Yep, shades are basically the waterfiends of Daemonheim, only more annoying. IIRC, their blue attack is magic and their yellow-green attack is magical-ranged. In a rush, I have 0 armor. So that leaves me with 0 magic and 0 ranged defence. I think deflect magic would help better though slightly, but I'm not 100% sure.

Looking at Grimy's spreedsheets for Prestige 47, the max xp/hr is obtained doing larges starting at F31, meaning doing the lowest 16 floors as a large and anything higher as a c1 small. I know you're not 47 prestige and I might not be able to extrapolate optimal XP/hr from your level accurately, but I would say do the lowest 10-15 floors you can do as a large and anything higher as a c1 small.

I'm looking for some clarification on how these attacks work without protection prayers. From what I've heard, your total defence from a magical melee attack is 70% of magic level * magic defence + 30% of defence level * melee defence Likewise, inherent defence from a magical ranged attack is 70% of magic level * magic defence + 30% of defence level * ranged defence. Is this correct? Let's say I'm up against a lvl 133 mysterious shade, which attacks with both magic and magical ranged with equal frequency. Would deflect mage be the better curse to use, as I have less magic def than range def?

Qeltar did a test that showed that the SS is superior by a small margin.

Cleaning herbs can be quite fast, 100k+ xp/hr, while letting you break even or even profit. For 73-80 herblore I exclusively cleaned lantadyme and made unf pots, making about 50-60m profit (you can probably only break even with today's prices though.) Iwas able to use this to train to 88 herblore and now I have about 500 superantifire, 1.2k ext atk/str, and 400 ext range (all 4 dose) And 81-85 is about 1M xp. Herblore is around 30gp/xp if you buy unfs+seconds, so it's nowhere near the 50-150m you said it would be.

DFS is outclassed by defender except in wyverns. Even there, it's not strictly necessary. SGS should not even come across your mind. I suggest to get 87 herblore to stew for extreme range and for EEE. Dclaws gets you more DPS, but not as much as a chaotic rapier. You should get it after 95 prayer/85 herblore. Leveling summoning comes naturally as you train slayer, so 88 will come in due time

Just stew from 80. As good as super antifires are, they're not worth breaking your bank. You would only need around 2-300 super antifire (4) to be set for 99 slayer.

The poltergeist puzzle. Needs herblore and thieving, so F2P can't clear it. And since we're on the subject of dungeoneering, there's this myth going on about the monolith room that the lower your magic level when you activate it, the lower leveled the shades are. Frankly, I think that is complete nonsense and that the shade's levels are randomized to an extent.

Assuming bones are bought at med price and you can do 1.5k bones/hr with gilded altar/pack yak/ring of duelings, also ignoring other costs Dbones=5540gp, 252 xp Fdbones=17900gp, 640 xp 1 hour of altaring with Fdbones is 960k prayer xp, costing 26.85m To get 960k xp from dbones, it will take 2.54 hours, costing 21.2m You save 1.54 hours with fdbones over dbones at an additional cost of 5.65m So if you value your time at ~3.67m, you should train with frost dragon bones. I went with ourg bones to 95 prayer BTW, since fdbones have a 1k volume limit on the GE while the other bones have 10k.

It's probably the same DPS, all other things being equal, but blazer uses less runes.

Not sure but maul can hit 700+ on task. I'm starting to have seconds thoughts on getting the maul, since the SS is 50% faster. In general, I prize speed over accuracy and strength, so I'm wondering if anyone has done any conclusive testing comparing the 2 weapons there?

Anyone have an idea of DPS of maul vs SS against waterfiends?

I'm getting CM as my second chaotic mainly for waterfiends, but I would love to slay wyverns with them too. I think someone mentioned earlier in this thread that it's possible with unicorn and soul split?

Combat wise, Ardougne Cloak 3, SW Cape, Fire cape, Accumulator, and God cape all outclass the skill capes in one way or another. Yet I still see many of them when I'm training slayer. Sure, there's the chance that these players are being unintentionally inefficient, but I think most of them want to be acknowledged for their 99. Personally, I don't compliment people's skill capes, but I don't disparage them either. Although I do cringe when I see a pure with d claws and an untrimmed hunter or mining cape <_<

Powermining is like, 35k/hr? You'd have to value your time at around 1.1m/hr to powermine over banking at the resource dungeon, which is nearly impossible to make in F2P.

I looked up that model's video card and it looks like it has a Intel GMA 4500MHD. Integrated cards perform very poorly so that would explain the bad FPS. The next best way to improve FPS would be to minimize number of running application/processes: If you're running Vista, there's a good program called PC Decrapifier that works really well for that

Ok, so I'll ditch the tort. Any idea how many feather/hr without a yak? I plan on making about 3.5k super antifire (3) then decanting them. Is that too many for slayer?

If you're on a desktop, you should upgrade your video card to one that supports DX10/11 If you're on a notebook/then unfortunately you're stuck on that FPS, short of buying a new one. If anyone's wondering, I have a HD Radeon 4830 and I always get 50 FPS in Direct X Mode, max settings.

I know there are several ways to get to the desert pheonix, but what is the absolute fastest? And how many feathers/hr can I expect with 99 thieving, war tortoise, gloves of silence, and ardougne cloak 3?
