  1. ...No. It's not. That is in no way what good journalism is. You've misunderstood the point of the Times entirely. Our job is to write opinion articles, not factual ones. As such, we are meant to voice opinions as fact. Objective news is what the news feed is for. People need to stop trying to portray the Times as a source of news.
  2. Yes, I am. To believe Zionist ideology is to be irrational because it's a very irrational and paltry ideology. If you disagree with my views on Zionism, no that doesn't make you unreasonable, unless you also happen to be a Zionist. I hope that makes sense.
  3. To an extent, this is true. But as Hitchens quite rightly points out, Zionism is an abysmal concept and I think that many people see that. A Jew is entitled to live in Palestine, but not at the expense of anyone else. To try and crowd all the Jews in the world into a 'promised land', land they've stolen from others, and get all the non-Jews out, so that then the Jewish people will be worthy of the return of the Messiah, is a shambles of an ideology and a poor excuse for founding a country. Israeli governments have been forced to make concessions, essentially, because of international pressure. I agree with you, i'm against Zionism, and i actually support Palestinians on their cause, i never called a Palestinian a terrorist unlike some of my friends, and i think it's proper at least to give Palestinians their independence and recognize Palestine as a country not just an authority or a territory. Given the fact that you're so reasonable and oppose the Zionist mentality, might I ask why you live in Israel? My guess is that you were born there and that your parents are Zionists.

From a logical and rational perspective, it's no different to the Islamic Republic in Iran or the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan.
  5. Thanks for this. It's confirmed to me that Citadels are a little too much work for my liking. Very comprehensive.
  6. At the end of the day, tobacco and alcohol are legal because they've been integral parts of global society for centuries and, in the case of the latter, millennia. You can't really ban them, they're too intergrated. Marijuana has not been, and I think the only reason it should be outlawed is because otherwise people will keep pushing the line back until real, dangerous drugs are legalised, e.g. heroin, LSD. Besides, legalising it hasn't done The Netherlands any favours.
  7. Thankfully I de-registered from Facebook last year, so if this amounts to something (I'm doubtful it will) it won't affect me.
  8. It's not quite like that. The only way you'll get schizophrenia from it is if you already had the genetics for it. If you never had a predisposition for it, you can't get it. Marijuana justs brings it on a little earlier. The point being that quite a few people have the genetics for it (some NHS reports say as many as 1 in 5, though I'm sceptical of that). Alcohol and tobacco, though dangerous, don't have the same short term risk associated with them. It also brings it on significantly earlier, in some cases decades earlier.
  9. People who criticise Tip.It writers for stating opinion as fact. It's exactly what we're meant to do, regardless of their personal preferences. People who criticise an article despite not having finished it or read it properly. People who criticise odd-phrases, even if other parts of an article disprove their criticism. In general, I hate it when, having gone to the effort of writing an article, people respond lazily and stupidly. The above types of criticism come under this category. /rant
  10. If only that were true. Rather, the people rioting are the sort that think the Internet is a type of shoe - ie, yet more stupid that RS players.
  11. Mods Timbo and Kathy - with a community that's so oft criticised, it'd be interesting to see what community management would say to the more probing questions.
  12. The problem with marijuana is that, unlike alcohol or tobacco, one use is enough to set off some sort of neurological reaction (I've not looked into the science of it) that has severe effects on mental health, sometimes even as bad as schizophrenia.

Yes and no. The problem is something that can't just be fixed with money, though admittedly some will need to be used. It's such a deep-rooted cultural problem that there is little Cameron can realistically do to at the moment, because the country is simply too bankrupt, regardless of what he's doing with foreign aid et al. I'm sorry to say that Blair's policies are a major factor that contributed to this societal thuggery and expectancy culture. But austerity programmes (much needed) are going to mean that very little can realistically be done to tackle this until a few years down the line. You're a lunatic conspiracy theorist, and I'm pretty sure your nonsensical posts come under spam.
  14. Exactly. Sure, some WBM behavior is annoying - but would you rather have a WBM or a bot? At least that's 1 more real player out there. Honestly at least bots don't annoy the hell out of me. Even if a WBM isn't even talking to me they're just annoying. I usually just mute them immediately. But I do hate how bots control the runescape economy. In certain areas.

gay Cologne is gay? That is the single biggest lie I've ever seen on these forums.
  16. Indeed he is a douche, though the real reason he doesn't support Syria is because Hezbollah, Syria and Iran are a very friendly trio. It's also the reason that we cannot realistically intervene in Syria; geopolitically it's untouchable. The three videos basically represent reason (Hitchens) and two extremes from either side (Nasrallah on one, the American public on the other).
  17. Flawed logic. People who have the urge to make guides will do so anyway. pulli23's message is that they should actually do so in a way that helps more people, which is through text and images for many, myself included. Full support for the idea. Flawed logic. Instead of complaining about someone else's work, which they did not even have to do, how about you go and do it how you want to? Nobody is stopping you from making text guides. Simply put, that's being called a [bleep]. Gabe; Rather than making the same point twice, follow your argument through to its logical conclusion. Let's consider a few hypothetical examples: ME: I don't like that song. YOU: Make your own song then! ME: That film was awful. YOU: How about you make a film then? You're using the old housewives' cliché of "you can't criticise someone's work unless you try to make one yourself". It's outdated and illogical, not to mention redundant.
  18. To quote Taleb on books of that genre: "What we call 'business books' is an eliminative category invented by bookstores for writings that have no depth, no style, no empirical rigor, and no linguistic sophistication."

Too true. Our police force are so inept it's saddening. I agree with the guy who said they need air guns and the like.
  20. This might get the debate started again. Views and comments on these videos might spark digressions that might see some good debate. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VQxhyy9Wpb4&playnext=1&list=PL4DC2EB04ADCDE128 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lIOpZv0QFes
  21. Thankfully I was never caught (friends covered for me), but at one point towards the end of primary school I beat up a guy who called me 'gay' when I was using the toilet. There were no witnesses, and the guy was such a cry-baby that the teachers didn't bother looking into it much. I think it's the only time in my life I've ever truly lost my temper.

Just saw on the news that an 11 year old in London has been released on bail. Better still, he's suspected to have stolen a bin from Debenhams. Some people are morons.
  23. Though I didn't actually contribute an article this week, I just want to thank you for your kind words, which is perhaps one of the most flattering appraisals of the Times I've ever seen.
