What is up with Jagex's aversion to high level armors that don't degrade? They need a different mechanic at the very least.

So at Jagex, the updates that should alter the game forever they make every attempt to make sure it doesn't, but the run of the mill ones that shouldn't end up changing the game forever do so anyway? :blink:

Well now it may not seem like such a great idea but they did mention that this will be the first of many seasonal updates. Once they take it out of the game it's not gone forever, it'll be back next year. The way I see it is, it's guaranteed content to look forward to. This time next year we can all look forward to three or four more regular game updates PLUS the Hati wolf PLUS whatever other seasonal content may be out at the time. So I do see this benefiting us in the future. Either that or it will end up like all of the holiday updates, no one wants them but we do them anyway. Plus, if they have it every year, then they could omit an update week like every two months which means overall they'd be doing less content. That is totally in line with the Jagex philosophy. :thumbup:

Am I the only one here that thinks Jagex is missing the mark here with what quest chains people want to see being done? I think the Dwarf chain has been pushed too much lately and with less than stellar results. People only care about the Dragon Pick anyway.

What's the plot then? Who's the Dwarven King?

Sounds like alot of the minigames we already have...only it's in varrock... Not so much, most of them are PVP or non combat all together. Also, it could be done in varying ways so it changes often. No point is discussing it as most bitter players don't consider anything outside of what they enjoy.

What stops you from doing that? Oh, you are too much of a wuss to try and pk in a dangerous situation. And yeah, green, the competence(or, rather, incompetence) of jagex would also be a major problem. I really don't think you know what my PK abilities or preferences are so let's just not discuss things we don't know about, alright? Point is it would be fun for it to be instanced so that is need not involve the general population, even on a PVP server. And I said "gang fight" because it would be between the rival gangs. So, please tell me the difference between a war of two clans on a pvp server in varrok and what you are suggesting? That it's safe? There have been bronze/etc wars before, nothing stops you from organizing one. Also, Gava, i don't see what's wrong with being conservative. Why does every MMORPG need to be a hybrid/mirror image of one another? Can't we have something....original? Be more like an activity. It wouldn't just be players, but NPCs as well with objectives to try and accomplish, not just dropping in some monsters in a city or a bunch of people piling around hitting each other.

Green is right. Frankly, the hissyfits that the Scapers have after every update is much more entertaining. :thumbup:

Yes, some instanced areas would be fun. Who wouldn't want a gigantic gang fight in the streets of Varrock?

I think maybe a server or two for this kind of thing might not be a bad idea, but on the whole, I wouldn't force it on someone. :oops:

First of all, it's Madam. Secondly, as I said in my first post, my question was prompted by the commercials they'ved been playing. That was how I found out it was f2p. The commercial isn't a year old. Personally, I would hope that games like this going f2p would cause Jagex to step up their game.

With technology being as cheap as it is these days as well as affordable plans offered by most ISPs nowadays I'd question how large of a userbase actually still uses libraries as their only way of playing. It certainly helps build RS' popularity, sure. I'd certainly agree it helps with the RS base. These days, the people at libraries are mostly playing Zynga games... and they're homeless.

Yes, I suppose. On another matter, how much impact do you think the fact that Runescape doesn't require a download and installation to play the game. I know for a fact that many online game can't be played at libraries, aka child gameplaying mecca, from playing them.

If you are like me, you've probably seen the commercials of Lord of The Rings Online going f2p, or a good portion doing so. So, I'm curious what people might think the impact on Runescape. It's not likely to have much economic impact on them or on their membership, but I'm hoping that the competition makes them step up what I think has been their lackluster performance over the past 2 years.
