  1. The best way to accurately adjust brightness and contrast is to use the Levels Editor. Alot of times Overlay/ *Light / Screens produce very limited effects where you cannot control all parts of the image... As far as my tricks.... I use layer modes religiously... so where to start... One thing I use alot is Luminosity. I'll duplicate a layer (say the background) and change it to grayscale (Ctrl + U; Saturation to -100). Then I'll adjust the levels and bring out whatever highlights I really want to see. This works exceptionally well with lensflares, or preserving lights once you have tried to brush over them. We do this alot when repairing photos, or even animated sequences. Anyway, once you have your grayscale image nice and blown out (read: lots of highlights) you can set that layer to Luminosity, and it will enhance the highlights of that image. Another layer mode commonly used is Multiply, to color images. You can produce linework as a black and white layer, and set it to multiply. Put it at the top of your layer hierarchy (No, I can't spell) and put layers under it. When you apply color under it, because the Multiply is black and white, it will show through. If the image is a different color however, you will get unwanted effects due to color hexs trying to multiply each other. Linear burns are good for certain lighting effects in conjunction with black as well.... I really can't explain all the layer effects I use... I have alot of images where I compound many layer modes onto each other, usually about 3-4 at a time, sometimes more. I also change the opacity on all of them to get ultimate control. If you really want to know more you can always contact me on aim. ;)
  2. Open your Properties Inspector. Select the .GIF output. Click Publish. It will output the GIF into whatever folder you saved the FLA by default.
  3. Download the trial of ImageReady, and screen capture each frame + copy paste. ;) Or just get an animation program off google, there are tons that are watermark-free and/or trials. http://www.google.com
  4. Background? How about starting a new trend? Pixeling over terragen landscapes. Would be nice to see a cool looking mountain and sky in that background. Especially with that eagle in there. :)
  5. I'm glad you're so dedicated to learning the software you purchased. Your dedication to your craft is a wonder to me; especially considering how much I and others flame you at times. Keep up that attitude. It's very inspiring. Sig is nothing spectacular, though.
  6. Technically, black&white and grayscale are two different things. As referred to in definition 3. The same is true for the word "Monochrome"
  7. The text SCREAMS GreatSilverWyrm, while the mood of the background does the same for Witty. Funny, I thought Witty had made it himself... And I was about to post; "Looks like he stole it (the text) from something Wyrm did." Not literally, of course.
  8. That's not monochrome... that's black and white. Don't like it, sorry.
  9. Keiphus replied to Loth's topic in Art and Media
Would look better without all the nasty reflections....
  10. Wanna do one for a thunderbird? :-P
  11. Sorry, but this guy just cracks me up.
  12. I skinned an old version of AIMster like 3 years ago... :-P It's not really that hard, is it? Isn't it just replacing images with your own? Or are you talking about completely redesigning the interface? That of course is another story...
  13. I think Nik skins also... might wanna ask him... And if Kane = Kaneso... him too...
  14. I agree with 2 of the comments; 1. The sun/moon is bit off in color and brightness.... I'd make it a bit less yellow/white and make it more purple/blue/white maybe... 2. The contrast on the island/water transition is off where the reflection on the water is.. As for the rest of the comments, I disagree with probably every single one of them. Grow up children.
  15. Theakman's stuff is good.... but that image is way over-rated. Also, can you model in Vue? As with most landscaping programs, they seem to be a composition task rather than an artistic ability.
  16. Why did you even post if you don't take anyones criticism? From what I can tell, you've learned too much over on RV and your style is garbage. You completely ruined the picture with the ugly render-cloud looking brushes, and you did a poor job of cutting out the woman with her bow. The text is horrible, and too wavy. It's got an evil theme and an evil name, and the style of text just doesn't match it. You tried to do something that "looked cool" according to what you and your friends style over on RV is, and you failed miserably. Good try, though.
  17. Anyone know any places to upload? Haven't used my FTP in over a year...
  18. No offence, but if you don't know me (I don't care how funny you think it is) posting that I'm still a pri** won't get you very far. I'd even be willing to say you will regret it. Especially with my mad flaming skills.
  19. Yeah it's less than 2 seconds... It was supposed to be around 3.5, but as I said, I messed up the keyframing when I rendered it, I forgot that I had changed the frame rate, blah blah blah you probably won't understand... Anywho, yeah it's short.... We removed smoke because it actually doesn't look that great. The program we use doesn't do fire that well (as you can see); instead it likes to make what we call orange cotton balls. We aren't too convinced yet, we are thinking about buying 3dsm and upgrading it with Afterburn just to do this one project, that's how important it is. I've also messed around recently with RealFlow, and I'm pretty impressed. Unfortunately I'm not much a texturer/shader writer and I need help in that area. Tapering is possible but with so many different settings it's hard to get right. There are so many different controls on the structure and controlling the particles is proving difficult. More later. :)
  20. Quick test.... Playing with fire.... http://209.245.59.187/Gimme/65544114/66 ... fire7a.mov Gonna end up being a volcano explosion of some sort... Lava is next... :) I set the wrong number for keyframes in quicktime when I had the video rendered, so it ends wierd... don't worry about it though, it isn't really like that. Let me know if the link doesnt work... does anyone know any places I can host a 500k quicktime? So, what do you think?
  21. Alot of times we aren't egotistical... we are just real. And we get tired of having to deal with idiots, and sometimes we lash out. We are good people though; I promise. Wyrm is a friend of mine, he's a good guy. ;)
  22. Actually this doesnt look to bad, I only see a lighting problem.... Keep the mountains as dark as they are, but throw a nice light on the ocean, and let us see the waves and stuff... That would make it look really good I think.... Oh, and scrap that hell picture you posted last time. It looked like [cabbage].
  23. too much space between them, it appears...
