  1. I heard of someone being down there for 40 000 kills. He was really really addicted to the game. he got a chain on the averige of every 7000 kills, but sometimes he'd get 2 chains in 1k kills and other times none in 15000. it's very random and you need to get lucky. if i've mixed up my numbers, someone please correct me, but I've heard from several sources that every 7k kills is about right.
  2. well since this is a topic for long posts here goes: attack, defence and strength: Well, from day one i figured i'd need a decent combat level. Getting your attack strength and defence balanced is also very important, so to be able to kill monsters i started training these three skills. I'm still not done training attack to my goal of 80. range and magic: Well, again balanced combat is very important to me so i also trained range and magic. I'm still not done training range to a goal i want, namely 85. prayer: well, i looked and didn't want any skills under 50 (later 60), so i started burying bones. I did this from the very start killing cows. levels couldn't hurt me could they? not when it was free xp. runecrafting: When i started seriously leveling my budget was super low. i had to mine my own essence and craft mind and fire runes to afford to train magic on cows (to earn me some money), which gave me the ability to train crafting, runecrafting and magic at the same time. construction: once this skill was released i wanted to get levels. It was my birthday the day the skill was released so i decided i'd give myself a birthday present and invest my newly earned money from rares merchanting into getting a nice and usable house. 70 was trained to in a matter of days by me, and it was a blast! i'd keep going if i had the cash, but i've got other goals that also need moeny hp: With combat comes hp levels on their own. I want to join a clan now so i need to get another 2 hp lvls. it's the first time i have a goal in this skill, ever. I've signed up for a pest control group to help me get this xp fast. Hopefully they reply soon:) agility: The first day of becoming a member i figured out that with a much larger map being able to run more would be important. i got 25 on my first day of membership. Then quickly trained it to 56 for the underground pass quest. I kept on going because i hated walking when abyss runecrafting. now i'm 75. herblore: I was also intriegued by this skill on my first day of members. potions to help you in battle seemed awsome. I got hooked. Like many i leveld up on chaos druids, but unlike many once farming got released i loved the skill and have gotten a ton of herbs from it later. theiving: I also got this skill to 25 on my first day of members. I was still on low budget and therefore needed a way to get cash fast. theiving was perfect. I still have a theiving goal, but i don't get too much time to spend training it because i have so many other goals i want more :P crafting: I trained this with cow hides on f2p and went over to flax and gems on p2p. I hate leveling this skill, but love getting levels in it, or training it with a friend. anything is fun training with a friend:) fletching: Day one of membership I got 50 in this skill. I had heard from friends that it was a good moneymaker, and i've always been a total leveler. It's also a great way of getting magic up cheaply. slayer: I started looking into this skill the first week. I had higher level friends ask me for advice early on with it. I love getting the free xp from slayer tasks. with the new black mask the bonus of +15% attack and strength would be cool, but i'm training range at the moment. mining: Once i got off tutorial island the first thing i did was to look on the world map to find a route to be able to smith items. for the first month of runescape mining and smithing was what i did until i could afford a runepick. that was all off selling the finished iron items to the general stores. Now i don't like training this, but getting iron for throwing knives smithing makes me get some xp once in a while. Smithing: After i got membership I needed to make my own ranging products. First i made arrowheads, later and i still do, i make throwing knives for ranging. before i had 50 (later 60) though i used to spend time lelveling this for the sake of leveling it. smithign isn't that bad. you can write stuff like this while smithing (i certainly am). fishing: After i got membership i soon figured that i needed a way to effectivly get my own food. I did a ton of trout and salmon fishing to get me into the guild and started fishing lobsters for food. It became apparent to me quite fast that i needed more of a fishing level than in the 50s to effectivly fish food, so i went back to shilo village for more fishing. I got fishig to 70+ and started trianing it with catching lobsters that i can also use for food. I did this until i could fish sharkes, but still continued to use lobsters as my food until the release of monkfish. i've been doing those for fishing and food ever since. cooking: I always cook my fished goods. That levels my cooking up, a lot faster than my fishing. firemaking: I burned my logs in f2p when i was cutting willows trying to level up woodcutting enough for yews. then i got memebers and started fletching my logs instead. however, i got addicted to the shades of mort'ton mingame and got a goal of getting 80 firemaking. Which i did. I should work on woodcutting to get it to 80 as well lol. woodcutting: I never liked training this skill other than with friends around. however, i did have a lot of woodcutting friends and therefore getting my woodcutting up to 70 wasn't a problem at all. it was actually quite fun. farming: since the release of this skill i understood how important it would be. Seeds were released earlier than the rest of the skill as many of you might remmeber, and from the release of seeds till farming, i got almost 20 theiving levels off theiving seeds. i was very well prepared to level it once it was released. After using all the low level seeds getting my level higher, i found most of my combat friends never wanting to train the skill, so whenever they train on or fight creatures that drop seeds, they ususally give those seeds to me or sell them to me very cheaply. I leveled mostly with herbseeds which also earned me a ton of money. My slayer tasks are also a great way of getting good seeds that are useful. I don't know what my skills would look like if this skill wasn't around. I'm guessing herblore would be very different. If you look me up you can see that my skills are reasonably good. you can always ask me any questions related to training or anything else and i'll do my best of answering those.
  3. I like both actually. if my woodcutting was 85 or more, i'd prefer yews more. Right now it's pretty much equal for me though.
  4. you will have to get one the same way you did in the quest itself. I'd cut me a full inventory of logs for them if i were you in case you die with one later. you won't have to kill the tree spirit again.
  5. you only get slayer xp for a type of creatures you are on a "task" to be killing for your slayer master. if you ever get a "player" task, i guess you'd have to pk folks for slayer xp :)
  6. jagex are very very reluctant ti give accounts back. If i were you i'd rather report him for trying to sell his account which is against the rules. I'm guessing you'll have to start over. :(
  7. the other worldy beings can be found in teh lost city of zanaris. you have to have done the "lost city" quest to be able to get there.
  8. I know you said other than pest control, BUT pest control really beats anything out there by at least 5 times more hp xp per hour if you're over 90 combat and in a pest control group. If you easily get bored, get 30 tickets then do some alching or fletching in the bank for a short break. other than that loar shades with a salve amulet, or the level 60 ones would be your best bet i think.
  9. it's a very very cheap way of leveling crafting. I used to do that when i was low on cash and wanted crafting levels. If you don't want to buy anything i think that's the fastest way. making pottery in the crafting guild (40+ crafting requiered) is also decent but very very boring. good luck getting high crafting :)
  10. go to monkfish as soon as you can. they rock. If you want food or quick exp i'd keep away from swordfish. For fastest xp trout and salmon fishing is the way to go, for food catch lobbies. I hope that hepled you.
  11. i'm sorry to say that willow bows are really hard to sell. you'll end up selling to general stores i'm guessing. good luck finding a buyer, you'll need it :)
  12. I agree, though much promotion would be necesary for it to have an effect on the game in a large manner. just a post on the tip.it main site would do wonders ;) a ton of people view the site every single day. Along with a global message, tip.it could do basicly anything they want as i posted on page 3.
  13. yes indeed i listen to music while pking. it keeps me focused and less distracted by things i can see out my window.. I love reading these kinds of topics :)
  14. this would be cool, but as it's on a private server, don't believe this. every seen varrock east empty?
  15. very nice guide. it's the mist rune thing, do it at fire altar. other than that this is knowlege base quality. go put a post in there about your guide:)
  16. personally a movie about the gods in runescape, or anything else to broaden the mythology and the "personality" of the game would be great. It would also be the perfect opportunity for jagex to get their message accross, some moral about how the game is meant for fun, or how the comunity should try to help eachother more would be great. the runescape graphics couldn't be used tho. they'd have to hire real actors on a real movie set ;)
  17. There are several things that could be changed in runescape to make it all better, the problem is that the game is growing too fast in amount of players. Jagex just can't handle it. With the massive increase in players, they should try to do things that are possible, and have a positive influence on the players that play the game. Personally, i feel that a set of staff members assigned to playing the game so that at least one was online at any given point would be great. they could even organize large events to see the players, and change them. What would you do if you said "omg stupid!!!!" and a jagex mod replied, "please try to be positive". how about team events organized by a staff member? I think that jagex would get so much less hated that it would be worth it. Even official worlds would make the comunity more happy. just a post saying that a good world for so and so is that and that. then again, if you look back through the news jagex used to be personal, apologetic, and not all "professional" (in lack of better words), right now if they went back to the more homemade family company style where they honestly show that they're doing their best that would be great. Even short reminders every once in a while in the news would be great. A diary of a j mod through every day? A newspaper where users could send in their stories (maybe not but a monthly post where each of the mods could post a coupld sentances about what they've done that month? maybe even weekly? It would be awsome to see what they do at work every day like a logg, or any special requests or wishes they have from us players, posts for events they'll arrange if they want and the like)? Publicly viewable numbers of how many players are online at different times of day, how many ban appeals they've gotten, amount of players banned each day and the like would also put everything into context. If they one single day posted that they got 40 000 ban appeals and 23123 (random number) of queries on any given day and had so and so many staff members to handle it, people would try to understand i think. Jagex are doing a great job, but there still isn't a way for us players to effectivly tell them what we want more of, or possible solutions on how to make us more satisfied with them that are do-able. we have to help them helping us like we want them to help us The tip.it comunity could make a huge difference. Just a post on the main tip.it site that tip.it is doing some sort of campain to improve the game would be awsome. We get positive things from the game, so we might as well try to help make the game even better. If the main page said something like "please post atleast one message of praise on the forums every day to make jagex feel good" or, "please support us in trying to get jagex to ..." the tip.it comunity could really change runenescape. If 10 000 players want something and swamp the public forums with a ceritan wish, it will make a difference. tip.it official policy could change the face of the game in any direction the tip.it staff wants. sorry for the read, but i feel really strongly that the tip.it staff are some of the most important runescapians in existance. with a tiny little bit of effort, they could change the game! It's the equivalent to the power of the largest newspaper in the world, and could therefore make a huge difference. Tip.it week of doing good could become, tip.it's weekly policy that we would like our members to follow to improve the game. For a final example, the policy for the week starting on monday could be: "please support tip.it in trying to get saff members to make a weekly newslatter where they post what they've been doing that week in a couple of sentances to bring the players closer to jagex' mind" with a link to a forum topic ingame. I'll stop now, but if a staff member thinks this is a good idea, don't hessitate to contact me in any way. i'd love to be able to help us help ourselves!
  18. yeah if i'd gotten that far and still had a shot, i'd try to range it, if i was out of prayer or something however, i'd go for it as a last resort. personally, the inventory space used for the runes doesn't seem worth it tho... thanks a lot to you all for the clarification on how vengance works :) could anyone also be as nice as to find out how long it actually is ingame before you can cast it again?
  19. It's really hard to find someone good enough to follow you around ingame for any reason whatsoever, even most friends of friends that i've heard about won't go with them. Good luck finding someone. I'm also guessing that this post should be in the clues, clues, clues (and random events) forum or help and advice forum instead of the general p2p one. I know it's very tempting to post everything here as everyone will see them, but if you think about it, almost the only thing that acutally fits here are stories from players and a few other items.
  20. A "defender" is an item used in hand to hand combat. People actually use them today in street fights. it's basically a metal [bleep]e you hold in your fist while beating people with. it's just like those things with three rings for the fist you hit with. you'd hold the tiny end in the palm of your hand as well as the sticks and the blade would be the only thing sticking visible.[/b]
  21. I've been playing 99 for over a year now. all my friends went there because it used to be the world where high levels and "famous" people didn't get bothered. When farming was new i met zezima several times daily farming, and even though i was a noob, and still am, he was nice about it and talked back. pretty much everyone in the top of any of the highscores are to be found on world 99. The clan i'd like to join also just moved their homeworld to 99. works fine for me :) before 99 i was on 18 with my friends, but we did a collective move once 18 got "recognized" as the world for the high level players without being bothered. i'm guessing soon all those people will have to move to another world. The sweedish ones seem good alternatives to me because swidish servers are world renound. they don't lagg anywhere in particular. Woot! scandinavia FTW!
  22. awsome find:) i wonder... what were you doing to be able to find such a strange link like that? :P
  23. so vengance works for several turns? i have friends that are saying that it doesn't work more than for one hit (which would be useless). if it's good i'd try getting mage 91 to pot up for it. would it be awsome when the other player specs or does it only affect the hit where the player says "vengance"?
  24. yes that's exactly what it means.
  25. pest control is definatly the fastest way to level combat at the moment. you could make 150k+ xp per hour in a 90+ pest control group. some people are spreading rumours that jagex has planned to make it less worthwhile, so i'd go now if i were you to be on the safe side. I forget, where can i join a pest control group? :P
