  1. That's precisely why we're contacting the authority on the matter. And to add to that: when it was met with user disapproval, we went to contact Jagex via the connections granted to fansites so that we can provide an email to our users for their perusal.
  2. Believe us, you don't want to know the real meaning of it EDIT: Oh hey my signature is gone. Ah...fair enough. >_>
  3. When this thread was originally created, it held great promise for discussing ethics of two very important issues in today's culture: trust trading and player mods. And while there are a lot of times this particular topic pops up, it always serves as an interesting (albeit brief) discussion. Unfortunately, through a few poorly shaded out pictures, the identity of who the topic creator was talking about was revealed, and the 'injured party' in this case understandably came to defend itself. The problem is that this thread has now been so derailed that it's really past salvaging, and butchering the thread and removing these posts will serve no purpose. I'm going to lock this thread but I would like to stress that anyone is welcome to recreate a topic to discuss what this topic originally attempted to: the ethics of trust trading things like dicing, player mods, and so on. But continuing this argument, naming names, and the like will not be tolerated. I'll be in contact with the two conflicted parties as well as sending out a few reminders to a few users on the rules. :) For now, this topic will be locked.
  4. I did not say the requirements were simple. I did, however, imply they were more than adequate for the most outrageous, amazing, and most useful cape in the game. If that cape was more easily obtainable and those same perks remained, it would be waaaaaaaaaaay overpowered and would simply end up getting nerfed anyway. So do you want it easy to obtain? Do you really want it to be yet another worthless item in the game? The choice is pretty easy for me... Skillers have 16 skills to get to 99. 13mil exp each. A lot of those skills with barely over 50k exp per hour gains. Almost all combat skills have the potential to be close to 100k exp per hour (if not more), with possibly the exception of prayer. Both aspects of the game have HUGE price tags associated with them. And this isn't even counting Dungeoneering, which has amazing perks for both skillers and combat lovers, though admittedly it is mostly accommodating to combat. So how exactly does that translate to combat lovers being 'disadvantaged'?
  5. They have some combat stats associated with them but for your everyday training needs they are largely just a cosmetic novelty item. You can follow the links to the items that this section of the chest stocks here. They'll show you each item's stats.
  6. Why does such a shockingly good cape have to be simple to obtain simply because we want it for combat buffs? It has amazing perks for both combat lovers and skillers, and it's outrageously difficult for either party to obtain. I don't understand anyone who professes a love of combat feels they should be the exception to this.
  7. That should be a smiley face. No lie.
  8. The truth of the matter is that even if we had this email, what would have happened is that these links would have still been removed in the meantime while communication was maintained with TEF admins as an attempt to be more proactive in our moderation style, which many experienced super moderators have been urging we adapt to. You can see that this is not a very different than the approach we've taken now. Yes, it might be seen as a shortcoming that we did not have an email for you. You might not like that at all. And you might not believe someone, because at this point being so embroiled in conflict there's no reason for either party to trust the other. But believe it or not, there are people on this staff with integrity and pride, and we wouldn't be taking action on a communication that didn't exist.
  9. From what I was told from administration, it was informal and that how exactly is being kept private to protect the person's privacy. I'm personally assuming something like a quickchat room, or a text message, etc. That's what we were told. Though the prospect of it being via donkey is amusing... That is a very common complaint we receive, but the thing is going 100% all out like disclosing user infraction details and the like are not only unfair to the users but it's a road we don't want to take. It's actually why the images we used to have replacing sigs were done away with--it's not fair to do a naming-and-shaming sort of thing. The discussion gets brought up maybe once every few months of what we can do to be more open. I think the recent Administrator/Moderator spotlight done some 5 months past was the latest compromise. What would you guys like to see? I can't promise we can do all of it, but at least it can be brought up again. EDIT: Can someone please tell Grimy I've PM'd him on TEF? Thanks! :D
  10. Yet you have failed to post it for 5 pages Because we couldn't, from my understanding it was done via informal communication, hence why we're trying to get a more official email response from Jagex to show for you guys here. :P
  11. Okay, that's all I wanted to hear. Thanks! You had a brief 3 day temp ban that was later reviewed by the administration and removed from your account, it didn't even last the entirety of the duration. I would think that's proof of a proper system of checks and balances in action rather than some power hungry gestapo you imagine the staff to be. :P No, I'm only going off of what I heard. If that seemed as if an action of attempting to tarnish you, I apologize. It's just that I had madesimilar statements expressing my concerns and they weren't addressed. I thought the worst, which is natural considering the climate we have to work with between us. Well, we did and it was addressed at a length in this post. We're still awaiting a more formal reply to share with you all, hopefully on monday, but we did receive from Jagex staff that the scripts were against the rules. :)
  12. So if I register on your forums as a regular person, which I've been longing to do ever since you chose to close your boards to guests, I will not be banned? You won't assume every sort of issue than anyone else might find out is because of me? If so, I'd happily join your boards and speak with you via PM to hear your ideas. It's a bit ridiculous, but if you feel that unsafe about communicating on these boards--which you shouldn't--then I will try to accommodate you. And for the record, most of the moderators you assumed to take action against you haven't been the ones to do so. I know you might not like a lot of moderators here, which is bound to happen, but making baseless accusations will not be tolerated on these boards.
  13. Okay, that's good feedback (EDIT: I'm serious, that is helpful.). What would you rather see the moderation staff do when handling multiple rule-breaking posts at once? If I recall the posts that were removed on another thread that had nothing to do with the issues being presented here were removed because they didn't contribute to the topic, and instead chose to insult moderation staff members and crew alike. There are some people posting in that thread who had a few casual posts removed, but then later reposted with more elaborated points which make them completely reasonable--we appreciate that sort of effort. :)
  14. There are tons of things that are still not included in the updates or patch notes that the Hidden Updates sticky serves a strong purpose in remaining the way it is. On the other hand I personally can't remember a point where the Missing Persons thread worked even when it was stickied. That's just my personal opinion though, I'm sure there are others who will probably agree with you.
  15. If we're going to get into each and every moderator's personal preference of advertisements, not only will it get us nowhere we'll have a whole lot of crap on a page that will make this look like a We-pay-we-say RSOF thread. :geek: These in-between times for policy revision always suck. They suck for the user because it's an unfair time period while the staff gets their crap together and works out a better policy. They suck for the staff because it takes forever to get everyone's feedback, especially like now when finals are still going on for a lot of people, while trying to work with understandably frustrated users in the meantime. But this policy will get ironed out, whether it be for/against/whatever. And hopefully that will be sooner than later. (Say 'understandably frustrated user' 5 times fast. I can't. I think I need sleep.)
  16. O U EDIT: So anyway, to elaborate on the date thing: I went out with this girl today that I had gone on a date with last week. We basically just had lunch and walked around for a bit, talking, and we went to this bar in the area and had a beer (which she paid for, saying she owed me a birthday present). We then walked around a while longer, and she asked me to visit her at work tonight (she works at a restaurant) so that's likely where I'll be. She may get off early, in which case I may hang out with her afterwards. I'll have a house to myself tonight, too, so the stars may align in my favor. Good times. That actually sounds very charming! Looks like you've got a good night for yourself. Good for you :P EDIT: Obligatory 'wrapping and tapping' comment goes here.
  17. Again, that is why it is being discussed. As mentioned before the issue with the TEF blocked links is hopefully just a small temporary one. And again, if you see a link that fits what you explained in the meantime that a moderator hasn't spotted (which will probably pop up overnight as ESTers are getting ready for bed and GMTers are sleeping) you can report it and action will be taken that way. I'm personally going to head offline shortly myself, I've had a long day.
  18. Part of that is still being discussed per the feedback in this thread (although the topic is more broad to address all RS rule breaking issues) but we are still actively removing such things from our site at the very least, and any link that happens to be reported with verifiable issues. E: lol spelling I suck
  19. It takes time for a pigeon to make a roundtrip flight Not as fast as an African Swallow, however. EDIT: Derp I can't even quote movies right lol.
  20. What's the advantage of Swiftkit over browser + wikia + Mibbit? Swiftkit has a massive amount of tools built into it which generally makes playing much easier. I prefer to run one thing then have 6 things running. I kind of disagree because if you find an IRC channel with RuneScript in it, it can do most, if not all, of the same major functions, like stat lookup, item descripts, clue help, etc. I personally view Swiftkit as a resource hog, despite its progress from its old, clunkier SwiftSwitch versions. The references it has to guides are nice but I get the same effect by opening up another window or tab, with less drain. Though I'll admit this is mainly an issue on older computers, like the ones I have (unfortunately). The better your computer is, the more swiftkit will start to grow in appeal, I suppose. But I'm a stick in the mud and find it hard to switch from chrome/ff4.0 & mIRC.
  21. Realistically, yes.
  22. It only requires 98 range to wield, so I guess if you have a friend with 99 slayer who kills the Soulgazer and he gives it to you, that could work...but with hexes being so rare I doubt that's a very realistic scenario for you. EDIT: This is going off the assumption that what's on both RSwiki and tipit is correct in saying that 98 range is the only requirement. I personally have neither 98 range nor 99 slayer to verify this myself. EDITEDIT: This might pertain to you: According to RSwiki.

I dislike that today is Friday the 13th. I dislike waiting to hear how my dad's court case is going. I dislike this lingering headache I've had since yesterday's migraine. I dislike today. /whinyrant
