That sounds interesting, I will have to try that as I've had the problem you detailed... That's what has been turning me off using Ubuntu, and now I may just come back :P

I personally at one stage a few years ago had a pentium 4 and made the move from Integrated graphics to an AGP card and it worked wonders for those smaller, less intensive games. Definitely a big difference! The Pentium 4 CPU itself would clearly be a bottleneck, but in most cases it will still be playable.

There is absolutely no point in getting angry about this banner. It's like a marker plant. If that's what you really want in life then I don't know, you have fun with that. I agree with you completely, people lately are getting extremely over dramatic over the smallest things. If Jagex wants to thank people for coming then so be it; after all, it is their game and it is their event.

If the computer is 5 years old it's pretty unlikely that it has PCI-express, which is the standard bus used nowadays, but not back then. You need to pick up a decent AGP graphics card. If you're unsure what bus you have, check using a hardware information application. If you have AGP (the standard used with most pentium 4 computers) you cannot fit a 9600 or 9800 in your computer, it's like plugging a USB into an audio jack. I suggest an AGP ATI 4670 or anything in the 4000s series. That should give you great performance. :) If you have any other questions just ask.

I love IPB, but if it ever came down to prices it would be SMF. I love the way you can install plugins so easily. Don't know why MyBB isn't on this list, either! It's great!!

Depending on your level, it could be anything from 300-500 Coal per hour, or maybe higher. It all depends on speed, level and how many people are in the Guild at the time. Good luck!

It doesn't really affect me too much since I'm not much of a combat goer, but I'm sure it has changed the landscape of combat much more than any previous update they've made. 1. Constitution - does that even make sense to anyone without using a dictionary? Or is it just a rip off other MMO's? 2. Jagex sounded like babies with "zeroes are boring". I'm just sayin'. :P

Love playing in HD, really captures the atmosphere of the game. I used to use Standard Detail frequently on my older computer like 7 months ago which was a Pentium 4 with no GPU, but now that I've custom built my own gaming machine, I don't see why not. HD is awesome! Although full-screen is a little annoying, especially on Windows 7

Woodcutting back in the good old days (2005). When we used to actually chop wood for the stat, now you just hack over a few leaves and viola, 99! :P

Yeah, I'd really like to see this video, hopefully someone can upload it somewhere Jagex won't create a lawsuit out of. (They seem to be enjoying themselves with their lawsuits on all different things as of late!)

I used a Dragon Pickaxe to 99 mining and used Rune for a while just to see the difference and it's a pretty big margin between the two. I think it's worth it in the end if you're doing Concentrated Gold or Runite ores. Anything other than that and a rune pickaxe should do you just fine.

I think it's a great thing that a lot of old usernames are available now. Only problem now is that all my friends have adamantly decided they wanted 3-lettered-names. Hard to tell them apart as of now. :P

Have you entered your BIOS setup when you start up the computer and selected for the main graphics adaptor to be from the PCI-E bus instead of the onboard graphics? This may well be your problem. It is also wise to uninstall your onboard drivers before proceeding with the install of the PCI-E GPU.

Friend of mine had a Coolermaster Extreme Power PSU and it died on him and killed off his 9800GT in the process. The PSU is the part of the computer where you least want to cheap out on, it supplies your whole computer with power so it is a priority. Go with Corsair or if you don't have the money, try an OCZ PSU. They have a great warranty policy and are a very trusted brand. :) As for the other things, I personally have a Phenom II x3 720 and I love it. Don't listen to anyone who tells you you should get a quad core because you don't need it. That x3 chip has exceptional performance and is a good overclocker as well. I know as well from experience that some motherboards are a bit picky with G.Skill RAM, try corsair maybe? That's all I can suggest really. :P Good luck on your build!

99 Hunter is a respectable skill to have if you haven't botted it of course. I think you should just shrug it off because you have earned that cape and your skill and you know it yourself. Anyone who calls you a bot has probably been exposed way too much to the botting world or has done it before. I do agree though that botters are making us look bad especially since there are more and more ways to do it now, and it's so widespread but as you said; just because many people do it, doesn't mean that it's okay!
-
I agree, skill capes have a bit too much hype attached to them - Jagex intended for them to be a motivation or an incentive to max out in a skill but have turned ugly. It's almost like the game could be described within a simple sentence; "Whoever has the most capes wins". And sadly, I don't think that there's much you can do about it, it's our competitive nature's own fault. :(

What it seems like it's done here is it has messed up your file associations for [Caution: Executable File] files. I did a brief google search for your problem and this article is speacialised for vista and will most likely fix your problem. Best of luck! http://www.winhelponline.com/articles/165/1/Restore-the-exe-file-association-in-Windows-Vista-after-incorrectly-associating-it-with-another-application.html

When Google Chrome 4 BETA was released at first, I used that for a long time but got over it rather quickly due to some rendering issues with websites that I use pretty frequently and other compatibility issues. I still love my Firefox, you can always count on it and it's never failed me. :) Firefox ftw!

INTRODUCTION: Hey guys! This is my goals and achievements thread in which I'll try to keep record of all progress that I make to my RuneScape goals. Enjoy the read and feel free to comment/support! <3 UPDATES: Mining Week! [October 11th, 2009]: Well, the moment of truth has arrived! Skiller's Empire is holding the official Mining Week and I need to gain some serious XP! Hoping for 80 by the end of the week, but we'll see how it goes... 99 Thieving Abandoned [October 10th, 2009]: After spending quite a majority of my week doing Thieving, I have concluded that at this point in time, 99 Thieving is the worst possible thing to feed my attention span. Maybe sometime in the future me and the Plunder Mummy will meet again... [update] Colour Scheme Changed! [October 3rd, 2009]: I was in a bit of a freaky mood earlier, so I changed a few aspects of my log. One of the things that will stand out the most from the changes would be the colour of the layout. Since the skin of the forum was dark blue; I needed some brighter text for headings as opposed to a shade of blue that was hard to read and notice. [update] Sorting Achievements [september 15th, 2009]: I have now decided to sort my achievements by their month rather than day, this just makes it a lot easier for me to sort them out in the long run. Even though AVG and other free alternatives are great, I decided to step away from the crowd and use something new! There's an antivirus that's been released by microsoft, and it's free as well. From my experience.. It's awesome, would recommend it to anyone :)
