  1. Ow but it IS how you say it, I won't go into personal details, but there are so many ways to say things and most aren't good in a help and advice forum. Being arrogant & showing elitism is one of them. You still don't get it do you? :) IF the fun means you can actually keep your attention to kq, and hence kill it (while with veracs you get so bored that you die from falling asleep) using flowers is more efficient FOR YOU! I have some small RSI: I hence can't do many clicks (+ moving the mouse, the combination is what cause pain) a second.. Hence I can't do tormented demons in an efficient matter, and something like green dragons are more efficient money-making methods. A clown would be unable to grasp this, unable to tailor advice on the person and see that efficiency (apart from fun) isn't only determined by the ideal figure & lines, no ones is perfect and soemthings it is easier to approach the "perfect" line than with others. Isn't this, you know "general Discussion"? - What is a discussion worth when you just "agree to disagree", discussion spawn from the very fact there are disagreements, and you DON'T agree with each other. This is a prerequiste for discussion, and hence innovation. Discussion isn't something "bad", I can go into very heated (and interesting) discussions without any trolling flaming or personal attacks - it just requires maturity. I agree that there are ways to give advice that are condescending and elitist. However responses that are concerned with efficiency are labeled as elitest, regardless of how they are said, by every poster who is more concerned with "fun". And no, using flowers is not more efficient for anyone. It's just more fun for some people. Physical limitations such as your RSI don't change the fact that there is a more efficient way of doing things, and your inability to do them does not make something more efficient for you, it makes it more possible for you. To be clear efficiency is determined by cost/benefit ratio, not the individual's ability or lack there of to do it. Some levels of efficiency are not possible for some people due to said limitations, but it doesn't make efficiency a subjective thing. In otherwords, my inability to correctly flash piety due to my lack of timing does not change the fact that it is more efficient to flash piety. edit  /facepalm Insulting those of us who value doing things well and then insulting the entire community of these boards is probably a bad idea. Also, your comment contributes nothing to this topic and in fact is a perfect example of flaming/trolling. Hence your post has been reported. Wont stop me from laughing at all of the efficiency trolls. I wasn't insulting the whole forum community either. I was insulting the people who think it is fun to come on here and tell everyone else on how to play a game. wut? how is calling the entire community deteriorating not an insult. And we don't come on here to tell people how to play the game, we tell them what the most efficient way to play the game is. They are free to do whatever they want.

  3. Is it rude to tell someone they have a spice inbetween their teeth or is it rude not to? If you tell them they do and they reply "I have it there for fun" then by all means send them on their way, but they will still look silly. /irony What if said person finds it "fun" to make said spreadsheets? /endirony I've always found the spreadsheets a much appreciated asset to saving me time in estimating ballpark costs or exp/hr I can expect for a certain skill. I rarely have time to play as it is due to being a full time student and also interning for roughly 40 hours a week with my church and when I do play I want to take full advantage of the time I have, calcing the individual results of every training method every day I get on based on their current actual selling price would be a pain, spreadsheets make it so I don't have to do that. edit Both sides are guilty of being rude at some points. However most of the perceptions of the efficiency "rudeness" is that our critiques of a persons actions are mistaken as critiques of the person themself. This is not the case. I have a textbook that is calling my name so that I don't fail my exam tomorrow. Wish me luck, and I will hopefully be able to come back and continue with this soon. edit 2 just died laughing at xpx's siggy.
  4. The problem is not WHAT you say, the problem is HOW you say it. Trolling means having a disrespect to the person asking the question, and being an efficiency clown means having disrespect to looking into the personality of the question asker. As I said many times, somebody CAN be more efficient when ectoing bones than when altaring: if they like to use the ecto more.. And hence they can keep attention better & achieve much better xp rates. "clowns" tend to only look at the signs and conclude this is impossible. The problem is not what I say, its how its interpretted. I am careful to never call someone stupid. I will however call their training methods stupid. A persons actions =/= the person. As to your example, the fact of the matter is you can't be more efficient with ectoing bones than altaring because of how efficiency is measured, namely cost:benefit ratio. The cost in additional time it takes to ecto the bones vs altaring them doesn't justify the money saved due to the higher exp/bone consumed. I'm sure at some obsenely low income levels (100 k/hr or something like that) ectoing could be considered more efficient because the time saved altaring couldn't be used to make enough money to justify the additional cost. But for most players (anyone who can pick mort myre fungi/harvest white berry spawns...no wait that's everyone) this is not the case. If fun is going to be a factor that is pulled in to the equation then there is no point in discussing the "efficiency" of the activity. At one point I found it fun to rush the KQ with flowers with 30 of my friends and see if we could kill her. We succeeded once (after dying 3 times each at least and rushing back) and it was way more fun than when we did it later in teams of four with verac's. edit I would concede we should live and let live, I obviously play this game for fun. But in the case of H&A the questions are often for the "best" advice and since fun is subjective it can't be factored into an objective definition for "best". Efficiency I would argue is in no way subjective, there is always a definite cost versus a definite benefit that is relatively easy to measure using terms of time/gp/exp etc. So by what is the most efficient being the definition of best it is "stupid" to say that training combat with a Godsword is the best way to do it. edit 2 lol'd at the song
  5. For those of us who frequent these forums, we are (generally speaking) familiar with the term "efficiency". Essentially it comes down to how to play the game in a way that maximizes your cost : benefit ratio. Back when I first started playing the game I had no idea how to train my skills. I leveled up sporadically, killing giant rats for their meat and cooking it for combat and cooking exp for example, and no one ever told me that there was faster, better ways to level that would save me time and money. Progressing into the game my personality (ESTJ) drove me to find the most effective ways to training each skill, by way of my own personal testing and frequenting many help sites for information. Of all of those help sites Tip.It has been by far the most helpful. This is mainly due to certain members of the community who have been willing to pour time and energy into writing scripts for programs to calculate things such as DPS for a given weapon, or making spreadsheets that update to the most accurate gp/exp for a given method of training a skill, or spending countless hours in testing to gather data on the best way to do (fill in the blank). *** Again however those of us who frequent these forums are bound to have seen posts and heard comments in game by various other players throwing around titles such as "efficiency trolls" or "efficiency clowns" whenever a particular training method/weapon/moneymaker is suggested. This leads me to the focus of this discussion... This is an exerpt from the tip.it forums official rules, with my bolding of a segment for emphasis. All of those who post advice that is efficient or discuss efficieny have dealt with the personal attacks. Where we are called "efficiency clowns" for recommending using a whip over a Godsword for training combat we don't respond with "youre stupid" but with "training with a Godsword instead of a whip is stupid". In topics about money making help it is often said that toadflax is better to farm than snapdragon, a blatant false argument based on exp per harvest, and profit per patch (the only two real ways of measuring which is better). Any time a question about efficiency comes up posters come out of the woodworks to incite negative reactions out of us, post blatant misinformation, in many cases severely and purposefully misquote us, as well as annoy and disrupt those who are contributing to the discussion. TLDR: Those of us accused (and in some cases banned) for "trolling" with our attempts at providing the best advice and discussion on the most efficient way of doing things in this game are in fact that ones who are being trolled and flamed. READ BEFORE POSTING We are not assuming that others will enjoy putting our advice into practice. We aren't assuming that they won't enjoy it either. We're assuming that when they ask for the best way of doing something that the response should be based on providing the individual with the highest cost benefit ratio with relation to what their goal is. If they want fun we can not help them outside of providing a list of all possible options. Unfortunately when said list is presented often times the poster then asks which is better...which leads us back to asking what their goal is aside from fun. *** My thanks to those members who have taken the time to figure things out that I couldn't have done on my own due either to my lack of knowledge or lack of time.
  6. Found this on page 5 :( Anywho, revamping my goals a little bit to make it interesting. Going to level herblore to 85 via cleaning herbs and turning them into unf pots. 144 k snapdragons to clean and should net me almost 190 mil profit. Will be doing 1 k a day on saturday/sunday and 2 k a day on monday through friday. That brings it to 12 k a week and 12 weeks until I hit my goal. This endeavor will start as of next monday the 18th of April. Cheers!
  7. inb4modslockthis Sorry to say that this is not the correct forum for this bro. This is for blogs, not site corrections.
  8. Seriously consider taking out the part of you doing this for your friends in the guide. It's against the rules and is likely to get your guide taken down. Aesthetically the guide looks amazing, information-wise its out of date. Nothing on extremes/overloads/spec restores. You mention using an SGS and Guthans which are no longer the best ways of doing it. Nothing about Dclaws to spec him out. Nothing about melee'ing the fight caves as it's easily 1/3 faster time-wise, especially once you get the hang of kiting the 360's.
  9. You're right, the problem is his intelligence.
  10. Got my first larges done ever with this clan chat today and late last night. All of them were done in under 30 min, and after I adjusted to the whole not soloing thing was very fun. Thanks guys, rapier here I come.
  11. [hide] 1. Herb farming. If you don't have the farming level you can reach ~30-35 farming from quests alone. At that point spend the little bit of money on your highest level trees to get to 38 farming and begin farming toadflax. Each run should net ~100 k profit (more if you have a scroll of life and use Juju potions) and should be done every ~1.5 hours. Unlocking the patch from My Arm's Big Adventure is highly suggested as it is always disease free. In general if you have access to farming jujus and a scroll of life you should be farming ranarr/snapdragon/torstol depending on your level. Without those go with toadflax/avantoe/kwuarm. Of course consult Grimy's Spreadsheets when in doubt about the most profitable herbs to farm... http://forum.tip.it/topic/254457-grimys-spreadsheets/ 100 k for 5 min of work every 1.5 hours (5 times a day) = 500 k for 20 min worth of work ***With snapdragon farming Jujus/scroll of life this changes to ~250 k profit every 5 min. Doing this eight times a day will net you around 2 mil. 2. Manage Thy Kingdom. Finish the quests to unlock this activity and consult... http://runescape.wikia.com/wiki/Calculators/Miscellania ...for where to place your workers. Average profit per day is ~150 k for near zero effort. 150 k per day for investing 2 min of time once a week. 3. Dailies. There are tons of shops which you can buy stock from and sell on the GE for profit, along with numerous other activities you can do to bring in a profit. Consult this guide for a complete list of things you have available. http://forums.zybez.net/topic/1421537-how-to-get-145m-profit-a-day-in-45-minutes/ or if you are a tip.it loyalist... http://forum.tip.it/topic/254632-daily-activities/ 1 mil profit a day for ~1 hours worth of work = 1 mil / hr Utilizing what I have outlined above you will make in one week... 400 k /day herbs * 7 days in a week = 2.80 mil ***2 mil/day herbs * 7 days a week = 14 mil 150 k / day MTK * 7 days in a week = 1.05 mil 1,000 k / day dailies * 7 days in a week = 7.00 mil Totaling 9.85 mil per week average ***Totaling 22 mil per week Stay consistent and once you find your niche in flipping the money will just happen and you wont have to worry about it.[/hide] Personally I'm leveling to 85 herblore through cleaning herbs and turning them into unf pots with a scroll of cleansing. If my math is right (and it is) I will have enough for turmoil + a nice amount of extremes (through stewing) by the time I'm done. Do this for an hour, go work on DG for the rest of the day or do any of the advice listed above.

  13. Outside of unlocking extremely useful spells like fire surge, spellbook swap, and ice barrage, higher magic level means a higher magic defense (I forget the ratio but your innate magic defense is part your defense level and part your magic level). I'd say go for 95 for fire surge, 99 if you have the cash.
  14. Congratz on AoW bout time! =D>
  15. +1 There's a written guide that is far better than this one already posted.
  16. What in the world is happening IRL that makes you log off 4-5 times in a 60 minute time period.... Either way we're about the same DG lvl. Each small C6 dungeon should net you between 2.5 - 4 k exp each and should only be taking you about 8 minutes to do. If you do this with a group of 5 people just for fun that number drops down to about 3 minutes a dungeon. So you should be looking at between 22.5 k exp/hr and 60 k exp/hr. Join DG sweepers chat and ask if anyone wants to 5 man rush c6 smalls. People will do it so they can get to their large floors and have fun in the process. For floors 30 and up you can do larges with the same clan chat in about 30 min, 2 dungeons in your hour that will be worth far more exp and be way more fun. Also, rewards worth getting. Scroll of Life Scroll of Cleansing Rapier Arcane Stream Necklace Maul/Cbow Rigour everything else Longsword
  17. I am disappoint. Your trolling used to be soooo much more entertaining. Pro Tip: Trolling works better when you sound credible. OT: Use the force. And by force I mean prayer. And by prayer I mean piety. Always worth it.
  18. hit 75 farming today, no screenie cuz my laptop is still out of commission... BXPW is probably going to look like this. Log in, harvest 5 magic trees and 5 fruit trees. Teleport to the GE Withdraw my abyssal lurker pouches and scrolls, head to the gnome advanced course via the spirit tree. Get 90 agility ???? Profit! peace.
  19. super antifires from the herblore update. provide 100% firebreath immunity allowing for use of 2h weapons or 1h weapons with a defender.
  20. Except for it makes no sense in light of you can't smith a platebody from a chainbody without melting down the chainbody and resmelting it. Also those items didn't plummet just because Jagex released new drops. It was much more that cheaper better alternatives came out, new monsters that also dropped said items came out (fire giants drop d meds for petes sake) and with power creep for weapons said monsters that dropped them became significantly easier to kill. That being said I don't like the addition to what I've outlined. Mostly I don't see the need for it at all. Not that any of this matters with Jagex announcing their smithing update (which will of course be lame) coming this month. :(
  21. Spring break for me occurs over bonus exp weekend. Can't decide if I should agility or theiving...
  22. With using void you won't be using a dragon defender so that point is worthless, barrows gloves will be a better exp/hr boost. Also why would you waste 200 k tokens on something that is 1% better than a whip in an ideal situation that won't ever occur in a real game scenario? The CLS should never even be purchased (unless you just want to complete your chaotic set) I'm editing it out of my post.
