would not be effective because people could still get a hold of guns. You'd want a time machine in order to implement effective gun control laws. The reason they are so easy to get in the first place is because of the crap gun laws. Guns are so widespread in the US that they can probably be gotten by anybody at this stage who has a mental illness. The country seems so blasé about guns that it's dug its own grave. With stricter gun laws, the supply chain is cut. Not every gunman would be stopped, as illegal firearms are available in every country. However, when the culture of the country (such as the UK) makes guns into a bad thing, getting hold of guns through illegal channels becomes harder. For one, guns wouldn't be as present in society, so the sight of one immediately rings alarm bells, possibly tipping off police. Two, with less of them being sold legally, there is less chance in them getting into the wrong hands and into the illegal channels. Three, with guns being illegal, children grow up with the knowledge that they are a bad thing and not something to aspire to have (in most cases anyway). Again, as I have said, the US has got itself in such a crap place with guns it will take a long time to sort things out. But the longer the gun laws stay in place, the worse it will get and possible get to a stage where it is impossible to fix. You don't know much about gun laws. I could not personally obtain a gun legally because of mental illness. The person in question had no history of it. However, I could easily obtain one online from dark recesses of the internet. Regardless of what country I live in! Furthermore, we have a big problem to the south of us. It's a big country called Mexico and the drug cartels would soon fine, in the case of strict gun laws, a much more profitable endeavor than drugs... I would also like to outline that in much of rural United States, guns are a necessary defense against wild life.

That seems to be more about the art style than making games accessible. Nope. From now on every time you see a cartoon-ish game, just call it lazy coding. "Real life" graphics is more expensive to produce and too resource intensive for the average person's computer. There's lots that has been said, but I have to disagree with this. It's not "real life" graphics that are intensive. I can make a psedu-2D cartoony game that takes advantaged of modern hardware, including things like deferred rendering (using OpenGL 4.0 "A-buffer" techniques), shadow mapping, volume lighting, so on and so on... and make it still look cartoony! Do you know what it even takes to develop a game? I'm doubting it. Games are not as a result of "lazy" coding if they're in a cartoon style. As far as this console vs PC discussion is concerned, the only feature I like about consoles (from a developer's perspective) would be that you know if your game runs on your testing Xbox, it will run on 99.99% of Xboxes out there (I'm using the Xbox as an example, mind you)). The exception are Nintendo's consoles in this "only feature," but that's besides the point. PCs are just so much better in allowing a game to express itself to its fullest. Lol. So you're obviously clueless that one of the people on your side of the argument had to correct you and yet, I'm the retard. K. Well all things considered, even if he was of a certain intelligence level, it really should have no bearing on your own intelligence level. It would be cool if we held back on that sort of language though. Can you talk again about how developers cannot take advantage of current hardware? My most favourite bit of information ever. To be honest, from a developer standpoint, I would love to take advantage of DirectX 11/OpenGL 4.x hardware (on the graphics frontts). But the sucky thing is, that's not going to sell a game. DX11/OGL4 capable hardware is only a handful of years old. While this helps develop your "argument," I just wanted to point that out. One more thing: I'm a 4th year compsci student. This is like teaching high school programming to kids (i.e. you). What's your creds? Oh right, you don't have a console. Cool story bro. I'd put the acronym of "laugh out loud" here. But I can't stand it. This post both upsets me and makes me pity you and your ego. I may not be a "4th year compsci student," but I've done much more than you in games development as far as I can tell. I'm not talking about bullcrap "GameMaker" or Flash or CLICK AND DRAG either, but rather, interfacing with the barebone graphic and runtime APIs, but it console-exclusive (GX for the Wii) or just general-purpose (such as OpenGL or DirectX for the PC, Win32 for Windows, etc). You can blabber all you want about your "creds," but whatever you can say I can propose it's BS (or figure it out...from your previous posts). Being a "4th year compsci student" means little besides being in reach of a piece of paper.
  8. I would but I'd just ruin it! '-' I made a scientist guy as well. He's not realistic though:
  9. Seems people don't know how the RuneScape client works... Not like it's not unexpected. The RuneScape client is a dumb client, obviously. But it still has to store a local copy of the data needed to render everything. This includes stats, NPC/player/item positions, their health and tons of other similar data. Obviously this data is only a local copy, and editing it would have no purpose. To say that it just sends an image irks me, especially when stated in an assertive tone. If the game just sent an image, how is it possible to do the following..? That image shows the potential of client-side changes. Obviously there are not 100s of people in steel armor, and it has no bearing on what other people see, but it goes to show that it is possible to edit data that the client makes use of. Furthermore, if it "just sends an image," why would some people have FPS drops and others not? Why would they have safe mode, software, DirectX, and OpenGL renderers? Sheesh, if you don't know what you're talking about...
  10. I was thinking about extracting them from the player's computer's memory while the game is running. They're not stored on the player's computer's memory. I don't think you understand. There is a local copy of the stats stored in RAM. How else do you suppose the game could tell you your skill levels in the stat window?
  11. First time drawing something "realistic" on this scale. C&C appreciated.
  12. If its too hard to code, they must have some shit programmers. Regardless of how good you're own programming skills may be, you're not an employee of Jagex or have any knowledge of how Runescape is coded. It should be easy for any half ass programmer though. The only way it would be difficult is if the code behind the scenes is a jumbled mess Submit your application then. It's always harder to practice what you preach. It's also harder to code something than explain the concept as well. Critic: "That movie sucked!" Director: "Well, why don't YOU try and make a better movie?" Critic: "Er, what? That's not my job!" To be brutally honest, I dunno if you program or whatever, but binding keys is like... 1st year hobbyist game dev stuff! And before you critique me, I'm not an idiot... I'll drop you a few lines! https://github.com/aaronbolyard/egoboo-wii http://commaexcess.com/algae/ & http://commaexcess.com/articles/6/vector-graphics-on-the-gpu http://www.allegro.cc/forums/thread/610160 plus more I can't be bothered to link to.

Do tell, how else would you design a controller as to not rip off either Microsoft or Sony? Keep in mind they can't pull a GameCube design as it's incompatible with the Wii U GamePad. Just to clarify, I'm tired of Company A rips off Company B complaints/observations. This goes on all too often for tablets, smart phones, game consoles, game controllers, software... How different can a wheel be?

It meant Ditto... not Mew. I know. It's terribly worded.
  18. Veiva replied to PoorLepRecon's topic in Off-Topic
Ditto is the best Pokemon. There is no exception. Mew is a failed clone of Ditto, not the other way around. [hide]There's a mistake in that DYK. Mew is not found in the same cave as Mewtwo...[/hide]
  19. Each piece is worth 5-8m... Didn't people say the same about Nex and the CB when they were new, though? That they'd be too expensive to justify the effort? I bet the only reason was the lack of free trade and Jagex's low guide price. In the QBD's case, the players have decided the items are not worth it. Who knows what the future may hold, though. But for now, it's not worth it.
  20. The same people that kill it with 4-5 brews would, in most likelihood, make at least twice as much at Nex or the Fight Kiln.
  21. Whilst she may not be the biggest money making boss I don't think she'll be entirely dead content. Those who have trouble finding teams/groups will surely enjoy the improved profitability they get from a solo only monster compared to trying to solo higher stuff and likely being spot stolen/kill stolen etc. And even if her unique drops aren't up to much her other drops seem to ensure she'll give reasonable returns. For most people, kills cost several 100ks in supplies (overloads, armor degrading, potions...). This is good as dead content at the rate it's going. Even if you take 5 mins a kill, never die, and make 200k per kill, you're still better off at frosts.
  22. Off topic, but hi! Haven't seen you post in forever!
  23. If she does have 0 defense about, then dragonbane arrows and bolts are nearly equal DPS, with the bolts ahead slightly (about 1.5%). Gear tested for bolts: void, deflector, royal d'hide body Gear tested for arrows: void At least that's what I got from Grimy's ranged DPS calculator using the above info...
