  1. Gah, sorry guys. Got pulled away by some IRL stuff I had to do.
  2. 3 to start. I'm going to need to eat dinner soon, but that won't take too long.
  3. sound like =/= is It's the interwebz, mather. Even though we're all buddies in the tavern, remember..... PEOPLE WILL TROLL. Whether they notice or not.
  4. I can do a short-ish session around 5-6 hours from now. I'm on lunch break atm.

You have to dig through bluemetal pillars in order to hit demons, iirc. It goes: Cavern 1 - wimpy monsters Cavern 2 - meh monsters Cavern 3 - scary monsters Magma Sea - MAGMAAAAA Bluemetal Tubez - Spoiler your spoilers, Ross you heretic! Happy Fun Stuff - Death. Oh yeah. My new embark is on a 2x2 area - cuts down on savelag a LOT, and ups your FPS something wonderful. These dwarves are going at like Mach 2...

Speaking of goblin sieges, I just got one. And halfway through the long golbin trek to where my fort actually is, Windows decides to go, "oh, time to update myself and shut down automatically!" I was hoping to actually have some fun, but Windows wouldn't let me. So... TIEM FOR NEW FORT. Don't wanna play the old one without the challenge I would have had fending off 2 pages of invaders.

So I left my legendary boneworker (dude made one of my only useful artifacts - donkey bone buckler) with a task to create bone bolts on repeat. It just so happens I had slaughtered a migrant wave's worth of new animals right before that, and killed off a mass of cats before that, so.... I now have enough masterwork bone bolts for my 10-man crossbow squad to train themselves to legendary, and still have enough to take out ~5 goblin sieges. Yeeeeeah.
  8. While the mod's away, the players will..... argue....? Yeah, sorry guys. Totally forgotten I had my day booked out. Multiple times. Although I did end up having my dad mow the lawn so I don't have to later....
  9. Next session tomorrow sometime then.

Go to Orders -> Refuse. Make sure you have "Gather refuse from outside" on, else your dwarves will only move corpses and such that are inside the fort.

Thanks for the tip, Ross. I have put into effect a new dwarven decree: Any hostile enemies captured capable of distance attacks are to be drowned. Any hostile enemies captured incapable of distance attacks are to be used for practice shooting by either the crossbow squad or by a ballistae.
  12. Just out of curiosity, how does the cannon do that? Does it confuse the bot, or does it just keep the door from opening? Because if it's the latter, then they might not all be bots...

Hmm.... it appears that there is one major flaw in my goblin drowning system... All the goblin's belongings get washed away in the current. Meaning I have no chance to melt them down into useful stuff. Looks like I'll just have to make a goblin shooting range instead.

Just fended off my first goblin siege, with 2 soldiers, a moronic hunter, and a bunch of war dogs as casualties. May they rest in peace, blah blah blah, I managed to catch on of the goblins. Waiting for my river to thaw so I can test out my goblin drowning chamber. Oh, and I'm building a massive microcline/schist spire for kicks.
  15. They're probably AFK, doing stuff IRL.
  16. Earth - The shield glows more brightly as you give it the poison from the ferret. Iey - The ferret hisses something indistinguishable. Ross - You attempt to make more cards, but fail to cut them well enough for them to be usable for anything besides cannon fodder.
  17. Earth - You wake up, and your shield activates again, vaporising the part of the wall covering you, your eyebrows, and most of your hair. Ross - You wake up and dice your half of the wall with a card. +0.1 cartomancy.
  18. Earth - You see no way out, until you see Ross making doors with his cards. You follow him, and are thus knocked out by the wall falling on you. Ross - You cut doors in 3 of the floors-turned-walls with your cards, but on the 3rd (and final) floor, you cut the door-shape and the wall falls out around it, landing on both you and Earth. You are now unconscious. +0.2 cartomancy.

EVIL OCEAN. Skeletal whales ftw. On a different note, it appears my gem setter is obsessed with one specific olivine ring.... he's encrusted the thing with ~10 types of gems now. It alone is worth more than most of my artifacts combined, not including my native-gold-crown-of-awesomeness.
  20. Earth - You manage to climb the ladder. Ross - The place has been ransacked. And whatever wasn't taken has been basically destroyed in the building collapse. You do, however, manage to extract some weak string from the remnants of a carpet.
  21. Earth - You slip while trying to climb the ladder. Ross - It's an old office building turned sideways. What are you expecting to find?
  22. Earth - You wake up. Ross - You climb the ladder back into the fallen building.
  23. Earth - You drain the rest of the ferret poison out of your body, then climb the ladder. Once you've reached the top of the ladder, you realize that Ross inadvertently knocked down a wall on top of it. But before you can think of how to confront the issue, your shield activates and laser-blasts a hole in the fallen wall... and the rest of the building.... and an unfortunate satellite that had been overhead. You, obviously, are knocked into the ground, unconscious. +0.3 poison. Nex - You accidentally cut off all blood flow to that hand. Well, at least it's not bleeding any more...
  24. Ross - You wake up, and realize that the wall fell over the manhole. You're going to have to cut it or move it. Earth - You put the ferret down, and it scampers off into the sewers. You manage to drain some poison from your body, and notice that your shield has become brighter again. Nex - The ferret rips one of your fingernails off and chews on it happily while you run around screaming in agony.
  25. Ross - You're still unconscious. Earth - The ferret bites your hand, then bites your arm again. You begin to feel woozy.
