  1. I've seen Dark Knight Rises twice now and, as much as I enjoyed it, I have to say that I still believe The Dark Knight is a better film for a few reasons. [spoiler=Spoilers]The Dark Knight was a darker and more serious film with more focus on the plot and message than fitting in as many characters and explosions as possible into the last movie. As much as I liked Bane, the Joker was still a better villain as he achieved most of his goals and the chaos he caused set up much of the plot for the next movie, whereas Bane/Talia failed to destroy either Batman or Gotham. I also didn't care for the whole Occupy Wallstreet vibe I was getting from Bane. I don't feel that adding political connotations to his crimes was necessary, even if that was how Bane was created in the comics (during the 80s, I might add). There was also the scene at the stock exchange around noon and they set up the iPad(?) that took 8 minutes to load. By the time the fifth minute of that passed, it was somehow night time. There were a few awesome parts of Dark Knight Rises, though. The music was well-placed to perfectly set the mood, the concept of controlling a city like that for five months is still a very interesting premise (that Nolan should have expanded upon more), and the ending was outstanding. With that ending, a sequel could be set up for either Batman or Robin and, since they left her background so vague, a Catwoman prequel. I would like to see more of this series from Nolan, but I doubt that will happen. Overall, it was an outstanding trilogy that set the bar for future superhero films. As much of a Marvel fanboy as I am, I have to say that I haven't seen a better series of superhero movies. 9/10 for the movie, 9.5/10 for the trilogy.
  2. I joined that server the other day and I've been enjoying it. There are some pretty interesting mods on there like locked chests/doors, currency (and a whole market place), warps, only one person having to sleep to end the night, and a material depot. There are some pretty sweet builds on the server too like a skyscraper city, an airplane in the sky, a legit pirate ship, the Temple of Time (from The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time), and a football/soccer stadium where they apparently played a game before. It's a nice server all around, especially when you don't have to put up with griefers. Also, there's a live map of the server, which is really useful for navigation. My only complaint is that practically everyone else on the server is Dutch and I don't know any of their words except hallo :P. I would definitely recommend joining, though.
  3. Oh boy, the MLS All Star team managed to defeat the club that finished 6th in England. I think the MLS could have selected a better opponent for its all stars to face, but good for them. I would have rather seen City, United, or Arsenal. Chelsea may have won the Champion's League, but I still feel they weren't exactly close to being the best club in Europe.
  4. Nashville was able to match Philly's offer for Weber. Nashville may take a few seasons to rebuild around him and Rinne, but this is a positive long term move for the organization. Sucks for Philly as they could have really used a defender like him to save Bryzgalov from another embarrassing playoff performance.
  5. Breaking Benjamin is my top favorite. Chevelle and Thousand Foot Krutch are tied for second.
  6. Nashville is screwed this season. They lost Suter, Tootoo, Radulov, and now Weber. All that's left is Rinne pretty much and, as Montreal demonstrated last season, a good goalie alone won't get a team very far at all.
  7. I'll dump some SFW life hacks I've picked up from 4chan and Imgur over the years. [hide] [/hide]
  8. Yep, since I'm an adult and have been playing the game since my age was a single digit, the sole purpose of the article was "Lol if ur younger then me than i h8 u." True story. On a non-sarcastic note, would you care to elaborate on the "legitimate problems?" I fail to see how what I listed were not legitimate problems. I see most of the rest of the EoC as a massive, long-overdue improvement to the game. Alright, imagine two players with identical attack/strength, defense, magic, and ranged fight. One has turmoil, soul split, a steel titan, and 99 hitpoints. The other has steel skin, a bronze minotaur, and 52 hitpoints. Guess who wins every time? Being able to calculate my combat level in my head is hardly something I need to worry about when, you know, my combat level is displayed for me in game and there are calculators on multiple sites (including this one) that can calculate it for you. As I addressed in the article, yes, your hits are more precise... so are the hits against you (negating any positive effect). 250 and 25 x 10 are identical. Neither is cooler. One is simple and space-saving on an already cluttered interface and the other is an appeal to an audience Jagex claims not to target. As for prayer, multiplying that by 10 only made prayer flashing more difficult. That added no benefits to the player.
  9. Those tags look awfully familiar to the ones I made for the Tip.It Times...
  10. Isn't this only two major tournaments in a row for Spain? USA knocked out Spain in the Confederations Cup in '09, which I would consider to be a major tournament.
  11. Tootoo played for the Preds actually, but yeah, I don't care for him very much either. I'm still hoping for Parise and Suter (despite their ridiculous contract offers). As far as Jonas Gustavsson (the Sweedish goalie) goes, I wasn't really impressed by him when he played for Toronto, but maybe some of the dedicated Leafs fans here can shed some more light on him.
  12. I would like to congratulate my old friend, Pat Sieloff, on being drafted 42nd overall to the Calgary Flames
  13. Both teams looked very impressive, but Germany had total control of the midfield that game. I'm just hoping that Holland still finds a way to qualify for the quarter finals.
  14. Same thing happened when the U.S. played that friendly in France last November and when our women's team lost in the WC finals to Japan... That headline about resistance is ironic, though.
  15. Congrats to the Kings on winning their first Stanley Cup. There's nothing quite like watching the captain raise the Stanley Cup. My room is extremely warm right now and even I got chills watching the winning ceremony. Also, glad to see Bettman booed again. This is a tradition that I hope lasts until he's finally dismissed for incompetency (if that's even possible).
  16. Any excitement going into this game is now gone. I want LA to win, but this is just monotonous waiting for LA to raise the Cup now...
  17. England/France was pretty boring and Ireland/Croatia was a crap match all around. Looking forward to Netherlands/Germany.
  18. Pretend the hypothetical BTS was released on Friday and the update was the next Tuesday or Wednesday (like how this month worked).
  19. Neither team looked all that impressive in the third period. I wouldn't be surprised if NJ took Game 5 too. I'm just glad there's still more hockey. Other than a rare international soccer game, there's no more sports until the Olympics once hockey is over :(.

    Languages

English (Fluent), Spanish (read/write), Latin (basics), Italian (some phrases), and Cantonese Chinese (some words, spoken only) English is my native tongue. I learned bits and pieces of Chinese and Italian from my grandparents, but there's no way I could hold a conversation with anyone in either language. I have also studied Spanish in school enough to read/write the language well, but I'm hopeless at listening/speaking. Finally, I studied the basics of Latin to learn some of the roots of English and Spanish words.
  21. Yeah, the finals haven't been that exciting. The only thing I'm looking forward to right now is Bettman being booed by the fans again after someone wins the Cup.
  22. I don't know what's funnier, that I expected something decent from Jagex or that I'm surprised that this month appears to be useless.
  23. Glad to see LA pick up the win last night. It was a surprisingly closer game than I would have expected, though. As for Lidstrom's retirement, congrats to him on an amazing career. This means we more than likely picked up Suter and another big-name defenseman with all that open salary cap space.
  24. Oh yeah, and my bracket is still perfect too . No, but in all seriousness, won't this be the first time that either an 8 seed or a 6 seed will have won the Cup since the 16 team format was used?
  25. Not really a big Chelsea fan, but I thoroughly enjoyed today's Champion's League final. There was a little too much diving in extra time for my tastes, but it was still one of the best matches I've seen in a long time. I couldn't believe Bayern's goalkeeper not only took a penalty kick, but also scored... Also looking forward to USA vs. Brazil. Hopefully we only lose by 1 this time.
