If it really bothers you that much, take up a hobby in computer programming and learn to script yourself? That alone would open some career options if you enjoy doing that and become proficient in it. As far as RWT goes, the only ones who are really upset over it are those who are just JELLY they can't do it themselves. Because if they had a few thousand dollars worth of rsgp, they would do the same exact thing (when they're done with the game). Unless you're like 30+ and making an engineer, doctor, or lawyer salary - don't even lie and say you would not.

SSDs, while still expensive, have now fallen down into the affordable range. I could understand that argument 1-2 years when SSDs were not only outrageously priced, but also unreliable. If you can spend thoughtfully on your components, you can easily fit a SSD into the build, especially given a $1500-$2000 budget. With a few rebates and/or instant savings, the SSD is taken care of. I love my SSD. Do you know how many reboots one has to go through to fully tweak a good overclock? :P But even for the average user... it never made sense to go high end on all of your components of and then skimp on one leaving a potential bottleneck (whether it be the PSU, CPU, GPU, and now HD, and etc). But yeah, if the SSD seems like too much right now, just go for the standard mechanical drives and consider upgrading to a SSD later on. Keep watching the deals too. Two days ago Buy.com had some 100GB OCZ Vertex SSDs for $52 shipped! (Not sure if anything is wrong with those drives, but with a 3 year warranty you can't go wrong there) I also recommended the 2GB HD 6950s because even if they don't flash (which is like a 10% chance they don't right now) they're still GTX 570 performance for $50 less. It's a win-win situation.

I'm in for another 3 months. It's only costing me $35 and since I'm not really playing any other PC games right now and enjoying RIFT (now a level 29 rogue) I might as well. It's nice to be able to play a MMO and not be addicted to it. RIFT is fun but I don't find myself craving to play it at random times throughout the day (like I did occasionally with RS). By the way, for those considering upgrading for this, an i5-2500k made a huge difference for me. I don't lag anymore, period. Even at the boss invasions where there are like 100 people, it stays smooth.

1) Get a 2500k with a nice P67 motherboard and overclock it to 4.5GHz. A 2600k isn't worth the extra for gaming. 2) Get a SSD for your boot/os drive. 3) Look into 2GB HD 6950s - most flash to HD 6970s, for around $240-$250 each. Sorry NVDA fans, but AMD won this round.

I'm not trying to advocate RWT in any way, but her ambitions could have covered her retirement if she "converted" everything in put it all into a mutual fund, and just forgot about it for the next 30 years. When it comes to MMOs and the typical user addiction, I'd agree with you. I can't believe people are making comments about Pearl Harbor. You know what it is? It's a lame ass attempt at an excuse to be LAZY and DO NOTHING. I'm a rogue, level 15 here. Having a lot of fun on this game. It's nice to play a fresh release and not be 10 years behind everyone else. :)

Year eight comes for me in May. I caught the tail end of RS1... good times. I played from 2003-2005, and then again from 2009-2011, after I ran back into RS by accident and became addicted to the GE. I've now moved onto the stock market (the GE of IRL). :P (Edit: Same age as the OP here)

I might do something that is not buyable. I did herblore the first bonus weekend, and farming the second. But now that I am 99 in both of those and don't really care for the other buyables, I'll probably do something like agility.

I'm at a loss of words for what is going on. Reds are legitimately above 800M in the GE. Whites are pushing 1100M. They just keep going up! Literally if you sell you end having to pay a good 20M+ more an hour later (and struggle to do it as well). Like I considered the significant possibility of a panic buy scenario with everyone being cashed out but this is really going beyond what I ever expected. Also, BiJay, how do you know buy/sell is a bug? I do believe I remember seeing "limitless GE" in the poll.

I'm pretty sure this rebound just proved the absurd amount of cash merchants have. No more, "not enough cash available to support their current prices" because that just shot down with green going to min to max in a matter of 10 minutes, and yellow (a pretty common color) following later on. I wasn't expecting yellow to rebound that quickly... I need to update my signature now, because if you think the July 2009 to March 2010 was pretty good... wait til you see what I've ended up with now thanks to this panic sale. :D

Red is still hanging around near max ge. Tons are selling in the ge, which means ge price will rise. The rising ge will eventually force it below mid. You'll get a chance to buy the red back. Right now it's being supported by those who liquidated lowers and are trading up. Not sure how much of that is out there. Right now, it looks to me like the merchers still are selling and stockpiling cash, which I see as a downward indicator. Actually from what I've read, 5-10 seconds offers haven't filled yet on reds. So no, tons are not being sold right now. And they rising so fast because there are so many offers in. Sure they might crash again, but I really don't feel like competing with every single cashed out player come free trade. But for the record, reds are a very strong max atm. Might as well call it bought-out for the time being if slower snipe offers aren't filling.

Reds now take over 2 hours to buy max. (And from reports are getting stronger by the second) Either way though, when all is said and done, I absolutely will have a partyhat set. Right now I have a blue, white, and 2 reds. Tomorrow I'll either buy 2 more reds if they crash again, or 2 greens if they don't. At this point I'm not waiting. I'm just so happy to be done with possibly my biggest RS goal.

It's funny how while all of this has been happening, santa hats have remained stable around 60M (would have expected pure chaos everywhere in the rares market with partyhats crashing). But then again those did already fall 40%. If green becomes buyable in the GE, I'm definitely taking one. :)

I don't expect anyone to care what I do in the wilderness, nor do I care what they do. And for the record, I was a RS1 prayer beast pker (lost that account), and early RS2 mage tank pker before I became a verac's staker in 2005. That was the last year I played before I began playing again in 2009. I treated it like a FFA back then (which it was outside of the DMs) and I will continue to do that. I'm not going to not pray just so some kid has the chance to KO me with some lucky AGS combo.

Then let them whine. I will most definitely pray and "safe" when the old wilderness returns. Why would I care what those non-contributing zeros think about how I play? It's a game. And the wilderness is a free-for-all. You want rules? Go to the dueling arena. :rolleyes:

I was originally a 70-50-70 Verac staker, and yes you pretty much destroyed anyone your own combat level, except for other Verac stakers. But you're right in that the wages were never anything really special. Now that I've trained a bit in the GE era and can no longer be that type of staker... I'm going for 90-75-90 with 99 magic and ranged. I have 60 prayer at the moment as well. I'm not sure what I should do with that the moment, so I'm just leaving it as it is. :)

Definitely a panic of junk. All junk is basically worthless now. There's no 50% cash-back guarantee at the end now, as we have no idea when free trade is coming. Nobody wants to be holding any amount of junk because it could go from being worth half GE value to nothing overnight. Players are now doing whatever they must to get rid of it. What we're seeing is partyhats now approaching true value, as you might as well consider the junk a 100% loss in trade. But still, I believe there is a possibility that purple may drop to GE value and below if things get bad enough (purely due to all the panic). Yellow could go either way, and green and higher are very safe IMO. When the dust settles after the update I predict the following stable prices: Purple: 625M Yellow: 675M Green: 750M Red: 900M White: 1100M Blue: 1500M

I absolutely love the GE. I don't have to spend hours in W2 buying and selling things to make a profit anymore. I can basically play the game and still be a part-time merchant without spending 12 hours a day online thanks to the GE. And the quest items - yes it is a huge time saver in that one. All in all, time = money, and the GE saves a ton of time. :thumbsup:
