  1. So I went to Glacors for 13 hours over the past weekish (a bit longer). Killed 889 (Not even 70/hr... Don't judge me!). Loot: And the geepees... At least the boots weren't glaivens!
  2. Thanks a bunch! With all these recent magic changes/nerfs I wasn't sure.
  3. Armadyl Battlestaff or Wand of Treachery + Ahrim's Book? If it's any help, I'm killing glacors.
  4. Woot 99 summon. Is Steel Titan any good (somewhere, hopefully, maybe?!?!?!)?
  5. The Raptor is pretty OP... he can hit up to 10,000 damage on brutal green dragons using his autoattack... Impressive... Highest hit I screenied was this (he tele'd soon after):

I spent a while today doodling stuff. Ended up with this guy: I like him!

This is more like a "I've been doing this for the past week BLARGH AND IT STILL DOESN'T WORK!" but... Brush... Physics. PhySICS. Phyyyyyyyysics. Physics. Ph-ph-ph-physics. Sics. They're difficult... But the result is nice so far:
  8. I had a longer post typed up but the glorious 4th mouse button took it. Anyway, basic idea was I expected something much substantial, like more info on Legend of Zelda, or Metroid, or a new IP in general, or what have you. Maybe even updating an old IP that hasn't seen much love (hint, F-Zero! Starfox! Even Ice Climbers!). I knew they were doing a new 3D Mario game, etc. I own a Wii U and have arguably the top three games for it so far (Lego City, NSMBU, and Nintendoland). I haven't touched it in a while because there's no reason to.
  9. I expected more from Nintendo. Sony did good, and Microsoft was way off somewhere between Antarctica and hell.
  10. I can't stand when people miss the "OSRS" forum. As for people placing cannons at rock crabs, more experience for them!
  11. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Level_Up!_Games They probably manage the servers Jagex uses for the game in Brazil.

I don't doubt it. Location is very important. Where I live, there's not much (actually, anything) within 100 or so miles (outside of military-related jobs in software development). I would have to relocate for a majority of jobs (telecommuting is not something I would personally do).

In a world where I've been going to a large university that is among the best in the nation for computer science since I was 15, with work as a software engineer at another fortune 50 company for a year. Age isn't everything. Drive and ambition to get a college education leads to better jobs than age ever will. Anyways, I've been told I'm going to have a team of two other interns. I'll work with people in Seattle, Dublin, and Hyderabad. About interns sucking, that's not true in my case. In my last one (Supervalu, software engineer), it was one of the best experiences I've had. I learned a ton, my projects saved the company over a million dollars, and I had fun. Microsoft has the best internship program in the country, so I'm not worried about it sucking. It's not Xbox or Windows 8 I get to work on, but it will still be fun. I agree with what he said ^. I've contributed to open source projects, developed my own libraries (e.g., an XNA alternative [for graphics only]... that all of one person uses [i think, and besides me]), and all kinds of "worky" stuff, but without a college education, can't get a job in software development. Heck, I've gotten referrals for positions and all and still failed to nab the job because I don't have prior related work experience or college education. Such is life.
  14. Is it sad that I remember that?
  15. I have ~80 lacquer, ~120 plate, and ~100 chi. Got to the pincers a month late. Skip all voyages that aren't worth my time now (I have a full crew). Only have 90+ herb and 90+ prayer. Hope it helps! edit: Here's my exact count etc: I also have a 5 lacquer mission out with a 76% chance.
  16. If someone I do not trust has physical access to my computer, I have more to worry about than my RuneScape account.
  17. Speaking of which, I want a tier 80+ shieldbow. I know they're useless but I like the concept. And I miss how I could use a sight and have more accuracy in full rune than using traditional range gear (without a longbow w/ sight). So I guess it (or at least the sight in F2P) did have a use before EoC... but I'm sure that doesn't count.

I built my brother a computer with the higher end i5s and a dedicated GPU and honestly there's no noticeable difference between his and mine (a Core i7), CPU-wise. His limiting factor is his GPU.

Well, that was fun. I tracked down a bug that crashed my game on some computers. These computers didn't have any debugging tools installed, so I hacked together something real quick that displayed the reason the program crashed and where it did (since Window's mini dumps were useless in my case). This message box saved me: [hide][/hide] I tracked down the bug, and fixed it by changing one line. Makes me so happy when a bug is squashed.

More like a 'yesterday,' but I've been working all day on my game (like I have for the past few days). Managed to increase the FPS on my lowly netbook (ION / Atom combo) to nearly 50 FPS (out of a 60 FPS upper limit). Sadly it comes with a 2-3x increase in initial loading times. Here's some screenies: [spoiler=Screenshots] And a trailer for when I get more done and put it on Steam Greenlight: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7oQdnCH82uw
  21. I get better FPS in "Epic Citadel" (same idea as the HTML 5 beta) and it has better graphics... http://www.unrealengine.com/html5/ 20 FPS average on an older version of Firefox at 1920 x 1080. And this actually runs in Firefox. [spoiler=Example image]
  22. They really should have added an incentive to killing those with supplies... As it stands now I don't get why anyone would waste their time killing anyone but the wand bearer (outside of the griefing mentality).
  23. Depends on what you mean by a professional or work environment. A programmer is not going to use the same environment as a graphics artist. In any case, I would not choose OS X for coding. Linux beats it many times, and Windows is (in my opinion) much more reasonable when it comes to standard OS API (unlike OS X, which deprecates entire branches of its API every release while introducing new ones; have fun targeting all the x86 OS X editions with one code base!).
  24. Never received an email but can access the beta. Nice.
  25. I don't need code to analyze the stream of OpenGL/DirectX API calls. Their rendering system is a beast (not in a positive way). The sad part about my game engine is that in a poorly optimized version of it from a half a year ago it still ran better than RuneScape did on my netbook (Atom / ION combo). To clarify, my rendering engine makes extensive use of resolution independent 2D graphics in a 3D space and that involves a lot of optimization to make it run nicely. Even if you exclude this feature, my engine makes extensive use of modern OpenGL methods (I'm currently adding support for OpenGL 4.3, to give an indication), something RuneScape does not. Also, I don't know what you mean that the target machine must have the dependencies installed. Need I say static linking (if their target is C++) or bundling the libraries with the game (if their target is Java or C# or some other language)? In fact, they already use native code on all platforms via JNI interop. That's the only way to support OpenGL and DirectX in a reasonable fashion on each platform. As it stands now they are alienating a large user base, potential and current, by using WebGL. Internet Explorer does not support WebGL for valid reasons, and Microsoft has no plans of implementing it. They are supporting both Java and WebGL, so why can't they scrap one (preferably WebGL) and offer a much more streamlined experience for their customers? Jagex just wants to be able to say "our MMO can run as-is on Android tablets!" and that's it.
