  1. I always thought that having a map/pictures sorta killed a part of the aspect of Dungeoneering. It's more entertaining to have a session start and everyone spend the first few actions remembering where the hell they are. So I won't be playing this. And Archi, if you'd rather mod games than play them, then go mod a game. Remake dungeoneering or something. And for the record, I did as little railroading as I could with SoN. There was a plotline, I just let it sit there until you guys were going to get tired of running around NYC like lunatics.
  2. I have Call of Duty: MW4 - Reflex edition for the Wii, and some other edition my dad just got for the PC. Maybe he'll let me borrow it. Uhh... I kick srs butt as Ike on SSBB, but our wifi is psychotic and won't let me play SSBB against other people. Vix, you don't want to see my family's old "shared" game CD case. I'll still rifle through it every so often to play Roller Coaster Tycoon (because drowning just dwarves isn't enough), and I still cringe at some of the crap in there. Oh, and before Rocco and Earth get into a heated flame war: Please don't get into a heated flame war. Just agree to disagree. COEXIST, MAAAN. BE AT PEACE WITH THE TRE- *flicks elf off shoulder* If worst gets to worst, drown each other in magma. In other news, I have played WAY too much Dwarf Fortress.

Another new fortress started; it seems to be moving along rather well. Got a workshop hall and farm mined out, and working on a storeroom.
  4. MAZE OF BEEEEEEER Okay, now that I got that out of my system.... Looks like it could be a fun quest. Looking forward more to the updates later in the month, though. Dungeoneering part 1.75 and a new way to gain Void Knight favor points sound like a lot more continuous fun than a quest that could take (enjoyably) an hour, or more than that if it's got puzzles that are worse than EW3.

Gah. I accidentally crushed one of my miners in a cavein.... so I decided to have a little "fun" before I got a tantrum spiral. I caved in my WHOLE FORTRESS MWAHAHAHA. Everything either got squished or suffocated except 2 dwarves, who I then had take the picks from the dead miners' hands and cave themselves in as well. It was amusing watching them dig to their deaths. That's what I'm going to do next embark... just have them cave themselves in.

Drown him. Or release him and have your military remove him. My favorite alternative, though.... is MAGMA.
  7. Wow. That sucks. ...And I just realized that I have never personally witnessed death. Most of the people I know have, but oddly, I have not. Heck, even when both my dogs died they were far away from me... And nobody I know has died either. Weird. So I can't really say I understand what you're goin through.

see: Planepacked. Which has several images of itself carved into it.

Those all seem to be good things, Earth. Well, unless your blacksmith ends up making a steel guitar, embanded with gold, menacing with spikes of every gem you own. But even then, that thing will be worth a crapton of cash.

So two of my dwarves died to thirst (my idiot brewer decided to take a 2 season break), and now I ahve one dead mienr and one melancholy miner. This can't end well...

I flooded my fortress out of sheer boredom. And my lack of farm. Time to start ANOTHER new one...
  12. That's essentially what I got from my only elite, except I got firelighters instead of rune trimmed stuff and a staff.
  13. Actually, I captured the goblin with intent of getting a sidekick, and he ended up headbonking me when I got too close, then taking all my stuff and leaving me for dead. I then went and set fire to the nearest goblin village, then build a castle where the village had stood.

My fortresses usually only last 1 day irl, so I usually only ever get bookkeeper, broker, and military roles. If I ever get a noble, they will get a throne room that is suspended over magma. Because by the time I get nobles, I should have found some of that hot red stuff. Or I'll just atomsmash them.
  15. Or setting fire to goblins. Goblins are fun to set on fire.

My new fortress is coming along well, aside from my miners being unbelievably slow. Still waiting for them to mine out the shop area so I can actually start building stuff, get a military, etc.

Yeah; the main problem with that fort was that the flux materials were way too far into the ground. And now all the dwarves are going into a terminal hissy fit wheeee.

Note to self and anyone who needs it: Build a well-trained military BEFORE you delve down into a "expansive cavern." The trogdolytes and whatever else that is sure to follow may end up slaying half your dwarves otherwise. On a side note, I'm just messing around with this fortress now since I know I'm doomed. I have now killed the elf diplomat, and am soon going to kill the dwarven diplomat. Mwahaha.

I am currently tunneling around a few z-levels below my fort looking for flux material. The is some around here, I know it, I just can't find it... Edit: Found the flux, along with the cavern housing it. The cavern is also full of gems and spider webs... best train my military in case those spiders become hostile.

The traders I've seen recently haven't had anything I wanted. But for lols, I checked how much it would sell for, description, etc. It'd sell for 24k Dwarfbucks. It's only special because it has an image of an artifact from one of my previous forts carved into it. Oh the irony.

So one of my soldiers (who had previously been a smithy) got possessed. I see him run into the smithy, grab some iron bars, and think "Yay, something epic!" What does he make? An artifact ANVIL. Well.... not sure what to use THAT for...

The next migrant wave I get will be primarily converted into crossbowdwarves, unless they're highly skilled at what they do (and what they do is actually useful).
  23. Tech, adding all the numbers from 1 to 1000 isn't all THAT difficult. Just some basic calculus would solve it in ~5 minutes.

Bah. Looks Like Windows decided to go "wheee, going to self update during sleep mode" again. So I lost my fortress except from the last seasonal save, before my smithy went nuts. It's just not as fun without trying to overcome the obstacle of what actually happened, so I'm just going to make a new fort.

Last night, my smithy went into a fey mood and started demanding silk. I didn't have any, so I locked him in the workshop he had claimed until he went insane. Then, I sent in the military. However, I had forgotten that they all were armed with just wooden spears/crossbows.... 6 soldiers, the smithy, and his baby died. Note to self: Arm soldiers well before sending them to beat something up. Worst of all, it had been my 1 chance to get a useful artifact item. But no, the stupid dwarf just HAD to demand silk.
