  1. I need a name for the contest, someone help me out...
  2. First off, good post Tttia. Very close to my exact feelings about art and specifically, abstraction. There are many different forms of art; and different forms have different meanings. Most of todays artists will eventually end up in commercial art if they pursue it professionally. This type of art must convey a recognizable subject matter, but it often has less "artsy" roots, whereas its main goal is to sell something. Alot of people would argue that this is not art anyway, but that's probably for another discussion. I think alot of todays artists are more technically sound than they are artistically; I know it is true of me. We know how art is created, and we know what makes good art, so we put 1 and 1 together. However, I think there is a serious of lack of "pure talent" in the art world today. Bit of a deviation from Tttia's post: Also, art doesn't have to be graphical. I would consider musicians (sorry, it's early and I can't spell) to be artists as well. Art is anything that conveys a specific emotion. The main job of the artist is not to convey specific ideas to a group of people; that's propoganda. The main job of the artist is to convey his ideas, and let the viewer figure them out. It's the secrecy that makes it genius. In short, this is a boring topic, let's get it overwith as soon as possible.
  3. Mind elaborating a bit on your method? I've been modeling alot lately at work (although I can't show alot of what I do) but I must say that your attention to detail is pretty good. That seems to be what usually makes or breaks a good model. So how do you go about it? How do you start? Just simple polygon modeling from simple shapes? Or do you draw your points and create the polygons from those? Really nice work. :)
  4. Things that fly: Speedpainting I did in a few minutes... was done a while ago...
  5. some color corrections on the background and added a few small things...
  6. couple more things changed around... rims are now carbon fiber... Added the bottle, it kinda sucks though because the rag kinda takes away from it, the bottle looks really cool by itself. I think I might add the rag on the floor next to it instead. The thing you have to remember about car shows (and this is not just and excuse) is that there are tons of lights pouring from all over. If you look at pictures or go to shows you would know what I mean. There are so many lights from so many different sources, there are highlights on all sides of surfaces. There is no real "correct" light source.
  7. updates....
  8. It's for a contest... Any topic art contest, and just felt like doing a car...
  9. It's a bezier curve... the line crosses through each point with a control handle on each end for degree and strength of influence... (interpolation)
  10. No, but I did use Photoshop pen tool.... The secret to the pen tool is anticipation.
  11. More work on the figure... Kinda reminds me of The Rock... haha..
  12. Here's the guy I'm putting in it.. He's gonna probably have some [bleep]ey hair, I don't know yet. Cookies to whoever can guess the reference. :P How it will look: Even more cookies if you can guess why I did this. ;) Scrapped the crazy background, was just messing around with it anyway... Added a carbon fiber hood, and a reflection or two... The car itself is about 60% done. The guy about 30%... Just estimates of course.
  13. Why would I ruin a beautiful car with red tint?
  14. Yeah, that shouldn't be a problem at all. :)
  15. I like it alot, but to me it kinda resembles a hummingbird? Doesn't look aggresive enough for a phoenix.
  16. Final update for today...
  17. I'm guessing that's pretty close to the original, Prismamarkers are really good at getting very realistic details if you use them right...
  18. Today is my first day back at school, so I haven't had time to work on the harley. Everything on this new car was done over the weekend at home. I'll post what I did on the harley last week up though, but all I did was a few of the lines.
  19. Ok well I've been unable to access the forums from home, so I'll probably only post here when I'm at school and work. This was one I worked on this weekend at home; it's coming out nicer than I expected. It's a different style/approach. More black lines this time too. The rims were probably what took the longest, finding what looked good and getting the right angles...
  20. Oh dear... now we are gonna have noobs all over cgt...
  21. This is for a contest, I'll be doing two vehicles; the s2000 and a harley truck. The balcony will not be shown. I told you guys I had rushed through it for a grade, and the end product showed it. Although it's pretty good compared to others, I don't feel like I should have to identify with it, because it doesn't meet my standards. So I won't show it.
  22. Heh... I started an awesome drawing of a Harley Davidson F150, but I didn't get a chance to upload it.. I'll show you guys that one on monday, next time I'm at school.
