Trollbomber's Blog To Completionist - Max Cape Achieved
Managed to get another good herb run in, for a new record as well. I even had 1 plot die this trip. Got this little number tonight. Managed a 24 hr d pick lend from a friend, so even though I don't want to, I'll probably camp down here for at least another level tonight. Been grinding out most of my slow unbuyables lately with the exception of crafting air bstaves in between when they come in (by the way, message me if you have any you'd like to sell, I'll buy 9000 ea)

levine1996 maxing out 100% F2P
To be honest with you, when I first saw your thread I thought it was a joke. It's easy to make big goals and watch them fall flat when you realize how much you've really got on your plate. I'm going for the max cape as a member and it's hard enough. You've definitely got a lot more work to do than me. However, after reading through your posts, you definitely have a strong sense of dedication and discipline down, which is crucial. Making miniature goals instead of saying "well time to grind out 99 wc, then 99 fish, ect" is what is going to keep you motivated. You've accomplished a lot more during f2p than I did before I became a member, so I think you might really have what it takes. Remember not to take it to hard on yourself. Realize that you have a very long road ahead of you with slow xp rates, so it's going to take a lot of time. So long as you play efficiently, you'll be gaining xp in no time. If there's any advice I could give you, it would be to try and start off by raising all stats to the same level, then slowly, from there, leveling each skill one a time so they stay together. This is definitely going to give you the break you need between skills so you don't get burnt out on one thing, plus give you a variation in xp/hr when training, that way you don't feel like you're accomplishing nothing with that low runecrafting xp/hr rate, ect. Anyway, best of luck to you man. It is most definitely a hell of an accomplishment, especially for f2p.

Thanks. Yeah I haven't had to opportunity to do 100s of runs yet, so maybe I'll get that lucky someday.

Wow... That is insane luck there on that elite. Not selling that takes some major discipline...

Road to Max Cape
Yeah I meant arctic pines instead of teaks sorry. I'll probably just stick with the fm effigy combo after I reach that point and burn yews/mages in between. Im approx 500k from 98 mage, so I have a feeling I'll end up finishing on magic pretty quickly throughout livid farm (if not completely) and at mining for sure. Chances are I'll end up doing the rest of Livid Farm but only using remote farming while at ZMI. EDIT: Also, iirc addy bolts have been nerfed as of recently, so what new "efficient" method are others using? I know quite a few people are still doing broad arrows, but the cost seems a bit high. I'll do them if necessary, just wanted to check first.

Road to Max Cape
What exactly do you mean about making ~400k/day extra from remote farming? Just being able to tell when a torstol is about to die? Money isn't too bad of an issue at the moment, so I will probably stick with air bstaves for the time being. I bought ~37k oak planks already for 85 construction, and am considering doing those until 99 (minus effigies/assists ofc) because they seem fairly cheaper and mahog tables which I did to 74. I don't have a problem with paying a bit more attention on certain tasks. I am a bit burnt out on granite so I switched over to coal in the lrc until gold. I'm assuming the skill trio after that point would be pretty efficient still? I've got 85 firemaking banked with 10.5k yews, using the pyrefiend method I found out about a few days ago. Is it really that worth it to get the adze before starting hardcore teaks or does it matter? If so I'll get it.

Road to Max Cape
Why water bstaves? I thought air were more xp, so that's what I've been doing. I'm not filthy rich, but I would say with torstol runs, zmi, and MTK combined, I average 2-3M profit per day. It's nothing spectacular but it adds up over time. I considered doing crawlers for range, just wasn't sure on the costs and how consistent effigies were.

Road to Max Cape
After lots of thought, I am looking into trying to get a max cape within the next year. I understand that I've got a lot of playtime left and many levels to obtain, but was wanting to gather some ideas and optimal training methods for different skills, as well as what order to train them (if it even makes a big difference). Currently I am trying to get all skills to 85+ (preferably in the next month) just to have a good base setup, then I'll be starting any advice from there. Other info: I am currently farming torstols (approx. 5-6 runs a day) as well doing MTK for my main source of income. I have 92 effigies banked from 99 slayer, and plan on opening them all up myself of course. Open to any advice on which would be the better skill to choose during the combos. Chances are I will be using lamps on rc for sure, so I may not be opening many/any stages with that skill. So, as said before, and tips on an order to level my skills, viable training methods, or any other helpful advice you all may have to offer would be greatly appreciated. I am looking into trying to have the cape by May 2012 if at all possible. I don't believe that goal seems to unreasonable, so we'll see. Thank you all in advance!

Giant Rocks falling from the sky
Edgeville as well. Mod Slayer is at that one in my world, but not talking of course.

Money Making?
Do herb runs (snaps). If/when you can afford lots of tree seeds and begin doing tree runs, do so to get 85 asap. Also work on getting juju farming pots. They sound like a hassle when you don't have them, but 1 ugene seed (which you'll get pretty fast from commons @ 70 hunt) can give you 5-6 herbs at worst, which is still 15-18 herb runs. I'm currently at 90ish juju pots which didn't take much time, and probably won't need to make anymore for quite a while. Invest in MTK, and do your dailies (such as buying battlestaves, ect) as well, and your money will begin to flow in pretty quickly. 91 Runecrafting for double nats really isn't special at all anymore. Honestly if you're going to rc then just do ZMI as it still profits over time (profits more the higher your lvl) and use all lamps/peng pts/ect on it in your free time.

Addicted To Runescape
After I discovered how to play more efficiently I began to play much more, and this is where I began to realize that I'm addicted. I don't deny that I'm addicted, I've RS for a long time, and probably will continue to. I logged approx 50 days of gameplay on my first main account. After "quitting" and hoping that a helping out a friend by allowing him to change my pass could be the answer to me quitting, I just started back up on my lvl 40 f2p range pure with like 200 total. A couple years later here I am. My current account with 115 days of gameplay has surpassed my old one by far, and I don't have any intentions of stopping. I enjoy the game too much. The thought of "maxing" my character always seem like a joke I would never go after in my life, but the more I play, the more I realize that may end up being the reality. After finishing 99 slayer (which I didn't ever think would happen) my friends asked what was next. I jokinly said maxing total, but the more I play the more I think I might. So to answer your question, yes I am addicted. At times I think it sucks, but when I think about it, I enjoy the game so I don't see it as a bad thing. I am still going to school, and don't let RS get in the way of that. I let my girlfriend, friends, and family keep me grounded I guess you could say. I don't say no to people when they want to spend time with me, because I don't wanna look back later in life and regret never having spent anytime with anyone. It's good to have people that will "ground" you and help keep you away from the computer at times. Makes me really appreciate what else goes on in life aside from RS. Like a lot of people though, I just RS to vill a void in my life. A big void lol.

Dungeonsweepers (DGS) - Huge changes; read first post.
Quick question: What is a good way to start off a dung? I'm talking about the first 15-30 seconds. I really don't have a set plan down, but want to get an idea of what DGS expects from the beginning.

200M in all Skills
Why? Does anyone know what the most efficient aura is right now that you can choose (especially with today's discount)?

Random white screen of death
More and more lately, I am getting a WSOD when playing runescape. My entire screen just goes white, with no error message or anything on the page. For some reason, it's happening mostly at ZMI on W70 when I go there, and in particular on the run back up to go down the ladder. It just seems odd that this is happening consistently at one spot in the game... It's very frustrating and I don't know what can be causing it. Any help or ideas to fix the problem would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

C2 Fishing
When you mention alching, do you only use low alch? Doesn't high alch prevent you from fishing for a few ticks?

Extreme Potions Boosting/Amounts etc..
I made untradables as my main source of xp. I didn't make 5k super attacks and nothing else or w/e, but I made quite a few of each (including 5k super antifires, and 1k special restores :D). They come in handy, especially during slayer. It's always nice to have a stash of extreme pots too. Plus, you can just use them for overloads later.

When is barb horn worth it?
Awesome, thank you.

High-level money making
I tend to get burnt out when I grind one particular money maker for such a long time, so I usually mix it up and that treats me pretty well. Torstol with SOL and jujus is incredible. I understand how it can seem frustrating to start doing something (in your case, herb runs), but after you do, you'll be glad you did. Took me forever to take the time to collect juju farm pots, and go on my tree runs because they seem too much of a hassle. However now that I've done it, and I can see how good the profits are, I wish I would have done it earlier. Sometimes I do nooby money makers as well. Yesterday I got bored so I picked fungi for 2-3 hours and sold about 2k fungi for 2.2M. Sure, it's not the greatest money ever, but I try to keep myself busy instead of just sitting in a bank thinking of what to do next. I also chop mahogs in my free time when I afk, so I used a bunch of special logs to make about 500 free planks. free 1M. Just find little things like that, plus MTK and your dailies, and money will fly in pretty fast.

Extreme Potions Boosting/Amounts etc..
When I did herb (warning: not most efficient way), I did antifires to 81, sara brews to 83, greenman ale (m) boost to 85 for super antifires. Did these till 86 where I greenman ale (m) boosted to 88 for extreme attacks, another (m) boost at 87 to make extreme strengths, and finally another boost at 88 to make extreme defence. Honestly, the way I handle herb really wasn't too bad. I didn't spent all that much money on it, and it didn't seem too bad to me. I valued my sanity more than my money when I did herb. I've never had good luck with stews, and after 30 stews, still never got a +5 or +6 boost, so I wasn't going to spend all day trying to make a potion a few lvls before. Hell, I coulda earned the level myself before anyway, and I did. I haven't used overloads myself, but as far as I know, they lower by 1 level each minute like a normal pot, but restore to the current level they're at every 15 seconds. (incase you're stats got lowered at all).

When is barb horn worth it?
I've started to train agility, fm, and mining lately, and can't decide whether or not a barb horn is worth it. I understand it greatly decreases time actually spent training that particular skill, but possible training time is spent to charge the horn in the first place, so it depends. Does anyone know how fast, or how successful you have to play/be at B.A. in order for the horn to make sense? How does the horn empty? Is it based off of bonus xp given out, x-items done (example: making 1k fires), or just based on time holding it or what? I really want to try to be efficient as possible when I'm doing these slower skills, but need to know when using a horn even helps.
