  1. The problem I see with this statement is that: first, in a world that almost entirely capitalist, it's difficult to imagine the 'system' collapsing over anything more than quite a few successive generations before it's gone. Second, there is no credible ideological or practical alternative to capitalism that is not essentially atavistic and pre-industrial (other than failed central planning). Clearly such a system would be untenable in the modern world.
  2. I fail to see quite which country you are referring to with your point. I don't know of an Islamic country that combines the church and the state. Maybe once we've cleared that up we can proceed. I thought pretty much every Islamic country has a fairly close combination of church and state? The church refers specifically to the Christian body and its unique organisation. Islamic countries have nothing quite as organised as the church (though there are many churches, they span across nations and continents) of which I am aware.
  3. Maybe I'm being thick, but what other possible purpose could a man dressed as a King with a plastic face and crown fulfil other than mascot? Chief Operations Officer?

That's right - they always ban people of the opposite sex.

  6. I actually don't mind the taste of beer. I'm not trying to appear cool or whatever, but I genuinely like the taste of beer. Good beer, around the 5% alc mark, is very tasty. By far the best alcoholic drink. In my experience the people trying to be 'cool' are the ones who pretend to like vodka (well, I think they're pretending because vodka tastes like bile).
  7. Anything else is at least a vote against Jagex. I would hate to see them win best F2P mmorpg when F2P isn't even playable at this point. It's an honest vote against Jagex yes, but is it an honest vote for the game being voted upon? I'd say so. I played at least a game or two in every category except sports, where I didn't vote. Every game I voted for I also thought worthy of my vote. Bejeweled 3 is certainly better than RS, and it's a more deserving winner.
  8. Just saw this, and felt compelled to point out a few things. a) The consumerist mentality did not create capitalism, not has the capitalist system encouraged people to be consumerist and greedy. It's been human nature to be greedy, and the capitalist system resulted from that. b) By Wall Street I assume you mean the stock-exchange. I cannot envisage a future where it doesn't remain fundamental to the financial system of the US, just as they are in other countries. c) Splitting up banks is fundamentally a good idea, irrespective of the arguments against it.
  9. That's not to say that Jews have a right to steal their land, burn their mosques and override their culture because of some Biblical claims. And, truth be told, there are unique cultural divides among Arabs across the Middle East and Maghreb.
  10. The crazy gypsy lady is no joke. Sad she's gone.
  11. ^ Palestinians are just Arabs. Philistines aren't around anymore, but they were essentially a race/culture in Biblical times who were the Jews' arch-enemies.
  12. Well technically they're just nip slips, but I don't think most Emma fanboys care. I'm not providing any links or anything, so you don't ban me  A good choice. I know there are a bunch of pics with her head shopped on, but then again pretty sure those exist for any celebrity. I'll bet money that nobody's gone to the effort of making fake Joan Rivers nude pics.

Today I watched this. Priceless. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=II21iLtbLY4&feature=related
  14. I agree with the people who've mentioned McDonalds' ability to be in the right place at the right time. Last summer, I was walking around Switzerland completely lost and hungry, and there was a petrol station with a McDonalds next to it that appeared all of a sudden virtually in the middle of nowhere. McDonalds is like a capitalist oasis.
  15. Hahahhahhaa, whatwhatwhat? :P I don't know what they put in your coffee when you were here, but. You mean by the big statue of the viking? :P Yeah. There was a crazy gypsy looking woman who led a dancing troupe by the statue. She might just have been passing through, who knows.
  16. Thanks for that, brilliant article. The CSI "GUI/IP" thing and the Xbox Prince of Perisa hidden MS Office File were my favourites. Hollywood is so [developmentally delayed]ed.
  17. I don't live in the US and I've not been to BK in about four years, so I can't say it matters to me all too much.
  18. Is there still a strange gyspy lady who leads a bunch of people dancing in the town square? I saw here twice when I was there.

Check the packaging for a golden ticket.
  20. Can you really blame us? Jagex don't give us much to write home about.
  21. Oh my god, look at those women at around 1:09-1:12. I'm not sure they're even women. #-o This is true. I still can't comprehend how a programme made for infant girls can be so entertaining for men in their 20s and 30s. I watched it and almost spat my spaghetti on the floor at the horror of it.
  22. Commercialisation happened.
  23. This was all announced in December. Good to see you've kept informed. :D
  24. Crocefisso replied to Leoo's topic in Off-Topic
    That's not possible, surely?
  25. Jagex are looking increasingly like the Soviet Union towards the end of its days. I think we need a campaign to bring Jiblix back onto their team. I've voted for Bejeweled 3 over RS in the Golden Joysticks this year anyway. I'm not rewarding Jagex for being lazy and crass.
