Also Ardougne the black plague thing is kinda bs, as irl no city walled half of itself off to try and contain the plague and as u quite quickly learn via quests there aint no plague Well during the medieval period it was not until Edward the Confessors reign that London actually became the capital city of England. it makes a little sense with Varrock in the same way as Varrock is kind of the unofficial capital of RS. Anyways another point is that the Exchequer and Treasury were moved from Wessex in the subsequent centuries; and therefore could be linked to the creation of the GE there. BS I know. But I was proud that my first year of medieval studies degree so far came in useful here no matter how crappy. But Varrock IS the capital of the kingdom of Misthalin. Same as Falador is capital of Asgarnia Ardougne is capital of Kandarin Menphanos is capital of the Desert I dunno what capital of morytannina is, I spose we'd count canafis as its the only city/town tht aint totally in ruin and decay. yes but as I said varrock is technically the capital of all of RS isn't it?

I have both fire cape and a skill cape so it's either of those generally, otherwise it's my ardy 2 cape. I used to wear obby cape all the time though.

You don't need the enchanted helm, but it is *VERY* helpful as it gives you an extra slot for a brew/prayer/whatever you wana put in it.

If it were but that simple. I'll use the example of the SoS. It is a reference to the four horsemen of the apocalypse. Correct? However it is also So therefore is it a reference or actual content that is relevant to this topic? This therefore blurs the line between reference and reproduction because essentially reference and reproduction can be the same thing. Another example will be camelot. It is a reference to arthurian legend from here in the UK what with the grail quest, merlin and the rest. Correct? However it is also So then again, is camelot a reference or actual content? yes it is interlinked with the quests such as merlins crystal and holy grail; however if we do not blur the lines between what is a reference and reproduction then how can we actually distinguish something like this? Runescape is full of references and reproductions; however they're all interlinked with each other. Same again I ask of the fairy rings that sirhemen quoted at the start of this thread: Reference = folklore about the mushroom circles Reproduction = jagex idea of representing them

You do realise that thread is kinda totally irrelevant? A subtle reference is not the same thing as basing something off another, there is a few overlaps. Eg the whole Camelot stuff, references and is based off rl Camelot stuff. There are still quite a few things that are relevant. But I do understand what you mean. However, :) If we first take the title of the topic "What is Runescape contents based on?" then that thread is totally relevant. On the other hand I do agree that a subtle reference is totally different. However, how far are we to go and say what is a reference and what's not? For example the granite lobster dialogue is quoted from conan the barbarian and IRL film and book. How far are we going to say that it's a reference or they based the dialogue on it. It is a very shady line that we must tread. Anyways I accept that some of that thread may be obsolete when considering this; however it seemed relevant to me at the time when I posted it ^^

So..... I hear alot about these God Spells and God capes from this mage arena place thingy. So..... Can someone tell me what it is and what I need to do to get these spells? I'm looking at doing stuff like TD's and Avis soon, and people keep saying that if I wana do a bit of mage to use something called "Charge" (no idea how I get to cast that spell) and Claws of Guthix (which I need this arena) Any help as I feel rather nooby xD

As Cpt said, you don't really need to do the teleport. All it allows is for you to have 2 extra pieces of food/prayer potions. But it is highly advised that you do Also the money you make from avis will be more than enough for the gear etc and you'll pay back in a couple of trips or so. If you can't afford the helm and haven't done temple of Ikov then do it and be the good side in it to get the pendant of armadyl. You will lose any defensive bonus a fury or glory can give but still. Some people will debate the emerald (e) and say that broad is all you need. I personally think that emerald (e) can help significantly speed up the kills and you make the money back anyways. Also don't forget to attack some that are in combat with zammy stuff if you're outside the eerie because if you engage in combat for more than 2 seconds then the drops yours, easily and quickly getting you a drop for free.

Well I'm getting my attack and strength to 90 at some point soon too so when my computer is fixed I'll be more than willing to take you along with some of my friends to GWD. Also when I get around to questing I'll again be more than willing to take you TD duo with me. But yea, look on RSOF and see if you can find any masses going to GWD.

Only really annoying things are the dragons for you; however blacks and blues are dealt with easily by killing the babies if you really hate them that much; and Living rock stuff.
