  1. Think it's gonna crash and burn. Still looking forward to clan chat updates etc, but this looks horrible. To me it seems like Jagex still don't seem to fully understand clanning.
  2. that awkward moment where you call a clan dead and then they clear you...... Congratz THE :D
  3. Gf them, they only managed to get 339k cook xp in a week? lol. Congratz on your dominating win WS.
  4. Well either it wasn't permanently or it was a small temp ban, but I appreciate your snarkiness nonetheless. Staff always give reasons when asked, so forgive me for saying that's a crock of [cabbage] you're trying to pass off as fact. And even if they didn't in some miraculous and twisted parralel universe, then when they appealed even with "Why was I banned etc etc" they would have it thoroughly explained to them by an admin. Well you wouldn't get a reason for why Danny was banned, but if you asked a staff member about your own ban you would of got an answer. Quite curious as to who you talked to, even, because your recap of the situation seems...faulty. In regards to the irc mute, honestly, I wouldn't be surprised if you weren't asking in public repeatedly and then your friends took up the chant, which would've given an IRC moderator no choice but to take action as they had. And, mind you, you don't need to be unbanned from a channel to private message anyone online in IRC; you could've pm'ed the person who supposedly muted and kicked you even. I don't like when people multiquote and break things up, much more annoying to make a response for me :|. I never said I asked why Danny was banned, but simply that he didn't know himself. And if I remember correctly Danny got a month ban for... Nothing? I guess you could consider that a "small temp ban". Staff didn't give reasons when I asked, and like I said the only response I got was "that wont get you unbanned", I never got an email either and when I asked about that they said they were "too busy" and would "get to it eventually". Still never received that email either! The people who did so was everyone that was halfop+ in #clans at the time, and I'll post logs if you really want them, but then again I can already see you calling them fake or something. It's funny because the staff here never admits to any wrongdoing, it's always someone else's fault or problem. And obviously by the look of things in this forum, they are clearly never wrong! Another problem with these forums is that everyone seems to have to blame someone else when something goes wrong. People should start taking responsibility for their actions - Mods included. People should realise that mods do have to take a stubborn standpoint and cannot always concede losses - a moderating team that seems to have no backbone will be abused by trolls and such. That said don't hold back on what you think is a fair point - just make sure it's put across in a manner that wont lead to mud-flinging. When a mod takes a viewpoint which they've shown is 'official' and they wont stand down from, maybe it's best to continue your discussion via pm - third party input doesn't always help. Before posting *THINK* is your post just a way for you venting? Maybe if a discussion gets particularly heated you should take a break - we don't want things spiralling into personal attacks and the likes. Everyone posting here is human - lighten up and accept that YOU are not perfect either. sorry, I know these are apparently OBVIOUS but it appears people tend to forget these things. They just read the last reply, get riled up about it and let their opinions flood out when they'd be much better off keeping their mouths shut. I wouldn't want you all to do this all the time, because then things wouldn't be as much fun, but I think it's particularly relevant to this topic because I think it's at the point where it could go off the rails. P.s. Wooo 96 def :)
  5. Agree with this in its totality. Although sometimes building up the tension to a change that's coming our way can be tantalising, right now it's not what we need. We need action. Although you're going to get some people who just troll the topic etc I think it'd be much more constructive to put it out there. The reason why I like tip.it is because the individual can put forward a point and not just be trolled and flamed. If I posted the opinions I have on Zybez I'd just be called a no-namer and told to [bleep] off. You're noticed here! Regardless of your clan and position there-in, @ Unclebilly, thanks for the feedback! I was probably a bit rash in my 'unban the banned' statement, but was about to go to work and was typing in a hurry. I do think it might be worthwhile however to review some of the bans as they may have been handed out by stricter mods or under a more intense atmosphere. This would undoubtedly involve some amount of work, so it's most likely best left to later. AS for the Zybez statement, I was vague there too - I meant that people who didn't have any experience at all with clanning were able to get a taste with it via clan wars, and to that extent it was beneficial. The flip side of that coin was (sadly) the death of quite a few clans. But hey-[garden tool] that's life. Just had a thought- Maybe Tip.it could hold an event hosted by multiple clans to which everyone is invited. e.g. 3 clans from the TWR agree to set up an event with a time and cc suits them. The event can be posted in the Events forum on tip.it to which the entire tip.it community is invited and welcome to join. This works in two ways - it draws newer people into clanning, helping clans get new recruits + will get more posters active in CD. Another option might be 3 clans vs 3 clans public event. so 3 clans form a loose kind of alliance and agree to camp GWD (Bandos for ease of access) for say a day to a week. They'd be competing against the other 3 allied clans to try and get the most gp in the day/week, I know big clans like DF did this (Think they were competing against RSD or something?), so it might be an idea to get mroe people involved in clanning. Financially it might not do anyone much good (even an armadyl hilt aint much between 60 people) but it'd be fun - and that's the main reason we're in clans. I imagine we could get a similar event running for f2p, but I think it would require some more thought and planning as there's far more fun to be had in a p2p environement. (maybe something like a welfare armour open clan alliance war? held in red portal of ffa?) sorry, absolutely shattered as I type this, me and 15 hour days are seemingly incompatible. My idea's are probably full of holes, ( I hope they are, that way the problems are easier to pick out and fix!!) but I hope someone can make something of them.
  6. SECTION 1 I think that the shift has been attributed to clans developing and focussing more on the pvp aspect of warring. Downfall are a prime example of this. Downfall started off as a home grown w141 clan. They decided that they enjoyed warring so much that they'd go official. At that time in their career they knew there was absolutely no way they'd be able to take on the top clans of the time like DI, TT etc. So what did they do? They found a place where they could fight clans similar to themselves and develop their warring technique. Tipit was their answer. Clans like Df, Lgz, Dv and Tk were all just starting out at this time, and they all met up here. Tipit was mutually beneficial for everyone involved, they could gain warring experience and bolster their numbers. There was also a healthy rivalry that grew between clans and encouraged them to war actively. So where are Downfall now? In short they've moved on. They reached that goal that they set out to reach, they're now able to war tougher, more challenging opponents, usually in a more dangerous environemnt; and this is what they enjoy. (Ignoring the mass ban scenario, which I thought poorly handled at the time, but c'est la vie.) So we can see Tipit is producing some great clans, but the production has teetered off. Imo this is down to the fact that more players aren't being introduced to warring. Prior to the release of clan wars there was only the big clans of Zybez. Clan wars changed all that, it gave everybody a chance at warring, they could see what it was like, and most of them thoroughly enjoyed it. Consequently they went on to estbalish clans. The first reintroduciton of pking (with pvp + bh worlds) delt Clan wars a blow from which it would never recover. Easily half the players who enjoyed clan wars now had pastures anew to graze, they had always enjoyed pvp but the only real way for them to get involved with it was clan wars (asides from the old BH craters, and after the removal of multi areas everyone pretty much hated them). Although some new clans (e.g. PH) Did emerge with the return of real pking, there weren't as many as those who appeared with clan wars. So now there's no real breeding ground for new clans. SECTION 2 What can be done to attract new members? Really, I don't know. One source of potential untapped talent would be the Runescape Forums. There is no real shortage of clans there, and I'm sure their introduction to these boards would cause activity to pick up a bit- because I know for a fact clans like T0 and Lgz would slap them around for a bit, and when you push someone around for long enough, they'll eventually push you back. I see two obstacles that have to be overcome here however: How Do we attract these people form Runescape to Tip.It How do we change the notoriously conservative attitude of the average RSoF User? The first point is self explanatory; the thing is I have absolutely no real idea of how you might want to go about this. The Second point - if you've ever had to deal with people from clans off of RSoF (For example in the Jagex Clan Cup) I'm sure you're aware that pretty much any loose group of friends will be counted as a clan. The *majority* (not all) of these players don't seem to understand that there are runescape related forums outside of those offered by Jagex; they're often hard headed to a point that can infuriate even the most patient clan officials and their clans are full of 120+ that think they'll get handed the win just because they're high levels. However, there is hope. I'm adamant that if these people are attracted here, then odds are they'll adapt. They'll realise that they aren't going to win just because they've got a high pull of high levels, they're going to have to work for it. It's human nature to adapt to a challenge. The only problem is of course, attracting them here. SECTION 3 How do we bring back old members? Get the forums active Get New Posters Get Good, Meanigful Discussions running on a consistent basis Chilax a little with the rules. I know it's often said the mods are more lenient here than anywhere else on the forums, but still, I think action should only be taken against a player if they spam, start a flame war or directly insult a member of staff. Unban the banned Advertise CD on other parts of the form - this gets new posters in which picks up activity which will bring old posters back! SECTION 4 TL;DR Clanning boomed with the introduction of clan wars these new clans couldn't face stronger ones, so they started out on Tip.it Instead These clans have advanced to a point that they no longer see Tip.it as the main hub of the clanning world; it offers no real challenge Try getting more people involved in clanning. RSoF and other such forums might be the key! Sectoin 3 is bullet points; it's not too long to read. I apologise in advance for the hundreds of typos.
  7. If the Cider's any kind of Kopperberg and you mix some classic 'buckie' in, it goes down a treat ;)
  8. no I'm an outspoken, opinionated [bleep] in real life too.
  9. DS were good, but it's not simply because they could outlast, it's because they could outclass too. I wouldn't say a clan is number one just because it has enough members in all timezone's to outlast a clan based in just one. Outlasting is for clans who can't win through true skill and determination.
  10. Gratz both clans! Nice to see a war that wasn't uncapped for a change too :D
  11. I also have a problem with this, because there've been situations were humans have been raised by animals, but they still have a set of morals, they KNOW what is 'right' and 'wrong'. That means it's hard wired into us, so it could be one of two things: either there is a 'god' (maybe it exists in the Thiestic sense, or maybe it's more of a 'New World' sense) or we've evolved it in order to further our chances of passing on our own genes (as Discussed in Richard Dawkins "Selfish Gene"). But I don't find the latter explanation satisfactory because humans are capable fo doing completely irrational things in the name of morality which could ultimately destroy any chances we have of apssing on our genes; it just doesn't seem right to me. Your statement is very ambiguous. When you say 'they know what is 'right' or 'wrong'', do you mean that they have their own ideas on what is 'right' or 'wrong' or that they agree with your own ideas of 'right and 'wrong'? If it's the first, yes, humans are hard wired to do that. We primarily rely on morality as a social construct, the result of the thoughts and discussions of the ancestors of those who teach us. However, if left without any input, a human will use his/her own experiences as a base to form his/her own morals, in which case it is simply a human construct. For example, a common, but not universal one is the principle of cooperation for mutual benefit, and anyone would work that one out by discovering the bad consequences of not cooperating with others. Our genes tell us to observe, remember, generalise, and act, the tools for making a moral system, but they don't tell us what we come up with, otherwise we'd all have the same concept of morality. It's still a human construct. If it's the second one, I don't believe you. It's not plausible to think that two humans that have never met and do not have any common experiences will have the exact same concepts of morality. In fact, I have reservations that such a thing is possible even if you HAVE met or have common experiences. Nobody *knows* (as in the universal non-subjective know) 'right' and 'wrong'. I meant that all Humans seem to have hard wired into them a certain morale code. For exaample: no individual human of a stable mental health will ever glorify murder, unless this thought is placed within them by another human being. Even when murder benefits us no one with any sense about them would take that path because they know it is wrong. Obviously people with different experiences are going to have different opinions on the fine points, but essentially "The Ten Commandments" can be found in every single society: we know stealing is wrong murder is wrong adultery is wrong the only time that we ever go against our moral code is when our very live's are risked by not doing so.
  12. DO IT. You have my sword. It might be hard to break in, seeing as mental asylums are big targets for urban explorers, so there will probably good locks and doors. that, and the fact that we like to keep mental patients securely locked up... VERY good locks and doors.
  13. You wont tolerate discrimination against yourself or others? Kind of ironic then that you just completely bashed the hell out of ALL Religions, and thereby ALL of their followers, by calling them Evil. If you kill an innocent man with a sword in cold blood - the sword is not evil, but the killer is. For the same reason religion itself is not evil, most religions provide people with a decent set of moral standards by which to live their lives, what's evil about that? The thing is that mankind can pervert something which is good to their own ends and THAT is evil.
  14. Sorry, wut? Your post their would imply that I follow a religion, which I do not, I am Agnostic. The problem I have with Militant's of any religion as that by deffinition, in my eyes anyway, they go too far. Militant Christians led "Holy Crusades", Militant Islamic groups are currently a source of turbulence to the safety of the World in general and Militant Athiests seem to think that they've got it all figured out so it's okay for them to harass all religions as they see fit. Just because they have a lack of faith does not mean they need to instill such ignorance in others. The only reason I mentioned Athiests in particular was because most people would probably overlook them entirely.
  15. There are two kinds of Believers I just can't stand: Scientologists Militants Scientology is just a scam, if you're going to create a religion please make it something which is [bleep]ing credible. As for militant Religious fanatics ( Including Athiests) don't get me started.
  16. I meant cease to exist as in dieing completely. Having no consciousness to any universe. Also, for the record, a mass cannot be destroyed, only changed from one form to another. E=MC^2 :P I know that mass and energy cannot be destroyed. It was a mis-understanding of your post- I thought by caesing to exist you meant that the person and their influence on the universe was completely nulled (i.e. they were removed from time and all multiverses). What I don't get however is you saying in exactly half the universes you die as you fall out the tree. Shouldn't that also mean that you only deveelop the terminal illness in half of the universes, and you only die of old age in another half of them? So you'll keep on living forever because if the universes are infinite and half of infinity is still infinity.....
  17. As leader of the world I accept. Goodluck.
  18. epic picture!! I agree, it's well out of hand, these bots aren't like in the old days where you could find them with the standard avatar wcing yews at lumbridge. They're bigger and badder and need to be taken down a notch.
  19. Surely then that you would need some kind of 'machine' to remove all particles that were in your body from the space time continium before you could be dubbed as "caesing to exist" This would also mean that all your actions and all memories of you would too vanish, therefore the only actual way to remove something from existance is to remove everything from existance.
  20. People who are mature enough to understand that consequences have actions and where to draw the line. I understand for many that is a hard concept to grasp, but to doubt that it can be a severe problem is sheer ignorance. Save that for /b/. It's not that bad as long as you don't let it degrade into something more serious. Words only do real damage if you want them to. If you're willing to stick your head up and say "[bleep] you world, I am who I am and no sad-act over the internet is going to get me down" Then odds are you're just going to let the trolls, insults and flames slide off you. However Clans and the Community do need to watch individuals who are willing to take it that bit further with real life threats, DDoSing etc. They genuinely CAN cause damage, but odds are it's because they don't handle trolls and flames too well / are emotional f**kt**ds and can only vent their in game frustrations through harming others.
  21. Oh Goody, we can murder all those things too then. Now I recall you mentioning baby seals earlier in the topic, are you available at any time for that? When I tell people I club them to death I get so many dodgy looks, it's such a relief to finally meet a kindred spirit.
  22. I brought it up because of OoT. They essentially raped Zelda. I always get the most empty feeling inside whenever I finish a good Zelda game :( As for the questions Half full - because I said so tree falling in forest- it does make a sound, conservation of energy, It's the first Law of Thermodynamics. If you try to fail and succeed - you have succeeded at your set task to ultimately fail, i.e. you have suceeded one thing but failed a different thing simultaenously. There are no faults because it's entirely theoretical. The purest form of government is one which is governed by those who scorn and distrust power. This is real life - anyone who defines it as fantasy just can't handle it.
