  1. You guys might find this helpful. Street Price Calculator I made a little street price calculator. All you have to do is find out what the street price of an easter rgg is, and you'll get the rest of rares. I see people frequently asking, and because street price varies so much depending on the junk circulating in the market, it could at least give you an idea of the current street prices on items. I may add things like hooks and wergali unf soon, but their stability in relation to easters is still questionable.
  2. Yes, but to take that kind of inconvenience (of having to wait a few extra hours at most, while even being able to borrow the item) to the point where you would call it stealing, is where I disagree. And Soma basically explained it, we just have a different view on the definition and the context that it's being used, and that's how really this whole debate came about. We weren't going back and forth on exactly the same thing.
  3. I just agreed that a flipper is not necessary. But a buyer having to go through a flipper? No.
  4. Completely correct up to the bold, and then completely wrong, for reasons stated previously about 8 times that I can't be bothered to repeat at this point.
  5. I view it more as them giving money away. ;)
  6. Correction: Most are, but not all. No different than not caring about some random stranger at the supermarket, or anywhere for that matter. You can call me greedy, or a bad uncaring person or whatever, but do note I do try to help others out here - I mean I even went through the time to put a website to help others out. But again... I still don't view the whole art of flipping as stealing even with your view. I guess logic and reasoning works differently with different people. We both see the same general thing, but when it comes to fine details, we see differently. And yes I do understand you, but I guess now you understand me as well. ;)
  7. Then make the trade, in trade. No one is forcing anyone to use the GE. :P It is stupidly easy to make money doing nothing off the GE though. I can see why one would be upset over that. But I still disagree with the stealing and or negative impact part, as that is all up to the buyer, not the seller. If a flipper can sell high, so can somebody that is not a flipper. If a flipper can buy low, so can somebody that is not a flipper. Does it take time? If you're going to act like a few hours at most is a big deal then I can't help but to not feel sorry for you. No service, maybe true: but this is RuneScape we are talking about, where nothing matters in the end.
  8. God forbit a player on an mmo need to be a bit patient. And as far a middle price goes... very little patience is being asked of a buyer... because most flippers buy an item for a bit under mid, and resell it at or a bit above mid.
  9. Or... Buyer could just put in an offer for 10M and wait for the next seller. This is why I cannot, and will not ever view item flipping as stealing. No one is forcing anyone to be impatient with the GE. You could make the point that a flipper is now causing an inconvenience by making the buyer have to wait a bit longer... but when we're talking about putting an offer into the GE and waiting, how much of an inconvenience could that possibly be? It only becomes a real problem with clan manipulation, which has an entirely different effect on the market than do item flippers.
  10. Trading is a zero-sum game. For every 100K you make, someone else involved loses 100K. I don't know if it affects the system, it probably does on a much smaller scale. But you are taking from other players without giving them anything in return, that, in my opinion, is fairly negative. Yes, you've stated this point continuously, but if the layer is willing to lose 100k for the convenience of having something instantly, how are they being hurt? No one is forcing them to be impatient. That's all item flipping is... providing instant gratification for those that seek it and are willing to give up for it. It's not exactly a service, but it is something to take advantage of. By the way, I realize my comparison is a pretty bad one now that I think of it. The type of competition you find in the real market severely lacks in the GE. And then you have a lot of internal/external factors that you brought up, and then you have... real money, real stress, and not just pixels. :P Anyway, good topic to see the views these days. (I can at least agree that item is flipping a complete joke compared to what it once was - it's not even fair to compare them)
  11. It's absurd to think anything is wrong with this. How do you think online stock trading works? The only difference is the GE is free - the GE itself is a service, and should be charging for every transaction. And you know what, you're making it sound like the flipper is the scammer, but what about the buyers? They no longer have to search for a seller for hours, meet up in the same world, same location, and then make sure they aren't getting scammed either. There is no stealing going on here. When a buyer pays 200k of middle price, it's because they are willing to pay for the convenience of receiving that item instantly. No service my [wagon] - as if the buyer deserves any with the GE. As someone who's studied finance... don't even try arguing stocks. There's a lot more that goes into them than you think. But just a few reasons why your argument is terribly, terribly flawed - 1) Stocks don't come out of nowhere. They're a method of financing a business. 2) A significant part of stock valuation is based upon dividends. 3) Stocks also signify partial ownership of the company, which conveys benefits dependent on the company's policies. Finally, there's no looking for a buyer or seller either way. Thanks to something we call the "Grand Exchange". You may have studied finance, but I have actually traded stocks... and as a day-to-day flipper, the principle is still the same - profit at another's expense. Yes, in the long-term a lot of money can come from an investment return from a company, which is why the stock market works long term, but for day-to-day trading - your flipping against every other trader out there, so you might as well call that stealing as well. It's a get rich slow process, which is better than receiving long-term returns from 1,2,3 that you listed. Maybe I'm missing the point entirely as I don't indulge myself too much into as it's my parents money I work with, but that's the general impression I have received so far from online trading. And it's been good practice for when I start up myself in another year or two. :)

  13. You do realize that junk trading is completely optional? There are useful items you could buy with those rares (onyx ring, wergali unfinished potion, etc).
  14. If you sell the blue partyhat for a divine at least get a white partyhat back along with it.
  15. I have never ever used the good old 2-bit audio, so I could care less. :P
  16. I have a good computer, so... HD for me. If I had to resort back to SD I would not play, simple as that. SD looks like dog balls after having played HD for months.
  17. Survey number 1: Rarest non-wearable (higer). Cracker: 2 Half wine: 1 Comment: This is a complete guess Survey number 2: Rarest non-wearables (lower) Easter egg: 3 Pumpkin: 2 Disk: 1 Comment: Disk updates the slowest in the GE of the three. Survey number 3: Rarest partyhats. Blue partyhat: 1 White partyhat: 2 Red partyhat: 4 Yellow partyhat: 5 Green partyhat: 3 Purple partyhat: 6 Survey number 4: Rarest lower wearables Red h'ween mask: 1 Blue h'ween mask: 2 Green h'ween mask: 3 Santa: 9000 Comment: Santa shouldn't even be in the same rare's bracket as masks. Survey number 5: A mixture. Blue partyhat: 5 Cracker: 2 Wine: 1 Disk: 3 Pumpkin: 4
  18. Someone asked if partyhats were a good investment on the RSOF so I'll just re-post what I said: Partyhats are an AWFUL investment compared to edibles/disks right now. Why? 1) Edibles are updating in GE price at a rate now comparable to partyhats. Easter eggs are now even going up faster. 2) Edibles and disks take up much less cash, meaning you still have a ton of cash to merchant with. 3) Partyhats are once again are dipping in relation to edibles/disks. At least purple-red are. (Taking their average price over the past 30 days) Easter Egg: 30 Days: +34.5% of 50M = 17.25M Disk: 30 Days: +23.8% of 37.5M = 8.9M Pumpkin: 30 Days: +24.0% of 46M = 11M Purple Phat: 30 Days: +7.6% of 260M = 19.76M (versus 1x easter at 17.25M) Yellow Phat: 30 Days: +8.1% of 280M = 22.68M (versus 2x easter at 34.5M) Red Phat: 30 Days: +7.0% of 308M = 21.56M (versus 3x easter at 51.7M or 1x disk + 1x easter at 26.15M)
  19. We are finally seeing the long-term results of trade limits, and GE restrictions.
  20. I'm fine with mint cakes now as the player base seems to have developed sufficient faith to keep them afloat as a permanent street item. I'd much rather deal with mint cakes as opposed to crashing junk.
  21. Even if this hacker managed to break in Jagex's databases, all they would have is a bunch of user names along with some seriously encrypted passwords. I'm sure even the bank pins are encrypted.
  22. F2P used to be the game, years ago. These days, members is the game. I remember when I first got members right after RS2 was launched. There was a fair amount to do, but it just felt like a large expansion - comparable in size/content to F2P. I think back then there was maybe 4 members only skills? Today there are 9, with a few more having member only benefits. There many more quests, and the world map is ridiculously large. In comparison - F2P and P2P aren't even close anymore. Sorry F2P, but that's the cold hard truth you'll have to live with. :P
  23. Addy++ arrows are linked to weapon poison++, so whenever the poison++ are dumped, the arrows will fall.
  24. Eastern Lands have been speculated for years now. As much as I would like them to come out, I honestly wouldn't be surprised if they never will.
