By suicide, I mean play the game, but have one person lose every time. You have to do a certain amount of moves, etc I believe in order to get rank. So play like normal, except have your friend make terrible decisions, such as not attack or use a scout to attack a Champion.
  2. But PvP in runescape is exactly that. Since the skill ceiling is so low, you arrive to a point where it is all luck based. I don't understand, are you arguing that the game shouldn't be balanced? This thread isn't even about that. I am arguing the game should be balanced, and protect prayers, to a degree, imbalance it. Then again, so do prayers like Turmoil (in the PvP arena). And I agree, the game is too luck based. That's why I don't PvP anymore.

If you have a friend who already has a deflector or whatever, then that friend can suicide for you. The ranks take maybe 5-10 games. I was at rank 1069 and got to 1257 in about 1.5 hours or so (not 100% sure on this, though) with a friend.
  4. I know that, but I meant like...is it going to explode too often? I don't suppose anyone knows for sure, though. I'll try it anyway.
  5. Just a quick question: is the hand cannon only worth it at Tormented Demons if you have 99 firemaking (or aroundabouts)? I'm at 71 right now and am curious. If not I'll just use Karil's Crossbow. Thanks!
  6. So... Two equally powerful pokemons facing each other lacks game balance? I don't think you understand what relativity is, let me explain it to you: If one this is equal to another in power, then those two things are balanced. If one thing, on the other hand, has an advantage over the other, then you can say that one has a power advantage. Call it "overpowered" if you will. The point is, at any given point in time, any player can be perfectly balanced to match their opponent; If they choose not to do so, one player will obviously have the advantage. However, you are still at fault for going into battle with a handicap (it is your responsibility to match your opponent in power). So, to go with your pokemon analogy; Don't put your lvl 3 rattata against a lvl99 rattata and expect to have the right to complain. The game either ends in a stalemate, or a clean sweep. Mewtwo vs Mewtwo is a stalemate in RBY. No one wins. You seem to misunderstand the point. Protect prayers remove 40% or so of damage, which negates turmoil. Deflect prayers are the same. The Pokemon analogy would be more akin to a level 100 Mewtwo vs a level 100 Mewtwo with a moveset the sharply raises special. They'd both be "balanced" but at the cost of neither being able to do anything. After all, if it's allowed in the game, it's all right, right? Tell that to competitive people of all kinds of video games/card games and watch them laugh and walk away. A better example would be Blissey vs Blissey in games before Diamond/Pearl/Platinum. Two identical Blissey cannot kill each other, regardless of time. This is because they'll out-heal the damage done to them due to Leftovers. No one wins, literally. Therefore, such situations were (and still are) generally banned. I would also like to clarify that I don't really care if someone uses protect prayers in PvP, unless it was agreed that protect prayers are disallowed. I understand both sides, but the latter side (protect prayers are bad/overpowered in PvP) is terribly misrepresented here. Oh, and I do understand relativity. There is really no need to act in such a manner.
  7. Except that in runescape, every "pokemon" can have every "move", so all is fair. That analogy is flawed. Pokemon is not 1v1. A better example would be that everyone has access to every Pokemon so I don't see your point. Mewtwo vs Mewtwo in RBY is still overpowered as heck. Or, to refer back the card example, everyone has access to say, Triple-eyed Fire Dragon of Death with Wings of Power in the Super Card Game (say it was super common). However, what if it outclassed every other card? It would then be banned. Another thing is that a level 43 prayer outclasses a level 95 one. People whine for high leveled updates, but when a low level one neuters the high level one, why are the same people not upset?
  8. I find this topic kind of overdone... Anyway, there's the side that is like "It's in the game so use it and STFU" and the other that's "This aspect is overpowered, just like <cheap gimmick in some unrelated game>." That's why, e.g., certain moves/characters/cards are banned in other games. What prayers remind me of most is competitive Pokemon: using protect from melee is like using a super defensive Pokemon, just like overloads are like using a super offensive Pokemon. In competitive environments, if one Pokemon can unbalance the whole metagame, then it is banned. Just like in RuneScape, if one aspect overpowers another instead of being balanced, it's considered unfair. Overloads are more extreme (no pun intended...really) than Protect from Melee and Company, but the point still stands.
  9. !!! Best part of this update.
  10. [qfc]16-17-425-62812536[/qfc] No update today.
  11. For your third question, if you want to use a cannon, playing on a non-English world in the Rev dungeon is pretty good for cannoning greens. This is only from a few trial runs through there, though; your mileage may vary.
  12. So I went back to my website and figured where some things didn't work and fixed them (previous website designs can be found here) and tweaked the things that worked to (hopefully) make them better. Home page: You can view the website in your browser by going to http://www.commaexcess.com Comments and stuff welcome. Thanks for looking!
  13. I find that pretty sad to be honest. I know a guy who also recently got "hacked" and lost well over 5 years' worth of "work". I haven't seen him online since that day and according to one of his RL friends he had a mental breakdown and didn't talk for a few days and even went as far as not showing up for school. There was also mention of him not eating for a day or two. I didn't know whether to laugh or feel pitty. I understand that it takes a lot of time to get to where some players are but if you're going to have a mental breakdown over a game then it isn't a game anymore. Then it becomes a job/life/addiction. Still, working on something for 5 years is definitely taking it too far to just call it a "game" don't you think? I wouldn't say addiction, but more like ambition. Nope. It's still a game whether you play 1 hour a year or 15 hours a day. And if your abmitions lay in a game then your priorities aren't where they should be. Then again, it is possible to have more than 1 ambition. Say I spent 5 years on collecting as many kinds of butterflies as possible. I travel the world, searching for these exotic creatures. Then one day, I come home to find the frames that the butterflies in are smashed, the butterflies gone or destroyed. You would tell me, "it's just a hobby dude, don't worry!!" Yes, it may have been a hobby. But now 5 years of work, regardless of its condition, is gone. This applies to games, to everything hobby-like. Work is not the one of the only priorities in life that should be considered "worthy" of getting upset over, y'know (not that you say that...). And who is who to tell another where their ambitions should be, regardless of the ambition, as long as it doesn't hurt others in any way? Frankly would I get upset over losing my RS account or wealth (or lack thereof)? No. But I'm not everyone.
  14. I highly doubt such a topic is: a) legal; b) moral; and/or c) allowed on this forum. Sorry! I believe that programming for immoral purposes is not right (e.g., see the PS3 hacking scene; some homebrew-minded people wanted homebrew, now it's full of hacks and pirates). Not only does immoral programming hurt the moral programmers (reputation wise or whatever), it hurts you. And also, I (and I'm sure others) refuse to help you program something illegal/immoral.

All I can help you with is from personal experience. Spectral nets 1-2 more kills solo at my levels (no overloads/extremes, 99 range, 92 defense) over a DFS. I do not use a blessed spirit shield so I cannot help you with that. I get 4-6 kills a trip. I do not know about rigour considering I'm only 60ish dungeoneering, but from what I've read it's an improvement, yes.
  16. Here is a little update: a necromancer!
  17. In order to generate a number in the range of [0, 1], the usual best method is to divide the return value of rand by the value of RAND_MAX. Like so: #define randf() (rand() / (double)RAND_MAX) That will assuredly give you a value between 0 and 1. You can verify the math yourself using a set using an example implementation of rand that has a maximum return value of 255. For any value between 0 and 255, divide it by 255. You'll get 0, 0.004, 0.008, ..., 1.
  18. I've redesigned my website. I believe it's quite a bit better, but it's always nice to hear from others! [hide] [/hide] What do you think? I want to work on the content area but I don't know what to do '-'. Obviously when I have...stuff...to put on it, then there will be more content...
  19. Yea I've been thinking the website is kind of bland (or very bland, you take your pick :P). 'tis why I posted it. Anything I could do to make the website less bland? (The first thing is more for comedy than artistic value haha :P). edit: Where is your sig from/what is your sig? I've been wondering about it.
  20. First up is a wallpaper thing I made in a short time span. The wallpaper thing presents the Pokemon Ditto winning the game, against Kyogre* and Mewtwo. *Kyogre was shamelessly redrawn from a reference sprite (Pokemon B/W I think, not sure, don't remember). Totally unrelated is some design of a video game character I redesigned. Last thing is a website design I created. It's simplistic-yet-fun at the same time. In a similar vein to some indie game dev websites (2DBoy I'm looking at you). That's it really.
  21. Your argument was very sound and so that's my choice.
  22. OK! Thanks a lot. :) I'll keep my offer then. Hopefully I get one. Got one! Wee.
  23. How are spectral spirit shields doing now? They seem hard to buy on the GE for max (I had an offer in overnight and it never was fulfilled, but then again the GE updated soon after I went to bed). Will they continue to rise after free trade, do you think?
  24. I've "played" RuneScape on my Wii, using the same technique, haha. It's rather cumbersome but it's quite awesome nonetheless.
  25. Hoping for the smithing update to come out sometime after I can afford it :P In any case, this was a great Q&A. I like the more technical ones. Would be awesome if at some point they release RuneScript as open source or a closed source library. I'm curious as to what programming paradigms it's based on...
