Mmm... Been working on this for about an hour now... and so far the highlights and shadows on the bodykit really have me stumped... I'm trying to make them look good but I'm not doing very well at it... I've gone through about 3 different light sources.... I also did some of one of the rims, but it looks funny... so I won't be posting that either... Let me know what you think, and anything you notice about the shadows that would help me draw them. Right now I'm mainly working on the sideskirt. I just can't seem to get it looking right...

Well if that's the actual size, printing it at home is the only practical thing to do. Let's see... at print quality resolution that's about... what... 1.1"x2.3"?

:roll: CGTalk is one of, if not the largest CG forums of its kind around... I'm sure you can find a majority of people who will all support different programs. All these programs are different and it's useful if you can sample them before you buy them. I've used Zbrush 1.55 and I must say I think that there are many features that were impressive, but hopefully Z2 had alot of improvements; as I have yet to use it I cannot really judge. Never used Maya or C4D so I can't say much about those. I've mainly used Lightwave 7.5 (have yet to use 8 ) and I don't really like it. NewTek (the developers of Lightwave) are a local company and I drive by their offices every now and then; it looks like a barn... I don't really like the progam, I think the workflow is hindered and it needs work. SoftimageXSI can be fairly buggy at times but I must say it's a great program. We use it at my studio and I love it. Everything is easily accessible and I can get to where I'm going and I know what I'm doing when I hit each button. The shortcuts are well placed and memorable. I enjoy the riggings it has to offer and I love the way it uses the three component methods for polygon modeling and such.. I just love it. It was hard to transition from Lightwave but now I can't go back. After using Softimage the past few months I have gotten very used to it and I don't think I can even remember hardly anything in Lightwave. I've used older versions of 3DSM, and I must say I wasn't impressed. But technology has changed greatly since those older versions so I'm sure the product is alot better now. The thing to remember though, is that software is only a tool. At times one tool can be better than another, but ultimately it's who's designing it that determines whether a project is a success or not. Don't pick a program if you don't understand the concept of 3D and all there is to it; expecting to be good right away.

Cinema4D, rather. (time) You used Zbrush's zspheres or you used a program called Zspheres? If you used Zbrush, I definitely recommend getting it. I have yet to use Zbrush2 but about 3 years ago I used to use Zbrush1.55 and I thought it was great. I'm looking to use the new one as soon as we get it at school or work, whichever comes first.

Stomach is too sucked in and hind legs are too developed.... the front legs look like skeletons... not sure what's going on with the tail... and yes, he looks evil... I'd give him eyeballs or reduce the horn effect on the ears....

I was actually going to do a concentration on greek mythology earlier this year.... Since I didn't have time I was going to start it in the summer... Hmmm sounds fun I might not post it for a while but I'll be working on one... Just have to come up with a good theme for whichever character I pick. :)

Yeah, I think that if you buy software for your company and bring it home, it is still stealing. I know with alot of the higher end programs that we use at work (SoftimageXSI and Lightwave) we have to have dongels on each computer to make them run. This is to prevent exactly what you just described. I'm glad I'm working in this field now, I haven't opened up an image editing program on my home machine in about 3 months. :lol: And my tablet is not even installed here at home. I think if I wanted to download some programs illegally, I probably wouldn't even get around to using them. :lol:

Lol.... what a waste of bandwidth. People are going to charge whatever they can for whatever they make no matter who tries to steal it. These "software tycoons" or whatever you want to call them are making so much money they aren't going to "raise the price" because they see an increasing trend in illegal downloads. The people who use the programs professionaly purchase them. The idiots who pirate them cannot even work them, and probably end up messing their computer up even more later on down the road when they visit some stupid crack site and don't know how to keep its viruses out.

So maybe what we should do is this; 1) Ask Wyrm to start locking more stuff that we don't like, 2) Start posting so much more "art" type stuff and WIP's that it will convince other people to do the same. If we change their attitudes about it and they see us doing it, perhaps we can get rid of some of the things we talked about we didn't like. This is, afterall, the media board. It just so happens that people sell signatures here

Interesting... doesn't matter if it's a usergroup or an open forum... we should just take what we can get for the time being... then maybe it can grow from there? I'd definitely be interested... I think it would be cool (once I'm allowed to) to show you guys some of the stuff I get to work on. :)
