11-Dec-2012 - Player-Owned Ports
Hey, I made a player owned ports configurator. I have no error checking however, so you have to enter sane input. Basically, this is an alpha release. The whole thing is just some JavaScript. Here is a lookie: I'm going to finish it tomorrow (it's 3:00 AM here!), but it's still usable. Be wary of entering *too much* data, it could be slow on older computers. Also I've only tested it on the latest Firefox stable... Also, abilities don't work...

jagex cache - can I change the drive ?
Wrong. Several Jagex Staff have already mentioned to other users doing this exact thing. Unfortunately, due to how the RSOF works, none of the reference QFCs can be found Forum posts don't magically overide the ToS: http://www.jagex.com...ectual_property Copyrighting a preference file is like copyrighting a number... To clarify, if the file is not protected by any means (DRM, etc)--and also, since it is not code--editing it is fine. An example would be Windows Media Player DRM. When you purchase content protected by DRM, a data file is downloaded. In this data file is an encrypted and obfuscated key. However, editing or viewing this key is a violation of the DMCA and various other laws (copyright, etc). This is because the key is obfuscated by a program (infact, the individual key is an actual program that only lets trusted programs use it to decrypt media; it is a blackbox of sorts). Jagex's profile data is neither code nor encrypted nor obfuscated. It's simply configuration data in binary form. (I can't believe I'm arguing this.)

I agree. I decided to use color only for stained glass windows:

Transformers Universe - no longer a MMORPG, now a MOBA.
I'm really hoping Jagex get away from the click and point movement and make TU work via the WASD method, I just can't imagine transformers being restricted to point and click. And before anyone tries to say it won't be possible in a browser game, Jagex have employed the same WASD feature into there latest FB game I have beta access to called Carnage Racing. I heard from a certain someone that not only has the client's graphics engine been completely rewritten for the Transformer's MMO, but that the server architecture has faced extensive changes because of the radically different game play from RuneScape... Take it as you will :P! Though this very well could be well known. I haven't kept up with the Transformers MMO...

Is it the choice of colors, or is black/white just much more appealing?

I am curious as to what people think of color: I think it's pretty nice, but I love both color and black/white. What do you think?

I have never heard of the QBD dropping a rune battle axe... maybe it's a "Rare Drop Table" item? Oh, and shield left half. Woot...

QBD in EOC
I personally use standard range gear + royal crossbow with royal bolts. I use maybe 2-5 sharks a trips. Trips take me 5 to 6 minutes, sometimes I manage in under 5 on a good one. I only use the Deadshot ultimate and even then only when she is in crystal form; the 800s add up quickly, generally wiping out 1/3 or more of her health that phase. As far as other abilities, I use all the usable basics and alternative between piercing shot then another basic until I can access thresholds, at which point I use rapid fire / snapshot / that explosive 219% damage one and repeat. I do not recommend the ultimate that does a percantage of health; it maxes at 5000.

Well that explains it. At least I got the fourth journal.

Chaotic priority post-EoC
I use a royal crossbow and it works great. It's tier 80 and cheaper than an Armadyl crossbow. The only gotcha is having to forge it at the QBD, but she's really easy to fight now so I don't see a problem. Aren't two-hand abilities better, as well..?

Not bad (for under 30 kills total).

Thanks a bunch for the feedback! I think it runs on ye olde Intel IGP on laptops with multisampling disabled. The game attempts to enable multisampling, and if that fails, disables it, so there's no problems if a graphics chip doesn't support it. It'll just look less pretty: Thanks again :).

An Epic. . .
So I'm making a video game revolving around a poem, in particular an epic. Choices the player makes affects this poem. That's the basic idea. Since this is The Gallery, here is how it looks: Here's random bits of concept stuff I've done: So I have a few questions about it! Does the art style capture your attention? Is it distinct, or dare say, unique? Would it be too bland spread over some undetermined hours of gameplay? Is the style worth the somewhat higher system requirements* based on looking at the screenshot above, and the concept art? *: System requirements are somewhere in the range of a modern processor (Core 2 Duo, Core i3/i5/i7) and a non-integrated graphics card (else you won't get multisampling, which makes it all jaggy!). For reference, I get 30 FPS on an Atom-based netbook with an ION graphics chip, 4x multisampling, which is pretty good in my opinion. That's the questions I have right now. Comments and criticism are also welcome! Thanks.

The Evolution of Combat: BETA discussion
I am looking forward to it. My only two problems are that GWD armor is not between Barrows and Nex gear and that stats don't have much influence on damage output. I'm hoping very much that Jagex rectifies these two things before release.

Behind the Scenes - November
This is how I feel. DG was meant to be team-based, for better or worse. To remove that part kills the integrity of the skill. And leeching doesn't..? (This isn't necessarily aimed at anyone.) Right. Leeching doesn't. You're paying other players for skills you yourself do not have. In other words, you're substituting other benefits for you lack of teamwork. So yes, DG is meant to be team-based and rewards those with the necessary skills. I just have to disagree. I feel that if you don't train the skill in some form, you don't deserve the levels. Hence why I have a low dungeoneering level, etc. To pay someone then do nothing for 15 minutes or less then get more xp than I would in hours is just not fair, regardless of the "team aspect." If I were to go to a dungeoneering world, as I have in the past, chances are it's going to be extremely difficult to find a genuine team amongst all the leech teams. To clarify, dungeoneering is team-based, yes. However, to reason that solo experience getting better is worse for the skill is hypocritical if all you base it on is the intent of the skill. Dungoneering was not meant to be a buyable skill, regardless of how you try and rationalize. You can claim it is "emergent gameplay" or whatever, but you are still being hypocritical of the intent of the skill, regardless. But is any skill intended to be a buyable skill? The buyability of any skill is a direct result of player institutions that develop. Take Smithing. I don't think Jagex's intention was for players to buy bars, smith them into stuff, then sell them. More likely it was meant for players to make sure of the ores they mined to produce combat equipment they require. Would you say that being able to "buy" smithing is against the intend of the skill? Fair point. Regardless, evolutions of skills over time is fine by my book. I honestly don't care too much (actually, at all) that someone can buy 120 dungeoneering. It's an evolution induced by players. But I don't feel that an evolution introduced by Jagex that has no affect on the best experience rates (besides make them even better, perhaps) should be thought of as damaging the integrity of the skill, because it's just that: an evolution of a skill. I guess we'll just have to agree to disagree.

I love the dungeoneering update. Personally, I cannot dungeon with groups--I face interruptions all the time which would slow the team down way too much. And leeching is out of the question; I'm not paying someone to train a skill I actually enjoy solo.

Well Known RWT'rs banned.
I've heard this argument made before in the above, edited context. Do the circumstances given as reasons for the activity make the activity acceptable? If people are making money off my product/service without my consent, through theft or other means, I'm going to be upset about it, no matter how they try to justify it. Incorrect. You're not stealing from Jagex. That is where your context falls flat. RuneScape gold is merely data. It's impossible to steal it from Jagex. Jagex keeps the data regardless of who it is transferred to. So to equate theft, in which the owner loses something, to such an activity as RWT, is laughable. Jagex loses nothing but potential profit. Your argument is also the one used by RIAA/MPAA, where they scream they lost a sale to every pirate, when in fact they lost nothing. Data sharing is not theft.
