  1. There will always be people whining and crying when there is absolutely no need. There are far worse things happening in the world than nor recieving an update on tieme. Your argument has as much validity as the strawman "there's starving kids in Africa, so why are you complaining about X issue?" (hint: there's no validity). These people who whined for 2007scape (largely) provided no reason for Jagex to load up the servers outside of potential profit from future membership purchases. In a month, the players on the 2007scape servers are going to be much lower because they'll actually have to fork out more money! I'm sorry, but this is all going to be a humongous disappointment for Jagex and the "old school" players. Nostalgia blinds so many people. On the other hand, the people (like me) looking forward to The World Wakes are continuing players who will continue to provide Jagex money every month. I've paid my membership since January of 2005, with only a short break in those many years (then there's those who have paid since members came out...!). I should be prioritized over those who want "THE OLD RS #1" back. You know why? Because I support the current game, not this malarkey "semi-old-school" (I started playing very soon after RS2 [the RSC servers were still full of people] and I don't consider myself "old school" in any way) bull.
  2. And the people who [bleep]ed and whined for the 'old days' should have a cup of STFU. All I'm going to say on this thread is that those asinine individuals are just hypocrites. They can [bleep] but we can't? Well, sorry to say, there's only one RuneScape, and that is the current game, not 2007scape, not RSC. Jagex failed to deliver a worthwhile update in the name of these "old school veterans" who did not contribute to the game anymore. Why? For money? 2007scape is going to be like RSC soon enough, and then what? (This is a rhetorical question, for reference. No need to respond to it!) In any case, I patiently await the new quest.
  3. Most stores wouldn't let me pay any less than the total*... I don't know where you get this information. Seriously. *: Only exception was a family run farmer's market. I once was about a dollar short and they let it slide. But then again, I am a regular customer during spring/summer/fall and it was a family run business, not some megalomaniac corporation... The information I gave her was based on what I do and what plenty of other Korean Supermarkets do here in Hawaii. When I went to North Carolina, stores over their do it as well. Way to make a fool out of yourself. Edit: She pointed it out as well. Edit2: Even you did. LOL Why are you so offensive? I didn't make a fool out of myself. But whatever, continue namecalling, insulting, and flaming. I'm sure that helps your case.

  5. Aren't the crossbow limbs worth a lot though? I just want to know the average gp per hour with TDs. I'm mainly trying to make money though. The value of limbs isn't clear. They're valuable in the sense that they are rare, and frankly how long have we been asking for a freaking dragon xbow? Finally get a dragon cross bow, and it sucks. Fml Jagex. But I digress. Considering the salamanders as Quy pointed out, it seems to me that the value is cosmetic/collecting. Which admittedly, can fetch some pretty high prices. Peeps love dem cosmetic stuffz. As you can tell if you saw my character in game wearing elegant clothes and a black cavalier with a rune cane.... Which honestly doesn't cost much anymore... For money though, honestly, I would go kill QBD. She's a lot more fun and she's very consistent money of 2m+/h. Or AFK at armadyl :P. Not to butt in, but is void usable at Arma (soulsplit, overloads, yak/unicorn)? Or is full Armadyl better...?
  6. Wrong digsite. Everyone is refering to the new digsite beside legends guild. I made it clearer. I hadn't yet got a chance to check out the update.
  7. The shadowy figure is... ZAROS!!!! He's checking on his BFF Azzanadra at the Digsite and making sure Nex is still a player killing machine of death. (I'm probably wrong.)
  8. That's probably a joke. I thought QBD was hard till I bought a royal crossbow. I don't think anything is hard in runescape anymore if you have cash and a lag free internet connection, RS07 is no doubt 100X harder then RS13 and I'm going to enjoy all the "youtube superstars" who were leveless noobs in 07 give up within a month because it's too tedious, boring, hard, or however they want to put it while trying to save face. As for hand-eye coordination and reflexes, runescape still isn't the place to show case those because you don't need much of it compared to other video games. You're wrong. Spending 1,000 hours clicking a rock is not harder than spending 10 hours clicking a different rock. The only difference is time. I know time is a finite resource, and I'm not going to spend it clicking on a rock just to prove myself worthier or more credible in some game. I don't consider wasting this finite resource monotonously to be a wise use of it. Did you honestly find clicking that iron or granite rock back in '07 so fun? Or did you find the satisfaction from gaining a goal to be the deciding factor? Although both are equally okay from some social/artificial viewpoint, I do not believe that it's normal to find monotonous activity fun in the former case. In the latter, you should still know that mining in the LRC is not less difficult, just less tedious. I understand we play games to relax. Now I barely play RS--maybe 4 hours a week. In the meantime, I perform much more rewarding activities that also serve to let me relax. I draw as a means to relax, but at the same time I am improving an important skill. I write as a means to relax, but at the same time I am improving an important skill. Etc. Etc. In the end, 2007scape was only good for the community, in my opinion, not some artificial gameplay value. I enjoyed participating in wars, communicating, and otherwise socializing in the game. For me, RuneScape was a means of interacting with people across the world and working together towards common goals--something I otherwise would be unable to do in reality.
  9. Ehh that's not exactly true. The determination required to tolerate such a slow, tedious, and boring method makes it "difficult." Willpower is a skill too, mind you :P Just because something is simple doesn't mean it's easy. Masochism isn't a skill :D. (This is a joke).
  10. There's a distinct difference between time and difficulty. Getting 99 RC on air runes is no more difficult than at RuneSpan. There is no skill involved in either instance. However, soloing say Nex is difficult, because of the actions, timing, etc required. This is why I don't understand the 2007scape was harder mentality. It's not harder. There's just a longer time investment.
  11. Using HTML5 means they're going to use JavaScript, which means that it'll run slower. Java, when JIT kicks in, is more efficient than JavaScript--this stems from the fact that JavaScript is a dynamically typed language, while Java is a statically-typed one. Lua, a scripting language I have familiarity with, is still slower than languages like C++ and perhaps Java because it is also dynamically typed, even when using a JIT compiler (in fact, LuaJIT is one of if not the fastest dynamic JIT compilers in existence). I do not see any benefits from the switch to HTML5, especially considering the fact that you probably can't run it on Internet Explorer (keep in mind IE10 has a better Javascript engine than both Chrome and Firefox, especially when it comes to mathematical computations, from experience).
  12. Do you mean the new old game or the new old game? I'm saying if the main gaine reverted back to 03, tiffers would still play and get over it. There is no black and white, both worlds will have advantages and disadvantages, seen and unseen. I don't know where you get that idea from. No way I would play a game that has gameplay somewhere between Superman 64 and watching paint dry... <video> I understand your statement was more rhetorical than it was literal. However, 2003scape is honestly horrible gameplay. Rogue, despite being made something like 20 years prior, has so much more depth than that.

  14. For me, the only reason I carried on with RuneScape was because of the community (at least, when it came down to it, the small ones I was a part of). When that slowly died come free trade removal, there was no point. Now the only thing that keeps me going is the gameplay... which 2007scape lacks. Thus, I'm not voting, because I would not play it and do not want to give Jagex a false impression that there's one more person interested than there should be.
  15. I'm refraining from voting because, regardless of what I want, my old RS friends/clan is not coming back. That was the only reason I trudged through the game like I did back then.
  16. For nostalgia's sake, I'd like to play it once in a while. Heck, I still oftentimes go back and play games I've beaten several times over for nostalgia's sake. But I also know that it would not be 2007 RuneScape. The community is too different nowadays. I used to cut yew trees "AFK" (or better put, while doing something else on the computer). Would I do that now? Probably not. This is because conversations with old RS friends were just awesome, inside RuneScape and outside of it (clan forums, IRC, etc), and events with my clan (The Moriquendi) were just a blast. But that's all gone now. 2007scape would be an empty shell devoid of all the reasons I enjoyed 2004-2007 RuneScape.
  17. Just use your best gear. He doesn't have any weaknesses. There's a teleport in Edgeville that takes you right to his lair (just north of the Monastery). Dragonbreath protection is probably necessary.
  18. No, you absolutely shouldn't. Assuming you have enough time, the 3rd ship will be useless until the scythe(4th island) , and by then you'll easily get the needed bamboo(you still get 1-2 ac missions a day and can always use merchants on them). I don't think you ever really have to turn back for resources when you do things right. Anyway, i read somewhere that story missions give no distance. Can anyone confirm that and can anyone tell if the story missions have tiers or they will always pop up for the region you are focusing on? Planning on skipping all the story missions until pincers, but i'd need to know if that would make those missions harder to do later on. Story missions have tiers--they aren't affected by the focused region.
  19. By extrapolating the data present, that's over 160m gp/hr. Not bad.
  20. Is the reward for the end-of-story missions random? Because if the convict always gives plate (as a screen I saw shows as one of the rewards) that's just stupid honestly :|. I want death lotus, not tetsu...!
  21. No I just felt bad for posting just to correct someone so I added something relevant afterward. I am excited for this month's updates. Hopefully the quest doesn't come out on my birthday (the 26th) so that I can do it on release. If it came out on my birthday (25th) I'd be like: "CAKE? NOPE! GOTTA FIND GUTHIX!"
  22. I wouldn't be surprised if the new quest was like RFD...

Out of curiosity, what's your inspiration for the story? Many. I've always loved the idea of spirits as representations of physical, mental, and religious concepts since an early age. I had a journal I kept in elementary school (I lost it when I moved up to North Carolina, though) with a whole bunch of creatures representing different archetypes. From there I didn't do much until I started reading classic literature, such as Beowulf, Ilyiad, etc. Then came authors such as John Skelton, John Milton, and even Shakespeare as far as poetry is concerned. Thoreau and the other transcendentalist Romantics also inspired me with their beliefs of an inner-godliness. I've always loved poems, as may be evident :). They are my favorite medium of expression. I often write haikus during Middle School covering a wide range of stuff (none too good in my opinion, but still it contributed to my passion for poetry). During High School I wrote sonnets and such and I tried unique/original forms as well. Cultural influences include Buddhism and what little I know of Persian and Asian cultures. Still, the most impressive source of inspiration is the Native American folk takes. In the game, the society is a clash of the Native American/European/Asian ideas. That's about it.

I was going to add the demo to the post but I'm unsure if it's permissible or not. If you want to try it, hop over here. (Mods: if it's not permissible then feel free to remove the link!) Here's another screenshot of that area:
