Chill. It might just be the necromancer armor, with the antler helmet and all.

Jiblix and Ken Genosis Demodded Over Speaking Out
I can't comment any further without knowing the details, so I won't. Anything I might have thought about Jagex's stance on this can change depending on those details.

Jiblix and Ken Genosis Demodded Over Speaking Out
Mods shouldn't be blind sheep who dismiss severe problems with the game and with the community because the boss doesn't like it. In fact, riling up the community might actually benefit Jagex more in the long run, despite their stubborn beliefs. In fact, mods should be taken more seriously by jagex than any regular player, because they represent the community of players. Not Jagex's stockholders. I'm not sure what you mean with an "unified front". Are you saying that advert spammers aren't a problem that should be adressed? I'm pretty sure most players will agree that it should, and in this case, this should be your "unified front", and you should support this guy's message. Point is, if mods are to be a "unified front", they should represent the players, and not Jagex. Because they are players, not Jagex employees or stockholders (well, they can be stockholders).

Because volunteers are a liability. They effectively have nothing to lose if they butcher Jagex's reputation, therefore they should not represent Jagex at all. They volunteer to enforce the rules, not to be Jagex's public relations. They should be allowed to have their own opinions, and if they happen to go against jagex's benefit, that's not their problem. A man can mute 10.000 spamming bots, but as soon as he complains about it, he gets hammered down because "it makes us look bad". Even if it's not his fault that 100.000 spamming bots are being indirectly supported by Jagex, and the rules should prevail. At best, they should represent the players, deep down, that's all they are. And if the community is unhappy, the "cream of the crop" should be allowed to feel generaly unsatisfied with the way things are going.

Jiblix and Ken Genosis Demodded Over Speaking Out
So why is it laughable if someone is volunteering to help out? Working together as a united front makes your efforts more effective, speaking from experience. I don't think he said that. He said that volunteers being the representative of a company is laughable. Because it is, volunteers do not, and should not represent Jagex.

No, they don't. They become enforcers of their rules. They still have the right to express their opinion. The moderator did not break any rule. He did not explicitly state that the state of the game was bad. People draw their own conclusions from what they see in the video, and if Jagex doesn't like it, they should do something about it. It'd be extra hilarious if they claimed a copyright on the video to have it taken out.

Really? I think it has some pretty good, intricate details. Plus, it doesn't directly show that it represents a certain combat style.

When somebody says "X is the worst thing ever", and somebody doesn't agree, people tend to defend their views. Especially when the reasons behind somebody saying "X is the worst thing ever" aren't really backed up. You want to share your opinion, and that's fine. But expect people who disagree with you to state their points. Who knows, we might both agree or learn something from each other.

17-Aug-2011 - Temple Trekking: Revamped
There is a time for everything, and there are times when the only thing available is runescape. Fortunately, I've been occupied with more interesting things, so I haven't played much in quite some months. I misinterpreted your post, which lead me to believe the most fun you could possibly have at any given time was temple trekking.

That's quite an oversimplification, not to speak of the false generalization. I could say that no game is fun because all you do is press buttons A B and C in different sequences, and that wouldn't be true because there are other factors at play. Plus, it's simply not true for a great majority of the quests available. There's more meat to it than simply running from point A to point B and fetching items (With the obvious exception of one small favour).

That is your opinion. You have yours, I have mine. Much like you, I have the right to share my opinion. And I daresay, if you do not want to others to share their beliefs about your opinion, do not publicly express controversial opinions, especially in a public comunity that is known to have plenty of members with dissenting views (as is common in many communities).

It's no slippery slope. You specifically stated, that between everything in runescape and in real life, the most fun you could possible have would be playing temple trekking. That was pretty explicitly stated, I made no assumptions of a slippery slope.

There is a general agreement between level-headed gamers that Runescape has some of the best, if not the best, quests out of any MMO. This, coming from people that dislike Runescape with a passion. Quests are quite literally, the only pieces of content that are not pure grind in this game. They are the meat of the game, the environment that wraps everything.

You can speak up loud anything you want, on a fansite or not. But anything said in public is subject to public scrutiny. But saying that you can't enjoy anything else in life more than a minigame in an online game indeed saddens me. There's enjoying a game, and then there's living for a game.

It is fun. But it is also grindy. You end up doing the same events over and over, killing the same enemies over and over. All to level up some characters that don't matter for prizes that are minor. It's comparable to slayer, really.

17-Aug-2011 - Temple Trekking: Revamped
Not really. That's... kinda sad actually.

17-Aug-2011 - Temple Trekking: Revamped
Thing is, it isn't comparable. Also, to the whole "fun" debacle: 20 minutes saved by 5 hours of temple trekking Meaning, if you just spend those 20 minutes, and do an activity you find more fun than temple trekking for the remaining 4:40 hours, you'll end up having more fun than if you had spent the 5 hours trekking. This meaning, of course, that unless temple trekking is THE way to have fun for you, then it's useless to play it in order to grab the construction outfit.

RS RWT with "Legal" RWT Games
Funny how you mention I'm spamming, when right after you proceed to repeat what I've said in a post directly above your own. Stop being a back-seat mod, you just irritate people that way. And no, we don't all know what he meant by illegal. For all I know, he might be misinformed about the law. That's why I like clarification on ambiguous terms.
-
RS RWT with "Legal" RWT Games
Then I don't get why Valve should care. If it's not against the law, and not against their own policy, they shouldn't give a crap. Jagex should be the one to take measures to prevent things such as those, since they are the ones who care who sells what to who.

RS RWT with "Legal" RWT Games
RS RWT isn't illegal, and that's where your argument crumbles down.

So, you're saying that there are people, in civilized countries, who cannot afford to download a 500Kb TEASER IMAGE? If that's the case, they probably can't play runescape due to lag. It's kinda ridiculous that somebody would actually argue that teaser pictures should be of diminute quality in order to save a couple hundred Kb, when the loss of quality kinda defeats the purpouse of a teaser picture. You may not be able to see the artifacting in the picture, but I see it very clearly. Maybe if I take my glasses off, those 200kb worth of data will go unnoticed.

Thing is, Jagex's screenshots fall in the lower quality spectrum. They shouldn't have size issues with their webserver, there's no reason for using jpg.
